I sure wish the chararacterization of Scarlet in the game matched the one in the story. In the story, she’s presented as cerebral, driven, and hungry for knowledge. That’s good, and an atypical role for a female character. But then the game makes her into just another maniacally laughing, smarmily insulting, hostage-chowder-making villain…
I like her backstory as presented. I just think it’s sad and dumb that ultimately her in-game function is to be yet another Joker-like, smugly chaotic anarchist type.
You do realize that by Seeing Forever she went mad, right?
And as I say, that’s both cliché and a cop-out.

Do something about this. Just had it happen for the second time, random momentary game drop – and no, not my internet, just the game connection.
25+ minutes of invasion work down the drain. Fix this now.
I sure would. I’m 12/13 and no idea which one I have left. Maybe Harathi, but I could’ve sworn I did that one already…
Agreed. I don’t understand why it was ever changed.
Please do make it so minis can fight enemies alongside you, even if they only do a token pittance of damage.
AFAIK…
it’s not a bug. It’s a ‘placeholder’ stance when you have character quality set to low.
Except mine is set to “Highest”. I’ve noticed other people complaining about it to, so I know it’s not just me.
Since the update I’ve noticed nearly everyone in LA with their weapons in their hands despite not being in the “battle stance” mode. Is this some kind of bug? If so, I hope it’s fixed quickly, because I don’t like it…
Why not just flip things around? Have it spawn a kittenload of Fire Elementals AFTER you destroy the cauldrons and Risen Knight?
The problem is that people want to be doing the event constantly, and the success timer (2-3 hours til reset) is much, much longer than the failure timer (5-8 minutes). Until that changes, failure will always be preferable, as it allows the event to be replayed much more frequently. The best way to fix it would be to remove the failure state completely, and have the event always succeed after a set number of mobs are killed.
In any case, I appreciate the response Colin.

Tarnished Coast’s Cursed Shore has become so flooded with carpetbaggers from other servers that the entire southern half of the zone around Anchorage has become incredibly laggy, to the point where you can’t even fight properly. Animations are jerky and skills refuse to activate.
Please fix the event which is being so grossly exploited so maybe people will go home and TC natives can play in peace again.
It is? I didn’t realize that. I know they update every two weeks, but I don’t recall them saying that there are 2 parts to updates.
There are two parts to THIS update, yes, and for a while now the updates have tended toward a system like that, where the first half of a release sets the scene and the second involves new developments which build on the first:
Secret of Southsun → Last Stand at Southsun
Dragon Bash → Sky Pirates
Bazaar of the Four Winds → Cutthroat Politics
Queen’s Jubilee → ????
Yes, the champion reward drops are a permanent addition to the game.
In ancient art that features the nude human form … body proportions are always believable and never exaggerated to make the people depicted more sexually appealing, again this is applied to both genders.
I may not agree about the Watchknights specifically, but I appreciate the spirit of most what you said – however, in this particular, you really do not have the slightest idea what you’re talking about.
Yeah I decided not to include stone age fertility charms in my point about art, I obviously have no idea about art do I. Yep a quick search of all the countless exquisite pieces of renaissance paintings and statues clearly shows all the women with DD breasts and men with 12 inch kittenes….
1) Don’t make blanket statements if you don’t want to be misconstrued
2) I personally wouldn’t consider the Renaissance “ancient”.
3) So only European Renaissance-era artforms that you consider “exquisite” count? I think not.
4) Look up Peter Paul Rubens, among many others, if you think that hyperbolizing the body proportions considered desirable in that time period didn’t happen.Natural ladies there. If they’d created the watchknights in that image I’d love to see what the reaction would have been.
Except they aren’t “natural” at all. They are just as much an unrealistic idealization of what was considered desirable in that era. Though I agree it would’ve been an interesting design choice to have gone that route.

Their health is so high that you really have to do a fair amount of damage to qualify. Not sure if that’s your issue, but if you’re spending a fair amount of time killing vets during the fight, I’d suggest focusing more exclusively on the boss.

Subject 7, human mesmer. Don’t attack it directly. Kill little oozes while three Illusionary Wardens+Hounds of Balthazar (pop at around 50%) do all the damage until around 10%, then Blurred Frenzy+Mind Wrack to finish.
Of course they can, they drop in the Crown Pavilion. I’ve seen it happen several times, though I’ve not been lucky myself.
They might not be in the game yet. This is only the first half of the release, after all.
If at least the pass worked as a instant port to the Pavillion, I would for sure buy it.
It does work like that. I spoke with someone who got a Royal Pass as a drop. Double-clicking it does teleport you to the Royal Terrace from wherever you were. HOWEVER, using it again won’t teleport you back where you came from like a Portal Stone would.
Seriously? Knights of the Round + Mimic = Cake Win. She was much harder. lol
Knights of the Round, are you kidding? It’d take you DAYS to win like that.
I had a hacked out Cloud doing like 200,000 damage every round with Omnislashes, and it still took forever to win.
You’re hyperbolizing. Badly. The fight is long yes, but it’s quite easy with the right set up. KoTR+HP Absorb+Mimic allows you recast it infinitely and heals you to full health at the same time.
I didn’t really have an opinion on this until people started getting up in arms about it. Reminds me distastefully of real-life religious zealotry. Guess what, human culture is not, nor should be, solely about the gods. In fact, the official stance on this, as laid out by Angel Leigh McCoy in an interview (http://esprits-dorr.fr/node/261), is that the human gods are less important to the people than ever.
That being the case, I really think you can stop whining about this. You still can’t swing a dead charr in DR without hitting something or somebody referencing the Six. I look forward to the day that’s no longer the case.
Emerald WEAPON was a tape-the-button-down-and-walk-away affair with the right set-up…
They also physically removed the breast on the side of their dominant arm so as to better their aim in combat. Peter Weller said it so I am inclined to believe it.
That’s a piece of latter-day folk mythology that was never alluded to or depicted by contemporary Greek writings and artwork.

Agreed with several others here that as a feminist, what annoys me most about them isn’t the nudity but the high heels. If you want to use the image of a stylized nude female as the shell for what is undeniably a formidable, intimidating fighting machine, I don’t really have a problem with that. In fact, I’d say it’s a nice deviation from “male as human default” design norms, and also appropriate considering Jennah is a female ruler. They serve as direct expressions of her explicitly female power and authority. If a male ruler had done this, yes, the message would be very different. But that isn’t the case here.
Furthermore, if you’re going to go that route, and have an artistic representation of the human form, I’m not in favor of censoring certain pieces of it, i.e. nipples. That defeats the whole purpose. Actually they should’ve had vulvas as well, but there’s only so much they can get away with. This is a teen-rated video game, not an art exhibition.
However, high heels aren’t part of the human body, they are shoes. If the rest of the body is going to be naked to act as a representation of the human form, the feet should be as well. By adding that detail, you’ve canceled out the naturalism of the representation and tied it to all the cultural mores surrounding stereotypical femininity.

And yeah, daggers could use some love too. I want a dagger that looks sharp, not just like a wedge of stone/metal.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/jubilee/Dagger-Skin-Disappointment/2573155
I don’t know what you’re talking about. The new champion dagger, Komalie’s Sacrificial Blade, is one of the nicest dagger skins I’ve seen in the game.
Actually I think the Sovereign staff is my favorite staff skin yet, BECAUSE it’s simple, sleek, and elegant. I don’t want fricken lolipop-style, giant overdesigned staff heads and messy, crooked hafts. Give me symmetry and style.
I noticed this too.
Very, very not news. We’ve known this since the novels came out, which was before the Mesmer was even officially announced as a character profession.
There’s an event in Bandithaunt Caverns, Queensdale, that spawns a soloable champion on a fairly short timer. However, it seems like the Embroidered Coin Purse you get from it isn’t always exotic. I also got a white one that only had low level stuff inside. So more hit-or-miss than a high level outlaw, but at least it’s easy?
(And if you’re wondering why I’m sharing this information, I don’t care about selling them. I want the price to drop as fast and as far as possible.)
Definitely. Much longer than before. Hope this is fixed soon.
Except they aren’t actually real centaurs, they’re watchknights enchanted with mesmer illusions…
I don’t think they are in the game yet. They may be added later as rewards from black lion chests, as it happened with the aetherized weapons.
Or maybe they are the new “Final Rest”.
Baseless speculation and known to be incorrect, as the rapier and pink fellblade have already been dev confirmed as champion rewards.
(edited by Arshay Duskbrow.1306)
This is stupid. Like they couldn’t have forseen this? Wasn’t the point of adding champion rewards to finally make them worth people’s time to fight?
I appreciated it as well. I also thought her conjuring up a Whisperblade out of nowhere was an impressive display of her power as a Mesmer. Now if only I could do the same thing…
(edited by Arshay Duskbrow.1306)
I was getting them earlier, but after logging out of the game for a few hours and then logging back, none of the ~5 champions I’ve killed so far have dropped anything. Is there a time limit on champion rewards?
Sure, but it’s not worth it. It costs 200 sprockets plus 7-10 gold depending on the item, and these same skins can be gotten for karma in each racial city – and since you seem to be under the impression that the weapons are race-specific, they aren’t. Any “cultural” weapons can be used by any race. Only armors are race-bound.
Your opinion. I quite like a bunch of them.
I can understand the long-term reasoning, but that admittedly doesn’t make it any less annoying at the current moment. If you wanted to establish an “infrastructure” of repeatable content, it should’ve been mixed in with more permanent stuff along the way.
I would imagine they’d look similar to the halberd the mini is holding, at least as far as the general style goes. Though that’s just a guess.
Wrong. That is the Seraph/Golden spear skin, sets that already exist in the game and have since launch.
I’ve seen this nowhere.
It will be an automated change or something you have to acquire?
If it’s something you have to buy, will karma and gold become account bound too for those without the wallet?
Those questions have already been answered. Read the thread.
Too bad. I was hoping it was a device that would allow you to set a “home point” somewhere in the world that you could teleport back and forth from. As it is, this won’t have any use for me.
Those weapons are part of the new champion loot drops which include a bunch of new skins like the one in the picture. Also the rapier.
The Sovereign set is completely different, and available from the vendors inside the Crown Pavilion.
Hey Anthony, pitch the idea of Warriors getting pistols! with the rapier being a potential drop, I wanna be an Effin pirate! YARRR
Then make a thief like you’re supposed to.
Anyway, disappointed that the rapier is going to be released in this manner. Prices on the trading post are bound to be absurd, 200+ gold if not higher. I wish it had been another 800 gem BL store skin.
I’m assuming it’s still possible to withdraw them as items though, because some of those items are needed for Mystic Forge recipes. Or will you be able to load the Forge directly from the wallet?
As I am not a designer I do not know 100% how it works, but the recipes have been modified to work within the new system. I think (take this with a grain of salt) you can spend the tokens on an item that then will be used in the recipe.
Thanks, I appreciate the answer.
I’m assuming it’s still possible to withdraw them as items though, because some of those items are needed for Mystic Forge recipes. Or will you be able to load the Forge directly from the wallet?
It is, but the chance is extremely low. You can get one from any tier, but I wouldn’t really hope for it to happen.
So, I’m guessing when the rapier appears it will be a bundle item or part of towngear (like boxing gloves).
OR, it might end up a non-sword weapon, eg Scepter with Rapier skin.
I’m thinking back to Winds of Cantha (GW1) – where we got a wand with katana skin, scythe with bo-staff skin, etc
That would be incredibly stupid and would make people even angrier that they were forever denied being able to use it as real weapon.
Anyway, you’re wrong, thank goodness Anet’s not that dumb. As the reddit post that DJRiful linked shows, the rapier is coming, AS A SWORD LIKE IT SHOULD BE, next release. Hopefully as an 800 gem skin, like past living story skins. I’d be fine with that.
Please make scepter autoattack less awful. Speed it up, let it inflict something, give it synergy with something else, anything. Just make it viable, which it will never be the way it is right now.
