As a phantasm mesmer, the typical glassy gank thief is easy bags for me, but have you tried a P/D Rabid Thief? Out of all the thief builds I’ve faced, that one gives me the most trouble by FAR. Good direct damage, great condition damage, and fairly tough. Seeing such a thief in action played by a good player was rather awe inspiring.

LOl, won’t happen. I fell in love with GS the moment I used it. While I do like swords…they just feel more fluid in WvW rather then in PvE. Please give me a working GS ANet. I’m pretty sure people in this thread simply won’t forget.

JQ does need bodies to fill up their NA crew. For TC, I believe their NA is pretty strong and possibly queued on a few maps. If you are going to transfer as an individual, i’ll say go TC and look for the guild that suits you. If you are bringing a hardcore wvw-er NA crew over, you may consider JQ. Do note that both servers are FULL.

As a TC native, I feel other servers would benefit from WvW players more. JQ, despite being full as well, could use more WvW people in my opinion.

Any words on a fix for this ANet? While I do feel for all the classes affected, I’m more worried about my already dying mesmer greatsword. This has me avoiding it completely, since it has 2 bugged skills now. :|

Staff does really good damage, especially in PvE where it’s easy to plan around it’s AE and bouncing to maximize buff potential on the party.

Greatsword to me has always been a weapon I use for two reasons: a) Cripple, b) Knocking people off ledges. It excels for that, but the Staff wins out for total damage (since it also provides buffs on friendly players).

Pre bugs, GS actually outputs way more damage then Staff IMO. All of GS’s abilities do damage, only 3 of Staff’s do any reliable damage on their own. Warlock is great, but WoC doesn’t do a lot of damage unless you have a lot of condition damage. Whereas GS1, Mirror Blade, and Mind Stab all do fairly good damage, and back when berserker could do more then Warlock with the right amount of hits. GS5 does little damage, but it’s great for knockback/kiting.

Just my experience using both.

It was sarcasm. Wish I could find that post I made saying DB would be lucky to be a stable blue/red server in t2. I really just want to show it to people saying DB was going to shoot to T1 in 2 weeks. I don’t think other servers (outside of our tier) realize just how outmanned we are most of the night.

IIRC, it was mostly DB transfers saying that. Oddly enough, those same people (I remember their names) haven’t posted since we took first then a 20k lead that friday morning, to get the win.

Since updates are mainly based around figures guys, you know what you have to do if you want to see the bugs fixed : drop GS, don’t use it anymore. If they notice a sudden big drop in the use of GS from mesmers, maybe they’ll think about fixing it.

…The funny thing is…our only respectable direct damage dps weapons are Sword and GS…it isn’t even funny, there IS NO other weapon for zerker builds. Time for Zerker Mesmers to go MH sword for both weapon sets.

I’ve honestly switched over at this point. I still use GS, but its half and half with sword now. Sword offers a lot too, and has a working phantasm. :x

Sometimes, my berserker doesn’t hit at all even though it clearly goes through the target. I recall reading something awhile ago that this was a bug. Are there any plans to address this issue?

This royally screwed up a lot of the mesmers ‘’good for me, bad for you’’ abilities. I don’t want my clones getting my Mirror Blade bounces!

You know…this whole situation reminds me of that one time where DB and TC were fighting over FABL for days upon days to get stuff because it was easy to get. Then it happened to TC, and now it’s happening to DB. My point? If you’re stuff is easy to take, someone will take it.

It’s not 2v1, it’s being opportunistic.

But that is not reliable…and will fail in most occasions

You can hit multiple mobs with blurred frenzy, Sword, iWarden and stuff…
But its ore likely you won t as its quirte likely your shatter will be quite randomly divided amongst multiple targets and you wont getter a full shatter on all..

I’m not sure if were playing the same class, but if properly played and utilized, I can take on 5+ mobs, plus a veteran and even at times a champion as a shatter mesmer easily. Proper skill usage and shatter timing also lets me be competitive at tagging monsters in events.

The only reason people fail at tagging mobs is because they expect to press F1-F4 and everything be dead, when you need to set up your attacks and weave the battle in your favor to get optimal results. I.E., it takes skill. We aren’t designed to just press 1 button and win. We need to do more to tag monsters, but it’s very possible. I rarely ever get silver on events, and I can tag fairly well.

Maybe it’s just you.

Honestly, do not care about this 2 vs 1 crap. Let each server do as they please. Besides it only makes Dragonbrand stronger if it is being done or not whatever. Anyone who has been on Dragonbrand for a long time is use to this behaviour. I love when people continue to make generalizations about a server they aren’t even on. One person whining in the forums makes about ten people give garbage responses. Makes me laugh. Anyone who takes this forum seriously needs to be slapped around a bit. Whoever said DB doesn’t like open field fight is nuts. Last night on DB BL was an insane amount of field battles especially south of bay between all servers.

My Berserker does this sometimes as well, it’s quite an annoying and critical bug, one that hopefully will be fixed in the next patch since it was labeled somewhere in the vicinity of 4 months ago to be a critical bug that they were working on as a high priority.

I honestly want FA to take the win this week. The scores are all very close though!

I find Phantasm Mesmer to be pretty beastly at roaming. I usually kill or force resets on 75% of the thieves I fight. I have no trouble beating other classes. S/S and S/P with A mix of Valk/Berserker Gear. Tons of invisibility and 2 invul’s, as well as a stun/cripple and immobilize. Though, P/D Condition Thieves seem to hit me the hardest.

If any DB person actually believes this, then do whatever you need to justify the turnout this week I suppose.

I’;ll wait and see how they work with GW2 first. 314 drivers were crashing me to desktop every 6 minutes or so, but the 310 beta drivers ensure me I only get a crash per month or so. Kinda really love this stability. <3

Can someone give a recap of last night? What happened in DBBL that we still own Garrison + Bay?

I was only there for a couple hours, but the gist of it seems to be “zero coordination.” When I was there we were running split zergs and I think they were only in garrison at the same time for about ten minutes.

There really isn’t any excuse for having a full queue and not being able to take Garri. Hell, there really isn’t any excuse for letting it get waypointed in the first place. This server has mightily disappointed me in the last 20-odd hours. Our effort since SEA prime yesterday has been nothing short of abysmal.

We actually had a lot more people around then was viewable from the breach. I honestly think that even with your push, if we all focused there, you wouldn’t have taken it. I recall ticking about 40 or so arrow carts and several ballista last night, because a few of us were expecting your SEA crew to try and take it. It would have been close honestly.

Whatever’s up, hope you guys get it sorted out.

I must be missing something here. DB was going to move up to T2 without transfers. DB would have been stuck in that irritable tier 2.5 mess due to their lack of coverage. DB got more guilds to stay in T2. That’s what the situation is right? That’s how i understand it. Were you not around during TC/DB/Mag back in early March? Judging by your post history, you were. That is the same DB that was moving up to T2. That is the same DB I mentioned in my previous post. That is the same DB you just said you did not get the opportunity to see, which you clearly did.

What’s the problem? The problem is almost all of your posts towards Dragonbrand have been in regards to “wagonbrand” as you have so fondly dubbed us and getting on us about our recent transfers despite not “being ready for T2.”

You said that in the TC/DB/MG thread way back in March, and that is exactly what we did in order to be competitive in this tier because we knew from TC/FA’s multiple visits to T3 that we were too small for T2.

So why do you keep going on and on about Dragonbrand not being ready for T2 without transfers but then Dragonbrand getting “bandwagoned” ?

Although mildly entertaining at best, your posts and quick jabs at us don’t really come off as “all there.”

I believe this comes from the reason (or the intent) of the transfers, not that DB got them.

While I don’t agree with why DB is seeking/getting more transfers (no, not coverage, that other reason.) I am glad. Based on what I’m seeing, you guys need them to stay in T2 and since T3 is more balanced now then it was, it looks like we need you guys here now too.

A lot of issues IMO, but the biggest one is rewarding all types of WvW play. Currently, only being in a big zerg offers any decent rewards, or killing in general. Yak Escorting/Defending do not offer anything. While people still do it, it is discouraging to the people who put in that effort to not be properly rewarded for it on a personal level. Give us some bags or WXP please to balance it out.

To the P/D DB General outside north camp, good duels. I couldn’t quite kill you but I got close. xD

For the record, TC, no, you wouldn’t have “won anyway” without FA’s help. It didn’t escape our notice last night that FA’s zerg was assaulting Lowlands keep in tandem with your zerg and that they were happily ignoring their home BL. They even trebbed down our inner walls for you.

That said, I don’t mind the double team so much. ANet made WvW matchups three-sided for a reason, and right now DB is under the gun, just like we should be.

You’re acting as if you didn’t get anything from FA. I seem to recall several days where you would PvD their holdings while they slept to keep your lead throughout the week. Without that you would have lost, because the 1 night where that didn’t seem to happen, you guys did indeed lose. You were still winning in score this morning, then it just disappeared. I was there, watching. 270vs270 at one point, then poof.

The moment we got close, it really feels like you guys just gave up. If you really wanted to win, I feel you would have tried more. No need to make excuses like this when the fault is clearly whoever gave up the fight this morning. If you really are counting on your SEA coverage to stay ahead while everyone sleeps, you may need a new strategy because once FA starts coming out at night, you wont have that same luxury you did this week.

I like this matchup, and I am happy we won, but we deserved that win. We pushed for it and you clearly didn’t. If you had, the score may be different right now. Please don’t excuse your loss because of FA, because:

1. Forum Warriors talking smack to FA.
2. Your SEA all over their BL to get points when most people are asleep.

By the way, you’re under the gun for the 2 reasons I listed above. Just my opinion though. If you want to win, fight for it like we did.

FA are quality opponents in WvW, and they usually kick my butt 8 out of 10 times to boot. If you are looking for some higher tier action, but don’t feel T1 is for you, consider FA.

Dragonbrand has closed insanely worse deficits before. You haven’t participated in competitive match-ups in a long time huh? Or did you trick yourself into thinking Dragonbrand was this sort of super-monster-server and T2’s match-ups were decided already? We’re a strong T2 server just like FA and TC – 99.8% of Dragonbrand knows it – certain posters from across all 3 servers just hyped us up and you seem to have bought into it.

I am glad Dragonbrand is bringing the fights though. This has been the closest match that I’ve ever been a part of (though some of the early KN matchups were also pretty close).
