Am I fighting a phantom army

I logon a bit later and try again. This time someone was throwing 5 rams outside of enemy hill just for fun. Instead of me seeing them laid one by one, I saw it was nothing in the open and all of a sudden all 5 rams appeared from thin air. It’s like my video frame is updated every 3-5 sec XD. I don’t know what can be done to improve this… But hopefully this only happens today.

I think the red post is just telling people that you don’t participate in wvw often enough for the duration, you won’t get reward. By going to top tiers, you will probably not be able to enter wvw often enough because of queue, and hence no reward at the end of season and you will get nothing XD but only wasting transfering fees. Then people will start transfer down to silver league, which I think is the best spot to play considering the no queue gaming experience and ok reward. Bronze league might not be challanging to those who are used at top tiers due to smaller player base. Again, best spot is in silver league. But if you have too much money and don’t know where to spend, do try all 3 leagues and share your experience. :P

So I was fighting inside a invader zerg and I know a line of ward is knocking me down but I cannot see it at all. Then I died and wp to garri and defended inside lord. I died 3 times and was able to use the garri wp 3 times to get back to fight within 15-20 sec. Don’t know if this is a bug that wp was able to stay that long without contested. Then I died and wp and went to longview which was contested. I was standing on the hill across the gate and saw nothing for about 5 sec. Then suddenly a zerg just appeared at the gate from thin air… So I start to think all the pass 20 min I was fighting some sort of ghosts and died from something? I feel it’s too long to be some lag. Feels more like it was a simulated scenerio, but not the real people in real time… This latency is way too long if that is what it is.

This is bad, I want to help the server. But our time zone player base is dying because Anet keep changing plans. And this kind of tech issue is killing me.

Ideally soulbound is good if you play the game 247 and have enough wxp for all. You just need to grind them in wxp train.

Unfortunately, I don’t actually play wvw that much now ever since they introduce the wxp skill rank system. Only when people shout in LA asking for help to defend or friends call. Reason is simple, all my char are little in wxp and I just don’t want to bother to level them all. Plus there is no wxp train in certain time zone. Any of my char is noob to the invader’s eye even though I had more than 2500 hr previously in wvw. XD I don’t even want to touch siege when you know others have siege mastery.

I am just reading forum to see if anything new in wvw and see if it can bring interest back to people. But then if they do change it to account bound now, I am not sure if I still have the enthusiasm to play wvw as much as I once had ’casue I am away from it too long. XD

Uhh, is that for the Monthly? It was briefly available at the start of the month, but then got replaced with new achievements due to a technical glitch. If you’re seeing that in your “achievements almost complete” tracker, you probably can’t progress it right now because it’s not actually part of the current Monthly (Veteran Slayer is the Monthly requirement now, I believe). It should go away when October rolls around.

Hi, for this achievement I have been sitting at 59/60 for a long time. Does it have to be slaying every single champion in the game at least 1 time? I don’t think champions from dragon timer and Scarlet events count. I sometimes also kill champions like troll in queendale, but it doesn’t seem to count either. What champion counts? Thank you ^^

I am a pug, and I don’t see I’d ever beat it unless I happen to enter a map that there is an organized group doing it (have not had the luck yet). But atm I don’t even bother going to that map anyway. For me old Tequatl was a place to get a rare as a daily thing. Now it’s just off my list, which is ok since I really don’t want to do so many daily things anyway.

Though I would hope Anet implements the challange things in the live story, which they can create them anytime whenever they want. Not change old/permanent contents to make them super difficult. The reason is because they will kill solo players who only play the game as a game but not as a mmo game. If every event in the game required coordinated effort, there is no room for them.

It’s so flustrating to get dc so often when the boss hp is low and u cannot get back to fight becuase you will end up in overflow. And you would stay far from the zerg to avoid dc. Now there is a timer so you really should try to hit the boss before you fail it… The funy part is you did all the pre-events but got dc from the main for nothing.

The problem with wvw is you only play for your server. What if we just keep the current matchup up system, and once in a while setup a competition in the form of leagues.

For example 3-4 leagues for NA (this number depends on how many people enter the competition.) Each league has 3 colors as usual. The difference now is let guild from any server manually register which league and which color they want to be in whenever there is a league event (just like a live story in pve, league event is the live story in wvw happening once in a while). And already registered guilds can be seen by everyone so that people know which league and color they are in so that you can decide where you want to join.

If 3 or 4 leagues are not enough, just open more to fill up people who register late. This way you get to play with your server regularly and keep the server community tie (we are still using the current system), and when there is a league competition you get to play with/against guilds/friends/foes you want. Say just make the league event happen twice in a year and last xx weeks each or something like that.

my server is mid server. But sometimes there are epic big zerg fights and then everything became slow motion and no skills are working. Just yesterday I was playing to retake our EB keep. The fight was epic. I died a lot and then finally it seemed we were capping it soon and I got dc’ed in battle. So, I ended up dead in LA after reboot. Then I tried to enter EB map immediately, but it was queued XD. So all those effort ended up for nothing but a repair bill XD. Remind me of the same thing happening to Jormag fight when it’s nearly dead. You got dc and couldn’t enter the map after doing it for half hour XD.

Does this happen in upper tier a lot? Or people just have good PC and internet? If so, why do people play wvw in upper tier? stay in zerg, stay far, press 1, avoid dc, and there you go rootbags from somewhere… Feels like Scarlet fight…. XD

I don’t know how Anet make money out of this game. But I do know there is no monthly subscription fee of this game. If Anet makes money out of gem store, good for them and us. They will use some of the money they make to make the game better. Just my wishful opinion XD. We should show some support guys ^^

People taked about this rune set a lot, so I tried to buy them and geared dire sets on a hammer war (quite expansive actually ><). It’s pretty good actually and fun to play. Not bad to run around inside a zerg freely and lively XD.

However, against 2 conditional thieves, Me and my 2 other experienced guard and ele friends are still very dead. So no nerf plz (consider they are so expansive ><) before anything can OP thieves.

The fact that they are so strong is why they are so expensive (and limited supply).

Sounds like you guys were seriously outplaid though… thieves aren’t hard to defeat esp. in this current meta… and you outnumbered them…

Yeah we outnumbered them by 1 and we lost. We managed to down 1 during the fight, but he was stealth rez by the other. I was focused at the start of the fight (probably because my war is a wxp rank 5 noob ^^), and that’s why I can feel how hurt it is when 2 conditional thieves focus on you.

My armor 4k and hp 45k in rampage form was down to 1/8 hp by their initial burst. This totally surprised me and got me make mistake and got me down sooner than supposed to. I do modify my build a bit after this fight so that I will be ready if this happen again. Though the confusion didn’t stop the 2 coordinated good thieve and that is the point. The total gear costs (rune + armor + trinket without backpack) are around 80 G. So if it’s going to be nerfed, plz also have a refund option XD. Otherwise, it is just a once in a while I will use it for fun build. :P

Healing builds are working pretty well. Might kill slower but works wonder if you see the whole party are almost always full hp at all times.

Happened to me once. Were in a group with 4 people from the same guild. Then they said a friend was up and wanted to play. Few second later someone call my name and said ty for the party and I got kicked before I had a chance to respond. And that was also near the end of a dungeon run.

It’s unfortunately a risk of all pug face. It’s up to Anet to set some constraints to disallow kicking in certain sceneros.

Used to happen to me all the time. Whenever there are people from same guilds, I don’t talk in the game anymore. They kick you when you disagree. Also, I don’t talk if there are players from your server big guilds (they make rumers on you behind you ‘cause I got people I don’t know talking about me for something I have no clue) and from people from this week’s wvw opponent servers.

By talking I mean discussing how to play the dungeon path smooth and quick (not trash talk). I only pug from lfg, so there are some common fast playthrough by bugs. But sometimes you will pug with people who come from same guild and apprantly don’t do dungeon often. You offered advice, somehow seems to hurt their pride, and got kicked. It will be smart not to talk in dungeons anymore just to do your daily fast runs.

If all 5 players are pug (no one from same guild), I find you only get kicked when you play bad.

If a portion of players come from the same guild (meaning some of them know each other), try not to talk and just play along. I have seen people getting kicked by conversations they don’t like but not by skills.

Try not to pug with people from your server, especially from some known guilds (unless you know the players). This is left for you to figure out why XD. Things can get complicating.

And yeah don’t play different even if the others don’t play the way people usually do.

I am at 11/13. I did all of them 3+ times. Getting very tired trying to figure out which ones missed and keep trying. I suspect the 2 I missed might be Gendarran Fields and Bloodtide coast, The reason is because those were the 2 maps I got dc when I were doing them the first time.

When I got dc, my gw2 client actually shut down and another bug report software just kicked out asking if I want to report. Though I didn’t really report but want to get back into the map asap. But the events were over when I got in, so I suspect this would be the cause. They don’t advance the point even after I play them again normally without dc in a later time.

Hi, I am not sure if anyone else is getting this problem. I have been sitting at 11/13 for a while. I am pretty sure I have done all 13 maps multiple times. I even logged the ones I have done (100% sure and no dc in map), but I am still sitting at 11/13. Hopefully someone can help Would be nice if there is a way to know which 2 maps I am missing so that I can just focus on doing those 2 maps till it works.

For some reason, people blame ranger in dungeons. I find bow ranger with pierce trait in hotw p1 is fun and powerful against final boss. Same as rifle warior with pierce.

For some reason, people talk about PUG like it’s a disease and bad. I say it’s all about communication. Many of these PUG know a lot of tricks and you never know what you can learn from them. It’s all random encounter of course, good or bad.

No one should ever go afk untold in a dungeon. If they know in the next coming 30 min or so they might have to go afk sometime, they should not join a dungeon or party play since they would waste people’s time waiting/dying for you. Unless they told people ahead and others are ok with it.

If people are decent/care/concern/team work with others, none of the bad stuff would happen and party play would be much fun. Bad things happen only because people get selfish, don’t communicate, bad temper, no patience, and all the nagtive things that a game is opposed to.

My bad dungeon experience lately was someone host a game and swap char wanting to level up alt when boss was about to die and we all got kicked after 30 min play XD.

As they gradually add new mastery and skills on the go and without a way to reset, I find myself simply cannot keep it up. I have not played much of wvw except 15 min with zerg for the daily, and I don’t think I will till they make wxp acc bound. That’s the reality to me and some others I know. Don’t have umlimited life time to progress each character XD ’cause I want to play a game casually. BTW, all my char are geared for survival scouts in wvw, so char progression logic does not work to me. They are all scouts XD.

As the title suggests, the token nerf is a killer. But every time I read forum posts, the worst thing I feel is that there are people posting unrelated stuff or making fun of a serious issue. The game content won’t kill a game, but the bad gaming communicty will, especially for a mmo.

It has been 2 hours lfg for hotw p1 XD. There was once 1 group came up lf1m, and it was full in 3 sec… Oh well, I am going to miss some dungeon runs today again XD. The game is really designed to keep people from playing what they want. Got to change it soon. I don’t want to reflesh lfg the whole night for nothing everyday.

Ok, I come back from dinner. Including my earlier post, it has been an hour. The only dungeons that seem to be active over these period were AC, COF, TA, and Arah. The rest look empty (not even any history). This is at 7:30 AM USA east coast time (7:30 PM my time). You could get a staff to verify that. Unless no one cares about the minority player base over here.

If you are afraid of people gold farming, how about just have the reward reset every 2 hour. If there are people HC enough to do the same dungeon every 2 hours, they deserve the reward. And at least it won’t look so empty on gw2lfg. I am not going to click on reflesh the gw2lfg the rest of the night XD. I don’t even care about alts getting the same amount of 60 tokens any more. Just need to get into a group reliabily is more important now.

BTW, I miseed HOTW, CM, SE, COE, and Arah for days. I guess thee are popular and people do it asap. The only dungeons that are active at my time zone now is cof, ac, and sometimes ta (ta takes some time to find people too). The gold reward is good only if you get to play.

I guess the point of creating an alt is to play with it, not to get extra rewards. The “normal” reward is supposed to be a daily bonus, just like with pretty much everything else.

I hope you don’t see this game as a job.

Problem is that it has never been extra rewards. Total amout of play time is the same and total amount of tokens gained are the same. The difference is for example

Before nerf: you get 180 ac tokens by playing 3 ac p1 from 3 alts for 1 hour
After nerf: you get 60 ac tokens, 60 cof tokens, 60 se token, played by 1 main for 1 hour

Total time is the same, total amount of tokens are the same. Except now you have to make it a daily job to achieve your goal if you need 1 type of tokens only. And the other tokens that you don’t need will just sit there until maybe they have some use in the future. And if you happen to not have the mood to play that dungeon sometimes, it will take even longer. No offense, but Anet creates the job for us.

I understand Anet must have their reason doing this since they must have all sort of data/statistics showing some sort of abuse of dungeon runs, so they do nerfs. But forum is where some legit players can complain right? Hope they reconsider.

I am not even a farmer XD. I just suddenly need 7 superior rune of monk from 840 ac dungeon tokens. I just did ac p1 p3 and got 120. Cannot find people who want to do p2. So I guess it will take me a week to get the job done.

If I just want exotic armors, I would just join the wvw zerg and get the badges and then buy them in wvw. They are so easy and cheap. The reason for me to run certain dungeons with mutliple alts before the nerf, I run it because I need certain skins/runes and exotic weapons.

For example, I suddenly feel like to play a cleric build and need the superior rune of monk. It’s not sold on TP but can only be acquired from the AC dungeon tokens. Seriously I have not touched AC dungeons ever since it became time comsuming to play because of ccertain bosses. I don’t enjoy getting wiped then some people leave and the rest have to wait for new people coming in. Anyway, a rune is 120 tokens and I need 840 tokens for 7 (underwater helm need the rune too). So before the nerf it takes 2 days to get them all if I use 7 alts to focus on 1 path only. After the nerf, it takes 14 days for 1 alts to play on 1 path only. Part of reason I don’t grind dungeon is because it’s only 20 token after the 1st try which is inefficient to play.

Note that I do not play AC because I want to play it or want to farm it. I play because I suddenly need the tokens. So in order to play a new build that just came out in my mind, I now have to spend 14 days to get the rune in a dungeon I don’t really want to play. Should I just forget about trying this build all together? If any new build that I want to try have so much time needed ahead, should I bother playing new builds at all?

I agree playing multile alts are for fun. But they have to be geared/skined for different builds which took a lot of time before the nerf already. With so many changes that is not in favor with people who have multiple alts in dungeon/wvw and look like things have to take a long time to accomplish, it’s really getting less incentive to continue on.

Even in the runs I did yesterday I saw a lot of new players (although they insist the know the dungeon their behavior speaks for itself). Also they all insist on killing all champions…

Generally speaking,
I get how this keeps alts from being an advantage, but I don’t get how it makes alts a disadvantage or how it would keep you from playing whatever the heck you want to play in a dungeon. Unless, of course, you rolled an alt specifically for said advantage and not out of any genuine desire to play the class.

If you played 8 chars, you are supposed to have some degree of advantage of something over others who only have 1 char. Because you spent time investing on them. Leveing them take a lot of time! The way it goes now, a new player who just pick up a game from the store and play one char will gain the same amount of things comparing to an old player who play the game for the whloe year. Just simply unfair.

Surely you will have fun playing different ones from time to time, but with the limited play time every day you will gradually pick a main to play. So having the other 7 gave you an adcantage of getting more tokens in a short time when you need the tokens from time to time. Again this nerf just put you into the shoes of a new player. They make a fool of old player that is all.

Supplement, I think my dragon timer life is over too. It’s all about efficiency. Killing Jormag takes 15-20 min for 1 rare drop. The same amout of time in Crown Pavilion, I can get 3+ rares XD. Let’s all go farm there before it’s getting nerfed. :P

I didn’t know about this nerf ’cause I had not done any dungeon yet since the update, but if this is true I guess my dungeon life is pretty much over.

I used to run dungeons by different chars to get 60 tokens from each just like the OP. With this nerf, I guess alts are just for occusional fun. Why have I not done any dungeon yet? Because zerging in Crown Pavilion is more efficient than anywhere else in the game imo. With near 300 MF, you get rares nearly every 2 champ kills. And with questing you can hit events so fast and farm super efficient.

But that is farming/grinding. Even though it’s rewarding, people will get bored soon. It’s a pve zerging with a wp nearby and no need to think and risk free comparing to wvw zerging. I like it no doubt for farming. But I’d still need to do dungeon to get the tokens for skins. With this nerf, I guess I will just farm in Crown Pavilion and just buy skins from TP.

Another thing about Crown Pavilion farming, it’s also good for leveling alts. I head people level up pretty efficiently in there. If fact, let’s just all play the game in Crown Pavilion and forget about other dungeons/wvw/pve maps XD. When I open up my friend list, 80% of them are in there XD. Now that multiple chars have no advantage in wvw due to low ranks each, and cannot farm tokens efficiently in dungeons as the OP suggested, I don’t know where else to go other than Crown Pavilion.

I understand the character progression idea. In reality, I only pretty much gain 2-4 levels in wxp ranks per night when I spend 2 hours in wvw, and no I don’t just zerg in the 2 hours so no max wxp.

I have 8 lv 80 characters needed to level up wxp ranks, each has zerker, tank, healer builds geared depending on what I want to play at the time. So 4 levels per night shared by 8 characters XD. I have not touched wvw for weeks ever since I figured out I can’t play it efficiently this way if I want to play different builds to max fun. So if I want to play by builds, might as well do it in dungeons.

Also there is some dungeon changes coming up. It almost makes me feel playing multiple chars is a wrong thing to do, not encouraged by anet, and is punished in some way. After spending so much time leveling up all of them to 80 and getting punished, I am feeling like an idiot.

All they need is to have dungeons with difficulty settings. For example 1-10. So you can either solo or pug with 1-4 people (5 player max). If you are really good at soloing, lv 3-4 might be the highest you can get. Higher than that you might need to pug others.

Currently all gw2 dungeons need to have 5 players fixed. I don’t know why we need this since there is no trinity class. ie. tank, healer, dps specific. All we do is take turn to aggro mob in combat and 5 seems to be the most doable count. Because of this design, solo in current dungeon is not possible since the mob is designed to fight 5 people and de-aggroing resets the mob.

So I agreed with the OP to have single dungeon added because same as the OP a lot of my friends are not playing now too XD. I use gw2lfg as well but sometimes it freezes.

If I remember, there are 10 personalities. All they do is giving different conversations from npc.

How about making personality to add variation to the following.
1. food buffs (or crafting in general)
2. skill effects

For all I need atm is one character maxs chef to 400 and that’s it. No one will train another char and max it to 400 other than for leveling purpose. What if the food adds variations based on personality. For example, some food with 70 precision. With different personality, it will have +70 precision (/-) (5%-20% by RNG). But for another food maybe with 70 vit, it actually gives (-/) (5%-15% by RNG). This makes some personality good at making certain food or something like that.

For skill effects, same thing if we can have for example damage/duration (+/-) X%. This will add more uniqueness of a character and actually imply more builds to try. For example, a mermer with captivating personality have longer confuse duration while with barbaric personality have higher confusion damage/tick. Something like that.

The point is to make personality count for something. You can make it add variations to anything other than what I suggested. For a MMO game I think uniqueness is good. Plus it gives people initiative to roll new chars. And good for market too since some perfectly rolled food buffs will be worth a lot on trading post. (How did diablo 2 succeed? because it has RNG for item rolls and making both MF farming/crafting very rewarding)

There is time for PvP, and there is time that people just want PvE. When you are on the PvE mood, getting harassed/killed by people would just destroy the mood to play the game all together. Not everyone wants to play games so tense 247.

The subject title is misleading, but I am assuming you mean to remove pvp on certain areas of wvw maps. Or enable some mode that other palyers cannot fight you when you don’t want to.

I use every of my work breaks (10-15 min) to do dragon timer, daily achievements. From time to time I have to go to do the daily in WvW maps such as JP, mining, enemy types, etc. And a lot of times there are some, I called twisted minded players, who just have to chase you half the map when you obviously show no intention to fight and I run away at the very beginning. My schedule of finishing my daily in those 10-15 min are usually ruined. Yeah, I’d love the non-fighting mode. Those players totally ruin the mood of my day, and ultimately my rage quiting the game one day.

I’d vote to keep the RNG. Every server has different culture. Some are polite with sportsmanship, while some are ruthless with twisted minded players as the majority. I’d not want to be playing wvw all the time with those in the later case ‘cause it’s bad for health and will be the cause of poeple not playing the game for long. Scores don’t really matter, sportsmanship does.

And last time I checked, thieves had ranged aoe for attacking towers so don’t give me that.

I had met one skilled thief who used SB to solo clear our overlook siege (cannon, treb). Since the SB attack can bounce, it end up clearing other sieges near the cannon as well. By doing so, he was rooting for the following zerg attack to our overlook for his server. Took him 10 min but he did it since we couldn’t get him going into stealth when people jump at him. He managed to kill 2 of our guy too.

So thief is good at many thing if playing right. Skirtmish, ct wp, clear siege, escort yak, scouting, track enemy zerg safe and pick up a few heads who fall behind, troll people to rage quit, etc. XD And thief is good at zerg fight too by picking off some people who is away from main group and reduce their number. Dagger storm is nice.

If you look closely, most of those are achieved by the stealth skill. If you nerf stealth, it’s equivalent to kill the thief class. As much as stealth is annoying when you are not on the receiving end, we should talk more about how to counter instead of nerfing it imo.

If possible, plz just change the thief name to assassin. Beacuse the above mentioned tasks sounds like what an assassin does. It will justify many things XD.

Why do i have to repair in WvW?

Many casual pve players play wvw with zerker gear. They don’t have a pvt set just for wvw. So they end up dying when zerg skill lags build up and become uncontrollable.

So if you are really into wvw, you will have to spend a one time cost for pvt gears (I suggest getting these from SE dungeon runs, cheap and easy since you are pve oriented plus the grenth temple for trinkets). Also every time you change between pve and wvw you will spend on resetting traits (3+ silver).

So you would spend quite some just to set things up. But comparing to dying with zerker gear often, it might be worth it if you do wvw often too.

If you only have time for playing 1 char and want to do both pve and wvw efficiently, I would go for a zerker LB/SB/survival ranger. It works wonders in any content imo.

I don’t know where to put this, so I put it in bug thread.

Dodge (v) direction is backward while standing still unless you are running or have the direction button pressed so it will dodge towards the direction.

I don’t know why but I have a lot of deaths on the following scenerio. I have ‘x’ assigned to change char facing direction 180 degree. So I can have a mean of quickly running back towards the opposite direction when things get ugly ahead. But sometimes things are really getting super ugly and I usually have to make the turn and immediately do dodge. It’s supposed to dodge away after I turn, but often somehow it dodge back into the nasty place and got me killed.

I think this might be related to the ‘x’ turn 180 degree button. Sometimes when I clicked it only once, and it’s supposed to turn and round away. But somehow it keeps turning back toward where the target cursor originally is, automatically. So you end up keep push the turn button and the camara is turning circles utile you point your target cursor away or you got killed. Plz fix this, don’t automatically turn back to where the target cursor is, this really kills when the battle gets nasty and you have short reaction time.

Well, I actually never use crafting as the means of leveling. My first char guardian was leveled by map pve all the way to 80 and is the only char that has world completion atm. Then I started playing WvW at that time and felt WvW was good for me to continue playing gw2. Then I started to feel like to play other professions for zerg sup/breaking so I started leveling others all in WvW after they are lv 10+ in pve.

Note that wxp system only came out when I was on my leveling the 3rd char. So my first 2 chars has little wxp even now (even though I am good at using them comparing to other chars). And currently my highest rank char is at lv 40 XD. It’s a joke really. I have so little skill points to be good explained below.

Before they have wxp skills system, I never hesitate to use any kind of siege when a building is under attack. I will quickly grab mortar/treb/cata at sight and shoot them asap (ac is not my favorate probably because everyone can use it easily). I am very good at these long range sieges (80% chance to hit target on first shot, 100% after first usually). With the wxp system, I find myself not using them anymore. Simply because I feel someone else nearby who has those siege mastery should/might want to use them. And it usually ends up someone else who has bad shots using them from time to time. And I just watch them do it. So I am a defense guy who is afraid of using sieges because I have no mastery and little chance getting wxp playing defense. That’s why I feel this is a broke.

So you might say why not pick 1 char to specialize 1 skill mastery at a time, so each of different chars has different mastery maxed. Honestly I don’t think this will work. A lot of battles are situational. If you have to switch to another char and run back to battlefield, I am afraid the battle is over usually.

I am just glad some people feel the same way too. Thx for your input.
