A server finally figured out our secret. You dont stay in t1 by playing for second place.
BG shoud be fighting for second place. Any third place team that is new to a bracket that isn’t clawing and fighting for any success they can get would be foolish. If I played for BG I’d be squeezing the crap out of JQ at all hours because the best way to change the horizon of the T1 landscape is to first take JQ out of the picture. I have no horse in this race, but I do see things shaking up soon.
You can take 2nd place by squeezing PPT out of the leader too, while tightening the score at the same time thus leeching off their rating if you don’t manage 2nd. Win win. Just because a server is in 2nd place doesn’t always make them a softer target.
Acording with some Jahn or whatever he was called, that kept posting how BG wasn’t going to go T1 because of the way we played in T2, Both #2 and #3 should attack the leader if they want to move up… And since the score is based on the gap between your server and the top server, that does really make sense… Narrowing that gap would make SoS lose points, JQ moving to #1 and BG to #2 (that’s if both servers leech enough rating from SoS). Attacking JQ would only give rating to SoS for widening the gap between #1 and #2…
I think it was somenthing like that… I don’t really bother understanding how that flawed system work.

I know one server who is insecure in t1 cough lost only because of a holiday excuse cough post a mocking troll wvw video because a new t1 guild from another server challenged our ego with a wvw video cough need to send spies to the other servers VOIP cough
This is what happens when you get two servers with big egos together. SoS has a big ego, rightfully so I suppose since they’ve been NA #1 for weeks now, but BG also seems to have a big ego coming back to tier 1. Yes, JQ has a ego too, but I dunno, just doesn’t seem to be as big as the other two, and I’m not saying that just because I’m on the server. The banter in this thread seems to be mostly between SoS and BG.
Any server in tier 1 is going to have some sort of ego.
You don’t get to tier 1 by being insecure or hesitant.

I know it’s coming from both SoS and JQ but Ive noticed a huge attitude change from BG from the 1st time you entered t1 and this time. This time around it’s more focus, more not taking things for granted, and less kitten talk for the most part. Neither of us can compete with SoS’s coverage, guild sizes, or organization though I do feel were both giving it all we can. That’s all that can be expected.
It’s refreshing to fight smaller groups from BG as well. BG has earned to be in T1. I know JQ’s consensus respects the BG proper especially the older Shadowbane guilds on BG.
I think a lot of the perceived ego that BG has is based off of the hostility and kittentalk that is directed towards us. None of us are really here to thump our chests. The HB video was exciting and motivational. When posters come out and tell BG that they are basically trash, what sort of a reaction do you honestly expect? “Oh, ya, you are totally right, we’re bad and we’re going to go back to Tier 2 now.” I think not. Posters are going to tell you to go kitten yourself when you tell them they are bad. Whether Blackgate can win or not is of no consequence. We earned our spot here making us better than every other server in the other 7 brackets. I’d say that’s something. Tier 1 is a challenge. If it was anything else, I’d be disappointed.

HB aint backing down. With the exception of 3 hours during the early sunday hours, we´ve been out there in the field 24/7 during the weekend, and you will see us again tonight. I have said it before, and I will say it again. We are loving the fights we are getting. Please keep em comming.
Regarding Indos comment it is true that Blackgates strength and weakness is its coverage.
We got very few guilds that can field 20+, but alot of small guilds throughout the timezones. We as a server has taken steps towards making these more coordinated, and we have improved, partly thanks to SoR who forced us to improve. Tier 1 is a whole new ballgame, and we will have to adapt once again.

it is worth pointing out if you are pretending that BG need do this or that, or gloating about a win. and no, it wasn’t an “everyone got attacked” situation. and you mustn’t have played up to this point FriendlyFire, to make these statements. JQ was in third after SOS took the lead, but continued to attack red now in second. Your own post should address JQ itself, not BG.
We attack both servers equally. Most on JQ have always vied the game as a 2vs1. One of several reasons we have lasted so long in t1. The OP was just making an observation on how the last place server should be attacking the first place server in points if they want to maintain their tier status.

Right the entire SoS server stop playing last week since it was only New Years for the SoS playerbase let alone the weeks SoS won during Christmas and Thanksgiving, For no one playing scoring 180.000 week total points and coming ahead of SBI sure was an accomplishment.

MERCS the Ruin JR of SoS. a 500+ member guild who chest thumps with screen shots of 5am 600+ SoS ppt scores when they are winning and making excuses when they lose. Their leadership cant even say good game in defeat or victory. They take pot shots all the time at respectable guilds like FOO and DC on JQ. It’s very amateurishness.

We over at JQ hold deep respect for TSYM. We remember you fighting the good fight in your small groups back on Dragonbrand. Even out numbered TYSM shined due to your skill. Months down the road if you guys slim down you are more than welcome and would fit in well on JQ.
Good game this week. SoS has enormousness guild size presence on the field and when the SoS wheels are grinding not much can slow them down. Let no one doubt SoS deserves the crown of t1 champion.

TSYM here, first off congratulating JQ again for their win last week. To all those who want to post an asterisk next to the win, the enemy saw an opportunity, capitalized on that opportunity, and kept stomping on our necks until we didn’t get back up. We assure you, if we saw similar from your server, you would see the same from us, so grats on being brilliant tacticians! Anyone can see opportunities, the great ones seize them!
Funny someone mentioned the stomping JQ gave to Dragonbrand. That match is what made TSYM what we are today, and we remember it like it was yesterday. To say we were obliterated would be a massive understatement, I do believe we lost by like 600k points. We went in there every day trying new stuff out, and you guys were there every time to send us packing, and back to the drawing board. By the end of the matchup we were wiping 4x our number pretty regularly, but was a hard lesson…
Next week will be the loss of a well known server, and the addition of a brand new server. On behalf of all us at T1, best of luck SBI on your next shuffle, and give them hell.

If you are an orginal guild or player that left JQ due to WvW ques they are long gone. If the menace / walker / EC drama drove you away those days are long gone. The server you left still has a warm community TS and forum.
It’s a server where small guild groups roam across the maps along side commanders leading not only their guild mates but all pug players willing. We have older players that put their kids to bed then hit the front lines, college kids pulling long shifts even when we have the out manned buff and were scrapping at keeping 75 ptt, and WvW focused international guilds from all time zones that not only fight with respect but courage regardless of score or opponent.
Sure there are times when we are just a mess trying our best to defend that last tower on our boarder lands or running around like chickens with our heads cut off, or the entire JQ WvW force is taken arms pounding that one garrison wave after wave as our WvW holdings burn across all four WvW maps. In victory or defeat you know we are still out there trying regardless of point score or if another 40+ zerg just rolled over us.
Come back home…we have left the door open. Next week were bunkering down vs SoS/BG. It’s going to test the very foundation of our server and the greatest
challenge the free folk of JQ have faced in quite some time. Once a JQer always a JQer

Cliff Notes: We want out buddies from Blackgate in T1 so we can double team JQ.
Sorry SBI wont role over for you and die off to t2 so you can hold hands with Blackgate. SteelBluff is a worthy adversary. Even if WM took their ball and ran off deserting their server and power pvp guilds such as LoD left for other games SBI deserves every right to remain in t1 till the raking system drops them. Blackgate had their chance to remain in t1.
SBI has almost no presence in WvW atm. They should have dropped from tier one weeks ago. Right now we have an unhealthy competition where JQ is able to fight off SoS without having to worry about SBI because SBI is simply not competitive any more. It would be a shame if SBI didn’t drop to tier 2 next week, the competition would be better in tier 1 as a result, every week they linger up there is another week the competition becomes stagnant and stale. We are seeing SoS full cap SBI maps with no meaningful resistance. At the moment SBI is mostly just a source of points for whoever wants it (or is willing to pull off pressure from the actual competition to take it), whereas in previous weeks the competition was a three way battle and anyone in the lead had to earn it and they had to fight for every map.
I’ve enjoyed playing against SBI for several weeks and there were (and still are) some very competitive guilds on the server, but they just don’t have the coverage to be a tier one guild any more. The competition suffers when one of the three servers has been defanged.
SoS tried to make a push to get SBI out of tier one early this week, relieving pressure on JQ, it backfired and it looks as though SBI will remain tier one for another week and JQ will take the first place win (mostly unrelated to trying to push SBI out). I truly believe the swap between third place of the higher tier and first place of the lower tier needs to happen. Ratings are too forgiving of ways to build up your rating to a level you can’t sustain: holiday gains, end of the week capping, PvDoor at night. This helps you to retain a position you can no longer hold due to decreased interest, server transfers or guilds disbanding. The result is lopsided matches like this weeks, where one server is still competing in tier one despite not having the presence or competitive coverage to give a challenging or threatening WvW experience.
Look at how JQ has been revitalised by the prospect of winning and moving into first place once again? It has brought out the militia and the guild transfers to make them more competitive than they have been in a while (it’s hard to compare this week to previous ones, it’s still holidays and WvW participation has been down across all servers). A new server in tier one would further revitalise the competition and give people something to compete for. Currently the rating system is just a slow agonising death that everyone has to sit through.

No One will ever compete with HoD as it stands, it is impossible, they have too many, basically all the ‘over night’ players/guilds. But really yheyre only effecting the top echelon of the PvP pyramid. The WvW problems run much deeper.
SBI is a good server, maybe the most organized. And if we were matched with any other servers we would blow them out too just like HoD does everyone, because it is about numbers.
I now dub you StormTear Eyesle. SBI has talent and some great WvW guilds but from my perspective as an opponent I note the following .
1. Using HoD’s 24/7 presence as an excuse for not competing – So you got excited having a point lead going into the week only to tear up when the HoD juggernaut went full force on Tuesday. So rather than man up the entire server cried foul. I would be embarrassed if I played on SBI.
2. Beating your chest as the “2nd” best server- StormTears forgets how many times JQ has kittened slapped your kitten going back to BWE. All the chest thumping and crotch rubbing for being “second” place. Grats on that second place. It is first place loser. 3. Using WM/Evil as a crutch-StormTear Eyesle is carried by WM/Evil. Dont be surprised when they drop your kitten for another server more appreciative.
SBI has great potential and I personally hope you continue to be a challenge for months to come but in my opinion StormTear Eyesle needed to be humbled.

WvWvW is designed for 2 vs 1 so why people complain about it baffles me.

Should be another solid week of good fighting assuming it rematches as we expect. All three servers deserve to be top tier.
HoD has great organization and individual skilled guilds followed by a 24/7 presence. They have earned the top spot and are the measuring stick. They are the Chuck Norris of NW WvWvW.
SBI has focused hard core pvp guilds who bring it usually non stop. They have improved after every match and have done everything to hold on to and earn the number two seed. The Jason Bourne’s of NA WvW. JQ’s main rival dating back to the BWE’s.
JQ is the old man Clint Eastwood in Gran Turino of NA WvW and underdog to the bone but were going to be there swinging till the whistle blows.

Transfers need to be week long, to only the bottom populated tiers , and/or no longer free. The are adding to an already imbalanced WvWvW environment. IT’s been well over a month now with free unchecked transfers.
Even though we have 24 hour locked free transfers we have the following :
1. Guild and players flocking to the highest scoring or highest ranked server to coattail the server’s WvW victory success. Increasing ques for said server and watering down the WvW experience for all.
2. Guilds and players are transferring to servers in their WvW match up to steal supply from keeps and towers, spy, give false information, block up queues on the WvW map.
3. Guilds and players are transferring off lesser populated or less WvWvW successful servers to higher populated more successful WvW servers diluting the already disparity between the very bottom populated and the heavy populated servers.
Please were begging here Anet. Please address these issues asap.

The problem with SBI in my opinion, and they are a good WvW server make no doubt about it with good guilds and players, are they are too content being number two whereas ET and JQ aim for number 1.

Here is a pro tip winners chest thump about being number 1 not number 2. Remember that when SBI is the fourth ranked server in a week. Unless of course your overlords HoD decide to keep you in 2nd as a buffer from the real competition.

The real fight will be in two weeks HOD/ET/JQ. That 24 hour match up was the smallest in score difference and by far the most epic fighting match up to date with all three servers fighting equally each other.
