Taunts are CC, not aggro.
Its just another CC that will be handeled like CC we have, which means bosses will deal with it via cc immunities of various kinds.
Underwater combat is garbage, the camera is terrible, a lot of skills dont work and a lot work different than on land (auto aim grenades… like…seriously?).
If anything I wish underwater combat was completely removed from the story and all fractals and instances, as well as removing all underwater points that are required for map completion.
MF basically works the moment you pick something up.
Once its in your inventory it doesnt work outside of a few specific cases like the Event bags we have at the moment and the pvp reward stuff.
ANet has made it abundantly clear that they would rather players play in the persistent world rather than in small group instances. The only exception to this seems to be that some development is going into FotM for the expansion. The explorable dungeons have not lived up to ANet’s pre-launch designs for them. I expect no developer time to go into any aspect of dungeon play, including whether they are always accessible or not.
Because removing a barrier on open world maps would be developing time going into dungeons…
Its just that simple: remove the shield on CoE. Let the kitten champion patrol the entry and be invulnerable until the pres are done so you can only rush past him or something, it doesnt matter.
Just dont hard lock the stupid dungeon when all other dungeon are freely accessible regardless of the meta event status.
This most likely means that most stability skills will give several stacks.
Everything else would turn the game into a pure cc and burst mess.
^ Which is a form of pay-to-win. Having to go sell loot less often gives an advantage, and newer players have to pay physical cash to do it.
For a very narrow minded definition of winning, perhaps.
In practise: Bank space is a convenience feature that wont “win” anything for anybody.
Bank space is not required for anything but your own convenience, and its the de facto standard for good sub free MMOs to sell convenience to make money, as opposed to bad f2p MMOs that will sell power or outright sell content to make money.
The main problem is not that dungeons can be contested.
The problem is that a contested dungeon should still be reacheable.
You can always go Arah, regardless of status, but CoE is locked down while contested.
Simply remove the hard lock shield on CoE and maybe spawn more Inquest troops to make it difficult to reach and everything is fine.
I really wonder why people make such a fuss out of taunts.
Its just another hard cc, while it might work a little better thanks to being ranged, its functionally not very different from a stun or knockdown.
GW2 has some quite effective gold sinks, hell most people here probably dropped 16g at the event vendor today.
And the prices of individual items have very little to do with inflation most of the time.
The easiest solution for devs would be giving every boss imunity against taunt which would make it pretty much PvP only skill
Why? Taunt will be a standard CC, bosses already have ways of dealing with CC.
I think we have to be careful with what we interpret into words like taunt given the current amount of reliable information.
I don’t think it will be comparable to a trinity-tank taunt. We’ll have to wait for more information, maybe even hands-on experience.
Its basically a fear that has the enemy run into the opposite direction.
It has nothing to do with pve tank taunts from other MMOs.
Those are not a hard CC, those just build up a usually not visible aggro stat.
The very base concept of GW2 is not locking content behind grinding.
PvP with regular gear would require massive grinding because you’d need top tier equip in order to compete.
Changing build would be absurdly punishing, as would be going into pvp with another character.
Given they announced new specializations taking advantage of new programming methods, some of these could be anyone’s guess. I wonder what they are going to do with mesmer, if they ONLY get an OH.
That does smell like dual GS warriors.
Not sure what else could use/need programming improvements as far as weapons go.
You wont get damage on a build like that tbh.
Conditions are hard to scale up for warriors because you basically only have bleeds, and putting all effort into a single condition makes you vulnerable to classes with good cleanse.
You could try to get runes for poison and burn, but this kind of build is very limited.
To be honest: not rereleasing S1 before Hot would be a massive failure.
HoT will bring new people to the game.
Anet HAS to make sure all pre HoT content is up to date and playable.
That includes the Orr story arcs and S1.If they dont the game will look like kitten before people get to the HoT content and might actually drive people away.
Except for the fact that neither Personal Story or S1 really did have all that much to do with Mordremoth at all.
Sure it would be nice, but it do you really think they will take a somewhat large part of the developers away from the expansion in order to rush out old content?
Releasing it WITH the expansion, possibly, but extremely unlikely that they would release it before.
Yeah neither Scarlets story, nor the origin of all those npcs that chat you up like an old friend will have an impact. Why are you called commander again?
And new players will be totaly fine with playing the broken Orr story arcs while leveling up and it cant possible turn them off.

Every info given so far is superficial, it doesnt make sense to have a forum to discuss information that isnt even guaranteed to make it into the final game like that.
I think the rifles AA is fine, if anything 3 should get a buffed base damage and scaling.
This would also be easier to balance for pvp since 3 offers more counterplay and could therefore be buffed much harder than 1.
Ability wise, the rifle always seemed like a raw dps weapon to me, its weird that bow does more damage and has quite a bit of aoe and burns.
Arenanet made a mistake in doing that. Buffs and nerfs should not change the function and use of a weapon in such a manner. If you were a sword/sword rifle user, for example, that change alone meant you had to drop the weapon and that’s not what a buff should be doing.
Rifle was never an adequate power weapon and the adrenaline change limited it even more because it couldn’t be used with the killshot opener. The weapon was made doubly useless and Arenanet`s logic on the rifle changes eludes me to this day.
To be fair, using rifle as a condi weapon was…. sub-optimal to say the least.
Sword Rifle Rampager was a good build though.
kitten happens.
If GW2 goes down the drain, just move on to the next best game.
That NPC makes sure standing around semi afk is painful and encourages you to play or log out to give other people your slot on the map.
Working as intended.
If you want slim looking medium armor take a look at glorious armor.
Remove the shoulders and the helmet and its quite the nice alternative to coat #237
Stop being nerds and simply dont do the achievements if its not fun.
If you force yourself into doing something that you hate, its your fault, not anets fault.
Thats weird because I can buy Carapace Headgear Boxes which should be unlocked by the Mystery Cave from Seeds of Truth.
Yet I have never played any episode of LS at all but I have Seeds of Truth and Tangled Paths unlocked.
I have a simple question regarding the story chapters.
If I buy the chapters that unlock the Carapace Helmet/Leggings, can I buy those containers from the bandid crest merchants in SW or do I have to play the story?
Damask wont drop until there is a new and reliable way to farm silk.
Linen doesnt even matter, the numbers are small.
But using 300 silk scraps per damask is just stupid.
You should get one Box from an achievement anyway.
Merging Servers wont do anything.
Servers are only used to determine WvW points anyway.
While I agree that almost all JPs suck (mostly because of how bad the camera in this game is) you can always ask a Mesmer to do it for you if you have trouble doing it yourself.
(no order)
- Remove Courtyard from the pvp rotation just like the kittenty underwater map
- Make condition builds viable for high end pve
- Create a way to trade ascended chests + X for ascended chest of choice
- More medium armor that are neither coats nor underwear
- Allow every player to craft items that eat dragonite/bloodstones/empyreals
The fact that the temples have to fall to get anything done is just all around bad design.
Whatever can be gainedfrom those temples should be handed out for defending the temple, not attacking them.

Am I the only one finding it ironic that certain players expect someone else to do the research to lead them to success?
“Tell us what to do!”
Um . . . so you want us to do the research, learn the mechanics of the fight, and then type all this out before said fight, and during, because those players cannot be bother to learn the correct methods themselves?
. . .
I’m pretty casual too, but that’s downright lazy. Sorry. Even I look to see how best to benefit the raid before specific fights.
Again, bringing this back to topic, that’s just common sense if you want success.
You are missing the point.
You know the mechanics of a Boss, fine.
You want to succeed or not?
If you want to succeed, tell people what to do.
Yes they should do the research and whatnot, but they didnt, you can troll them for that later.
But now its your call, are you willing to do what it takes to succeed?
If not, you don’t have to cry about others being lazy.
If anything the game has too much titles.
Throwing them out like candy (Combat Healer, Honorary Skritt, Loyal, Dark Traveler, the SW legendary titles, all AP titles, etc) devalues all titles.
There is no going back now unless anet somehow makes say “Legendary Titles” that look different (shape, font, colour) and require actual effort/skill to obtain.
Most MMOs dont cap conditions at all, but also dont throw them out like candy.
All of those X% chance for Y on crit that are often minor traits just oversaturate the game with conditions.
Most of the time games dont even have conditions like GW2, dots simply do damage over time that is damage and not some weird as debuff.
Sorcs in Tor for example have dots that ignore armor too, but those are just dots that ignore armor, not conditions in any shape or form and you can freely stack them if you have several Sorcs in a raid.
I dont buy them and I have never used a booster either.
Virtually all consumable gem store items/boosts are very much worthless in my opinion.
Though I admittedly HATE the very concept of consumables in real money shops.
I gladly spend gems to buy permanent upgrades but I wouldn’t buy the kittenty boosters at a 90% sale.
Its quite simple.
If you know the mechanics of a boss you can either take 2 minutes to explain them in map chat before the boss or you dont and you get the right to be smug about it after it fails.
Yes other people could read up on the boss, but they didnt.
You cannot change how people play this game, but you can do whatever is in your power to do to win the event.
If you decide not to, you are as bad as the noobs, because both you and them didnt do what was needed to succeed.
Considering the effective reward for doing Teq, he is very much difficult enough.
It would be nice to allow people to craft the kitten star.
Afaik there is one key item you cant get anymore and you cant make the star without it.
In my experience: if you just start a group yourself you will have 4 other people in 2-3 minutes on average.
There are so few groups in lfg because they fill extremely fast.
GW2 should never get new gear tiers.
Whatever might be nice to have in items could be done via ascended runes with special effects or something similar.
Please not.
I hate all the asian MMOs where chars look like 13 year olds with double d breasts.
I really do not want to see that here.
The problem is that even flag based pvp would lead to massive griefing.
Yes it sounds fun on paper, but it wouldnt be used much.
Open world pvp games typically have some special mechanisms to make it more interesting/balanced.
Lineage 2 for example had a secondary hp bar over your regular hp that would block pvp damage. So even if you’d be farming and maybe not full hp, you wouldnt blow up instantly if ambushed.
I think this would be a waste of ressources.
The realistic reason for now getting an upgrade is most likely that nobody uses shields.
I mean Warriors love their GS and even if they use a one handed weapon, the Warhorn is just too useful to pass up in most situations.
Guardian shield is just as useless.
Engis typically use Rifles.
Shields are like Hammers, they have basically no place in most pve situations because they are purely defensive. And even in pvp they are often inferior to utility offhands like Focus or Warhorn.
No point in upgrading a legendary nobody sees.
GW2 is typically not very entertaining to watch imo.
I mean I suck at pvp and all, but I play the game and would still never watch it.
The main reason for that is that GW2 is incredibly intransparent.
For example: in a moba you see the items and spells everybody uses, you see their gold, buffs, etc.
Meanwhile in GW2 you dont see any of these things, and then you get things like different utility skills and traits. It ends up feeling very random on screen unless you are super involved in the current pvp meta.
GW2 needs much more details and knowledge to enjoy streams.
Thats not very inviting tbh.
(edited by Arkinos.7245)
Well now legendarys aren’t legendary. They needed to be harder to obtain, they were already too easy. I feel this “farming a precursor” thing is bad, but im the type of person that actually wants to earn something not have it handed to me for walking around a few zones.
And i understand its not earned in it current form either thats why i said make it harder.
GW2 is a casual game, this move is only consequent.
Its also not clear how easy its going to be.
But even so content is made to be used, by more than 1% of the players.
Thats how “big” MMOs work.
Its not like GW2 could be any different from WoW in that regard.
The POINT is that I with some guildies STARTED a breach map, successfully ran a breach, and brought people in to breach, and I ADVERTISED on LFG for a BREACH map, which then got TURNED into a keyfarm map between events, and the I got TOLD to leave. What is wrong with keyfarming-nothing if they do it on THEIR own map, but they don’t, or stop between events, but should I have to wait for 100 people to run out of shovels on a map I STARTED? They wait for a breach jump ship, and then farm until they are out of shovels again effectively RUINING the maps they jump into and telling people who where there first to GIVE UP THEIR hard earned magic find boost because they decided this map looks good.
And by the by @Garrisyl they created the toxicity when someone asked them to help with the event that they up leveled and they started yelling about how THEY OWNED the map, and saying that anyone who event THOUGHT that they should help was several unrepeatable words.
You dont own maps, regardless of what you do.
People decide to turn your precious breach map into a farm fest?
Deal with it.
Reducing the amount of skills that area ground-targeted. Looking at you, Grenade Kit.
There is an option for ground targeting where you can cast on where your cursor is pointing. Only downside is you can’t see the aoe circle before you cast.
It is a must have for me.
This does obviously help, but I still want an option like “center ground targeted skills on current target”
Its just incompetent commanders that dont stop chest trains for breaches.
Most trains will defend forts once in a while for shovels anyway, and running the Breach and the Vinewraith is usually worth it for the hero buff.
Then again the Vinewraith doesnt really drop anything of note, and you can hardly complain that chest farmers prevent you from boss farming.
The problem is: what does a new race really add to the game?
Its like you just install a mod that overrides the textures/modell of your char with something else, nothing else would change.
Considering the massive effort needed to make a new race, there is very little return.
Even making a new race a glorified Tonic and selling it in the gemstore probably wouldnt be profitable.
