I understand what the OP is talking about. I have eight level 50 characters and each only have earned 3 gold. I have not done a single dungeon, I have not bought nor sold a single item on the TP. I have not bought any weapon or armor from a vendor yet as I take what is dropped. I love playing the open world (hearts wish they were repeatable, story, DE), yet I know I will be required to grind out dungeons for months to make enough gold to outfit each with the armor/weapons/jewelry I want them to have after they reach level 80.
What’s wrong with the TP or vendors? Obviously you could have earned much more than 3 gold on each character but you chose to avoid it.
You don’t even have to grind dungeons, you get tokens from each dungeon outside of gold that you can you can trade for exotics. Dungeons have storylines too so it seems like they fit into your idea of what’s fun. Run each path once and you already have enough to get an either gloves, boots or a helm.
Hell I hate grinding. I have 4 level 80s right now (I had fun leveling them and I’m on my 5th) and all of them have exotic sets (some multiple) because I am a merchant. Hey look the mats I gathered while exploring can be used to make this which gives me a pretty good reward when I sell them on TP compared to a vendor.
Open the gates to one and you open the gates to all.
Is it so hard to keep track of a heal cooldown? And initiative has 3 dodges at max (traited thief) and 2 for all other classes.
Stop UI shizz popping up mid screen at stupid times….
I tend to do WvWs without UI on most of the time because of these, constant shields popping up etc.
What UI pops during WvW? All I see here are overflow notifications. The pvp ones don’t matter, they pop when you die and go away soon, or when the game ends.
Pro: cross-server LFG tools remove a reliance on the local server population. Gets frustrating waiting for a group in LA.
Con: Not too good for the community.
Many people argue that the LFD tool on WoW was a contributor to the demise of the community and made the game less enjoyable.
I think GW2 has a chance because abrasive and anti-social behaviour here is not tolerated as well as in other games. (remember those suspensions over offensive names and language? yeah) This means less chances of having a jerk in your party.
To accommodate LFG I think that GW2 would need a wider set of rules and coverage for these abrasive and antisocial activities and some incentives for being nice/helpful/friendly.
The Honour system in League of legends comes to mind – after a successful party/game a party member can be given a honour into what you thought he contributed the most to – was he friendly? helpful? or a high skilled player who had the patience to guide the rest of the group who were flailing around.
Those awarded with certain honours could earn achievements, or use their points on small bonuses like skins or easier access to certain commodities.
Even the portal names to the different starter areas in lions arch dont show up unless youre 1 step from entering it …
And here I was thinking you were talking about mesmer portals.
Those are Asura Gates, using the proper name might help to not confuse some of us. And they have their respective races standing at the entrance of the portal… See 2 Norn or Sylvari just standing in front of the portal… yeah those lead to their starting areas.
Diminishing returns on loot is not intended to affect the average player
Dungeons use a more aggressive DR system
Seeing that the DR for dungeons only triggers when you run the same path consecutively and/or in under 30 minutes, you can safely say that a similar, less strict ruling applies to specific events or specific mob types.
If you’re playing the game like Anet wants you to be doing i.e. Moving on to new content after completing 1, instead of farming 1 event or 1 dungeon path for hours on end, there should be no problem at all.
Of course the bots don’t care. But this dramatically slows down their ability to impact the economy.
No idea what you mean by targeting btw, mind explaining?
Yes more endgame content please. The only thing I’m doing now is making new characters.
Some of your suggestions are questionable though.
- Mind elaborating on the reward system? Not sure what you’re talking about specifically.
- More tiers of armors just sounds like gear grind tbh, no thanks.
- Mounts… remains to be seen I guess. I think we’re in a good place as it is right now
warrior and guardian are much much better on melee.
Thief functions well on range as well as melee.
There’s a difference.
Wouldn’t the personal story count as a race specific thing if you don’t want a full large dungeon?
to sum up:
i play the game in the style of “x”, can we please remove all the people who play the game in the style of "y"please?
or we could go plan B and remove all the people who don’t care about money cause they just ruin the fun that those who do
From the fact that you’re comparing gameplay in ff9 to gw2 is a clear indicator you’re all up for cookie cutter experiences all the time. As much as I enjoyed ff9 I won’t be revisiting it anytime soon.
Trash mobs are called that for a reason – they’re uninspired, unrewarding and boring.
GW2 gameplay is pretty open and that’s what makes it great. How exactly is killing this really tough pack of wolves to move past them rewarding when you can sneak past them or run past?
You’re comparing the world of GW2 too relatively to our world. Crudely speaking I’d say you’re tying down the fantasy with strict standards. Personally I don’t see how having non magic elements make it less immersive. This just says not everyone can use magic or not all the time for everything, and the Charr hate it in particular.
You can’t use real world rationality in a fictional world.
They just don’t go together.
Search and rescue is not a true Res skill. Just makes your pet do a F revive as per normal as if your character had done it, and is not instant. Note: Pets revive at a considerably slower pace than players. Also I’m pretty sure losing your pet isn’t exactly a positive thing. Maybe if other classes had to give up their special toolbar function (f1-f4 etc) to do the res slowly like the pet, it would be plausible.
Why is inefficiently ressing players from the dead state unacceptable? You have downed state for that. Fail to revive your ally within that frame and you have a punishment, simple as that.
These skills are meant to be clutch skills for tough situations. Being able to revive anybody when dead just means that the skill becomes a must have during tough battles. Right now you would question it. Is it worth giving up X skill for this revive skill?
All bosses have a set attack pattern. They don’t suddenly a learn a new skill halfway through the battle. The few that have ‘phases’ make it pretty obvious they change phases.
Like you said experienced players can do it without dying, so this is obviously an issue of a learning curve that you have yet to surpass. Simply l2p.
Personally I don’t care, but it’s a BOSS fight. It’s meant to be challenging, and the designers want it that way. Revive skills are there for you to use when the boss is pummeling a downed guy and you either don’t want to risk being nearby or cannot enter the area safely to revive.
There are also quite a few obvious consequences to be seen in the realm of PvP and WvW.
Hi, before I elaborate on this I would like to share my experience with GW2 Support (or ncsoft support)
I first had to go through support when my account was compromised. This issue was fixed 5 days later (it was a busy time for support then) and I am very grateful for that.
However after that issue I have only encountered issues that have made me feel that ArenaNet/NC Soft were much more antagonising than whatever hacker who had access to my account ever did.
Starting mid November I have faced a plethora of issues which have forced me away from the game.
Issues I’ve faced
Terminations – Once for botting/mods and once for RMT
Suspensions – For account issues, telling me my grace period is over, blocked for anauthorized credit card activity
Support responses – Either several support officers are simply automated, or they are simply incompetent and highly unhelpful as well as frustrating. A huge thank you to the few who responded to me that did not belong in either category.
Consequences for me
Missed out on day one of lost shores event
Had to buy another Christmas gift to replace an account purchase
Blocked from my own account for 13 days not including the incident where it was compromised. 28 if I include the account meant to be a gift.
To conclude:
Outside of incident where my account was compromised, it seems that 100% of the problems I have faced are a result of extremely tough and harsh measures being brought in to combat fraud, gold sellers etc.
To use an analogy this feels like trawling. Yes you are catching many of your ‘fish’ with your methods, but plenty of non-targets get caught and suffer as well.
So my question is -
Will there be any consideration for us who get punished for no reason? We may (fortunately?) have access to our accounts once again but otherwise it is a frustrating and bitter experience.
Or will we just be treated as necessary sacrifices and swept aside?
I have put in over 1000 hours into GW2, and am putting in more every day I have access to my account. However everyday I feel like I’ve been cheated of something, even feeling afraid another termination/suspension is in the works for me.
Well my main issue is that support doesn’t get back to me, I’ve been really gracious about it too. If I weren’t vigilant about this i’d know nothing at all.
Since it’s come to this I’m waiting a day more then giving up and purchasing another account. My experience with support has been really bad so far, this is the third time I’ve needed help and each experience is worse than the last.
I can’t expect Gaile or a forum mod to do everything either. They try their best but there’s only so much that they can do.
Thanks
Hi, I’ve submitted a ticket 8 days ago and posted about it here before, and would really like to speed up this process.
The ticket I filed is 121217-001136
Gaile has stated in the 3 day or older thread that it has been followed up on 4 hours ago as of this post (not sure what that actually means, haven’t received an update for the ticket)
I did some looking up of my own and I believe that the result of my ticket would be: The charge authorization failed. You were not charged or were refunded.
I have checked my CC statement and I have not been billed, now that I know the problem is it possible for my ticket to be fast forwarded? It’s already Christmas (evening where I am) and this issue has been the cause of much grief. I won’t go so far as to ask for compensation, just that a solution be provided asap.
That method is not the most effective process there is, it might prevent account deletion by accident. But the hackers can clearly use that to delete your character, so all in all a process that is ineffective.
That’s exactly what it is: an accidental deletion prevention measure. Same thing happens when you try to delete a legendary.
Account compromisation isn’t even a factor here, there are many safeguards you can take to prevent that.
To quote:
Sure I can tell you what this is about. You see, over the weekend of December 15th, a problem developed where a small number of players who unlocked Black Lion Chests received two rather than the intended three items per chest. The issue was corrected with a build on Monday and all chests are functioning properly now.
To ensure that players get all their chest rewards, we checked to see who opened Black Lion Chests and was affected by this issue during the period in question. We discovered your account during that investigation so we sent you the Black Lion Chests via in-game mail.
No worries — it’s all good!

3 Days ago I got a response telling me that the issue would be elevated to a Senior member of the Payment Support Team to further assist me, have not heard from support since.
Thanks
Hi Moderator
Thanks for clarifying that. It just makes me all more disappointed as it looks like we’ll miss exactly what I got the account for: the Wintersday Events.
My experience with GW2 has been a really bumpy downhill ride. I can only hope support can fix this on time and things can only get better.
Thanks again.
Got an account for a family member for the Wintersday (AwwGee.7695) event and not 2 days later it’s been suspended for an account issue. It was the digital edition.
A ticket has been submitted, but the end of Tixx in Divinity’s reach is nearing and we don’t want to miss the reward and achievement (we can do gameplay on my account since it’s fine). [—-001:000305:32512—-]
In fact I’ve been falsely banned for botting before which is the main reason why I’m bringing this up on the forums – support takes forever to respond and sometimes it seems they don’t even bother reading through the ticket. My account was eventually restored, but I missed lost shores day 1. Sucked it up then but this is really frustrating.
That account can’t even use the forums.
Please fix this. I was even all optimistic on the event an what ArenaNet had been doing with patches, and this just makes me lose faith all over again.
You could have easily solved this by feigning interest in his armor and asking him to link it.
I dislike the look of the exotic heavy armor. With the exception of the skirt and helm (which I don’t turn on visuals for), the rest of the set I use on my guardian is transmuted from lower levelled equipment . Heck I have a couple of transmuted weapons with lower level skins too.
I don’t really see how you can make the assumption that not many people would transmute non exotic onto exotics, that’s just your personal taste.
I’m assuming none of the other members had story mode completed.
Instance ownership can be transferred as long as another member has explorable unlocked, more often than once I’ve had DCs happen and still have room to look for a new member from either friends or guildies.
Have been getting this code and getting kicked from the game since the last maintenance which is a real pain, as well as bad lag spikes (have been running smoothly before this)
Also got an error 42:0:9001:3928 (might have more but I didn’t take note of all of them)
What I’ve done so far:
Did a Diagnostic
Did a Port Test
Opened ports 80, 443, 6112, 6600
Hope I can get some help with this, thanks in advance.
