off topic but….soo much hate on AH guard. I like my AH guard…and my boon ele. mediocre dps, but i dont even need to dodge anymore
I…actually did better on the overflow than my own server lol. We didn’t win, but we got him around 50-60% (before 2nd phase of megalaser firing) before running out of time. All the time’s I’ve been on my own server, we never make it past first phase.
The few reason I’ve seen people lose this event is because of either
1. People have horrible timing so they don’t jump the waves in time
2. People sit still in poison
3. Turrets aren’t shooting 2 often enough to get rid of stacks and aren’t throwing down buffs and condition removal
4. Afkers and people that don’t WP when they’re dead. We’re not gonna sit there and risk getting hit by fingers’ poison to res you when you can walk back. And no it’s not that expensive. 1-3 silver is like selling half of a soft wood plank.
Once you realize that the fingers drop poison and need to be killed, and the waves just need to be hopped over, it’s just another regular boss fight, where if you wanted to, you could just sit there spamming 1 (which I don’t understand, I have that on auto cast so i can focus on mobility).
Oh and also protecting the turrets and megalaser batteries which can be done with just 8-10 people. My small guild of 6 people and 3 or 4 others protected our turrets on the north side without a single casualty or turret being destroyed as opposed to south side that had a huge mob protecting.
If they fix the scaling on Teq, and drop his life a little bit to where zergs of around 50 people can have a possibility of beating him, then this will turn into an amazing fight. But currently, with such high health and low time to beat him, people with sucky equipment won’t be able to kill him. Like 80s that are still running random with Rare equipments and 1-4 exotics.

“If there’s a guarantee I’m going to finish the fight with 2-3 exotics from the chest, then I’ll truck on through, but if not, then I’d rather just go make some money.”
Which current fight or content gives you this as a reward?
Map completion for the higher level maps and dungeons always drop exotics for me. but that might be because my luck is now around 153% and with food it shoots up to 170%+
I was in overflow today, and we managed to beat him down to 60%. That’s better than what I’ve seen in my actual server, so it’s possible. And besides, you get a Dragon Chest every time you drop him by 25% for the Megalaser event so I say it’s worth a try. Besides, what else are you going to do in the mean time? Farm dungeons? Farm champions? Mindless menial tasks that will probably drive you away from playing GW2 for the next 6 months (happened to me when I hit lvl 80 and did all story mode dungeons.)? You might as well just give it a try. Because if you’re even playing GW2, then you probably have time to kill, and what better way to kill time than to kill that SOB Tequatl.
It’s only a 15 minute fight. So there’re no worries if you’ve got only an hour to play. If you fail, then move onto something else, if you succeed then yay!
I enjoyed the fight, but if Teq’s only at like 75% with 5 minutes left. I’m jumping ship and am either gonna go champ farm, run some dungeons, or just go to the other world bosses like SB/Fire Elemental/ Golem 2/ Maw. Too much risk, not enough reward. If there’s a guarantee I’m going to finish the fight with 2-3 exotics from the chest, then I’ll truck on through, but if not, then I’d rather just go make some money.
I say either increase the time limit to 20-25 minutes or give the Megalaser a life bar, because on E-bay, when there was only like 5 minutes left, and we only got him to about 76%, half our “zerg” just up and left us. There was no point in trying til it was out of time. Most people just thought it was better to just wait til next spawn window and go farm champs or kill other weaker world bosses like SB/Maw/Golem2/Fire Elemental, than to waste time pounding away when there was no possible way of dropping him with 5 minutes left.
Fun raid, but for the time limit, it doesn’t seem to fit in open world, especially in such a low level area where our stats get nerfed to fit the surroundings. Level 80 and level 66 have a really big difference in damage.
I’ve been playing since beta, and the most gold I’ve ever held in one moment was 40g lol IF I were to count every piece I’ve made then it’d probably only hit about 80g, so the people that are in like the 1000g+ range, I’ve no clue how they do it lol
Personally, rather than dual classes, I’d rather see new weapon types like Katars, Tonfas, Fists, etc, and have EVERY class be able to use ALL weapons. Would be lots of fun to pretend I’m the Avatar, master of all 4 Elements with fist weapons. Sounds very satisfying.
I thought like this at first too until I saw what the reward was for completing the thing. I’d rather farm champs than do the living story only to get a tonic, etc. The quest rewards are just too lack luster. Now if they were guaranteed to drop ascended mats or exotics or larger amounts of gold as opposed to Champs who only drops chests that are on the off chance hopefully going to drop an exotic, t7 mat, then I probably would have tried to finish the quest, but as it stands, not even worth the effort. Jumping puzzles are almost equally rewarding some times.
I like my 30 fire, 10 Air, 30 water. I may have really low survivability but its always fun to see gigantic crits on bunnies haha.

Anything Blue, I sell to Vendors unless it’s light armor and medium armor which I can salvage for Mats, Heavy armor i just vendor since you can farm ores. For green and yellow equipment, I do [Posted Price(the price that most people already sell it at) – 5% Posting Fee] – 10% Sales tax. If that is less than the amount an NPC Vendor offers me, then I don’t post it. Otherwise I hang onto it and use it in Mystic Forge, or if I see that it is a decent equip, I just hold onto it until the people selling it at a loss get bought out and start posting it at a decent price.
Personally I think the economy is just kinda sucky right now. I say after a few months it’ll be stable and we’ll start seeing higher selling prices, which would essentially put more money into the economy. As opposed to right now where you have some people selling an item at a deflated price hurting the economy, and some people selling an item at a high price; also hurting the economy. We haven’t really found an equilibrium point as of yet (from what I’ve seen anyway).
