Depends on what resources you have. If you have one of those 20level scrolls from a character’s birthday, you can use that and then do all crafting to 400. That will get you to level 76.
You can use the GW2 wiki for a lot of information. Looks like neither can, based on that site.
I agree as well
Love this idea.

Yeah, your friend must not have used even reasonable security for this day and age. Adding one more step is just going to add a layer of frustration for the majority and we’d still have the same issues anyways.
As the others have said, it’s not really worth it to craft so you can use your own gear. If you have a bunch of gold, it’s great for leveling up an alt. It’s also required for Ascended gear but that’s more of an end-game goal. I’d recommend waiting on that until you have the cash to spare.
For a new player, I’d recommend ranger or warrior to learn the game. Don’t worry about people saying rangers are horrible or whatever. They are more focused on level 80 play. To level up and learn the basics of the game, either are perfect for that. In open world pve, not dodging doesn’t hurt you too much. And, it’s not like learning to dodge is some super difficult tactic. When you need it, you’ll learn it.
Ahh. didn’t know that. Thanks.
Don’t forget that you can always see the server names you are competing against. You can then guest to those servers to get the POI’s.
Quotes on prices are hard because the mats needed change in value at a very high rate. Generally speaking, around 30 gold to take Tailoring from 0-400 if you buy everyting, assume another 80 or so to go from 400 to 500. I use this site instead for my crafting needs: http://www.gw2crafts.net/
It pulls prices from the trading post fairly consistently and breaks down prices for each tier of mats. Even gives you choices on deciding between speed versus cost.
I can’t answer the armor question. I know light armor is the most expensive of the armors to make due to ascended cloth but that’s about it, sorry.
Don’t get tied up in what others recommend. You’ll have issues joining pick-up groups for fractals or dungeons but just create your own groups. I run a ranger as my main with PVT stats. I’ve been through many dungeons and never had a problem because I just create my own groups. If, however, you want to get in on all the speed run cheesiness, then you’ll have to be a conformist. Otherwise, just have fun and play what you want, how you want.
Go to Caledon or Wayfarer and practice on archers. You’ll be dodging in your sleep in no time.
Great advice. I use the archers at Shaemoor Garrison. They telegraph their attacks so it’s a lot easier when you’re learning the mechanic.
OK, thanks for all the help! I’m afraid GW2 may not be for me. I’m pretty bad at dodging, historically.
I turned off the ‘auto-dodge’ got fed up of dodging with normal movement … if you do get downed, and even die, the good people around you will probably assist in healing you again.
I have, since the game launched, been able to, somewhat, dodge … but it has to be a very conscious effort on my part to do so. I usually just, RUN!
I was the same way when I first started. Then I mapped the dodge key to a thumb button on my mouse. Makes for significantly easier dodging. And now it’s just second nature to dodge.
I just used the Tab button. I believe it’s preset to target the nearest enemy.
You get 7 levels for each tradeskill you take from 1-400. With 8 tradeskills, you can get a total of 56 levels if you do all of them. I’m not sure how many levels you get going from 400-500 but I’d guess no more than 1 most likely so that’s another 6 levels for a total of 62 levels from tradeskills. If you want to go this route, I’d recommend doing some searching online for guides. Generally speaking, if you sold nothing back, you’d spend around 160 gold to go to 400 in all skills. Expect another 50-100 gold per tradeskill from 400-500.
I agree with you about the bad design and it would be nice to have more in-game resources to figure things out. However, I’m not sure why you would rather waste your time sitting around a zone waiting for something to happen than take less than a minute to look it up online and get on with your game. I guess I just can’t relate to people that aren’t willing to use the resources available just to prove a point that only affects them. Either that or I’m too old and remember the days of games like Everquest where you didn’t really accomplish much if you didn’t do your research.
I don’t like it, I rarely ever saw anyone running around with fused gauntlets, after this patch everyone has them. Might as well give everyone every skin and make us all look the same
THIS ! this is why u dont re release skins, you are ruining the rarity of our hard work…..ur supposed to do this after 10 years of an mmo existing not 1.5 years…..
I’m not sure you have a good grasp of what the phrase “hard work” means if you think that applies to any of the Living Story content.
What types of matches are you playing? If it’s hotjoin, then of course you see a lot of unbalanced matches. Many players aren’t trying to win. If it’s rated matches, then I call BS or you’re with an unskilled/new group. I’ve been playing a lot of pvp lately and while I see a bunch of unbalanced games I see just as many close, balanced games as well.
I got a ring with celestial stats from the Balthazar track. I’m around 96% MF right now.
Plus, you can usually get a second piece of armor from the tokens you earn during the track. One track gets you 2 armor and 2 weapons? far quicker/easier than repeatedly doing the dungeons.
My understanding is the only way dungeon tracks are permanently open is if you complete the story dungeon through pve. Otherwise, those tracks are only open for a week at a time. Zone tracks and special tracks (like Balthazar) operate under different rules.
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Much less for me. Since the patch, I’ve logged in a few times to set wardrobe, traits, etc. but just don’t have the desire to play due to all of the nerfs to my playstyle. I used to champ train a lot for leveling purposes. It now takes longer, for slower leveling. Less of a reason to level an alt. I’ve been working on ascended items. The nerf to the train means it’ll take longer to get bloodstone. The world boss change means it’ll take me longer to get dragonite ore. Empyreal frags which, to me, were the most boring part of ascended farming, didn’t get any better. I can live with those changes because I never thought the champ train was the intended way to play and the world boss change seems a bit reasonable given their stated reasons behind the change. What has put it over the top for me, though, was the daily nerf. I’ve never been an AP hunter. When I logged in, if I had a little bit of time, I’d do the 5 to get my laurel. When I had more time, I’d do more. The idea of “choice” was a good one to me. With that nerf, I have less choice. I’ve tried pvp and wvw and don’t enjoy them. I won’t do them for the dailies. The pve dailies now remove pretty much all choice from me and I’m required to do the ones that take longer. When I don’t have the time, which is the days I work, there’s now no point for me to log in. So I haven’t been. On the days I don’t work, there’s now less reason for me to log in since I know that my goals have been pushed back so significantly. I don’t expect to be playing much, if at all, until they change the dailies and give us choice again. I know ANet doesn’t really care about a small subsect of the player base, such as mine, but they’ll see money lost due to changes like this.
If they brought back all of the old stuff they removed, they’d make so much money from those collectors that want to get everything.
Could someone link the blog or whatever that talked about the caps? I keep hearing people talk about it but can’t seem to find the source.
There’s also an infusion which gives 20% MF.
I’ll be playing less due to the dailies limitation. I’m ok with most of the changes/nerfs but if I am now forced to play parts of the game I don’t enjoy to get my dailies, I won’t do it. This will just mean that I play less and eventually log in less commonly. If it keeps up, I’ll eventually quit playing. In the long run it means Anet will lose money.
I’m in the same boat as above. I looked forward to playing each day, by focusing on getting my dailies done. When I had time I would do as many as possible but when I didn’t, I liked that I had multiple choices so I could get them done quickly. I won’t be joining wvw or pvp just do do dailies. If I don’t like a part of the game, I’m not going to play it. I’m hoping this is a bug because if it’s not, I see myself playing a lot less and spending a lot less money on this game in the future.
I also play during off peak times. When I need Dragonite I just guest to a high pop server. If you find the right ones, there’s always groups doing world bosses.
Ahh that sucks. Was hoping to build my exotic set sometime soon. Thanks for the info.
In the patch notes it says:
Sentinel’s inscriptions can now be purchased from the guild vendor.
Anyone know where the “guild vendor” is? I’ve been in Divinity’s Reach looking for it and can’t seem to find where these are sold.
