Likewise, I would never game on a laptop as they jsut cannot handle the internal heat the video card is going to produce. Laptops are good for portability, useful for business people that travel or students to and from class. I would not use one for gaming, nor for day-to-day business.
Don’t forget to work on your story as well, you’ll get some XP from doing each stage as they come along. Plus, you can always redo Dynamic Events and Group Events in each zone.
In your channel options, choose Game Messages. That will show when friends log on and off. It will also show what items are looted, nodes that are picked, etc. Some people like that, some don’t.
Correct – click on the + sign to add a new tab to your list. You can then use the drop-down list next to each tab to customise what shows there. I have a seperate tab just for /map chat, as our guild chat is lively enough and gets lost when the /map channel is added in. You could add a new tab for /team if you do a lot of WvWvW, as a suggestion.
When getting weapon or armor drops, I seperate out the better quality items from the rest. I salvage any white armor that will turn into cloth or leather, vendor the rest. Anything that is blue or above, if I am not going to use, I offer to guildmates. Any exceptional pieces will go to guild bank if not taken right away, since we are an international guild and not everyone is on at the same time. The rest gets posted on the Trading Post (if the profit is worth it), elsewise will get vendored.
I try not to use waypoints as much as possible, preferring to run between points, especially if it is a short distance. This allows me to gather metal, wood and plant nodes along the way. Any extra metal or wood that is gathered and will not fit into the bank because the slot is full gets sold at the Trading Post.
I haven’t had any problems with slowly building cash on my characters with this method.
I believe this was changed due to the massive exploit that people took advantage of. I suspect this is to prevent people farming karma points, buying gear with the points, and then converting to coin or crafting mats in bulk.
Why not choose which one you have the most fun on and go with that? After all, it is a game and the point is to have fun.
There are as many opinions on which professions are more powerful than others as there are people playing the game. Instead of worrying about finding the “best”, why not find what YOU like to play and have fun with it. Just because someone says rangers are not viable in dungeons or end game does not mean anything. If you like a ranger and get good at playing it well, there’s nothing stopping you from being better than any other profession. By the way, rangers are just fine in dungeons and end game.
If they were purchased via karma points, they are not sellable after you replace them.
When you want to do a dungeon run, why not asking your guild members, or those on your friends list? The game is all about the community. We join guilds so as to have a group of people we normally play with, who can support us when we want to do something and in return we can support them as well.
Instead of standing around spamming /map chat looking to join a group, why not ask your guildmates or friends to join you? Runs are much more fun when you’re with a group of people you know rather than strangers.
I dont seem to have too much trouble keeping my pets up. When going into a dungeon, I bring out 2 bears as my pets for the run, but I also have about 10 points (so far) in BM. Sure, they still will die, but I usually don’t have to wait for the swap being on cooldown. The more points in BM you have will help towards pet survivability.
…..is reset if you stow, swap, change pets, or travel to a different zone. HOWEVER it also wipes the stack if you SWIM.
If you’ll notice, when you enter the water, your pet is stowed. If you dive under the surface, the pet is swapped to your first aquatic pet. The mechanic is working as intended. That said, yes it would be nice to have the stacks retained on the ranger instead of the pet.
Yes, I wish the names were remembered. I have put in a suggestion, and hope that they are working on it for a future update. Until then, I won’t worry about it now, just carry on and continue having fun.
Just thought I would add another voice to the chorus singing ArenaNet’s praises. The game is fun, the world is beautiful, and the standards you have set for your community are a breath of fresh air. All your hard work over the preceeding years to put together this (our) little corner of paradise is very much appreciated.
Dragonbrand - [LION] Lion's Arch Irregulars - Selectively recruiting
in Guilds

Many guilds will pay lip-service to being “mature, friendly, adults”. At [LION], we truly are. A guild that has the same philosophy as ArenaNet with regards to community behavior and attitude. [LION] is not for everyone, to be sure, but if you think you would make a good fit, recruiting is currently open.
I am sure this has more than likely already been reported, but just in case it has not, here goes:
The Heart quest in Hirathi Highlands to escort the skrit egg thieves portion is working. However, when the Veteran Harpy Matriarch appears, you can fight her to a point about 50-75% health and she then disappears and does not return. A small group of us waited around for about 15 minutes, hoping she would come back, but she never did.
