Toughness and aggro

Simply use other items for group content or learn to deal with the aggro.

Thieves have quite a few tools too evade damage.

My one character that’s used for crafting and storage is usually in LA.

Its a pity the southern fort is so annoying because of the 2 NPCs cycling through their dialogue without a pause, right now I mostly use the eastern bank.

I’m not saying they’re stupid. I’m saying they’re human and thus fallible and limited both in time and effort available to do things. Do I think ANet (if we can even speak of Anet as a single whole) would prefer to do a good job and would prefer to be able to produce a entirely separate Personal Story. But if they actually did it, or if they actually had the time and effort available to them I’m unsure.

Incompetence is no excuse for a commercial organisation.

If you want to make money, learn to run your corporation properly.

“Want” is an excuse.

There is no reason why other people cant be Revenants before Rytlock.

In the end his trip to the mists could have merely forced him to change his combat style to a different and rare, but known style.

After all Charr should be pragmatic enough to take whatever weapon/class works best and shouldn’t be overly concerned with adapting. Especially since he is still wearing heavy armor.

The other option would be that HoT completely changes the personal story so taht Zaitan was already killed and Mordrem are the new global threat, with the new Zones replacing Orr for level 70+ players.

Why can't new players do the dailys?

Dailies are grind content to extent the game after the regular content was completed.

Go complete the game before you worry about mindless grind bs.

Non-berserker builds should be more rewarding

Berserker is fine, the reason why everybody uses it it because condition damage sucks.

The very few high armor NPCs in the Maguuma Wastes dont change anything.
Condition damage needs to be useful in pve, that will fix berserker gear.

And its not hard to do this too: increase the bleeding caps for Champions and above and rebalance the armor/health levels of every single NPC for more armor and less health.

There you go I did you job, pay me.

Bought a $2350 PC for HoT

I still dont get why people spend more than 1k on a PC.

Hell if you know somebody that is familiar with building pcs and the current hardware, you can get a state of the art pc for 600-800 Euro.

Which might be 2,4k USD, but probably less :P

Edit: you also have a whole 1 TB of storage, you seriously have messed up priorities.

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arkinos.7245

Arkinos.7245

I always thought Skill Points could be a way of doing the Trait system, each zone could have 1 Skill Point spot thats an event/challenge more so than a fight, or a fast talk.

That is basically what we have now: having to unlock every single kitten trait with some arbitrary event at the kitten end of the world.

It sucks.

Traits are an essential part of character customisation, they MUST be available regardless of what kind of content I play.

Basically: skillpoints work because you unlock a quantity and its clearly visible on every map where to get them. Traits dont work because you unlock something specific, like saying you need to do a certain skill point challenge for every single utility skill you want, and none of those are marked on the map.

On top of that: I have yet to see anybody that really likes this system. I see a lot of posts that hate it and some that are ok, but nobody is truly having fun with it.

Game Updates: Traits

I hope this doesnt take months.
Just remove the unlock BS right now and unlock all traits.

Its not just a dumb system, its also incredibly poorly implemented.

There is no overview of what to get where, no map icon that says “get trait here” so you actually get those while playing as usual.
You literally have to check every single trait for the location, then go there and pray its not a group event.

Whoever came up with this never actually played this game.

- Make conditions useful for high end pve (this would also fix the Berserker problem)
- Bring back LS Season 1 (Not being able to play the story is absolutely horribe for anybody that returns or starts the game)
-No new level cap
-No new item tier
-Hopefully a new class

EXP penalty for playing a higher level area?

There is no auto scale up, you can only be scaled down.

If you are several levels below your target, your attacks will become glancing blows and only deal half damage while your crit chance will be reduced significantly and the NPCs will crit you a lot.

Its pointless to level in areas with enemies more than 3 levels above you.

Damage Difference between Tiers and Stats

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Arkinos.7245

The wiki has very clear numbers for damage.

For example: An ascended weapon with power stats will deal ~6-12% more damage than an exotic one with the same stat combo.

Could you link me to where the wiki says that a White Berserker’s L80 Greatsword would do more damage than an Ascended Valkyrie’s L80 Greatsword? Thank you.

Prefixes do not matter, at all.

All you need is the correct formula for dps.
Get that, put it into excell and enter as much data as you wish, then compare the results.

In case you cant figure out the formula:

Raw Damage: Weapon Damage*Power*Skill Coefficient/Armor

Critical modifier: [(Crit chance/100*Crit damage)+(100-crit chance)]/100

Total dps: Raw Damage*Crit Modifier/Attack Duration

why we don't have summon build on Gw2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arkinos.7245

Arkinos.7245

Its funny reading this thread, essentially what’s being said is there are several summon builds for different classes but they are all useless/rubbish for playing GW2!

So that’s dozen’s of skills on different character classes, that 3 years later and countless balance patches are still no good in a lot of players eyes.

What have the balance team been doing in those 3 years?

GW2 isnt really balanced in a way that classes have a lot of builds with similiar performance.

Most classes have 1 or 2 builds that are very efficient and used by the majority of players with the rest being ignored because they arent quite as powerfull or simply more of a niche build.

The game is only balanced towards a maximum allowed performance.

As long as a build doesnt go over the limit (and thereby makes pve too easy/fast and pvp unbalanced) Arenanet doesnt care.

Double XP Weekend-Any exceptions?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arkinos.7245

Arkinos.7245

I’m assuming it’s double XP from kills.

Which would be basically nothing because kills hardly give any exp anyway.

If they dont double the exp from events, hearts, exploration, gathering, crafting, etc its going to be worthless.

Why is entire game being balanced around sPvP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arkinos.7245

Arkinos.7245

Arenatnet doesn’t give a kitten about pve balance.

Other than perhaps an upper limit for the speed of which certain things can be farmed (to prevent an economic kittenup) I dont see any useful pve balancing being done.

There are massive differences in pve performance between classes.

[Sugg] How to fix the Zerker Zerger problem

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arkinos.7245

Arkinos.7245

Berserker isn’t the problem, its just good at what it does.
The problem is that everything else is bad at what it does.

Defense (vitality/toughness) isn’t needed because active damage mitigation is better and a proper boss will kill you in under 2 seconds regardless of your HP.

Condition damage doesn’t work because of the bleeding caps.

Healing power is for the most part so weak it has no use at all.
Base values for healing are too high and healing power scaling too low, it just doesn’t do anything that’s useful for general gameplay and is a niche stat at most.

Once these things get fixed, Berserker will be one among many rather than the holy grail of performance focused pve.

Making new chars as a Veteran of the game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arkinos.7245

Arkinos.7245

I came back to the game after a very long time and made a new character to get into the game again.

The story progression and leveling reward seem alright to be, but what seriously annoys me and will most likely cause me to never actually play my new characters after Zaitan is the trait system.

I dont get who thought that forcing people to play certain content to unlock the very basics of their character is a good idea.

Its like you could only get any skillpoints whatsoever by doing sPvP.
Or you could only get ranged weapons by doing WvW.

The only thing about the new system that makes me happy is that all my old chars actually kept all traits unlocked. Because I will never bother to unlock all traits for new chars.

The fact that the region for the event part of the daily is basically unplayable for actually new people that level there is also not all that nice.
