So underworld, i was commading in your border at prime time tonight , i think the enemy commander was from AA atlantic army not sure, i hope to don’t see arrow cart in open field again from UW, was pretty bad.
Uw border was full upgrade so hill and garrison was taking too much time to have any fun.
Uw you come out and fight sometimes that’s good, just don’t build AC and ballista in open field is just bad, plus you got wipe and farmed for 40min, see you tommorrow.

For the super Sneaky thief, the ac our treb from inside the open tower, now we know a new place ty, very creative, GJ

Yesterday I had to zerg rush crossroads multiple times because your server build 4+ ballista’s there, and multiple arrow carts. So please. XD Don’t make any (seriously NONE) accusations of using open siege while that kind of stuff is still going on.

PS. I don’t mind it that it happens. I do mind people telling what an other server should or should not do.

I have seen some good fights this match up.

However, last time we faced FR there were allot of arrow cart hacks and I have NOT seen them during reset! Nice, thanks for that ^^

However – at kittening 6AM this morning when 15-20 FR try to walk down their bay they even dare to arrow cart hack when there is TWO (yes two, deux, twee, du, due.. got it?) defenders. Lame. Verry kittening lame.

Tried to contact commander, he refused party multiple times (to just try to sort it out), therefore players using the AC are reported.

Hi there,

Lots of negativity on here >.< But I’d like to share with you that my guild [Narn] and I, we have been enjoying today. It’s one of our mini-events, Tower Defence.

Give us a challange We don’t like to lose, but we’re gonna give you a decent fight!

“Decent fights” while i can see 4 guild arrow carts, 2 guild ballista, 1 guild cata and a guild treb in that screenshot alone, that sounds SO FUN.

Guys.. please. If you are defending cragtop then the same amount of siege is there (yes it is, I’ve been busy with it for quite some time). Sometimes you have fun defending and we eat the pain of arrow carts, sometimes we do have the fun of defending and making you eat the AC.

If you really bother so much about the way siege works then I really think you should complain at Anet. I don’t think it will make allot of difference, but doing so here will defenintly not make a difference.

Then about the screenshot I posted earlier. I really do NOT understand the crying about it, sorry. Yes, it was a harsh night to you guys. And if you guys would not be capable of fighting back in anyway, well then I could understand. But, hey! You’re a rank 14 server and we’re rank 18. This does certainly say that you’ll have either more skill or more numbers and you you allready showed that you guys are better during the day. I also think that FSP’s nightcap is not the most brilliant one. Does that mean that we should just stop doing WvW at 24hrs? No, don’t think so. You have allready retaliated on it and maybe still are, still have to log on today. Therefore I’d like to say that is a job well done.

Having that said I just beg everyone of us not to cry to much and just share your experiences. No matter what kind of experiences; having a kitten load of lootbags around you (even if that is a lootbag machine (you don’t want to know how fast I check that roof of garri if we manage to reach lords room garri if its owned by fsp)), taking a heavely bunkered tower or doing a ‘map complete’ against another server.

LD;DR version: WvW is in no way a completly fair game mechanism and crying about it wont get any of us anywhere.

Wait, what?
Ares Novas and I started off with agreeing on the fact there were to many enemy waypoints. Therefore, the two of us started building golems in FSP borderlands at 12 midnight (GMT+1). About two hours later we had parked 18 golems in spawn ready to melt down hills and garrison. Done that bought a t-shirt. Then it happend to be so that there was to many of FSP on the border to quickly snatch bay and besides that the wall in garrison was already down due to a treb at Cragtop. It actually took is a kitten age to get that treb down. All kinds of things tried tho: AC in front of the wall which I managed to place to far to the cliff so it didn’t reach, sneak spot which was spotted the first time. Then SPGR got a treb up in the camp and I was back on the sneak spot with a smaller group. SPGR managed to kill it and FSP went to.. Well, yeah where did you guys go?

Garri wall repaired due to the upgrade and bay was within reach. A scout found out that Bay NE was at 50% (whut?). By the time we reached inner I had a little “O-M-G we’re so lucky moment”, since there was a load of superior AC and some ballista’s I think. If a couple got in a little bit earlier it would have been allot harder.

Everything after that was just free walking. We had an awesome night and I hope you guys had atleast some fun looking at us trying to get down the treb.

I only use Prayer to Kormir on days when I have the Condition Remover task for my Daily. XD

That one is done within 5 minutes of WvW on an ele XD

OT: The only prayer I actually use from time to time are the hounds on a 1v1 if I play on my ele.

I’d love to see thief (and maybe ranger) be given a crossbow as a small AoE and condition weapon. Could look something like this:

  1. Probably a trio chain of attacks with some vulnerability or weakness stacking, as well as 1200 range

2 Incendiary Bolt – 3 initiative – 900 range
Base damage 800, cause explosion (base damage 100) & 2 seconds of burning damage to target and anyone in radius of 260, blast finisher

3 Poison Dart – 3 initiative – 1200 range
Base damage 400, poison enemy for 5 seconds, also a poison combo field

4 Scattershot – 4 initiative – 900 range
Base damage 200 per pellet, fire a bolt which erupts mid flight causing 1 second of bleeding damage to targets (8 pellets)… this attack could also be made to do more damage the closer the range of the enemies (for example if you unloaded at point blank range it would do 1600 base damage and 8 ticks of bleeding for a second

5 Basilisk Dart- 7 intiative – range 900
Base damage 300 – Fire a bolt coated in basilisk’s venom ( basically the same as the elite skill but on a ranged attack)

I didnt really think this idea through very well xd so sorry if something is insanely imbalanced.

Another thing which might be cool would be a grappling hook attack which pulls the enemy to you.

I’m also hoping for a mainhand pistol buff for thief!

Skill 5 is.. err OP.

Pick the thief guild as elite. Make sure you have the crossbow equiped and D/D in offhand and some util skills that grand stealth (BP for example). Also, trait with the faster initiative gain when stealthed and when using a stealth skill +2 initiative. Then, what makes this OP?

You cast the basillisk bolt, swap to D/D stealth yourself with BP or so (and gain initiative). Then you steal towards your target and smack them with a backstab. This all can be done within the first 0.75 seconds of the poison effect, leaving another 0.75 seconds left to autoattack and a cloak and dagger.

Assuming you backstab for 8K this will result in an almost instant death anything not guardian or warrior.

Earth 3 is great if there’s enemies a head, or some random mobs. Bind yourself and leap. Yes, also do if its another enemy, if you’re in range to cast it they’ll prob attack anyway, why not use the leap then..

There’s a basic rule to elementalists. Its pretty simple: don’t. die. Its not that hard not to die unless seriously outnumbered or fighting a heavy DPS + a condi class (yes that combo is killing >.<).

If you die as an ele, and you cannot mistform into a tower or so, the best thing to do is mist form of a cliff and kill yourself.

Also, it should be noted that blindness became a whole-awful lot more powerful (it is only removed when a valid target is in-range of an attack used), making signet of air even more powerful.

I am kind of conflicted between mist-form and arcane-shield now. They share a 75s cooldown, both break stun, and both serve the same purpose of preventing damage.

Arcane Shield
-75 s cooldown
-instant cast
-breaks stun
-blocks 3 attacks over 5 seconds, doing damage to the 3rd attacker
-I can continue attacking

Mist-form
-instant cast
-breaks stun
-no attacks land over 3s
-I cannot attack or use any skills
-I cannot be cc’d = stomping better

I seriously think the shield is better in small-scale battles where attacks aren’t coming in by the bucketful. The damage + lack of interrupt to skills is awesome. Invincible ele returns with rock solid + arcane shield + ether renewal and water heals!

I still keep mist form + another stun breaker. MF saved my kitten to many times. See it as some sort of panic button. If some thief suddenly backstabs you while fighting one or two others with water attunement on CD the shield won’t save you since it’ll break almost instanly due to the fast attack rate.

(the other stunbreaker I use atm is signet of air, since its a short CD and great for mobility (my build doesn’t provide swiftness, other than the few seconds from air attunement)).

Its a profession that should wander in small groups attending tastks small Group does.

That before april nerf
Now lacks the mobility to kill its target unless its a duel (and opponent is thus supposed too not run away)

I still do that, and I still do not have problems soloing down 50% upgraded camps. And the only classes that actually do get away are thiefs and warriors if they use their invul ability.

It still is, you just have to know how. And if roaming for you means kiting and fighting 8 people around some terrain obstacles, then no.. Not anymore – There’s been to many nerfs to properly do that.

However, you should still be able to fight a couple at a time, especially if its not two D/D thiefs.

Well if you’re just starting out i’d suggest getting soldiers daggers, knights armor and maybe a few pieces of cleric too if you feel you need more healing , cleric amulet with cleric jewel, knight’s earings and cavalier rings with berserker jewels. It will be relatively easy and you have lots of room for error till you get a hang of things. And just go with the 0/10/10/20/30 build or 0/10/0/30/30. Then start changing things and experimenting after you get more comfortable with it and discover what you can do without and what you want more of. I’d also suggest picking up a staff with berserker stats on it. You’ll need it for dungeons and for dropping stuff on people in wvw when you’re behind a wall defending it from the enemy forces. And you’ll need a sigil of battle on the staff and on one of your daggers. What you put on the other dagger is up to you, just don’t put another weapon swapping one or “on crit” ones on the other dagger as it wont work with the battle one. For runes i’d suggest 2 superior water, 2 superior monk, and either 2 superior melandru, or 2 major water. This is just standard stuff to get you started and make it easy for you. You’ll want to change things later on as you get better with it to fit your personal playstyle better. But this should do for now.

Imo, there’s not much use for running with 30 in water anymore witht the nerfed bountyful power. I’d say you just run with stone splinters now ^^

Signet of earth > remove target > fgs 4 > lightning flash > switch attunement for fury = 70-100% hp off most builds if executed perfectly

earth v2
traited for arcane XII (forgot name)
earth 4 > earth 2 > fire attune > arcane wave + blast > fire grab
put in cleansing fire if not traited

That’s an interesting one Adastra. I want to make sure the remove target part you stated you meant no longer have your enemy target and then do fgs skill 4? if so what does that accomplish when you will be missing the leap hit from that skill to your target? just run past them with the fire left behind?

That line of fire does massive damage, actually if you can make you target follow you into an obstacle, or he’s meleeing a gate or so and you cast FGS4 against an abstacle, you will insta kill your target ^^

If a small havoc squad is trying to take a tower I usually use this against those who are attacking the gate. To even speed up the kill more you can cast FGS3 against a wall after it.

The point with eles underwater is not to do damage, but to CC the kitten out of your enemy (I can see that this is a problem in PvE). In WvW you should either CC them and let your team kill them, or CC and get your kitten dry.

Guys guys.. I did really think the patch was verry bad at first too, but it opened up allot of doors. Its just that you cannot play the cleansing fire, LF, MF D/D build anymore. Just swap CF for the arcana shield/signet of air/AoE and you should be fine.

This patch actually made burst eles useful.

I am using Arcane Shield. I would have pick Signet of Air if i was running in a zerg. But my play style in WvWvW is small roaming groups so with the other 4 people in my party we already have perma swiftness. Armor of Earth i am not choosing since of its cooldown and i think Arcane Shield does a better job and still deals dmg to targets in range which is always a bonus.
As for “Excala build” pre-patch I altered it with my own traits in Water and Earth for my dps.

Edit: My elite is tornado for my teams purpose. But FGS is great mobility especially combined with LF i can see that being a great gap closer or for getting away better than RTL was pre-nerf

As in the FGS combo I ment using the LF to roll over my target twice using LF, its pretty hard.. you have to be quick but if it hits it down massive damage. You should try it some time.. I’d say at the practice targets in sPvP or so ^^

I post-patch run a 0/0/20/20/30 build not completely bunker but i say the dmg is better than the 0/10/0/30/30 build pre-patch with a lot more utility but less swiftness and fury up time, since you loss zephyr’s boon. It is also very similar armor to the cookie-cutter build 0/10/0/30/30. As for utility skills i keep Lighting Flash as now for offensive and some defensive, Arcane Shield as it is now a stun breaker, and finally Mist-Form.

I know, I used the “Excala build” also pre patch. The loss of fury upkeep isn’t that much of a loss for me since I just use the attunemt switch for fury when I need it (mostly for the fire 3/4/5 combo and earth 5). I’m just trying to figure out what the best replacement is for cleansing fire, since there is some need of stun breaking. I think you should either go for armor of earth, arcane shield or signet of air.. The down side of armor of earth and the shield is the humongous cooldown.

Which are you using at the moment?


Edit: Yes I’m also keeping LF as an offensive uttility, since I did allot of practice with LF + FGS skill 3/4.

What do you guys think of using the pre nerf 0 0 20 20 30 build with instead of cleansing fire, signet of air and instead of the healing signet ether renewal.

You’ll still maintain condition removal through ether renewal and be able to break stun every 30 secs using the signet. Since not every kitten class but those hammer warriors apply stun all the time you also solve the massive lack of swiftness through the signet.

I’ll still have to figure out if the stun removal of lightning flash is actually that bad. The only thing I know is that I now cannot just slam it somewhere ramdomly right in front of me to save my kitten .

Didn’t test it yet.. Deadly tired atm will try it tomorrow.

It also might be an idea to swap earths embrace for obsidian focus, since with the latest patch you’ll gain 300 thoughness (!!) while channeling. Since basically everything is a channel (some are just rather short). However, you might be able to take a serious advatage from this (fire/water 2, earth 5, etc).

Just some random thought spraying since D/D has to change some bits to be effective. Any idea’s/critism/thoughts welcome.

Uugh.. learn a class before you start complaining. I must agree, an ele is the hardest class to keep out of a keep (not to say almost impossible if he/she uses rtl towards the portal and pops the normal mist form the moment rtl stops (protip)).

However, if you manage to get an ele down in front of the portal it will ofcourse mistform but, what the mistform does NOT do is breaking preapplied imobilizers. So just throw a load of immobilization at him/her and you should be fine. It might work, might not – since eles have traits to gain -83% duration on cripple/imobil/frost.

I don’t see it as much as a problem since it is the only actual useful skill in our downed state (yes, our downed state is kitten. I only use mistform to either jump inside a tower, or kill myself by jumping down a cliff).

Last I checked, Eles have two invulnerability skills, extremely high protection uptime, frequent condition cleanses, and frequent healing, none of which got removed in this patch. All that happened to the popular D/D build was that it lost some stunbreakers.

The point is that normal damage output doesn’t really kill an ele unless you’re either stunned, imobilized, frozen or crippled. Then I do not understand why I’m not allowed to counter that.

(We can still counter it, ofcourse.. with the most USELESS skills an ele has)

[WvW] Oil or Sharpening stone?

Hi,

At the moment I’m running the ‘0 0 20 20 30’ build (i.e. loads of thoughness and condition duration decrease). This build is working fine as it should – tanky. However I’m doubting about the food I’m using at the moment:

- Bowl of poultry soup (-40% condition duration, +40 vitality)
- Superior sharpening stone (6% of thoughness to power, 4% of vit to power)

The first one is required, but the second one could be swapped for a Master Maintenance Oil. The sharpening stone boosts my power from 1650 to 1825 and the oil gives me a boost from 22% crit chance to 30% (will go higher, getting my asc amulet, last accesoiry and ring soon).

So my question is, will the extra crits outperform the extra power?
