It was an MMO, and any pretending otherwise is splitting hairs or drinking the marketing kool-aid.
They should’ve been able to use rifles, yes. Rifles don’t fit the “nature” theme? Tell any outdoorsman that and watch them laugh. Rangers are hunters, and hunters have used longbarrel guns for as long as they’ve existed. It’s stupid that rangers can’t. I’ve thought so since the beginning. Doesn’t matter now, of course.

The Guild Wars 2 Project was a dream, given form. Its goal: to prevent another market loss, by creating a place where casuals and hardcores can work for their different goals, peacefully. It’s a port of call – home away from home – for completionists, explorers, pvp’ers, and wanderers.

This is the story of the last of the Trusted Developers. The year is 2012. The name of the place, is Guild Wars 2.

Unless you also remove infusions, the problem is only half-solved.
Make all ascended gear into exotics, with appropriately reduced stats, and give them normal upgrade slots. Remove infusions from the game. Remove agony from the game.
Since I never played it and never will now, I couldn’t say.

Bad news. Thanks to what you did to it, I don’t love it anymore. Quite the opposite. I guess you shouldn’t have done it, huh?
I honestly can’t believe you’ve done this. I was against this from the beginning, but actually seeing how ridiculous the ascended gear is makes me want to weep. You’ve turned your back on everything you claimed to stand for as a company.
Maybe NCSoft gave you no choice – in fact it might be comforting to some people to believe that – but the results are the same. You are not the Arenanet I knew, and GW2 is not the game for me anymore.
I played the original Guild Wars happily for seven years, and obsessively followed GW2’s development from the very beginning. I was a loyal and satisfied customer.
It’s all in ashes now, so I guess it’s time to say goodbye. It’s really, truly a painful thing to face. People may smirk and talk about “first world problems” or whatever, but the Guild Wars series was something good in my life for a long time, and it’s sad that that time is over. I can only say thanks for the years of memories.
You guys think that ring is bad, have you check out Solaria Circle of the sun yet? It has even crazier stats and the infusion on the image was even worse …

You think wrong. 1H Sword is only usable in PvE, and longbow is garbage. Pure garbage.
Also, I notice you don’t have anything to say about the stealth trap nerf.
They better not have nerfed Plinx. Half the people in the game will quit.
They already are because of other stuff. This ship is sinking, fast.

I’ve got no will to play further, especially since a friend of mine has already quit the game over this issue. I can’t formally “quit”, but I’ve got no motivation to play anymore.
Please reconsider this. Please. It’s tearing the fanbase apart. I’ve already had a friend decide to quit the game forever over this, and although I can’t quit outright, I have no motivation to play anymore either, especially now that my friend is gone. Don’t do this to the game. Turn back, I’m begging you.

You may want to count yourself lucky. My experience of clearing Bloodtide Coast yesterday will always carry reminders of the map chat at the time, which involved exploring the possibilities of Norn/Asura “relations”…

I was a great crusader against the per-character system, but honestly, it’s really not that bad. With the Trading Post, all but a few dyes (by which I mean black and white) are very cheap, and Unidentified Dye drops are quite common. Plus, once you’ve figured out what your favorites are, how many more do you need? You’ll really only ever use a few of them, after all.
Thing is, it used to be much, much worse. In the early demos, everything was glowing neon green or red. They’ve actually already toned it down a LOT from how it used to be. Honestly, I’ve never been bothered by it in the actual release.
This is kind of on topic – does anyone know if the dye packs you can buy have a chance to contain ANY dye?
Like maybe the chances of the super rare dyes are just much lower?
Um, it says on the dye packs. You get 5 dyes from the Common set, and 2 from Uncommon or Rare. So yes, you could potentially get any dye.
Really though, it’s far more cost-efficient to just buy the specific dye you want from the Trading Post.
My wife got this off of reddit. I guess this is the difference between abyss and “black”.

That’s a very helpful chart. I’d like to see one for the white dyes as well.
Incidentally, let me give out some helpful advice: The “Mithril” dye appears white on a lot of inherently lighter textures, and is VASTLY cheaper than “White”, let alone “Celestial” at the moment.
It’s not brilliant, snowy white, but good enough in most kinds of lighting. It’s a decent, affordable stop-gap solution until you’re willing to shell out for one of the others. Here’s some screens. Can you tell?

As I just said, yes I was. I tried to get them as soon as the word got out that the servers were up, but no good.
I wanted “Daphne” and “Rose” for potential sylvari characters, and I was there waiting for the game to go live so I could grab them. They were both taken within 2 minutes of the servers going up…
After Tengu come out, I’d be fine with skritt as a playable race. The wide variety of rodent morphologies means there’d be plenty of space for customization. On the other hand, I’m not sure how much you could do with any sort of personal story…the skritt live pretty simple, undramatic lives.
