I just helped a guild on another server with their guild bounty, but received no commendations for it. I was in said guild, and in a party in the same map as per the latest patch notes. I did do it previously yesterday but on my server with a different guild, but I was under the impression that it was per guild, not overall. Does that only apply to guilds on your home server or is there a daily reset of commendation rewards per guild? Just looking for some clarification here.
I like the blink+dodge, f2, mirror images, then dodge+f1 combo myself. Really surprises most people but can be hard to pull off.
I’ll definitely be there.
A 5% increase to every single piece of armor, weapon, and trinket available gives player wearing full Ascended Berserker gear 13% more damage than someone who has Exotic Berserker gear.
Please, stop pretending that the difference in stats isn’t significant.
You’re welcome to believe that differences in skill will help make up for that gap. And I’ll agree with you to some extent, because it’s a fair point. I’ll even go so far as to say that you don’t have to be decked in full Exotic gear, much less full Ascended, at this point in the game. Again, fair point.
But let’s stop fabricating this fantasy that there isn’t a statistically significant difference between full Ascended gear and full Exotic gear. Because there is. It’s an undeniable mathematical fact.
It isn’t significant because we only have accessories right now.
And they’re in the process of adding the rest of them.
Once they do, get back to me.
In the mean time, it’s insignificant.
1? No, but 6 accessories will make a huge difference, especially if it’s celestial or berserker gear. The reason isn’t the raw stat increase. It’s the % increases. A 6/6 Ascended Berserker will destroy a 6/6 Exotics Berserker in raw damage. That % crit damage makes a difference. As I gain more pieces, I can definitely see it.
I like ascended gear, but to say it’s an insignificant difference from exotics is quite silly.
Mine is sitting on 99% Crit Damage with all Berserker gear.
You’re missing something then. 20 Dueling & Zerker gear should give you 100%.
How so? I’m 4/6 Berserker Ascended and full berserker exotics. I’m at 99% too. Unless sigils come into play here.
iZerker doing 1/3rd the damage, that is quite comical. I havnt noticed a single drop in damage at all since patch. Im still averaging 5k crits in pvp, and have seen 7k+, it has been this way for months, nothing has changed. My guildie who mains a mesmer says he hasnt noticed a change either.
Only 5k? o.O
It definitely does more damage, and the devs have already confirmed it in the bug forum thread.
Average of 5k…
Please procede to tell me you average 8k
4-6, though that was before it was bugged. Has anyone tested it out yet? I’m not sure if todays patch fixed it or not.
1. Anet claimed that they wanted their gear to be quick, easy and grind free to get regarding stats. It’s the same way it worked in gw1, its how it used to work in gw2, and a LOT of us feel like they basically betrayed this trust.
2. Ascended gear IS better than exotics, parties will more likely take someone in exotics than rares, and ascended than exotics.
3. Ascended gear is no more a choice than exotic gear was. Are you still running around in rares? No? Then you know exactly why people will basically have to run around in ascended.Difficulty != choice
Treadmill != good gameplay
Anet != very trustworthy
What people want isn’t always what people get. Even ANet isn’t above this absolute truth. They may have wanted to keep things that way, but for whatever reason (NCsoft, betrayal, UFO’s, other MMO’s, jesus) they were unable to. I can’t fault them for that, because I don’t recall them saying THIS IS HOW IT WILL BE I PROMISE. They wanted, but did not get. That extends to the players who also wanted but in the same fashion did not get.
I for one like ascended items. It’s not forced on anyone unless a part of them deep down wants to have ‘the best stuff’ in which case, that’s more of a personal dilemma honestly.

A lot of my names were taken too, but mostly the single names I wanted to use. When I added a last name of sentimental value, I was able to make more characters and get past that.
Greatsword is great just not for shatter builds. Number 3 skill is trash they need to just make it where it is used on your target instead of an aoe circle. Otherwise nice damage looks cool great for phantasm builds and mantra builds.
Staff just has way better utility then a greatsword. And actually the damage can be the same if not better. Most mesmers that use staff think oh conditions! Lets use condition damage lol so wrong. Power and crit crit dmg is way better on a staff
Lol?
GS is amazing for shatter mesmers. You will easily do more damage with GS as opposed to other weapons. Also, GS3 isn’t as bad as people think. Here’s an idea: use both. I do, and I destroy every bit of content in this game. Things get hairy
? I switch to staff and get defensive. You are also forgetting that Berserker has cripple, which is extremely useful for keeping a boss/large clusters of enemies slowed. Warlock will pull better single target damage but it does no AoE damage. You must be playing it wrong, because power/crit/perc is super strong on a greatsword.
Change it please. Make it so guesters:
1. Can get 1 chest from 1 guest server, but no others from that server.
2. Are put into an overflow before natives of the server they’re guesting on. It’s terrible that people who have been there day 1 are being kicked out of their own events because of guesters.
The berserker was by far our most powerful clone and even after the nerf it still is. The bigger problem IMO is that the other clones don’t do enough damage; its obvous; just look at the fact no one ever uses the other clones (in PvE)
Everyone knows shattering is terribly weak in PvE, so we rely on clones to do most of our damage. The problem is the damage that the rest of the clones do is negligible.. The only other clone that doesnt decent damage is the warden. The problem is the warden stays in place making it almost useless.
Not sure what Mesmer you’ve been playing, but my shatters are far from weak. I’ve almost hit 20k damage with a full mind wrack combo. Also, my IWarlock easily does more then my Berserker in group settings. On good days, Swordsman will probably do more too though it will vary. They’re far from weak, and Berserker, while doing lots of good AoE damage, isn’t the strongest. Fact is, a stationary Warden will do more damage then any of the others unless the boss has enough conditions to let Warlock slip ahead. My highest Warlock Crit was around 11k, and I am a shatter spec.
On topic, I hope we get an answer for this tomorrow. To whoever said it’s missing the fourth attack, it’s not. It just seems to not do all of it’s attacks as often as it did before.
Karma is stupid easy to get. People would have full ascended sets within hours by tanking jugs/drops with karma boosts on. No thanks. I want a new system for ascended items too, but not one that’s so trivial and easy mode.
I would enjoy an answer on this too. It feels out of place honestly. Zerkers do great damage but have a long cooldown between attacks. I think the patch messed something up honestly.
No. At least, not that way. If you could have a secondary class to switch to, that’s cool. But mixing any kind of skills will create an even bigger gap between classes that are balanced and ones that aren’t. Especially if elites are considered too. Imagine 5 warriors with time warp, stealth abilities from thief or defensive abilities from guardians, the list goes on. It would be broken.
every1 likes Tybalt I do to but Forgal was way funnier. “I’ll old man u into the ground” hahaha oh Forgal.
Forgal was the best. Tybalt was cool though. I miss Forgal…I got pretty involved with the story when he was introduced. When that quest ended, I was sad.
Guests should be placed in overflow before local server members. I have no problem with people trying to do things on our server, as it is a great server and people are friendly. But when guesting is causing TCers to lose out on their own events, that is a problem. It’s a problem for any other top 10 server who is being overloaded too. Guests should go to the overflow first. I think that’s fair.
Dunno if it’s a W3 issue but my Zerker still does awesome damage. The whirl finisher was removed, but I don’t see that affecting it’s damage any.
I cant say I’ve seen this. My iZerk still does 4-6k normally, unless it spawns in a stupid place. I’ll have to check again though just to be sure.
I agree. Yet, a lot of people feel it’s necessary to get them. A few reasons why, I believe, is because of past MMO experiences. Without that extra item, you won’t get past the boss. You won’t get to the juicy end. So you NEED those extra stats. There’s no arguing that ascended items have better stats then exotics. But the only content that requires them, and it’s not even the stats here, it’s just the infusion slot) is Fractals. So why the anger?
Conflict. A part of people want them, but they also don’t want to go get them, or they don’t like gear treadmills (even though this isn’t one, see World of Warcraft on what a real gear treadmill is) or whatever. People will complain saying they don’t want them, but on some level they do. If they didn’t care, if they really didn’t want them while being content with their exotics, they wouldn’t complain.
I’m not saying ascended items are the greatest. They did break Jewelcrafter a fair bit for example. But honestly I wish that some players would work out things for themselves then come to terms if they really want them or not. If you don’t want them, don’t get them. People who want them, like fractals, or get off on numbers will get them.
…Yeah, is what this little guy ought to be renamed. These use the same ‘skeleton’ as Karkas do. I can tell simply by the movements. Still, they’re really awesome looking. This mini just became my favorite.
SPIDERTRODE.
Lol, if its like the last time this happened then yes.
I read somewhere that they would normalize other achievements to give them. Hoping that’s soon. I realize that gating them into the daily/monthly is meant to keep people playing, but it’s still a pain. :/
Most importantly, it’s not fun.
When is that happening? I feel that a lot of the anger you are getting and the amount you will keep getting ANet could easily be balanced out if there were more ways to obtain Laurels. It’s been said that they would add them for achievements as well, which depending on the amount, would justify the prices in my opinion. The question is when? I have no problems joining a guild to get the ascended items I want. But people have other characters too, and gearing them will take awhile.
Any time frame on when we can expect more ways of obtaining laurels?
I use all ruby orbs. Though, top damage actually comes from a full scholar set. I have a hard time staying above 90% health though, so Ruby Orbs are the next best thing. What’s your crit damage at? While chance is important, damage is also important.
My iBerserker typically does 4-6k damage, but she has done in the 7-8k range too. It really depends on mob movement, and if each hit crits. If they all crit, it’s not art all uncommon for me to see 6-8k damage. If the mob is against a wall, the damage is even more then that. Using positioning to your advantage will increase the damage of iBerserker exceptionally. At the same time, it has a chance of doing only decent damage too. Just depends. My Warlock can do much more depending on conditions; I’ve seen it do over 9k and very close to 10k in a large group setting.
My GS1 typically hits for 2k as well, but I have seen it go over 3k when all hits crit. On a good Mind Wrack Crit (When they all go off at once, thus triggering compounding power) I can average 3.5 or even 4k per shatter. It makes for very very potent burst. If I use Dazzling minor trait (Daze makes opponents vulnerable), the damage is probably much higher then that.
All in all, I am happy with my damage. I run full Berserkers Gear (95% Crit Damage, 51% chance, about 3407 attack without food) and if I constantly shartter or have the opportunity to to do, I can even pull aggro from warriors or toughness oriented builds. What I really like is seeing a mobs health go down from a full shatter. Lets me know that I’m doing good damage.
To chime in from a RP Standpoint, I thought of it this way: My Avenger was corrupted already, so I have no risk of getting corrupted. I also really like the RL Lodestone idea as well. ‘’They attached to my sword, and before I knew it…". Combine a few different reasoning’s, and you can make it work in my opinion.
I use it every other battle or whenever it’s off of cooldown. I find it very nicely compliments a 1 illusion or 4 illusion shatter combo. It’s great for tagging mobs in my opinion too, since it’s almost instant. The root is seriously minimal, compared to other skills I’ve used in this game. Boon Removing is a nice tough, especially for enemies who get that one annoying boon such as Protection. I honestly love Mind Stab.
If they change it, I hope they keep the animation the same. It looks super epic. I absolutely disagree with whoever said it should be like Illusionary Wave. No. Please no. Having 2 skills with the same animation on the same weapon would suck.
@Ursan, yes. For now. When Ascended if fully rolled out then legendaries are going to get a stat inscrease to be a bump higher than Ascended. This has been the plan for them for forever now.
As of this moment they are vanity items. A year from (maybe longer?) now they will be best in slot items.
They will be BiS together with Ascended, just like they are BiS together with exotics now.
So they will continue to be vanity items.
Source? Last I heard, Legendaries will be bumped to Ascended level stats, not above them. So when ascended weapons are released, legendary weapons will have their stats increased to match that new tier.
That is exactly what he said.
Legendary as far as stated by anet, will share same stats as ascended. With no further stat increase
I quoted the wrong person. x.x

I’d switch Mesmer and Ele, also move Warrior up. Other then that, I agree.
Race: Human.
Gender: Female.
Class/AT: Mesmer/Light.
Armor:
This is a forehead covering type of hairstyle that covers most of the forehead. Now, the hairstyle I have clips severely into my characters model while running, to where I see the bald skeleton underneath my actual hair model. It’s noticeable from the side too, as my head looks caved in and abnormal.
The issue I think is, the hairstyle flows backwards in animation but it goes too far. My hairstyle does this even when the helmet isn’t on.

GS/Staff for leveling is my advice. You will have wonderful offense, and decent defense with this combo while building power/precision. Something to note though, is that Mesmers don’t really flesh themselves out until level 40 or so. Until then, the experiences you have may feel lesser or more difficult in comparison to other classes. It’s the traits, mainly. Mesmer traits take awhile to get to, but they’re very, very good.
Alternatively, if you absolutely need movespeed, Sword/Focus in offhand works well too but doesn’t fill in the defensive gaps you would have running damage oriented gear/stat combinations. If you want some more advice, I can whisper you in game.
in reality you can get the ammulet in 20 days, right? monthly gives 10 laurels, so that cuts the ‘grind’ by 33.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333n%, yeah?
In a gaming forum you should always follow the Leeroy Jenkins convention and say “.33…repeating, of course”. I don’t do dungeons so it’s actually 30 days for me. But, yes, for those who enjoy dungeoneering it is 20 days.
As of now, it takes awhile to get ascended amulets. I’m buying mine today once the daily comes back, but I must say that if you feel this is a steep grind, you would not enjoy other games. I worked for months in some other games just to get one piece of gear or bridge a few levels. This game is TAME compared to games that have come before it, as well as games out now. The gear grind in this game barely exists in comparison to games like FFXI/XIV, Lineage 2, WoW, etc etc. Furthermore, since when is daily a grind? Shoot, I can do my daily on a fresh level 1 character. It’s easy. The only thing it takes is time, it doesn’t take grinding effort like material farming/dungeon running.
Also, the Laurel system is in a beginning stage right now. Once they add them for achievements, getting more laurels will be more feasible for gearing other characters and the like.
Just my 2c. This isn’t my first rodeo so my experiences are likely different then others, but compared to other MMO’s, this game is extremely tame on gear progression/grinding.
I could only see a small difference with whatever settings this came with, and it wouldn’t allow me to edit the settings file for some reason. The difference was weird too, just makes everything more…jagged. FXAA looked much better in my opinion. The program just feels wonky to use. The configurator didn’t apply any of my settings when I was changing them and reloading them in the game.
It’s because I didn’t have Dx9. I keep forgetting that Windows 7-8 doesn’t come with it by standard. I’ll get those files then try again.
This doesn’t work for me. I get a dx error at the launcher if I try to use this program. :/
Does the 8350 run this game well? I just want 50-60 fps with reflections set to all, and everything high. What resolution do you run on? I updated my BIOS today, and OCed. I get 40 fps at a minimum and 60 now, but I had to turn reflections on to sky only. Thanks for the help guys.
It’s not so much that GS isn’t viable in a condi build— it’s more the fact that you NEED to run a staff. Also— if you’re doing any mesmer build without a 1h sword/offhand—- you’re doing it wrong.
Thus— no. Don’t use a GS if you’re attempting to use a condi build.
Uhm. No.
You don’t need to use S/X. I personally run Gs/Staff, and it lets me do wonderful damage while supporting my party with Chaos Storm as well as giving myself more slipperiness. Not to mention, in a group setting where a boss has tons of conditions stacked on, Warlock will do as much, if not more then Swordsman. I’d rather give everyone Aegis for 5 seconds then anything offhands can offer. Those frontline classes? I think they’d agree.
My point is: no, you don’t need to have S/X. It’s nice for people who like it, but it doesn’t offer as much to a team as a staff does in my opinion.
My system:
AMD FX-6100 processor (6 cores) (no OC)
EVGA Geforce GTX 670 FTW 4g VRM.
8G Corsair Ram OC@ 1600.
I run the game at 1080p, and today I upgraded to said video card above from a dated EVGA GTX 470. I thought this would allow me to run every area at 60 FPS or more, reliably on high settings. But it doesn’t. Turning LOD Distance to High and Shadows to High, the only setting changes from my 470, causes GW2 to run barely any better then it did before. I get 40-50 FPS in normal areas but at times it can dip as low as 30. In tight corners though, it shoots up dramatically. All my settings are on high. High Textures, Blur Field, and Highest Character Textures are on. Reflections are set to All.
I’m wondering if I need to OC my CPU, or if there’s a trick or workaround I haven’t found yet for nVidia users. I’m using the latest drivers (V310) if that has anything to do with it, I will use a beta driver if it will let me run this game closer to max. I set the game.exe priority to high in task manager, and did a few other suggestions I’ve read on the forums to no avail. Is this an issue with my setup, or is it just GW2?
Any help is appreciated.

Arale Gray. The name has a lot of sentimental value to me.
I cant speak for wvwvwvw, but I believe we do very well in PvE. Not god tier face rolling mind you, but if you put effort towards it, you will decimate enemies and look kitten doing it.
Maybe its Windows 8, but it doesn’t work. Disabled the games AA, ran as admin, compatability mode, the works. Doesn’t want to work. :x
It’s not letting me get in game even, it gives me an error on the launcher.
I can’t get SweetFX to work. Keeps giving me an error. How did you guys/gals get it working? I used the Gw2 preset that the creator offered even. Woulsd having FXAA on in game cause the exe to not start up right at all?
The Comet is correct. I researched every armor at level 80 look wise via this site (http://www.gw2armorgallery.com/index.html) and mostly made a mix of standard, crafted & karma armors (2 karma pieces, 1 standard, 3 crafted) and I haven’t seen anyone on my server that looks like I do, nor uses the same helmet that I do. A piece of gear here and there will match, but never the unique look I’ve built. My advice is view that link, see what’s good for your race, what you like, then begin dressing up.
http://postimage.org/image/r7u1tkwaf/full/ – My Mesmer.
Any really. Mesmers have fantastic utility skills and some of the best elites in the game. I very seriously doubt that racial skills would be able to beat the effectiveness of abilities like Feedback, Decoy, Blink, Null Field, Mirror Images, etc. I looked at every racial skill before I made my mesmer, and I came to the conclusion that they don’t offer nearly as much as mesmers own skills do.
Just my opinion. I’m a Human Mesmer and I find human spellcasting animations to be very nice.
