Difficult encounters is not a problem, If you can’t do the content then you shouldn’t expect the reward.

If you have an issue, change your build to minimise your weak points.

It’s generally true that rewards should be earned through hardship. But this is not this thread is about. It’ about players are getting stun/KB lock to death in a general map area that you want to skip mobs. Surely, we can change 7-9 to stability skills for particular mobs. That is just troublesome and you will just lose the advantages of other useful skills and is a boring play style. Just my opinion. :P

Hi me OP again :P So, I was playing my lv 45 warrior in Balzeridge Steppes trying to fast clear the map over the hearts, poi, and vista, etc. I encountered the following.

As I was running nearby a cliff, some spider just chain me down (feel more like freeze), so I remove the condition and run away. But it won’t let go and keep chasing for a long distance, so I turned back to hit it and tried to finsih it off. Just before it is nearly going to heaven, somehow it de-aggroed and started to regen HP and left the area.

So, I didn’t bother chasing it back and turned around to fight the mob originally in my path. My warrior is kind of glass cannon. I often have so little HP left before I finsih mobs. While I was at it, that spider somehow came back for me and gave me a chain! (I think it’s caused by my bleed condition on it after it went back and thought I attacked it again and came back for me XD). I didn’t expect it chain me from behind and I ended up dead.

That’s not the end of the story… I had to go this path and encountered the spiders again. This time I met three, and got into chain luck to death. So, I tried again… This time I tried to dodge after the 2nd chain (1st chain was removed by skill) and I dodged into the cliff and died :P I know this 3rd try is my mistake. But it’s just so common that when you are trying to rush things up, it usually ends up taking longer. Because you’d lose patience and start making mistakes. So I totally raged quit. :P This beats the original purpose of playing a game, to have fun or to have thing under control.

So, I guess the same short cc mechanism was there even before this new patch. Maybe because I played a tanky guardian and didn’t feel as much of it. (This is not true for the new AC dungeon XD) I do kind of recall the earlier undead in curse shore could pull you down in a fast and furious manner. :P

Anyhow, I guess we will just have to live with it. And today is just my lucky day :P

I feel you. I also returned to gw2 after months of absence. And saw so many currancy and felt so colorful. I have been playing 2 months since then trying to feel the game. Like OP suggested, this daily thing is forcing people to login everyday.

Like the Op said, ““but you don’t need ascended gear.” You’re right, you don’t”. I don’t think one would play a game for long if he/she is undergear to general public after they invest some amount of time. I do feel there is a big gap in gear in between HC players and late comers. And the chances that the late comers will catch up to HC players are low if they don’t get ascended gear fast from FOTM, which requires a lot of time farming there to be good.

I feel the current trend of new patches are to satisfy HC players more than new comers. The daily thing was ok before this lastest patch since most can be done in WvW. But the new daily is actually forcing people to do something in somewhere, which costs transportation fee a lot I feel :P I am sure some people like me don’t like to spend fee using long range wp XD.

Hi, I was doing AC exp path 2 and training new char in field of ruin fighting ogres. My samples might not be enough to draw this conclusion, but I thought maybe I could post a topic and see if others have similiar feeling over other map/area.

As the topic suggest, I am feeling strongly getting knocked down, chained, crippled, or whatever cc that can be imposed upon you recently from general mob. Why does this matter? Well, I only have about 2 hours of a day that can play the game without interruption and I want to progress as much as possible or farm efficiently in dungeons.

While I sometimes want to skip mob by using shiftness + dodges + stability, now I feel I cannot run away often after been pin down to death and cannot do anything about it. I feel our stability cd time is long and duration is short comparing to the mob using their short cd cc skills on you.

I feel it more, especially when playing in meele. I got knocked down, then i use stability/condition removal, after few secs, got knocked down again by 2nd mob (my skills are at cd), when i finally stand up, the 3rd mob cast knock down on you again, when I stand up, the first mob is ready to knock you down :P So, I never have chance to attack or run away. Once you are inside this never ending cc chain, you are pretty much dead.

I understand the dev might want to make general PVE more challenge. I for one vote for casual gaming or consistant farming for PVE and leave the challenge in PVP or WvW. I am just starting to feel back when I play diablo 3 those ellite mob cc you so much and make it unplayable. It’s not that you cannot handle it but just too annoying. So much pain for so little gain is bad. I sincerely hope gw2 is not heading that way. Plus no one like to get knock down (human psychology), ‘cause it’s testing people’s patience.

Another thing about the dungeon, I think it’s harder now (I only played AC after the patch, don’t know about others). I had 120+ mf and hardly got anyting worth (other than good gold), playing 2 hours in 2 games daily. Now I spent 2 hours for 1 game only. I can understand why people wnat to play with experienced players posted in LFG like a job resume :p I usually don’t like to play with those people in that kind of attitude in the LFG comment, but it’s encouraging people to do that now when the difficulty is getting high. Whenever new stuff or difficulty are introduced, we are subjected to be getting called noob over and over again in the game, which hurts feelings.

So the attack has an interval? That is good info! We will try your approach again using the stair. BTW, is it safer just to attack from range? I died meele so I couldn’t tell the attack range. Thanks ^^

Hi,

We were doing Cathedral of Silence events and fingting Grenth. His has this special attack that throws people to the sky and you take falling damage and die (usually from 2nd fall). Stability does not seem to work and before you know it you see people around you all dead :P. Don’t know how often he uses that attack or what trigger him to use it. I was reviving people and got thrown to the sky too. Any hint would be nice. Thank you ^^

Does shield work for arrow cart in WvW

Hi,

I’d like to know whether or not shield of absorption or the golem’s shield bubble work against arrow cart AOE. I’d like to think it should since that’s what shield does most of the time (not balista but normal size arrows). Can someone confirm that? Thx ^^

How to do the new 'daily dodger'?

^^ I was playing WvW in a Zerg fight. When the battle ended (I was dead) and got back to town, I noticed my 15 daily dodge maxed. I think this new patch adds many componetns that is trying to encourage players to participate in WvW, including the daily revive. Dead players are everywhere for you to max those new daily achievements easy in minutes. :P

Oopsy, Janyne’s link actually shows the current and next matchups! It seems there is a bit gap of the rating score between our server and the one on top of us XD. We probably have to keep winning for months to advance. Oh Veloka~ Why are you Veloka? :P

Right, I am not considering server transfer. But golems are really a good idea. I need to play some more to get to know some commanders to do what you suggested. ^^ It does seem to have familiar commanders’ names from time to time.

I was looking at server rankings. Right now our server is at green. Does it mean if it keeps winning, it will become red to match with other higher ranks after a few resets? If so, keep winning seems to be a good idea too ^^ Easier to say than done I know. Just wondering~

Yep, last time we did setup a cata but was taken out by the treb from veloka. And the commander left the game after we took the keep. A bunch of our players are not very WvW hardcore so we depend on commander a lot. If he is gone, we are like sitting duck XD. It just does not happen during my up time when veloka is captured. That’s why I am so frustrated and hence asking for help. I kind of like to use forums. it’s a good place for ingame QA or relief XD. Thx Jayne, I am crossing my fingers and wait for server resets now (yeah it’s just Monday :P).

Yes EB change shape constantly. I usually just follow the zerg. I once heard if we were to take veloka tower, we might need to take the red keep. To take the red keep, we need the SM. So before I know it, we are taking every major points in the map and spread thin. We never own those places for long. Veloka tower is just too fortified to take even when we treb from red keep XD

Even after weekly resets, that tower is more fortified than the red keep right at day 1. In the past 2 weeks, we took red keep for at least 5 times during my up time, but never be able to take the tower. It’s like the red value the tower more than the keep and don’t want us to get that vista. XD

Our server ranking does not move at all for weeks. Almost always fight the same 2 other servers at the same location. It’s just flustrating. I am not really a PvPer, but somehow I had killed 300+ players (who probably just want our side of vista) in the past 2 weeks just for this vista. It’s terrible…

I like WvW gaming style strategically. There are places to improve that can make it even better. But I feel lost playing at it all the time and forgot I started as an advanturer just wanting to do some easy MF runs.

I do feel much better now shooting all these words out. Thank you and sorry for listening to my murmuring out loud :P I will keep checking back the map as suggested by Awesome for now.

Hi,

I am relatively new to WvW and I think the gaming idea as a war game is not bad and rewarding too. The problem is I am into this 100% world completion and I am having trouble getting that single last vista for weeks.

My server (Boris Pass) is always green and We never get near that red tower in my up time. So I have to do WvW every time I play the game now instead of my usual dungeon exploring and story line. (I am the kind of person who do not want to start new things if things were left undone ^^! If it is totally impossible to do, I’d just let go.)

So I am kind of trapped now. Is there any other way to do it or brutal force is the only way? Thanks
