Can you ask the Lesh Prince what it’s like being so fresh?
See you there Blu :)
Evan I appreciate your dedication by de-redding your post :>
Apologies for missing the post yesterday guys, so we will do a combo post today to wrap it up!
If you have a question to ask any ArenaNet developer that will be at Gamescom (I dont know who will be there unfortunately) or any of the Chinese all-stars, go ahead and post it! If your question is liked enough or if we get around to ask it, it will be asked in a live interview!
Please keep in mind that these interviews and as such the questions being answered are pending on if I am able to interview the person in question.
The interviews and all the promised Gamescom content will be posted over at my youtube channel
Q4 Brackets are now available for both regions, and schedule emails have been sent to all teams.
If you have a question to ask Zoose (Ele), Zombify (Necro), Kaypud (War/Guard), Supcutie (Mes/Thief), Phantaram (Ele), or the entirety of the NA team, go ahead and post it here along with who you want the question directed at. If your question is liked enough or if we are able to get to it, it will be asked in a live interview!
The interviews and all the promised Gamescom content will be posted over at my youtube channel
Hey there guys! As promised in the indiegogo campaign I will be conducting a series of interviews and getting other content while I am at Gamescom! Some of the interview questions will be predetermined by myself, but I also want to take some questions from you guys to ask the teams, players, and developers at the event. Well starting today we will be collecting those questions!
Starting today with the European team and over the next few days I will be making threads like this one both here and on the official forums to collect questions to ask. When I head to Germany next week, Im going to take the most popular and interesting questions to ask during the interviews themselves. The thread schedule will be as follows:
As we go through this threads, please keep in mind that these interviews are pending on if I am able to get an interview with the person/group in question.
With the explanation out of the way however, lets get to it!
If you have a question to ask ROM, Tage, Helseth, Denshee, Sizer, or the entirety of TM, go ahead and post it here along with who you want the question directed at. If your question is liked enough or if we are able to get to it, it will be asked in a live interview!
The interviews and all the promised Gamescom content will be posted over at my youtube channel
No problem BLU! Btw congratz on getting to gamescom, I contributed what I could :)
Thanks :D
If you could list me under multi-class that would be appreciated. I change around the class I play fairly often :>
Also thanks for adding me.
Full Schedule should be coming out via mass email for Q3 Teams today.
EU Q3 Now Available.
There are a few reasons as to why this may be. The first of which calls back to the mission statement of ToL I’m the first place.
“This PvP tournament is open to players of all skill levels, and all teams that win so much as a single round will walk away with a prize.”
Not every tournament is about showing you the highest tier of skilled play. Some, such as the weeklies, are done for fun and community building more than anything. It is no secret that there are not many super competitive teams, a lot of the reason for that has been the lack of an incentive. A tournament with prizing for just about 50% of it’s participants, and exclusive prizes such as the llama mini at that, I think are a pretty good kicker to get a group of friends together and get serious.
We had over 400 teams and 2,000 players signing up for this one event, so obviously something is being done right. If we ignored the qualifiers and just went straight to inviting the “top” teams, why would any team every want to try and jump into this game in the first place? With that said, a lot of these teams are new and the gap between them and more established squads is going to be rather apparent, as OP was referring to on Sunday’s stream. As the scene (hopefully) continues to grow and incentives continue to rise a lot of this will start to disperse. I get asked by about 5-10 prior high tier players that since moved on to games a month asking what’s coming up in the scene, and very often they hear enough to want to venture back into guild wars. Back to the point at hand however, with 128 teams per region every matchup unfortunately is not going to be Team Paradigm vs Car Crash from the EU PAX Quals, especially with the current size of the “higher tier” scene.
The qualifiers also created an interesting issue in themselves with them being on separate dates. Some of them became more congested than others (Q3 NA specifically) with “good teams” due to availability, which skewed the potential teams that would more than likely end up in the grand finals quite a bit, however we’ve already started talks about how to fix this.
Back to what I was saying about more “community” driven events however, I like to think of the qualifiers as more of one of these. We’re seeing a whole boat load of new faces, and some of them may be surprising you more than others. That super duper high tier play that everyone craves will be seen once we have our eight invitees to the grand finals later in August, so look forward to that a bit more. ^_^
Thanks for reading.

Thanks so much guys
Suuuuper awesome Ill be able to go! Once I’ve confirmed the last details (finding a hotel in Cologne is hard yo) Ill be making posts both here and on Reddit to gather questions to ask players, devs, and more
For those that are unable to view a stream or want to keep up, I’ve got a reddit live thread up that i’ll be updating throughout the day.
I love buffing zerker specs regardless of class. I think if they continue with this it will help shift the meta out of the bunker/ultra tanky meta we have now.
Agreed.
Q2 EU Bracket done and published within the next hour or two. NA Bracket for Q2 out by tonight at the latest. There is an issue with a team we need to clear up.
Hey there. I believe I got around to replying to everyone that PM’d me. Go ahead and check your messages, if you still haven’t managed to get anything yet go ahead and shoot me a PM in game and Ill make sure it gets sorted out!
Were working on getting them up to YT as well.
I just would like to say in advance that if the tone or wording I use in this post offends anyone, I do apologize, this is an extremely important issue to me, and I would like to have my chance to retaliate to some of the comments being made today.
So to reply to the phrase in the title, maybe I’m not. That does not, however, mean I lack the commitment or the drive to get myself to that level.
When I first heard about Gamescom I was hype, same as anybody else was because holy kitten we actually have a Guild Wars LAN happening again. I had thought there would be an opportunity for me to shoutcast this event, but unfortunately ArenaNet was unable to accommodate this. I then tried to see if there was anyway I would be able to send myself there, but alas as with any American college student I dont have the 2500 USD or more to send myself to Germany, especially with this little notice.
When this fact finally sunk into me it sucked, and I was mad, not at ArenaNet, because I understand fine that stuff happens, but mad in general that, for the second time now, I wouldn’t be able to go to a Guild Wars event LIVE and meet the people I have worked besides and become friends with over the past two years now. It was then that I was invited as one of the all stars.
At first glance I was surprised too, because again, for the majority of my time in this game I have been a caster, and I haven’t played on an official team in quite some time, but seeing as this was my only chance to go and I have no guarantee there will ever be another GW2 LAN, I took this as an opportunity to better myself.
I am 300% committed to earning my nomination. Quite a few top tier players have already told me that my communication and general team play is good, and that only my mechanical skill needs work. If that means I have to spend 12, 18, or more hours each day playing and getting myself to the level of others on that list, I will do it. There is still over a month between now and Gamescom, and I personally believe that by the time it rolls around, I can be ready. I have no job, this is my job. I run tournaments and cast Guild Wars. That leaves me with all the free time I need to play, practice and improve.
My life for the past two years now has been (as pathetic as this sounds) about 90% Guild Wars and attempting to keep the scene alive, and the opportunity to finally see that evolve into a live event would mean more than the world to me. If you don’t believe I can prepare myself, that’s fine, but if you do, your votes and faith in me would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
Im going to talk a bit about my thoughts on me being on the list tonight.
Email was just sent to all teams with full information.
Good stuff. Looking forward to playing a lot of new teams in tpvp. Hey Blu, I know it would be a lot of work, but is there any chance we could get player names in the teams. Perhaps summon one of your minions to help
http://battlefy.com/mistpedia/tournament-of-legends-2/53bd76c5f7cbde1d090f5160/teams
Ill see if I can summon a minion to do it, if not if I get some spare time Ill see about adding in players, it is a bit of a time consuming process but Ill see if we can swing it.
EU Q1 Brackets now available

Everyone looking at this thread
Second wave of invites went out. As of this point every valid North American team that signed up has been invited.
What about EU?
Second EU Wave was also sent out, but there were A LOT more EU teams signed up.

Any updates?
Were still working on getting a full list of confirmed teams for at least Qualifier 1. A second wave of invites should be sent out tonight. We want to make sure we have a full list before we send out brackets so we don’t end up reshuffling them, which was one of the issues we had during ToL1
Out of curiosity, are you guys more interested on just getting a formal show for higher level players to express their opinions (probably w/o devs) or more like a direct interaction between devs and players on those issues (what SOTG was before)?
edit: Wurdz
“Here comes the bird sanctuary” :>
This usually seems to happen around big LS patches. The mass of new people coming into play new patches + any changes their sys devs are making to the servers seems to destabilize them around each patch. Kind of wish PvP servers were on a separate cluster but not sure how complicated/impossible that would be.
The first wave of European Invites have been sent. The following teams need to contact me due to invalidated emails.
Would you guys share with us the total number of NA/EU team applications?
I’ve got to clean up the form as there were a lot of duplicate submissions, but as of right now with those duplicates in play these are the stats I have. Ill give full stats once Ive gotten some time to clean it up.
Total Signups: 411 (Probably closer to 380 once cleaned)
Total EU Signups: 241 (~59% of total)
Total NA Signups: 170 (~41% of total)
Also as a bit of an aside, EU RSVP Emails are being sent out first thing tomorrow morning.
(edited by BLUna.7928)
The First Wave of Invitations has been sent out to NA Players. EU invitations will be sent out a little bit later as we are still sorting out the last few spots. The following NA teams need to contact me either in game or through email as the email they had listed was invalid
Hi I was just wondering, are we allowed to use already owned team names for example: Team Curse for a guild name? Or is it not allowed?
If you are just using the name I wouldn’t see any reason why TO’s would disallow it especially with the specific example you gave. If you are using the real brand’s logos along with the name however then TO’s will more than likely frown upon your actions.
When/if the real organization did come into play that is where you would run into issues especially if you played said team in a tournament but at the moment no third party organization has a sponsored team in this game :P
Signup form will remain open until 11:59PM PDT on June 30th (Today). This translates to 2:59AM EDT and 08:59 CEST on Tuesday Morning. Make sure you have your team’s signup submitted by this time as NO submissions will be accepted past this time.
As a reminder teams may still request roster changes until July 7th by emailing me at john@mistpedia.net with the appropriate information.
RSVP Emails will be sent out to invited teams over the course of the 30th-31st. Make sure you check your inbox for this and respond to it ASAP!
If you do not get an email in the first round do not be disappointed! We are expecting a decent number of teams to decline their invitation and more waves of emails will be sent out pending any declines!
More information on the brackets and play day procedures along with scheduling, casters, and locations of ToL2 streams will be coming soon, Stay Tuned!

Going off topic a bit from what’s currently being discussed, I think bashing the tournament for this is a bit unfair. Grouch confirmed this via a post today, and this is something that I have been saying for a long time. When they run events like this (Gamescom) and ToL it doesn’t take away from the balance team or PvP teams that are working on the actual game itself. There are third parties (like Mistpedia, ESL, and DPS) and actual devoted people at ANet working on these events.
Some of the more hardcore players and community members have been starving for an event like this to stimulate the stagnated PvP scene for months now, and Im sure a lot of them along with myself are extremely appreciative they are finally doing a live event. Im positive balance and pvp development would continue at the same speed regardless of if a tournament was happening or not.
On the “why should we have a tournament when the balance is kitten” note, I don’t agree with the point at all. Starcraft tournaments don’t get put to a complete halt because David Kim refuses to nerf Protoss, and Im sure similar balance concerns were around during large DOTA / LoL tournaments.
The biggest thing I want to put it is that yes, the game is not perfect, and there are outstanding balance issues, but from my own point of view if we were to have a LAN event I would much rather have it in this meta than in either of the previous two balance iterations.
Just my 2c on the matter.

Hi,
how will be noticed to a team if it’s inside the tournament?!
We’ll be contacting teams via email after signups close.
My team and I edited the google doc as well as sent you an email. Anything else we should do?
Nope! Just got through a round of emails tonight so go ahead and check to make sure your issue has been solved.
Do we have any updates on the matchups?
Not as of yet. None of that will be coming until at the earliest June 30th, and even then we still have to get everything finalized as to who is playing and in what matchups.
I’d like to know how many teams on NA & EU have signed up thus far.
As of this exact moment there are 203 submissions, not sure of regional splits and this does not factor out any troll or nonvalid entries yet.
According to the official announcement signups are done “on a first-come, first-served basis and will accommodate up to 128 teams”. Why are signups still open if the limit has been reached more than a day ago? I understand that you desire to have more teams in case some of them quit, but there are already too many teams and it started generating confusion.
The article is worded a bit weird. NA ToL, EU ToL, and CN ToL are technically three separate events, so there are 128 teams per region for a total of 256 teams that can be accommodated in the two events MP will be handling (EU and NA). Multiple dates also complicates filling in that entire quota of teams, which is why were keeping it open for any team to apply until the 30th.
Good to hear! Any word on the release date of the first bracket and/or teams signed up?
We do not have an estimate for that yet. Expect them to come out after signups and roster changes have been closed.
Perhaps Mistpedia should encourage teams to sign up for the Mistpedia Weekly for people to evaluate their play and determine a suitable Seed for ToL #2.
We certainly do, in fact I would like to say this is probably one of the better ways to ensure your team gets a fair seeding. We will not penalize your team if you do not however, there is just a larger chance of us misjudging your team based on leaderboard rating alone, which can be unreliable and sporadic in it’s placement of players.
(edited by BLUna.7928)
Is the seeding done by player mmr, or by somebody choosing manually?
We (Mistpedia) dont have access to MMR numbers, nor is there any API to grab it, so it will be done manually based on MP Weekly, ToL1, and by a very small margin leaderboard performance as well (considering LBs would need to be checked manually and there is no way to search them)
eh BLU i thought errr the leader board data can be searched via gw2score.com provided if the user id is known?
for example, my team’s data:
http://www.gw2score.com/PvP/player/Deimos-Tel-Arin7391
http://www.gw2score.com/PvP/player/Joannehappy8420
http://www.gw2score.com/PvP/player/SolitaryJr9654
http://www.gw2score.com/PvP/player/ysosrs1093
http://www.gw2score.com/PvP/player/Dapi5203we play very casually, at least for me.
my other team members played more games than myself thougherrr would it help if i email these links to you? O_O
I am aware of this website, but last I heard the website wasnt working properly and ranks were behind by a few weeks or so. If it is working I may be able to use it then.

Are the good teams going to be spread out again?
Essentially yes. Brackets will be seeded based on team skill as well as team’s first choice play date. If too many “good teams” are requesting the same date we may try to move them to other dates after getting their permission to try and keep it split. I would like to note as well that were going to try and be a little more “thorough” with checking in on teams before we place them in brackets this time to try and avoid any early meetups like we had last time.

Updated the QA with a few questions asked today
If you’re not actually in a game (timer isnt counting down, says “waiting for players” at the top of the screen) you wont be getting progression. You need to start the game first. Not sure if this is the issue but this was the only thing I could think of.
Fyi error is still there lol
fixed. Forgot to fix the dropdown box.
