I will just say fighting thief is a waste of time unless you want to. But usually they chase you and don’t let you go because they think they can own you and usually they do own you at the end if you choose to fight. XD

There are too many times I go get my poi/visa with my low level in the WvW map and suddenly some thief came out of nowhere and murdered me at those non tatical locations, ie the 3 skill points in the BL. This won’t happen to other class because I’d have stayed away when I see them.

You feel the hostility and you don’t want to hang around there, but they just don’t let you go. In fact, the thief class is designed so good that the dedicated thief players fit perfectly into the role.

The class is just a tool. It’s the people who play it decides its role. You can make it a dark evil character who does its assassin things. Or it can be a support who save lives using the stealth out of a nasty situation.

I just hope those who enjoy the assassin part don’t over extend themselves into real life. Even though a video game is designed to let people experience things that real life cannot, there is a tendency that many real life crimes are commited because the people learn too much and apply it from TV/movie/games. Just a reminder. :P

Hi OP,

1. Any change will make some people happy and some not. I guess this change makes more people happy.

2. Good idea, I like it :P This will also encourage people WvW since the bonus will also boost your pve efficiency such as dungeons (10 min now instead of 15 min for cof p1 XD)

3. It’s just lag happening to any internet game. Dragon events have it too.

So yes plz consider point 2 :P

Just a reminder, there are a great amount of people enjoying being with a zerg. If fact, if you nerf zerg too much, you could lose players.

Simple quick fix for Anet. Make WvW HC mode and WvW SC mode. The game is exactly the same except there are 2 modes now. HC is for cordinated guilds who treat server ranking seriously. SC is for casual players who enjoy karma/xp train while zerging with a pug commander. :P

I found maps are queued mostly on reset time, not usually during the week.

Note that not everyone going into WvW map is there to play WvW. There are also a good number of pve people making use of WvW map for short travel to LA, access storage, crafting, etc. So lowering queue cap will actually prevent the real WvW players from playing because they cannot enter map as often. :P

It’s not the pve people’s fault to take advantage of what the convenience the WvW map is offering. It’s only natural people play efficiently once they learn tricks for any game.

Currently you could do guild vs guild in WvW, but it’s not that efficient and fair since random players will join and interfere. And there is no way to keep score between guilds and rank them.

What you need is a GvG mode that let guilds to enlist a matchup in a tournament and rank guilds. Make it ladder (reset score history after a period) or whatever so that new guilds won’t suffer any disadvantage in the next ladder reset.

This mode will help existing/new players to know what guild is good to go if they are looking for coordinated group pvp instead of using map chat to ask people’s opinions about joining what guilds. Also, this mode fits more for the game’s name (GW2). :P

I bring this up since there are many complains about players imbalance in WvW. So a GvG mode can set fixed player counts for an even matchup between guilds. Also, there are so many random talks about what guilds are good on the forum. So let the score decide it instead of all the talks (guild pride rather than server pride). :P

Use something similiar to WvW but with smaller map just like spvp. Set a max player count for a matchup (for example 30) by guilds in their matchup option and maybe set a time limit for this matchup (say 1 hour). During the time of a match between the 2 guilds, their goals is to earn scores like WvW. Their guildies can show up anytime during this 1 hour matchup. Why not just go full 30 vs 30 at the beginning? Because this allows the option that some guilds might want to give handicap (well, they want to see if thier 20 guildies can win over 30. :P) Something like that. If Anet is seriously considering this GvG mode, it can design it anyway it wants that bring out max fun.

I doublt arrow carts will stop a zerg, they probably just slow it down. This kind of tactic is often seen. Set up trebs in towers, cut the supply nearby the targets, put the zerg in between tower and the target as distraction or protection to the trebs, and wait till trebs finsih the job. Then zerg sworm in to clear sieges and oh yeah shake hands with defenders. :P

You know when there is no sup a building will eventually go down. So the above tactic obioulsly the server with more players will win given time. The players might not necessarily be with the zerg at the time during trebing (some are camping). But they can join up at the time to sworm in. The defender will have no sup and few sieges left, then the fate is sealed. :P

Sometimes people just give up defense on the wall, and lay heavy seiges in the lord room. Even then the bigger zerg will have advantage over time since they can also build sieges at lord room fast and they have access to sup better when fight lasts long (just put people (well they have plenty XD) in between target and the spawn to prevent reinforcement to join).

So yeah, no matter how Anet wants to make the change, it’s plain difficult to balance players. It’s not like spvp that they can put equal amont of players on both side. There can be many random people joining in WvW anytime and there is simply no way to control that without sacrificing something. So yeah the servers with larger WvW population rule. Might as well just try enjoy it as it is and max the fun. :P

It’s interesting people only pick the content they want to read. :P I gather the info from a few posts in this thread regarding 5-7 tiers and conclude for you.

9 servers (8 if not counting Ehmry Bay who seems to be able to move to T4 any time soon). Also AR seems to have the #1 NA PvPers. If you want to test skills and play against them in WvW, then maybe you should consider BP (both in tier 5). Otherwise the 8 pug servers are really no much difference. :P Pick any~

Hi,
I find myself don’t use questing that often except trying to find uncontested wp for dungeons or temples. I know people are complaining about guesting, but I am not sure why…

It surely can be a long wait that when all of the 3 quest servers are contested and all we can do is wait/ask around for people to do the events. Or for the temple currently we could post request on the forum under dynamic event and wait for someone to reply (this is long wait, like it can take a day+ when your play time is limited in a window since the forum post is not updated constantly).

If we can access server more than 3 (or unlimited :P), maybe we can get our objective done faster. Can un-limited guesting cause problem (somehow I feel it might otherwise it wouldn’t be limited to 3 at the first place XD)? But I want to suggest anyway to find a solution for un-contested wp for group events.

I think the majority of WvW players would love this. But is the majority of GW2 players in WvW? So I think the dev would do things for the majority first for whatever that majority is (somehow I feel it’s pve :P).

Yes, plz consider for the following reasons:

1. How many times have you hear people saying this in map chat? “I hate xxx server. I want to kill them all!” WvW is a spawn of hatred? This is bad for mental health. Too bad the xxx server is making your WvW life bad because your server is hanging around with them for months and you can’t avoid it.

2. Racism/discrimination. My own experience. I used the gw2lfg website to get cof P1 + P2 run. I was partied with 3 whose server has been our WvW opponents for months and 1 other random server player. After P1 run, I got kicked because one of those 3 party members said his friend is up and suddenly the guy call my guild name and kick me before I have time to respond.

Please make WvW ladder resets somehow.

Is this mechanism intended?

Thx for all the replys ^^ I am just glad the dev is awared of it and will do something about it in the future. That’s good enough for me. Plus not ever player who knows tricks will implement it all the time. So if that happens too often, I will just go check out dungeons or super advanture box :P Thx~ (graverr’s baby ponda is cute ^^)

Actually, there are people guarding the dead mesmer. I heard them map chatting that the thief would just disappear into the wall and reappear and slowly rez the mesmer. They cannot hit the thief somehow even with aoe and they keep killing the mesmer when he gets up. But the thief is persistent and keeps rez the mesmer. So the guards give up because they want to have free karma/exp too. No one wants that guard job. Why? Because it’s just a game and guarding has no reward and waste time. Plus, you need a lot of guards because experienced thief is nasty killing people. :P

Anyhow, I imagine there will be arguments for this kind of stuff. It’s fine. I am just saying this mechanism is twisted and waste people’s time. It’s not like people don’t sweep after cap and not awared of what happened. This actually dis-courages people playing WvW, which makes the ones who perform this trick happy of course. :P

So we have a scenerio that we have been seeing all night.

Zerg caps keep A and goes to cap keep B. A dead mesmer in keep A won’t leave and wait for rez by a hidden thief who bug into wall with stealth and wait till safe and rez the mesmer. Then mesmer port friends in to keep A and re-cap it again before zerg even cap keep B. Then zerg comes back for keep A and the same thing happens in keep B all over again. The result is the 40 man zerg is running between the 2 keeps the whole night by few invaders in each keep who use the thief/mesmer combo.

Maybe this is not new topic. Maybe it’s good for casual players like me who get to enjoy free karma/exp :P But it surely is boring. Feels like running COF p1 gold farming over and over. This is intended, then WvW will get old pretty soon.

I am just leveling one right now so I can tell you it is a very good class :P I am using dagger/warhorn, staff, signet speed boost. And the ellite plague form that makes you a real tank for 20 sec. Depending on your play style, you can use plague form for offense and defense. Staff mark for support. Dagger is for fast hitting 1 target (clear siege). Anyway, make sure you don’t go down state. Down = defeated atm because of some 1/3 downed state HP bug. Tank necro is very good commander material. Enjoy~

Ok I see, so 1/3 of downed HP is probably why I never felt 1 or 2 were working, simply because I died too fast after I was downed. No wonder a random spider can 2-hit shot me after I was down. Thx for the tip~ :P

Hi, I am trainning a necro and found that the down stat 1 and 2 not seem like to work. I know people say necro has many bugs, but I just want to have a quick answer.

When I hit 1, enemy target doesn’t seem to lose hp. Hit 2 no one got fear and run away. Never get to hit 3 and got finished off so fast (even when I am a tanky build XD). 4 is working. So, I never get back from down stat so far. Down = dead for me now. Is this a known issue?

Hi OP,

WvW is a stretagy war game. You should learn siege operaion/placement and defending building/sites first. If you want to do only PvP, it’s ok too. Go with your comrades and gank the opponents at first. After you are comfortable with the surrendings, you can consider 1vs1 or 1vsX when you are that good.

I think gear matters only when both yourself and the opponents are experienced. There are many low levels mixing in the zerg, so you can get kills even if you are low level with crap gears. Once you are very experienced in WvW, you could even make kills with the right builds at low level on your own. You just have to draw the surrending to your favor. :P

How about this? Change wp to red color (like a warning) when npc is in combat and still allow people to use wp at the time. Then wp is changed to contested when npc is wiped at any time (note npc is respawned if the battle lasts long). If npc is respawned, wp is back in red and is accessable. So only make wp contested if npc is wiped.

You had the chance to wp when you could when it’s showing red. When npc is wiped and wp is contested for real, you are paying for your ignorance if you did not wp when you could.

So if you have a sizable zerg attacking a gate, npc is wiped pretty fast, which make the red wp window small (I think is reasonable). If it’s a small group attacking a gate and the battle takes long, some npc would respawn after their first wipe and wp goes to red again allowing defenders to wp at that small window before the respawned npc is wiped again. It makes sense tower/keep should be hard to cap, so allowing defenders more chance to wp is reasonable.

you think we havent tried? we got 30man zerg camping the gate, he still slips pass… he hits the gate and instantly restealth… you cant even see him, the npc guards dont even have time to react…

Another post reagarding OP class in WvW. I just talked about stealth is OP, and there you are a good example XD. 1 vs 30 and nothing can be done. :P

Thief/mesmer, or rather the stealth ability.

I can’t remember how many times the whole army is held by a single stealth invader, and the commander had to tell us to leave the thief/mesmer alone and move on. All you see is a bunch of people hitting the air and the stealth invader just appears/disappears and suddendly you see one of your guys dead. Then more guys died trying to rez the downed. All because of 1 invader. Tell me that is not OP :P.

You can say it’s your good skill timing the stealth. I don’t usually see other class doing 1 vs X and still get away safe when the fight is starting to take long and more of your people come. With stealth, you can stay there the whole time regardless how many people are around. So any class exploiting stealth is OP in this game.

I just like to run with the zerg. Nothing more.

I myself is poor pvp player. But when running with zerg, I tend to run support builds and make my zergmate benifit from my build. And when we take down the other zerg, it feels kind of involement of teamwork and that just feels good. Sometimes we get wiped, but we all get wiped and can laugh together about it, which is good too. :P

It takes the dev in seconds to remove the code to include those vista/poi in wvw as part of world completion. Might as well just remove the code instead of spending days to add new codes for the tonic. No, the dev want to force people to play wvw for those who aim for world completion.

This does not just happen in tier 1. Happens in other servers. It’s flustrating that people spent for hours to cap something just so that some OP invulnerable thief and mesmer combo steal it back in no time. I don’t know about others, but I am losing interests playing wvw because of so many of these tricks/bugs. It has come to a point that whoever exploits these tricks/bugs win the game.

I have seen many suggestions on other treads about this, but nothing has ever been done. So …

I think pvp and pve people have different personalities. I doubt a big reward in pvp will draw the pve people in. pve people just don’t pvp, that is all. They might try but won’t stay for long. You might convert a few of them to pvp, but just a tiny few. The reward will just end up as some exploits for pvper.

To be clear, assuming we make this change, it would have basically 0% to do with world completion. While that would certainly be a side effect of the change, I’d like to do it because it will add a small amount of variety to the matchups, nothing more and nothing less.

Execuse me but that’s not what many pve people think. For many pve people, playing in wvw is for world completion.

Say I am blue/red, and there is this vista/poi in a green keep that is always fortified by huge defenders and sieges, and no one in blue/red can ever take it for months or ever (at my daily 2-3 hours login time). That is the only vista/poi that prevents me from world completion.

By color rotation, at least there is a 33% chance that we will be green and sit at the green BL/EB next week, so that I can have the vista/poi for free finally in approximately 3 weeks, as opposed to endless waiting wishing for someone someday takes the keep.

People who wvw will wvw. There is no need to draw pve people into wvw ‘cause all they care is world completion. Having pve people who do not even bother to learn wvw stretagy usually burn your supply where they are not supposed to and don’t follow to commander’s plan, which is actually bad.

So yeah I think the OP just want to rotate to a different color BL/EB to get the vista/poi. Nothing complicating or brabbling about JQ being #1 XD. Because this issue also happens to many other tiers, especially many servers had learned the importance of defending their keeps and never lost them.

We had a similiar experience. It took us hours to finally get us SM in EB. Then some thieves stayed and started reviving their dead comardes gradually. All we can do is nothing but to kill the ones got revived again and again and wasting our quality time, which should be doing something else out there.

By observation, they seem to go stealth into the SM wall, which is invulnerable since we cannot touch, then they come out of wall healing the dead and go into walls again. We all just stand there AOE on the dead but the dead still got revived eventually.

I don’t know about the thief class. but the stealth skill totally ruin my experince with the game. It’s just making others feeling stupid hiting air and no counter. I can understand if you are the thief who play with stealth and have tons of fun. And the fun is built on the suffering of others in un-acceptable.

missing rune effect for tornado

I am using the superior rune of lyssa. The 6th effect is supposed to grant all boons to the use of ellite skill, but it doesn’t work for tornado. Other 2 ele ellite are ok. Tornado goes meele, so I want that all boon effect for my build. Plz take a look, thx.

In massive zerg fight, especially in a tunnel (lord room) where visibility is limited, defeated invaders are everywhere with the same red color as the live ones. It’s hard to decide whether or not to push forward and we often end up missing the good timing. Plz consider it.

Make WvW Hardcore servers

This can affect the game seriously, so I am suggesting Anet could make Hardcore WvW servers (aside from the current softcore servers) if they have the heart for it :P. I am sure the outcome of the ranking would be totally different because people value life, that makes major difference in performing stretagy.

From time to time people feel player population will affect the outcome of scores, I’d like to suggest making each character HC (reset weekly) and open for discussion. If a player char is dead (only defeated/ down can be rez), he cannot use that char again this week in WvW. He can however use other char if he has more.

pro:
- group would perform actions more cauously before any action (no suicidal tactic)
- defending is easier / taking a tower or keep is harder (people value life)
- encourage people train more new char
- stretagy means more than zerging in big number

con:
- some people don’t like training more char but only want to stick to one
- people only have so much time to play. If they go HC, less people will play in SC or vise versa.
- might only interest HC gamers not for casual players

I just feel WvW is the heart of this game since the game’s name fits it well. PVE is to let you gear up for WvW. Of course there are so many different kind of players who play this game in different purpose. I just thought why not to have a HC mode as a real war simulator

I am a nobody solo player in Borlis Pass, who find myself playing WvW a lot somehow. I don’t know if there is any BP guilds functioning like you do. I do know the other guilds work well together and have the heart to go forward in ranks. I think you can make a difference in BP, if making a difference is what you are looking for.

BP has increased ranks from 16 to 14 in the pass 2 weeks. The current top in our tier Ehmry Bay is trying hard to kick us down a tier. We are against 2 server in our BL almost 247. But, we give them the fight they want non the less.

If you are interested, please contact the major WvW guild in BP such as BURN, DKZ, BS, FOX, etc. I am sure they will appreciate your company ^^

Ranger, Engineer or Ele?

Hi, I am leveling a ele in wvw atm. It’s quite fun with all the AOE. You could try staff with increased aoe area. Save a spot for mist so that u can turn invulnerable and get away. The rest go all aoe attacks. all staff AOE are 1200 range. With widen area, it’s very impressive.

If I remember correctly, only ranger longbow can get to 1500 with trait? Don’tknow about engineers.

The idea of alliance is good, though we need to define it in more detail. Otherwise, it might actually cause chaos. For example, you might be playing with the same servers forever and never advance in rank since this alliance keeps your scores closely matched.

I feel the root problem in current WvW is the amount of players (imbalanced in different servers). Many WvW heavy player transfer to top rank ones because they have more chance to have big zergs. Big zerg = High resource = Win. And they also have more WvW dedicated guilds, which make their WvW maps closely guarded 247.

While big zerg does not necessarily mean you win every battle, it means you have more people you can speare to scout around, guard towers, and keep your score. A guarded tower can be very hard to take if the defenders use sieges well. Knowing your towers are safely guarded, commanders can lead the rest of players in zerg to shop around.

When you are out-manned, forget about zerging around ’cause you cannot even defend your towers. No zerging = no casual players to participate. Why? Because guarding tower has near 0 rewards, time comsuming, and boring while waiting, and yeah you usually get killed and have to pay repair cost.

I myself is a casual player. Every time I go into Wvw, I look for commanders to follow around. My goal is to try my build in team fights, earn exp for low level char, and get some karma (because I do not like farming/grinding). If I don’t see a commander in map, I usually leave. I am sure many other casual players are the same.

If I were a WvW heavy player, I play it alot and see not many commanders leading sizable zerg and we always lose fights. This can be very flustrating and fianlly make me feel like to save money and transfer to other higher rank servers. It’s only natural this would eventually happen. So yeah, we need to work on the alliance idea in more details. Alliance happens in real world and there must be a way to make it into play.

I was writing my previous post at the same time Kaimick was writing his, so I didn’t see his post when I posted mine. I want to give some details about my proposed tier.

Tier 1 1-6
Tier 2 7-12
Tier 3 13-18
Tier 4 19-24
Each tier has its own scores for 9 weeks

Take tier 1 for example, 9 combo (123,124,125,126,134,135,136,145,146)
For 9 weeks the match sequence is random so it can be 123 for week 1, 146 for week 2, etc. At the end of 9 weeks (1 season is 9 weeks), there is a total score for ranking each tier. Swap 6 and 7, 12 and 13, 18 and 19.

So basically, now is time 0 and we have the current rank as it is. Take current 12 at time 0 as example.

9 weeks later (end of season 1), current 12 might do so well and rank #1 in tier 2 (which is 7), it will be swapped with 6 and play in tier 1. So yeah if lucky, it can play against 1 at week 10 (season 2). After final match at week 18 (end of season 2), if the current 12 (at time 0) didn’t stand a chance and did so bad in tier 1 (6 at week 18 season 2), it will go back down to tier 2 again for season 3 (swap with 7). But it learns something when playing against 1-5 and they can come back for revange at season 4 if they win #1 again in tier 2 at season 3.

That is just an idea. At least we don’t play with the same servers over and over again and learn nothing new. :)

Severs have different play style. The current top 3 are the best for the moment, does not necessarily mean they will always beat the servers ranked 4-6. Even if 6 under-matched 1, 6 will learn something and might help them get to 5 because of this experience. The proposal is to allow the chance to have 4-6 mix with 1-3 for improved playing and learning experience.

So I suggest make each tier 6 servers (4 tiers for 24 NA servers) competing each other for a period (maybe 9 weeks so that each server in a tier fight at least once to each other). Rank each tier at the end of 1 period and then swap 6 and 7, 12 and 13, 18 and 19 after each period. And make color rotation in each tier random so that people aiming for world completion won’t get so flustrated against servers who defend their BL so well and always occupy that same color for weeks.

Currently I see color only matters in the stretagic sense is the EB map. But I am sure most WvW dedicated guilds are already familiar with the map, so that probably won’t make much of a difference. :P

Plus people might actually get hot blooded (fury – for great justice XD) against higher rank servers, so you never know what the outcome can be until you try. :P The point is to make different servers to have a chance to try each other and hopefully they can increase a tier for more challange. The playing experience would be better than as it is imo. ^^ This can also prevent serve gank since you won’t always with the same servers for weeks.

Please find a scheme that we can rotate colors more often and fight different servers. The current scheme we are fighting the same servers over and over and sitting at the same color for a long time. I just start to feel sick seeing certain guilds.

It doesn’t have to be totally random. We can have it like a tournment style to match different servers weekly and rank the servers for a season.

awful levelling experience

Hi, OP did mention he just returned to the game. I had similiar experience when I left the game for some time and came back. To be honest the zones were not appealing to play with at all, the same reason why I left the game before. I just wanted to get a character to lv 80 and see how it went so I came to level it up.

Once you reach lv 80, there are suddenly many things you can do and the game actually starts to feel interesting. Like getting full exotic gears, dungeon runs (no good when you are low level, plus you often get kicked by lv 80 players the moment you are into a dungeon), major timer based world events, crafting legendary (as a long term goal), WvW, etc.

The leveling is really boring. One I would suggest is to do leveling in WvW. It’s more fun and rewarding, plus playing there feels more like to play in a MMO. Joikittenerg and do what a low level char can still do the best (taking control of siege weapons, or rez others, or something that high dps people usually won’t do). It can be fun

I want to say it again, low level leveling and grinding are boring even now when I try a new char. Repeating the same events in low level zones are boring. But I get by with it swaping to WvW from time to time. Give it a try Your country (server XD) requires your service :P

Smaller group you can play spvp. WvW is about zerg. There is stretagy of course. But the way I see it is whoever has bigger zerg 247 usually wins.

Meaning People from different time zones work together to maintain good zerg 247. Those who usually lost map fast is because thare are certain time gap that people go to work/sleep and little people are playing at that time. Imagine people from Asia are taking your map when you are gone working/sleeping XD.

So WvW is how to get a server guilds from different time zone in the real world to coordiate to each other and keep it (zerg/players) up. Stretagy only matters when all sides have compartive zerg size (or amount of players) to play with.

Hi, I am sure this must have been discussed in the forum many times. But stealth without a counter has too big of an advantage. There are too many times I have seen 1 thief against multiple players in taking a WvW camp and still see the thief is killing solo… He will just wait there till you all leave and steal the camp even though we know he is still there. And I have seen servers consisting of all thieves stealing the full map out in no time.

This is my suggestion. Just add burning/bleeding reveal its target for the condition duration as a 2nd effect. Not every build is playing these condition traits. Plus you have to hit someone with stealth at least once with these conditions to take effect. Experienced thieves can still avoid getting hit at the first place and kill others before they are revealed.

My suggestion is to reval the fire/blood caused by burn/bleed when someone in stealth is hit. Not to remove the stealth effect. Using condition removal can get you back to stealth if revealed.

Eisberg has a point. I do feel it’s a bit late for that for gw2 changing the legendary since many people already have some, especially there are ascended gears on the way. Would cause a chaos if they do change. It probably would have to be another new game who can design something around that.

As for the snowflake taste for uinqueness, I actually feel what you mean. Though there are business out there that was not looking good during market evaluation. They actually turn out pretty good after the product hits the market. Point is you never know till you try.

Not so keen on ‘win X so many times’, but I’d definitely find it impressive if Legendaries had some sort of challenge attached to them. Maybe an exhausting 3-hour (if perfectly done, of course) jumping puzzle to reach the top of a mountain/structure for the key component to some air-based legendary weapon, or completing every temple in a certain order with a special (suicide-inducingly hard) twist in the same day, or commanding a force to capture SM castle and every garrison and holding them all simultaneously.

Notice how painful to read that is?

It’s because they’d be an outstanding feat to accomplish. One may even call them legendary.

Indeed, one has to perform legendary deed to become legendary :P

I understand your concern. This is some kind of pain to get really good stuff playing games. When people play games, they want to relax and get rewards and have fun. So aim for best buyable gears, whcih are good to handle most situations in the game.

Only the dedicated should care about getting legendary. They are not necessary the best gear statwise. Just unique.

Hi Sostronk, thx for the support :P Though I am not trying to critisize Anet. Gw2 is quite fun to play as it is, and that is why I am posting in its forum and giving some ideas.

I am talking about current trend of gaming. It seems the word legendary = top tier gear. Take diablo 3 as an example. So many legendary with random stats and the end result is some different prices in the trading post. Yeah, it’s about trading again. And with new patches old good legendary may become trash and people just rage quit. :P

I like gw2 having exotic as best buyable gears. At least for the majority of players who farm daily and exotics are good goal (It took me a month to get a full set and runes for one character). For pro players, maybe they will want to get this 1 of the kind overpower legendary sword and join the honorable list of its ownership? Or became a legendary chef who owns a shop in divinty reach in a particular server that people want to take a line to get some special food :P This will +1 to guesting.

This contradicts the rest of your statement essentially and is the only thing i agree with . You see the great thing about GW is that I can play it the way I want and still get a legendary even if it takes a lot longer than the guy that farmed it.

Hi, I can see where you go. People want to be rewarded when they put efforts into it. That is fine and that should be the result of exotic gears, the most expansive gears buyable.

Legendary is unique and should be harder to get. For example. You won pvp xx times for a xx period and you were rewarded by a legendary item of some title. However if you start losing the matches or you cannot keep up the tournments or whatever conditions, the item is taken away from you and someone else who fullfills the conditions get it. Your character joins the list of its owner history or something.

The point is there is only one legendary item of tht kind and one owner at a time. It does not stay on the same owner forever and old owner joins some sort of honor list to be remembered. :P Just as an example.

OP, There’s hundreds of posts exactly the same as this. Its not unique, its tiresome. If that is your definition of “legendary” then go ahead and attach some deed and story to YOUR legendary. Nobody is stopping you.

Nearly every game nowadays has legendary tier gears and most games, if not all, I find has a price tag. Meaning they can be bought by game currency one way or another. The result is that the so called legendary gears are usually carried around by rich people. I mean the exotic gears should be enough to be the highest priced gear already and have the top stats.

But really I feel a legendary should be unique and whoever carry them have certain deeds. For example, someone who has won xx pvp tournments for xx period of time. Or some commander who had lead WvW to victory + some other conditions, etc. Or some pve player who has fullfill some dynamic events which cannot be repeated by other players, hence unique. I don’t know how much coding it requires to make this happen, but that is just a technical issue imo.

And a legendary doesn’t have to be some crazy stat gear. it can be something with unique element in it. And also they have unique skins like gw2 currently has now so that people will recognize someone carrying a legendary immediately.

I just thought it’d be nice to meet someone in game who is some sort of legendary character, who carries a unique legendary something with a true fun story behind it. This will make the social part of gaming more appealing (oh wow, you are that guy who beat something in xx events. How did you do it? please do tell your story). Rather than (Oh you got Eternity, so do I :P Other players QQ on the side, cause they know you can get them by 1×00 gold. Period)

In my opinion, a legendary something can only has 1. In some cases they can have few multiple. For example, some legendary Chef had 7 cooking tools or some legendary smith made 13 katana as his last work. They are scattered all over the kingdom somewhere to be found.

Even better, make a player legendary crafter (with some requirements) rather than lv 400 is the end of story. Then that player can make 1 unique named item or something with special attribute that can only be used after the character is retired (retire is a concept that the character becomes history, yeah he is dead dead. but you can create new character from a reitred one to inherit some attributes).

So I just want to share my opinion regarding to what a legendary is to me. And I thought it would increase the overall experience of a game. Rather than money owns everying like the real world we are living as of today. Because I don’t wish to see MMO is purely a simulation/replica of the real world… Should be a place where everyone can dream to be unique. :P
