[Suggestion] - Add "Order/Pact Missions"

This I like!
After all, even though we are now commanders in the pact, that doesn’t mean that we have left our order, so it would be nice to have more order related stuff.

I just wasted my ambrite recipe

Ashandar.2570

1. The required level is red when you have the profession but not the right level, and green when you have the right profession AND the right level. Otherwise it is white. I agree that it would be nice to have a clear warning though.
2. It is possible to learn recipies regardless of chosen crafting professions since you can change crafting professions very easy, and change back just as easy without loosing the levels in each craft.

Is this good? Well, I like it, others may not. I feel your pain though, I have made the same mistake a couple of times, though not on a grind recipe like amberite..

Taimi, Jory and Kas and Offencive

in Living World

Posted by: Ashandar.2570

Ashandar.2570

So basically you want Taimi to be hurting, miserable and you wouldn’t mind if someone destroyed her golem since it’s not in good tone to kill her?
Taimi is Asura. Asura have great egos, are more intelligent than any other race on Tyria, and their entire culture is centered around the Eternal Alchemy and magic-infused technology. What you are suggesting is totally against what it means to be Asura, and thus I can only boil it down to you wanting her to be some kind of human defeatist dwarf, spreading misery all around, which makes me a bit sad.
Besides, why would you let a charr handle Asura Tech when you have a handy Asura with you?

You started this discussion with the statement that you like Taimi. You lied.

I keep forgetting that Taimi is disabled, I just don’t see a problem there, she’s just one of my team, and a member of my college. I love her, but that snooty remark about me not having done any research since becoming the Snaff Savant.. -_-
Jory and Kas.. as stated above, it’s still in the rosy stage. It will evolve like all relationships. A fast forward button for the lovestruck dialogue would be nice though, I want one IRL as well.
Braham.. He has been somewhat neglected by the writers so far, hopefully he’ll get more involved later.
Rox.. Has she had any major part since LS1? I feel the writers are treating her like LFG usually treats rangers..
Um.. oh yeah, there is a topic in this thread. On topic then: I disagree with OP. My advice: if you dislike LS and/or how the characters are portrayed, do not play it.

The time gate is a bit meh..
But I see no problem with the other stuff, ascended is the best you can have, though it is just marginally better than exotic.
By the way, there are some cooking recipies that are just the same, you need to make 1, then 2, then 3, then combine 1 and 2, then combine those with 3, then make 4, combine them and then add spices to get the thing you want, so it isn’t unique for ascended.

Jade Weapons AGAIN, really ANet?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Ashandar.2570

I don’t even understand what you’re upset about. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen someone with a Jade weapon and this includes them being more readily available. If you want to feel like a special snowflake, you should encourage Anet to allow us to craft our own weapons based on the skins and particle effects available instead of worrying about this. In my opinion, reskinning them to be a different color would be lazy. That effort would be better spent coming up with completely different skins.

Getting new skins is cool. Getting the ability to dye existing weapon skins, now that I’d pay real money for!

A window of neutrality in WvW for mapping.

in WvW

Posted by: Ashandar.2570

Ashandar.2570

I am one of those hated people who prefer pve, but I don’t think neutral mode is the answer.
I do some wvw and recently got my 8th World completion after waiting months for us to get red color. 100% exploration is definitely doable, and I don’t mind going to wvw to help my server, as was suggested here, but I quickly get bored running over the same 2 maps (EB+3BL) over and over and over. I suppose you get the same feeling about pve.
But it is my choice not to do wvw more often, so if it takes a long time for me to map borderlands, well, I have nobody to blame but myself. Though sometimes I wish we could get the red color more often

Anyway, this is just my opinion, feel free to bite my head off if it makes you feel better

i gotta ask - what was the "sewer incident"?

in Asura

Posted by: Ashandar.2570

Ashandar.2570

If you mean the sewer incident that is referred to in the Snaff Prize, it is never really explained. Though the installation of a tracking device in the translocator suggests that a previous test ended with someone/something translocated into the sewers, a messy recovery, and it was probably because Pol miscalculated since he is the one embarrassed by the incident.

I’d love a magitech Asura-ish greatsword, like lots of mini-cubes suspended in a sword shaped energy field or something similar.

Have you checked out the Super Greatsword and the Fractal Greatsword? They sound kind of similar to what you might be after.

Yes I have the super greatsword right now actually on my asura mesmer, but what I’d like is something more Asura-technology. The current ones, glyphic, inquest, T3 cultural etc have rather boring skins, I find them rather chunky. Floating cubes are part of the Asura culture, so I just made a suggestion based on that.

Slayer Achievement

I wish Anet would count risen giants as part of the giant slayer achievement. The Naegling giant and the one in Harathi Hinterlands – Kol Skullsmasher are the only two I know of outside of dungeons.
There is also a skill point in Gendarran Fields that summons quite a few plants to be killed.
Here’s to hoping that we get a few more giants in the new LS episode.

Yes pleeeease, make the risen giants count!

First of, “we” are very protective about Taimi and worried about her but decides we can leave her since it is safe there.

After looking at the new trailer and notice alot of vines in the village and I bet that she will be in trouble.

Of course she will be in trouble, or possibly she will be trouble. hm..
Anyways, she will be ok, because if Anet kills her their HQ will be swarmed with raging fans intent on burning the place down
I am one of them, though since I live in the EU I guess I’ll have to send a burning e-mail or something instead lol

The Feasts are still account-bound though, if I recall correctly. So while you can indeed “share the benefits” that way, it still leaves players who want to sell their crafted food in the dust.

Yes, they are still account bound, so crafting to sell is not an option.
The ideal would have been to keep recipies account bound on acquire, and the food unbound. But Tyria is not an ideal world

I’m disappointed the food is account bound. One of the main reasons I take consumable crafting professions is so I can hand them out to friends/dungeonmates.

Kinda takes the kitten out of it a bit.

You can still do that in a way, by crafting the feasts/pots. Not the same, I know, but at least that way is still available.

Aerin fight is boring and lame

I like the fight. I have done it on every profession except engi thus far. Aerin’s Health doesn’t bother me, it’s not a complicated fight. I used the aspect jumps occasionally but mainly the ramp. He managed to kill me twice when I played my thief, but I suck at playing thief so I wasn’t surprised
I think it was a good boss fight to have in the beginning of a story arc, not very hard and interesting because of the platforms.

No, you misunderstand, you have already got past the point that is blocking people. Look at my screenshot (no. 2 by Filaha). People cannot get from the peak where you end up with the first lightning pull you pick up. Assuming it takes time to turn around, etc. the lightning pull will expire and all you’re left with is the Air aspect.

As noted, the air aspect spawns on the top of that middle peak while you have to drop down two platforms in order to make a jump across during which time – someone with movement limitations – may take too much time to position themselves before the Air aspect expires.

Ah, you are quite correct. I misunderstood your post by concentrating too much on the attached image.

Now, regarding the correct jump.. If you are unable to drop down on the ledge and then press 1 and w/forward within the time frame, then you have a problem.
The problem however is not limited to that particular jump, because if you are unable to do that jump you will not be able to navigate through the rest of the map either.

Yes, but in a game which is for enjoyment, liking it is a big factor. If you don’t like a game, why would you play it? If Anet is going to have more and more of this type of content, as opposed to actual high fantasy MMO content, then more and more of the high fasntasy MMO audience will not enjoy the game. If Anet wants to change their customer base, then that’s their prerogative. But it’s unfair to the people who have been mislead into buying a game that isn’t what they wanted.(or is going to radically change into something they don’t want) This “we want to incorporate non-traditional elements” thing can only go so far, before you can’t call it an MMO any more. If Anet really wants an “MMO with console-like game play” then they need to be more up front with that. A lot of the MMO people don’t like reflex type play, and/or can’t do it. You need to represent you game truthfully, and not mislead more people into buying it than would actually like it.

So basically Anet has betrayed the entire customer base because they added something to the game that you don’t like? I’m really sorry, but this is pure whining.

Now, for 2. on that peak, you only get the air/wind aspect for high jumps. Someone who takes more than 15 seconds to turn around and face that wall you’re talking about and active the lightning pull on a placed target will not have any way of replenishing lightning pull.
Seeing as you need to drop down 2 platforms to make the high jump with the air aspect over to the Zephyrite, you cannot easily replenish this crystal either.

So, you post a lot of screenshots but the zone is closed off already at step 2. I’ve tried it. I cannot begin to fathom how the physical limitations works for someone suffering from them, but I spent 30 secs to 1 minute at each crystal spot to “simulate” taking time to turn around, etc.

So what Raenzjar.4210 and Sytherek.7689 have been indicating most strongly holds true (they of course have known all along!). And this could be remedied by having the aspects not expire and rather just have a set amount of charges like they usually do.

That is not a necessary double jump, you can jump up on the wreckage wall, then run hugging the cliff a short bit to a piece of wreckage that functions as a ramp that takes you up the rest of the cliff without the need for aspect jumping. By using this way you can also run north from the ramp to get the second waypoint before going back and continuing up the cliff.

This game has standard pve, wvw, pvp, dungeons, fractals, activities, and living story. There is plenty to do in the game, if jumping is a big issue, and you feel betrayed because someone didn’t warn you about living story season 2 two years ago, and because jumping and aspects now is a thing you feel you should not have to do, then perhaps you should try one of the non-jumping games instead.

I do say this to offend you – that is not my intention and if you feel offended then I apologise – I simply mean that none of us like all games.

Personally I like the aspects, and I think that they use them in this part of living story because it is the zephyrite crash site. I doubt that the rest of the story will rely on aspects, we will just have to wait and see.

Pavilion vendors [They are back!!!]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashandar.2570

Ashandar.2570

If I recall correctly the vendors disappeared with the Pavilion last year as well. Now, I have a theory, it could be wrong, but here goes:
if the vendors are inside a temporary instance, it is very likely that they will not be available after that instance is gone.
Moto and the wintersday vendors were located outside the instances, so they remained a while after the event. The Pavilion and Sanctum vendors were inside the instances, and thus became unavailable when the instances were removed.

Just a theory, but there is some logic to it I think. Feel free to prove me wrong.

My very personal opinion is as follows:

Fairness – someone said it would be unfair to those that already have done the achievements if a few seconds were added to the timer. As one of those who already have done it, I disagree. If they add for example 5 seconds so that more people can do it, I’m all for it. (I am assuming that those of you who disagree with me on this always refuse free ports to JP chests since everyone should work equally hard.)

Porting – well, it helps with the first bit and gives access to the second waypoint, but you still have to use aspects to get to the story instances, and you have to use aspects in the story instances as well.. If someone asks in map chat I will help with a port and guide them to the second waypoint, I am however unsure how much good it will do.

Have a nice day!

There are some personal story instances, can’t remember which ones now since it was a long time ago, but you have to steal tech from the inquest to help people. One instance in the early arc and one in the pact arc, though I think they depend on the choices you make, so they are probably not available in all storylines.

Quoting this so it appears down here as well as pinned to the top of the thread.

Tournament rewards for the World vs. World Spring 2014 Tournament will be available in the June 17th build. Once that build is live, you will be able to speak to the Battle Historian in any WvW map to get an updated tournament chest that has the correct rewards and number of tickets for your placement. Previously issued tickets will be voided with the build. Feel free to open any chests that you have already received now.

Thank you once again for your understanding.

I don’t really see the problem here. Tags can be useful in some big events, and in order to locate champ train etc. Yes, there are many commanders that have the tag up all the time, but I’m not bothered by it. I have a tag, but can’t remember when I used it last since there is always someone else that i tagged up when I arrive.

There will always be people in the game who want commanders to tag up in pve. It’s part of the train mentality, but usually it’s easy to organise stuff in map chat without tags as long as someone actually starts doing it instead of arguing about whether or not tags are needed.

If Anet gave us all something extra it would be a very nice gesture. However I do not think extra tickets is a good idea, that would defeat the whole tournament reward idea. My personal opinion is that if they were to give us something as a gesture, it should be something useful rather than more skins, for example obsidian shards or something like that.
To demand extra stuff as compensation for waiting is something that I’m all for if some people have to wait when other people get their stuff on time, but right now we all wait while they correct the problem, so noone has to wait longer than anyone else.
I have my tickets, and I would love to be able to get a mistforged skin right now, but it is just a skin. I can play just as well with another skin until they solve this thing.
