There’s no real best support – they all do different things.
With that in mind though it seems the class you want to roll is either a guardian or a mesmer.
Guardians are pretty straightforward with their support options – direct boon application and maintainence, and depending how you build can provide support in other ways.
Mesmers are more roundabout in boon application and need better timing, but they are alot more versatile in what they do, its more of an aggressive support role.
Depending on what kind of support you would like to be both can fit your needs. If you’d like something more in depth drop me a PM and I’ll advise as best I can.
Your only choice is transmutation really. Karma armor can’t be salvaged because of some barriers they placed regarding converting karma into gold worth some time back, which includes salvage. (notice how you can’t sell to vendors either)
try running with a focus and using the 2nd activation of the wall for a vacuum effect. Once you get familiar with it to pull mobs into 1 area, you probably won’t be using any other offhand. (that and it gives a very addictive swiftness buff)
Like Ethics has stated, you can only jump 1 tier at a time.
So your uncommons (blue) will go up to masterworks (green) first, depending on your luck it may or may not upgrade. However long haul testing has shown that the rate to upgrade evened out at ~20%.
It’s specific to certain mobs. So far I have only experienced this with ranged mobs who have a special condition that comes with their attacks to warn you that they are targeting you.
These are:
The CM riflemen, they will deal heavy damage if you’re moving when they shoot you (so stop moving then)
Risen Deadeyes in Arah dungeon. These deal more damage the further you are from them. (get closer then)
Transmuted items are completely unique items that lose any special properties of the original items. Specifically, this means that:
Legendary precursors that have been transmuted will not be recognized by the Mystic Forge.
I would blieve this applies to the Lidless Eye and Eye of Rodgort as well.
Also it seems like people treat condition ranger as exclusively a autoattack bleed machine with shortbow crossfire.
Shortbow still has poison volley and crippling shot gives your pets next 3 attacks a bleed.
Axe, torch and dagger all come with reliable conditions.
Traps are great.
You have a pet that can deal condition damage.
How are necros not good at conditions? Have you ever played necro ? Obviously not.
OP, necro IS the conditon class, if u like dot play necro.
oh? the question is have you ever played the other classes?
No access to burns. Slow bleed stacking. Poison is non stackable. How is that good condition damage? Reliable yes, great no.
Mesmer seems to be muchs tronger in PvP at the moment, but is quite difficult in PvE (at least in the beginning). Necros are really viable in PvE, being the most tanky scholar profession and having reliable access to specific dots. They can also turn conditions into boons and vice versa, too
Mesmers are actually strong in both. They are one of the more desired professions to be grouped up with because of incredible utility and flexibility, without having to sacrifice significant damage to do so. Turning conditions into boons isn’t that impressive really with a 60s cd on that, and the main use of that is to remove conditions, the boons are a bonus. Check out mesmers Null Field. 36s cd when traited into.
my d/d ele has access to 7 out of 11 conditions.
Out of those 7, 2 do damage. OP wants DoT. Ele has access to conditions but is sadly unable to use them all at the same time. They are flexible but not 100% so.
They’re not called dry bones, but they have the same model. Just go preview the armors that the vendors are selling and you will see.
Are your underwater weapons of the same rarity as your land weapons?
I think the main problem people have with underwater is the additional dimension of depth they have to deal with. It makes mobs harder to group up and aoe, so control skills become very important in underwater combat.
Personally I enjoy the underwater combat. The way it works is similar to how JPs work. The better you are at navigating JPs, the more familiar you will find underwater combat (navigation and stuff, probably much easier to use a wasd + mouse keybind to do)
The main gripe I have really is the underwater skills. Yes it makes sense that certain skills can’t be used, but then it should just be morphed into a form that allows it to be.
I have a ranger specced to maximise trap utility, but it becomes useless underwater for instance.
Actually mesmers handle clone production very well with just one trait. So useful it’s I would consider it mandatory.
In fact I consider mesmer good against multiple mobs, it’s just a matter of learning the class and skills and knowing how strong of control mesmer has.
Warriors are your cookie cutter tanky melee dps
Guardians are great (they are tanky and can absorb projectiles)
Mesmer is useful all the time
The rest are more niche, but still great. Unless you’re an elitist I suggest playing something that suits your playstyle and you enjoy.
I’d say mesmer, ranger and engineer are the most reliable when you want condition damage.
Lets take a look at conditions.
Bleed = basic
Burn = non stacking, damage is worth around 7 stacks of bleed
Poison = non stacking, damage is worth 2 stacks of bleed and cuts heals by 1/3
Confusion = stacking, damage is contextual (based on opponent)
Mesmer has access to all 4 conditions. Poison is very limited here. Your bread and butter condition is staff which is somewhat random. With traits you get much stronger at lvl 40 and 60 respectively. (bouncing attacks, cooldown reduction)
Combat is staff is pretty unique and may take some getting used to. It seems to be a long ranged weapon but it’s actually much stronger in close proximity. Also very strong bleed application with the trait that lets clones bleed on criticals, especially multihit phantasms like the warden (12 hits)
Ranger has access to 3 conditions and can maintain them with careful skill application and traps (also has reliable access to chill, very strong non-damaging condition to have) Swapping between shortbow and axe/dagger or axe/torch, you have some really good condition application. Trap condition rangers are pretty straightforward to use, get the trait that makes traps ranged if you want to maintain distance.
Engineers have access to all 4 conditions as well. Dual pistols provide you with ways to apply these reliably, then you can swap over to a kit for condition stacking. Easiest way to stack conditions is through flamethrower application and the bleeding trait (30% chance to bleed on crit) as the high hit rate of the flamethrower does this really well (10 hits across 2.25 secs on normal autoattack). Engineers are quite tedious to use though, and they’re going through a phase where stuff is getting changed. Grenade have a similar effect through sheer number of grenades thrown.
Necros aren’t really that good at stacking conditions. Maintaining them isn’t a problem of course.
There’s no real best gun class really, it all depends on your preference.
The class that probably sees the most use of guns are thieves – pistolss are thieves reliable source of single target ranged damage.
You can try out mesmer if you haven’t yet, they can use guns as an offhand and summon pistol phantasms.
dodge through aoe or aoe fields, they’re great.
Its a bug that sometimes happens when you swap one utility for another, rather annoying.
The 90 second cooldown was probably from the previous utility u had in that slot, and it triggered.
when you look away your targeting will stop or switch. If you’re looking around the field while in combat try doing it with the left mouse button instead of the right (move your camera but not the character itself)
It’s all about luck and RNG.
If you want to do it go or all in or not at all. Takes balls when you put in quite abit and get nothing.
I have 2 friends who forged their dawns (this was awhile back when it was ~350g). One did it in 40g and the other took 300.
No. You would hit for 1000.
Critical damage has a base multiplier of 1.5 (150%)
To be hitting 600 on vanilla your base damage would be 400.
With 100% your multiplier would hit 2.5 (150% + 100%)
Giving you a final of 1000 (400 * 2.5)
Hope that answers your questions and any future enquiries.
The people on the server don’t determine how laggy it is to you, your isp does.
There are no ‘asian’ servers. All are located in NA or EU. There are only servers with more ‘asian’ presence. Moving to another server won’t address lag.
Take screenshots before the run and tell the party you did. It’s a workaround deterrent but not much else we can do as of now.
Personally I didn’t have a problem with Orr. Some areas were really badly infested and challenging to get past, but it’s all about awareness and knowledge of the mob patterns.
If you didn’t have useful utilities or weapon sets equipped then prepare to be mobbed when you make a mistake is all.
1. Purely cosmetic.
2. Huh what? Karma, dungeon token, gold and wvw tokens all give you access to exotics. Want a different look? Then work for your cosmetics.
3. Karma sets cost 240k and is too expensive? I work 9-6 (not including travel time and the like) and know several others who do, we can still invest some time into the game we enjoy and have a life. Exactly how casual are you?
Personally I turn all back items off, they block the view of my characters. (which is a huge issue for many helmets in the heavy and medium armor range… god do they look ugly)
Of course I hope that in the future they get more customization options and we have more look options for the backslot. Then I can turn them on again.
Yes it is entirely possible.
If you’ve never tried out dungeons before though you should or you’re missing out on quite abit, perhaps ask friends or guildies who are helpful to bring you along, just tell them you’re new to the experience and to guide you.
It’s all about the learning curve really, once you know what to do they go like clockwork.
Multiple alts here and I want to love them all equally.
I understand some altoholics are fine with the way things are, but then there is no reason for you to be here and play down the issue for those who care. All of my alts are geared out best as I can, have the looks I want them to have (transmutations, race and faction culturals, unique exotics)
The ascended limited to dailies/monthlies is really frustrating so I hope there will be addresses to this issue soon.
No one here is asking for free stuff for our alts, I’m sure we’re all fine with putting in more effort to gear up our alts. But laurels are being artificially limited and is pretty horrible as it is.

Rampage doesn’t exist either.
Then there’s the kitten MF stats.
Not sure exactly when the timer resets.
If you log off your char after doing a jp and log back in after it resets it should be there for you to open though. (have done this some chars that I don’t use so often)
cooldowns are there for non-abuse purposes and will stay in place even when paid transfers kick in.
Sorry to say this but you should have done some reading up on server transfers if you are so concerned about wvwing with friends.
Gotta feel bad for engies. The best looking legendary on them (well out of 2… let’s not mention the pistol) is a sniper rifle fired from the hip and is generally more effective in short range.
Also engies using a rifle miss out on 2nd sigil on kits.
I’m also pretty sure some of the fractal skins have better animations than certain legendaries. Some exotics too.
What I want to see is an Eternity, then, I will be very very impressed.
Have a friend who has it. Nothing impressive at all, visually it’s identical to the 2 before it and changes based on time of day.
In fact she sorta regretted it because she lost the footsteps when she upgraded.
Leveling is hard?
The grind comes from endgame lack of content is all. I’m pretty sure these complaints are coming from players who already have invested substantial time into the game.
Sure there’s some things to do that I’m sure every1 else has listed. But it gets repetitive after awhile.
london? gmt +8? Is it really necessary to spoonfeed these simple things?
You can expect the patch to launch:
Before 8 am 29/1/2013 in London.
Before 4 pm 29/1/2013 in gmt+ 8 areas.
I’d say to get into mesmer.
CC choices are excellent, flexible and useful utility. Invisibility skills and invul which gives you the option to be more glassy.
Clones/phantasms are seem kinda pseudo pettish but once you get into the class they’re more like an extension of your skills as well as a resource system for shatters, you won’t even think about AI.
Mesmers start out slow though, since at low levels mobs are much more straightforward and straight damage > utility. Greatsword and sword/focus or sword/sword should be great until later levels where mob mechanics become more varied and you can experiment with different weapons types.
Yeahh lets have my ranger longbow pushback a bunch of mobs 1 by 1 into 1 place so my team can aoe them better. Ele can do that too with blowout.
Or you could have a guardian do that with gs then seal them in with a hammer.
Or a mesmer vacuum the lot with focus and immobilize with sword.
Damage, support and control. You complain about how simple the game is and yet you’ve conveniently categorized everything in combat to these 3.
Damage? Ranged, melee, direct damage, condition damage, mixed damage, type of condition, single target, aoe?
Support? offensive/defensive boons, fields, supports that work almost exclusively for melee (symbols) heals
Control? projectile reflection/absorbtion, knockdowns, debuffs, condition control, boon removal, damage mitigation, heal reduction, slows?
Each class can excel at certain things if they choose to and no 2 classes have the exact same type of damage/support/control.
Elementalist has a much higher skill cap.
Guardian excels at teamplay and support/utility status as well as being a tank. Trying to deal heavy dps on this will end out lackluster though.
Ele has good aoe and dps (not as much as thief) and also ability to provide some support in the form of fields, boons and access to direct heals, though not as versatile as mesmer. Also a rather high skill cap.
Engineer is a pretty interesting class really. They can spec to do quite a variety of roles but after that they become less flexible and tied to the traits they have. The tool belt mechanic is worth messing around with and looking into.
Necros actually have quite a bit besides the zombie squad thing, they are heavy duty and heavy on condition controls.
All in all I suggest checkin out their playstyles in pvp and experimenting around to see what you like.
I saw Eclair Donut right there. 8/10 for delicious desserts. (not sure if it has origins elsewhere though)
David Ahred sounds boring but passable, 6.
My ele is Telacia Zyanya.
Telacia was derived from the back half of Xiuhtecuhtli, an aztec god of fire. the A at the end was to feminise the name.
Zyanya is also mesoamerican, either nahuatl or zapotec in origin. it means always or forever.
It’s the new heavy class Anet will be putting in soon (notice we only have warrior and guardians now)
Check the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp05edmWjV4&hl=en-GB&gl=SG
They’re going to be sort of a tactical gameplay class with more focus on ranged weapons than the other 2 classes.
Portals.
Or in this context asura gates.
pretty sure the options non-skimpy outfits far outnumber those that are.
What so you’re saying eles are op because they can maintain their boons and you’re not doing anything to remove them?
Remove a protection boon and suddenly they take 150% of the damage they were taking before. Crazy huh
Battle has an unlisted 9-10 second internal cooldown.
I would think the internal cooldown is intended, it’s been known for awhile.
Maybe you can describe the playstyle and experience you’re looking at so we can better introduce one to you. Or a role. We don’t have a holy trinity but some classes undoubtedly perform better at some things than others.
Report those PMs so that they can be banned.
Regarding the ban, while the forums have many gaile and other helpful people, they cannot do anything about your issue (less than 72 hours old) and you will have to wait for support on it.
If you ticket is more than 72 hours without a resolution, post here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Tickets-for-Review-3-days-and-older-merged/page/68 so that Gaile can follow up and try to speed up the process.
Based on my experience:
I would advise you 2 to check your credit card/bank statements. The finance department may have refunded your guild wars purchase automatically on your termination therefore leading to a disabling (albeit allowing for a short time of play before doing so).
The error message related to this is usually on the lines of ‘Account has been suspended due to an account issue’ However there will be cases where the message tells you that you have been terminated for X reason, in this case RMT.
If you have indeed been refunded, open a support ticket telling them you have an idea of what is the issue with your account and request for your account to be released so you can buy and apply a new serial code to it. This may help speed up the process by letting your ticket be forwarded to the relevant team faster to deal with the issue.
If I have it right arenanet will disable accounts that they believe could be compromised or in use for activities that violate the ToC.
With some inference I would suspect that the group was involved in botting activities (some pretty telltale signs from what you mentioned) and so was banned accordingly.
Since you hadn’t been around for awhile you would probably have botlike activities recorded on your account prior to your password change. Anet might not have known about their actions, or it was probably on review before, so you got caught in the net as well.
Of course you just restored your account, but did you explicitly state that your account was hacked, or did you just want a password reset. If you did, it might also not be immediately linked to botting. I would think that account restoration support and the bot catcher are seperate entities and so there wouldn’t be a warning sign on your account to state that it was innocent and to ignore it in the case of an infraction (abusable)
Therefore I can understand your frustration and anger but as you can see here, there is a perfectly logical process to how this happened.
Just put in a new support ticket and I’m sure it’ll be restored soon.
Takes all of 3 seconds to go into heart of the mists. Seems like you’ve conveniently ignored the posts that ask why not do this when it’s a perfectly fine solution.
besides your first reason, the rest are 1. optional 2. non-urgent.
sounds like afk macros to me (with better english than previous posters who asked for the exact same thing)
Lolz bled and poisoned a ghost to death. It would definitely make AC less of a cakewalk then it is now for sure.
It’s a valid opinion just like yours is, there is no need for sarcasm.
Yeah more like lolz slashed and shot arrows into a ghost to death. Wait what?
