There are two major issues with this match-up that I’ve noticed over the past month.

As Arena Net refuses to remove Fort Aspenwood from this bracket I think it has to be said that our server (since GODS basically fell apart) has zero ability to fight against the numbers of IoJ and CD. As much as I don’t doubt the FA guys try (and god knows, I do too), we almost categorically have the outmanned buff which does 3/5ths of nothing to help.

To those of you who say IoJ and CD don’t have some unwritten law – you’re wrong. I’ve witnessed it several times in the EB Jumping Puzzle where CD and IoJ pass each other by like they’re best of friends, whilst I’ll walk in by myself and get slaughtered.

This is not fun. The retort to this kind of statement will inevitably be “then don’t play”, but that’s not the point of a “game”, is it. World vs. World can be a lot of fun, but this type of match up for the past 3 weeks is getting stale. You’ve proven for three weeks running Fort Aspenwood is the bottom of the pile. Congrats. Can we go now?

Im no expert at WvW. But I think FA are making some poor tactical decisions. From my experience, IoJ are trying to chip away at CD as they lead. Meanwhile FA are constantly in our home borderlands and like last night, we take SM from CD in EB only to have FA steal it and target our keeps. Like my belief is that the leader in a tier should be targetted by the two behind, not what is happening. Just because you can attack, doesn’t mean you should. And our commanders are often making us pull out of attacks for this reason.

You must not have been online on Tuesday night. FA was within 3k of CD and IOJ was 2k behind us. Instead of continuing to focus CD, the IOJ zerg led by TL and Helioz decides to come to FA and spend hours sieging bay keep. This allowed CD to move up the other side of our map with an even larger zerg. Garrison was capped by CD at about the same time IOJ capped bay. What happens next? IOJ leaves allowing CD to take everything IOJ had. For the rest of the night CD held a 400+ ppt and ended up with a 10k+ lead overall.

tldr: IOJ played for 2nd place and handed CD the week.

T3 is a great tier to play in, perhaps the most even tier in all of NA. Would be nice to welcome some new faces to the server and crush enemy zerg after enemy zerg together.

The people out in WvW for FA work hard to keep us where we are at, would be nice to get some more people out there to take some of the weight off.

If you are looking for a higher tier server where guilds work independently and together to have as many good fights and as much fun in WvW as possible without bossing guilds around then Fort Aspenwood is a good server to check out.

GoF actually took the gate down manually. A mesmer that was all ready inside named Mezzy? Muzzy from KoME? something to that effect ported some people up unaware that that mesmer glitched in only a few of GoF took that portal in their defense can’t speak for the other people.

Well, we would have loved to defend against your manual take down of the gate, however as you can see, the ones who came into our keep were killing people, even setting up an arrow cart on the wall.

He states it is in ET BL chat. Its not overflow. Same thing is happening on FA, I guess they are transferring people to different servers for the week to put their recruitment messages in WvW map chat.

It can feel very demoralizing to play on a server that has either experienced a flight of talent or experiences severe WvW disinterest. And moving an entire guild is a serious decision. I don’t envy the struggle that you have endured to reach this decision…

Come to T1… we enjoy and appreciate a healthy culture of support for mature talent.

Transfers are welcome. Not only do we welcome new talent, but we discourage “bandwagon” harassment. Anyone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and fight the good fight… becomes native. Of course there is the natural adaptation to the JQ culture, but you will face that at any server you move to. We; however, value the unique experience, strength, and hope you may add to our collective. Your DNA will mix with ours and we will all become stronger for the union.

Jade Quarry has a dedicate, server-wide Teamspeak3 server for cross-guild communication and map coordination. We operate the server as an OPEN access server. This means we occasionally get lurkers. However, we do have a validation process where we verify residency. And all commanders enjoy elevated privileges to help manage the communications (or boot enemy infiltrators).

We lean very heavily toward a “leaderless” confederacy. While there are cliques — we passionately try to avoid the pitfalls of “alliances.” This means that (on occasion) our leadership will squabble a bit… but so far everyone has managed to remember that cannibalism and splash damage hurts everyone.

We have a mixture of seasoned and veteran commanders and a pipeline of mentored talent.

It’s not all roses and pony’s… we have the usual petty bickering and qq’ing. And we face the same challenges of 24/7 commitment that all servers face; however, we do have outstanding (read HUGE and SKILLED) Oceanic representation.

We have light queues (15 min or so) for all the maps on Friday night… but most maps are 1-5 min tops or instaqueue the rest of the week..

If you like EB, we are always looking for some discipline and maturity on that map. A new guild could quickly and easily establish themselves if they chose to tackle the constant challenge of managing the more challenging map.

Admittedly, we are a difficult server to transfer to… but, I believe that everyone that has chosen to relocate here has appreciated the move. Any individual or guild that wants to dedicate themselves to JQ is welcome and their investments are appreciated.

I hope you will give Jade Quarry serious consideration.

I LOL’d… Making a recruitment post in a thread asking servers not poach players from already low pop servers… classy.

Every time a new build kicks us from WvW I no longer get mad as it means a possible fix to these exploits. I quickly go to the forums to check the notes for the updates only to find:
“Wintersday: Updated some Wintersday-specific crafting recipes that required an incorrect number of components.”

… And then shed a single tear. Thanks for the update Anet.

HIRE recruits people on IOJ and then tells them to transfer to EBay.

DRGN recruits people on FA and then tells them to transfer to IOJ.

I fail to see your key differences…

Inregards to 2 and 3… it should be mentioned that armored fist is also on FA recruiting guilds/ entire wvw community (although they at least don’t just put their recruitment message in all the WvW map chats)… I doubt two guilds would be on the same server recruiting if it wasn’t a common strategy on IOJ.

Apparently all the top tier servers are doing it. On FA it is mostly IOJ trying to poach players, but I also saw one for BG as well in lions arch. Its really a low attempt on their part to better their servers at the expense of other servers, but unfortunately nothing can be done to stop it until Anet ends free transfers all together.

Yeah they are all numbers game and attitudes of do it our way or the highway. We didn’t want to do it their way so they tried to poach as many before hitting the highway.

It’s all good we only lost a couple of decent people and even less decent players. Noticed by the fact EBay is still coming last even though 100’s of w3 dedicated have xferd there in the past 1 month.

When your recruitment strategy is to send “representatives” to other servers and spam WvW map chat trying to poach players/guilds from those servers, you can’t really complain about what HIRE did on IOJ.

Dear FAs, it was a good fight at your Bay till an exploiter, a black haired human female mesmer from the guild Upper Echelon [Echo] glitched into inner Bay’s lord room by going through the gate, and portal-ed some of your zerg on to our walls.

We have screenshots and have reported everyone who went through the portals dropped by the said mesmer. I’ve noticed most of you guys have not taken the portal, so you guys must have known WTH has been going on at the time, please report said person and keep our WvW exploit free. We will do the same if you guys ever find anyone from TC responsible for exploiting, thank you and good night.

I was there, tried to figure out who it was that glitched up there. I do think it is unfair to report people just for taking a portal especially if u arent running in a group. Sometimes you take them without knowing where they go, even if just for the excitement of not knowing.

I actually saw the person who u say exploited jump off the wall and be killed and actually was thinking she was the one so I didn’t even try to rez her. Got a screenie of her name and will post it in our forums. Hacking and exploiting is out of control, by all three servers.

edit: Nevermind, turns out i got a screen of someone different so nothing i can do about it.

We are neck and neck with CD currently for 2nd place. It is going to be a close and exciting finish between us.

Still hoping to find some quality WvW’ers to help us compete for 1st in this tier. Just need a few more pieces and we will be good to go.

Actually zerging is the first sign of a low skill population. The majority of FA avoids zerging around the map, instead opting to move around in smaller groups which has worked out quite well getting us to T3 with a lower WvW population compared to our competition. But hey, what ever floats your boat, zerg away… Its just not how we do things on FA.

Well my point is that whether you put that much time into the game or you put the game 2nd to real life, either way you will achieve the same outcome…. nothing. Try not worrying so much about the score, which means nothing. You might find the game much more enjoyable then.

Just wanted this thread to see the light of day again. FA is still looking for WvWers to kick some kitten kitten with us. Give us a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Ok let me tell you a real life scenerio which just happened

Friday Dec 14th 2012 – SOS vs SBI vs JQ

For me, it was 9pm. I had just gotten off work, had been in the office since 10am so exactly 11 hours.
I go have dinner with my gf for about 30 mins
I had a conference call organized at 11pm with overseas subsidiary office.
I was supposed to go have drinks with a friend for thier birthday later that night.

10:30pm, I recieve a Whatsapp message:
“Jedahs, we need you to lead in SOS BL, JQ is taking everything and have closed the gap from 15k lead to only 7k lead. If we do not fight back, we will actually lose by reset in 8 hours.”

So what do I do?
- Cancel mid night conference call with overseas office
- Cancel birthday drinks with friend
- Tell my gf: “sorry gotta go” “work problems???” “no, game problems” “…..”

I got home, we played and played and played. In the end, we won by a crazy small margin of 3,000 points. Very good effort though JQ, very good.

My top officer and commander played for 18 hours straight. 18 freaking hours!

I played from 11pm to 7am in the morning. Not to mention I had just spent about 11 hours at work. I only played for 8 hours but I had been up for 20 hours by the time I stopped playing.

You say “lol you could just not play”

If the online remaining players didn’t play all the way through Euro time, all the efforts for thousands of people that our server had put into the weekly matchup would have been wasted. That’s 144 hours of our time wasted if the few of us who had the ability to push on didn’t.

Now, my friend is not happy I didn’t show up for her party. I am not sure how the overseas office is doing because I had to postpone the meeting. My gf, well she is so used to it since GW2 came out I’m surprised she hasn’t dumped me. Hundreds of players are burnt out. My officers have taken the whole weekend off. Look at our opponent too, they’re completely burnt out because they didn’t sleep and pushed so hard, and they still lost which I am sure is very demoralizing. Seeing from this weekend, it seems like our opponent have given up as well.

Still looking for some guilds who have the stones to fight an up hill battle in T3. In my opinion T3 has some of the funnest fights available in the game. There is enough population for fighting to take place all over, while never having to wait in que. There will always be room in a map for an entire guild to fight together. Join up with the FA WvW community and have some fun.

There is no doubt in my mind that we would beat TC if we had similar numbers to them in WvW.

I’ll be honest what I have been seeing out of FA this week I don’t think I’m so sure of that. Since paired up against TC I think FA’s skill (or maybe will to fight) has gone down every week.

We have major leadership issues (or lack there of). We don’t seem to know how to pick up downed players. We spend hours banging our head on SMC. We have little to no communication (via voice or even chat). Over this time with TC we should be learning from what doesn’t work instead of repeating it every day thinking its going to be different this time.

So, from a FA player, we just aren’t that amazing, no servers are in all reality. If we had same numbers as TC or any server we would probably do about the same score wise. Because in all reality numbers = score.

Perhaps. I see your point. I was more thinking along the lines of TC in its prime vs FA in its prime with even numbers.

I think the fact that we are heavily outnumbered may lead to the things you describe. I think if we were on an equal playing field for a week or two, the basics would come back to the WvW’rs.

For a tier 3 server, TC has way more than enough people in WvW. As it stands now, you guys win on sheer numbers alone.

TC has many hours where we will have at most 10 players on a map. While I understand this to be a convenient reason for the scores to end the way they do, I’m disappointed that you discredit our players abilities and strategies.

I am disappointed that you keep posting this kitten in a recruitment thread.

Aytrix started in with the typical patting yourselves on the back while simultaneously saying TC only ever wins because of numbers. If you want it to stay a recruitment thread then people shouldn’t slide underhanded comments about how superior your server is to everyone else’s in WvW. Funny how certain people (not the majority from FA) have to constantly make excuses for losing to TC over, and over, and over, and over in T3.

That said, I do enjoy fighting(repeatedly) against FA.

Well, all I can say is that we will never find out if TC has anything besides numbers until they fight against a server with equal numbers. Of course I’m going to pat ourselves on the back, its OUR server. When I’m in WvW with my guild and some of the other WvW guilds on FA, the TC zergs are crushed time after time until they swell to ridiculous numbers. Likewise I’m sure you will say you see similar things from your side. Which is why you are here, patting TC on the back, arguing you really do have some skill.

We don’t want to destroy Tier 3, we don’t want to make a move on Tier 2 or Tier 1, we want to make Tier 3 a more competitive tier, yet people like you come here and fight our efforts. Doesn’t make sense since you are so eager to prove yourselves.

Hey, TC person here. To everyone looking for a competitive WvW server to join, Fort Aspenwood is definitely the place to go. They’ve been in T3 for a while now, and they’ve more than proven that they’re one of the best servers out there in WvW. Despite being outnumbered, they manage to pack a hell of a punch. I remember times where 10 FA defended a zerg of 25-30 TC, or conversely when a group of 10-15 FA snuck in and capped our BL garrison. Their guilds are some of the best I’ve seen, and their coordination is exceptional; getting hit by numerous, well organized zergs all across your third of the EB map is terrifying. ULTD and GODS are some crazy guilds. I’m always exceptionally careful when I see their tags around.

All in all, these guys have got the coordination and strategy aspect of WvW down. I’d recommend FA to anyone who is tentatively searching for that server to call home.

Looking at the scores, it looks like Yaks belongs in tier 4 which means FA will be in tier 3. How about some Yaks WvW guilds come over to FA and make both Tier 3 and Tier 4 better competition. I’m sure that will be the day. lol </3

And every server has people who complain too much so that is definitely not a reason to not join a server.

The PvE on this server sucks nuts and noone wants to help anyone, trying to get story mode done let alone an exp mode is near impossible….. We also suck at the pvp area and are usually last so dont roll on this server

Well you must be doing something wrong because I have had 0 trouble with any of that. Perhaps you should try joining a good guild. In regards to WvW, we are currently in 3rd because we are in a tier we do not have the population for. We have some amazing guilds who can do great things, we just need some more dedicated WvW’rs for our score to go up. With what we are working with, we do exceptionally well.

So what do you win in WvW that is so important that you play so long? I mean I would understand if there was an actual prize for winning… but there isn’t. ANet doesn’t have a gun to your head forcing you to play.

I have a feeling this guy is exaggerating a lot in an attempt to get Anet’s attention… it won’t work.

Fort Aspenwood now has a TS3 server for everyone in WvW to use! The word still needs to get out and guilds need to decide whether they are gonna switch over to the public TS3, but this is the first step of FA being the victor of T3.

Whether all guilds decide to use it or not, it is still a great option to have. Thanks for the update.

Just want to clarify that I don’t think anyone on FA is looking for a push to T1 or T2. We are looking for a few guilds (or any WvW players looking for a guild) to join and solidify our numbers throughout the day and make T3 more fun for everyone involved.
