Definitely want to see more race-themed armour, specifically for my Sylvari <3 Cultural and Twilight Arbor being my only options makes me sad.

heh.. ask me as medium charr player…i got either rags and ropes that basically a drover wears (what is ironically also the name of the set), bones and dirty cloth, or a mix of both…aka rags and ropes with bones and dirty cloth….and burning armor if you wanna stretch CoF armor as cultural. I totally support more race theme armor, no matter what race

The new trend is xenophobic clothes :P Rashy&Basalt trend.

Nah not really man lol. Just some people play a race for their style and designs..ya know for example norns with the clearly viking inspired thing going on…fur armor, lots of trophies worked into the designs like deer antler helmets and animal skulls while the next guy likes the sylvari and their plant armors and flowers and whatever. I just happen to like the more “rough” and spiky aswell mechanical charr designs..and who says it needs to be race restricted? If its made like dungeon armor everybody can wear\enjoy it.

if there WOULD be a new tier the only way you could make that work is calling it legendary, giving it the same ability like legendary weapons (means changing stats on the fly) and keeping the stats themselfes at ascended. Thats atleast my opinion on it

They could have an exotic tier and an ascended tier, both with selectable stats. I think that would be an interesting way to have new tiers without a direct power raise.

Exotic too? But exotic is so easy to get…and i bet a lot cheaper to just buy the sets you need for your builds rather then to craft the “multi exotics”. Imo ascended would be sufficient…and ascended is more of a grind to make, so to take the bitter pill once and make “legendary\ascended” set settles your needs forever.

One thing, it wouldn’t be a bitter pill once, I have 8 chars, some of which are wearing cultural armor. It would be a minimum of 3 times, one for each profession, and then there would be a problem with switching armors between chars and the look I want then to have and the cultural armor not being switchable between races.

For another thing, not everyone is going for ascended armor (I’m not). A merged exotic set would allow those people to have and wear one set that also has fully selectable stats. People already are keeping multiple sets in their inventory to switch between, depending on what they are doing, I have 3 chars that carry an extra set of armor in inventory for that reason. Merging them would free up inventory space.

Just as a question, how much would it cost in gold and time to make a full set of merged ascended armors with all the available stats compared to a merged exotic set?

A person with exotics can have as much need and want for selectable stats as someone with ascended.

All with the same runes? TBH that’s why I would never really care about selectable stats. Heck I have 2 characters who I keep 2 identical gear sets just for 2 different rune sets (scholar and strength)

why not make a rune and sigil set like this too? Wouldnt be a stupid thing to have arround at all. Slap the runes on, choose the stats. Wanna change em? Remove a piece and put it on again and choose the stats again and all “shifting runes” on your armor take on the stats of the one you picked.

Things you found confusing as a noob

For me it was salvaging and the trading post, at first i sold everything i got to a vendor rather then breaking low level stuff i dont need into mats rather then using the salvage kits. Also certain things like turrets…i never played an mmo before (far enough, if i actually did play an mmo that had something like this) where i could operate a turret, mortar or stuff like this. Also kits where a new thing to me…what was extremely “weird” the first 10 minutes after i unlocked my flamethrower (started out as engineer). I thought id get a…dunno a skill like the ele does with dagger 2 on fire attument… basically just a flame jet that goes on cooldown like a normal skill in an mmo would do. Nope.. got a whole darn flamethrower and i was amazed AND weirded out at the same time cause i thought id never get my rifle back. Heh.. good times… but other then that i quickly got the idea of how the game works. Well.. dodging maybe, but that was more an issue with not beeing familiar with the timing rather then the mechanic itself.

I admit I would love to see the Molten Alliance Dungeon come back. That was fun. Although as for a lot of people complaining about wanting old LS Season 1 stuff back in instanced form. As I recall they stated when they kicked off Season 2 that at some point they did/do intend to bring the LS Season 1 as something you can purchase from the Gem Shop, its just that as it wasn’t designed with the same system kitten they apparently need to rework some things. That said it would be nice to see at least the non-holiday oriented Event Dungeons to come back.

I’d also personally like to see the old racial Town Clothes be Outfits rather than a Tonic. It just seemed lazy and kinda stupid to me. I mean the Cook Outfit changes based on Race, so why couldn’t they do this?

I’m ok with the Personal Story access bit, that’s not so bad. Wait I dislike is how they re-organized things. The cleansing of Orr coming at Lv 70 and the stuff which we do get at Lv 80 (Zhaitan aside) is out of order, doesn’t make as much sense, and to me it takes away from the dramatics of the whole thing. Not to mention that now there are NPC’s present at the Lv 70 PS that you don’t actually even MEET until what is now Lv 80.

PaxTheGreatOne stole my list…

I really miss the old leveling and old traits systems, and would LOVE the marionette boss back as a world event (just have a team rebuild her from the scrap heap in Lornar’s Pass).

skritt messing with the remains and making the completely beat up and jury-rigged remains go haywire while it attracts the steam creatures to charge its death ray once again. That actually would make a funny world boss to be honest.

When in doubt, Skritt.

Yup.. and the marionette would so look messed up and kept together by stupid stuff like wood planks, junk and ropes. Alone that sight would make it worth it. Just imagine the thing twitching and thrashing all over the place..spinning its head and collapsing for a moment before raising up again like a zombie. Id love to see this mess XD.

What Legendaries Are You Hoping For?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

I think there need to be two important changes:

1) Serious legendaries.
I don’t think legendaries should look jokey (ref: unicorn bow, disco stick etc.). They need to feel epic, serious achievements. If people want jokey weapons then these should be other skins achieved through different routes. I want a weapon that really indicates the epicness of my character, not a silly gimmick. I think a lot of people feel like this. So i hope that the new legendaries, especially the new versions of currently jokey ones, take a more serious tone.

2) More interesting lore
The lore behind The Flameseeker Prophecies is so interesting. When you make it and wield it you really feel like you a wielding a LEGENDARY weapon, something that helped shape Tyria. You don’t get that feeling with a lot of the others, especially the gimmicks. I think new legendaries should have a really strong basis in GW lore. It would be especially nice if they referenced back to GW1

then most legendaries would be only based arround what the humans did…and thats sorta lame. Dont get me wrong.. lore and stuff is always good but why only lore?

Look at the predator and incinerator…clearly charr tech weapons that where made to kick some serios kitten in battle… why not spread that out a bit more to asura too? Magitech legendaries basically with lots of pew pew and zappy thingies or sylvari styled ones that got that grown look to them and a magical feel like the dreamthistle weapons(and no stupid unicorns and rainbows for once please…) or norn styled ones based on their spirits and nature stuff…i belive somebody even datamined a staff with a crow sitting on it and to top, that direction would be kitten, and also lore legendaries cause cant even think for a second to leave the humans out. That way you got basically all styles of gw2 weapons covered

-Mechanical
-Magitech
-Magical\Lore based
-Organic
-“Rustical” (if i may call the norn style this way for the moment)
-Normal- (but who wants a normal weapon as legendary, thats sorta against the idea)

People can first off easier match them to the style they go with their char (if they go a style direction of course) and they feel much more personal…rather then the only choice. (im looking at you quip…) But thats just my opinion on it.

By ‘lore’ I don’t necessarily mean just human lore. There is a tonne of lore in gw1, a lot of it is not human. I mean we could have a legendary bow that stems from a legendary Tengu warrior or something. Any race’s law.
But I don’t think they could do a legendary for each race because that is 5 new styles per weapon class which is a LOT of work and quite frankly 6 different legendaries might be a bit much.

oh that without a doubt man. What i meant was more covering all areas…if not now then slowly over time, ya know.. filling in the gaps and creating slowly and steady entire sets to reflect the different styles. Maybe in HoT more legendaries geared towards the specialisations for starters. A mechanical hammer, a “rustical” or “organic” staff, a magical shield and so on so that we eventually end up with a full set into each style…and who knows what comes after HoT. Maybe bigger feature packs with more legendaries cause the mastery system allows em to expand more effective they said. Well for HoT i personally will settle with more “serios” legendaries that if possible take the specialisations in account and reflect it in their designs.

a pro tip OP…in your bank is a tab for skins where you can display all the armor skins in game in case you are not aware, you also can display all in game weapons there, you dont need to own a single one to check how they look together. You can so plan looks ahead anytime you want. I unfortunally got nothing to show off though.. but i hope that bit of info helps. Oh yea.. and also welcome to the game and i hope you will have a great time

Oh what the entire collection of skins available? NICE!

Does it give me a name so i can look it up each skin to figure out where its at?

I’d also like to see some player creations soo

lol each skin got a name so you can easily use the wiki to see exactly where to get it.

Actually I think many of the human males look young as well. Most look in their lower 20’s.

Yep. I struggle to make one that doesn’t look like he would be a supporting act for Bieber.

thats basically why i dont play humans. I (personally) dont want to play a char that looks like he only just recently lost his braces and got permission of his parents to go out and kill dragons…but only till 10 cause tomorrow is school…and norn are too…norn for me (cant find my zen with that race…i really dunno why, by definition and style i should love em cause i usually love viking and nordic stuff). Heck my army of female charrs look unintentionally more manly then 90% of human males (what i find actually funny and i didnt even notice that i made a chick with my first and still main char). Though… i wont lie, id gladly make a human male…if there would be options to make a rugged, battle field shaped and “angry” or atleast experienced looking male. Something like this in the attachment would do it already for me. But back to the theme… not want to de-rail the topic too much

I was just looking at my humans (3 alts out of 55; 2 male, 1 female) and I think I did a fairly good job on them but I noticed I picked the same base face for the males. They still look different enough but its going to bother me a little now. Norn females are much easier but they can still be made to look a little cutesie, unfortunately.

hehe hence why i made myself only charrs… its close to impossible to make a charr look cute…cept you “try too hard” if you know what i mean XD

Show the class some respect…cause afterall isnt it one of the two classes you couldnt ship the game without? (guardian is the other one in case you wanna know) For two years i watched my backpieces get replaced and glitching together with a hobosack while the ele besides me polished his elementary bracers and attument icon. For two years i stood permanently in battle stance while the ele besides me simply put his staff on his back. I dont want to have anything of that anymore. I want my favourite class to look as good as other classes. The only thing that may replace my backpiece is the glider…and nothing else.

Basaltface.2786

The grand majority Gw2 community are afraid of PvP.

Thats not the case…people are more allergic to toxicity, basically also my reason why i dont pvp aswell (besides some other reasons i got with it but toxicity is my main reason, i however do wvw and i am capable of killing other player chars). You wont belive how much something like this can rek your mood and how far this can spread out the players… that dont want to have anything to do with eachother cause they dont want to be kittened at by some… (insert your own insult here). Rather then to work together people gonna form secluded groups to avoid as many people as possible or completely avoid hubs to not have the “why you dont take my duel request? You scared? What are you a noob?” all the time. We got clear game types where you can go to get the experience you want and there are already TWO of 3 game modes that are meant for killing other players. Want duelling? Add a pvp mode for it or heck make an arena in the pvp hub and have it over with.

Character Creation Options You Want

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

-personalities in “battle talk” to say different things rather then always the same
(like for example rather then “im faster then a centaur” something like “CHARGE!”)

-different stances\walking\running animations\idle animations
(like a proud stance, a “savage” stance, a shy stance, a laid back stance and so on)

-“emotions” like happyness, anger, confusion etc to choose and display on the char
face cause most of the time our chars are rather…apathetic looking

-“battle damage” like scars, blind eyes, broken horns, chipped teeth etc

- earrings\piercings\tail accessories\necklaces\eyelashes\beauty marks

- hairdo accessory colouring like armor pieces

- much more hairdos and racial features (tattoos, horns, ears, glowy stuff etc..)

- more skin tones\fur patterns\skin markings(asura)

- “sliders” for certain body features (like thighs, upper arms, lower legs, belly area etc)

- length slider for hairdos

- 2 tone eyes (like left one green and right one blue or whatever)

- crooked ears\horns

- “self fix” for too big\too small backpieces, floating shoulders etc with a simple x-y-z
slider (that would fix a lot of troubles for a lot more people then you think)

-old people faces

-new particle colours\styles for class specific attacks and\or pet and minion styles

-not sure if that falls into the theme but more emotes\dances

op… whats kitten getting a legendary now? All you need is gold and some free time to get the gifts together…and thats it. They are as legendary as the energy drink can bout 1 foot to my left. Everybody who can affort it could have it. Only difference between my energy drink here and the legendary is that the can costs bout 50 cents and the legendary costs arround 400 bucks. Are you impressed with my energy drink? No? Well neither am i with legendaries. Only shows people can either grind their soul away for gold to affort the mats to make the gifts and a precursor, got lucky and got a precursor dropped or bought the legendary or its parts with gem cards or credit card. Dont get me wrong.. i do bow my head if somebody actually grinds for it…but still…a legendary doesnt mean that its wielder also is legendary. The thing for fractals daily imo is the time it consumes.
I’m not inexperienced, I did at least 10 times every fractal possible, but usually a full run takes around 1 hour and most of the days I can’t spend all that time in 1 activity.

Now the daily where you just need 1 fractal is another thing, that is my only source of pristine fractal relics

wouldnt make sence to get the relics any other way anyways. Afterall they are kinda.. sorta dungeon tokens.

i personally really dont get why people are so afraid of the fractals. They arent as hard as people make em out and if you just do it for the daily then a lvl1 fractal does the trick already. Heck everytime there actually is a fractal in the daily people will roll the shortest (the swamp) on lvl1 what basically consists of bringing 3 glowy balls to a door in time to open it and one of two rather simple boss battles that get picked randomly…one is an oakheart style boss that can hit hard but is usually easy as pie if you dodge its ranged attacks and keep away from its frontside and the other one is a (certainly) smelly norn ranger that uses some stealth tactics and wolf minions called the mossman…what is on lvl1 about the same threat like an open world champion you randomly run into. Seriosly guys its REALLY easy. Just look into the fractal lfg for lvl 1-9 for a group with something along the lines of “daily-swamp rolled” and join. Its over before you even know it…and who knows..maybe you taste blood and want more

In GW1 all classes could use any weapon

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Basaltface.2786

But how can it be immersion breaking when lore wise it fits. Warriors in GW1 lore (200 years ago) also prayed to the same gods that offered magic to other classes, so I don’t see how its a far reach for warriors 200 years later to be able to wield magical weapons. Show me lore wise why they can’t.

Lore-wise… that can be argued several ways. I personally would LOVE for my Elementalist to be able to simply HOLD a Torch with no skills, simply so she has a light source for dark areas. (You would think an Elementalist would have the most weapons/ways to shed light; instead they have the least. But that’s another topic).

The main, plain reason every character can’t use every weapon is that is would be problematical for them to implement. Think of it: every weapon in the game would have to have it’s own set of skills for 8 (16??) different professions. Then ANet has to balance those skills.

I would love to see more choices, but it would be a ton of work and a lifetime of balancing.

and exactly thats why i always “whine” when another outfit comes out. SELL A SODDING SKIN PACK OF IT TOO. So that people who dont like the whole look can hide parts\use parts on other looks or pimp out the outfit with parts they enjoy. But whatever…

Engineer for me. This class was made for me. I love “fantasy engineering” and if its slightly goofy its even better. I love to have the jack of all trades feel and that i can say “i can do almost everything” if people ask…cause its true. I can solo stuff without any issues or work in a group and fill in many roles. Need might? I got ya. Heals? Sure thing. Vun? Bet your kitten i got it. Other conditions? Yup. CC? Sure. Kiting massive mobs arround and keeping the dps pressure on them big time? Yeap.. my eternal deep pockets filled with bombs say we can do that. Need a “makeshift” tank? No problem. No problem… yea that basically sums it up for me…cept its condition overload time and even then i usually can pull through. Also its for me just the most fun to play. Only real gripes i got is that there arent enough “mechanical” armor skins, the nasty looking kit backpacks, the lack of a proper melee weapon and a ranged, power based kit that uses a lock on target system like a rifle or something does cause grenades give me actually carpal tunnel syndrome. Well.. the melee weapon issue gets fixed in the x-pac…so i already look forward to it

Basaltface.2786

well… from that stream i got some infos…

-the rev is gonna have an OH dagger (shown for a split second) and im glad for that…
finally a use for my massive knive collection that i got for no reason (cause i dont play any class that uses daggers enough to appreciate em) also it might be time to make a legendary i actually like and never could use it.. the incinerator-

-the warrior used a flamethrower that was STOWED on the back like a rifle
and had no darn hobosack (lets hope thats the norm for engi kits soon)

-seems the map they showed its gonna be a sort of thing like you see in a zombie game
basically preparing for the night and hoping you survive it…just that we get mordi´s
radish field trying to claw your face off rather then zombies…yup gonna be fun if its like i hope it is

- dont quote me on that one.. but that rifle in the event seems to be a new weapon
skin…i could be horrible wrong though

-adventures can be restarted if you done goofd and get a leaderboard thingy

-not all sylvari of the pact turned into kittennozzles

-mordi´s armies of radishes seems to be rather creative and gross

-war gets an f2 skill…whatever that might mean for the class mechanic
(i hope it makes it somewhat more enjoyable to play, cause right now its not for me)

- outposts gonna be “hubs” for more events and adapt to whats going on

- the map seems to be rather vertical and many people will fall off (like me with my
elixir gun acid bomb) cept they also take the terrain into account at fighting
(i personally like that)

-i didnt see enough for my personal taste…but i guess i get my fair share soon enough

so far so good…alone to see a flamethrower holstered on the back of a char sparked the hope in me to finally see my beloved main without a glitching galore on the back. The rev certainly looks interresting so far too…i really do hope its the heavy version of an engi\ele and requires skill to play and comes with the same amount of adaptation powers like ele and engi. For me war and guard just dont interrest me enough to play em…and the rev gets my hopes up that this might be the (heavy) class i waited for.

Spire of the Sunless vs The Crossing?

imo clearly the crossing. Got a dongly lantern and an unique shape.. rather then a retextured ascended staff skin with some black particle effects. Also its way easier to get…if you suffer the wrath of the rng gods like i do (trying since the revamp of teq to get a darn box for the rifle)

Actually i really like them and the idea behind it. Also they arent plants for once. I might get more then 1 this time cause i do got some ideas how to work them into some of my chars looks. Especially the rifle and daggers smile at me.

Hobo Sacks: A Terrible Fashion Statement

in Engineer

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

No, the best solution is to just create a unique weapon for each kit and then you’ll be like every other class. There is no reason to have anything beyond the weapon in your hand to signify what weapon you’re using. To say otherwise is just to make excuses for having the hobosack.

Anyway, it’s fairly clear the devs just don’t care. If they did it would be fixed by now. They’ve had the time for it and they just refuse to do it.

Attument like icons that re-use the kit icon and a checkbox to hide the kit backpack would be less of a hassle and solve everything wrong with kits in 1 swoop. Wanna keep the backpack? You can. Dont wanna keep it? You can. The “attument icon” does its job either way. Also to a way to “sheath” the kit weapon would be neat to not always stand in battle stance…is like an ele cant put his weapons away. Well.. in the last poi where they showed that warrior burning down roots in that adventure he used a flamer that actually was stored on his back like a rifle before he used it, it also had no hobosack…so its obvios they CAN do it…lets just hope they actually WILL

I bet people who say “if i cannot mix and match, i won’t buy it no matter how good it looks” are those i see with terribly mismatched creations that make them unique at least.

so? How their mixmatched chars look is your business how or did i miss something in the patch noties? What are you? The fashion police?

Posters 1: All of the armor sets are in the gem store, there’s none in the game. We don’t like that!
ANet: OK, we’ll put armor sets in the game (Carapace, Luminescent).
Posters 2: What? Another outfit! Where’s the full armor sets in the store?

Posters 3: All of the armor sets are full sets. Why can’t we buy armor pieces piecemeal!?!!?
ANet: OK, we’ll put piecemeal armor pieces in the store.
Posters 4: What? Why are armor pieces piecemeal?

While I’m sure that not everyone in the even groups were also in the odd groups, they should at least be made aware that ANet is doing this because others asked them to.

yea to have armor sets in game and the gem store would be too mindblowing now would it…as for piecemeal.. of course people complain. The prices are massive if compared to a full skin pack and quite some people do like to have full sets. Know how to make everybody happy? Sell both.. skin and costume versions, tweak the skin versions so that they work as skins if possible…and if not cut the outfit to as many pieces as possible (head, gloves, shoulders, boots and top\bottom combined). We got skins in game that overwrite more then 1 equipment slot with the visuals…like the light whisper helmet, it comes with shoulders…or the dry bone helmet, it also comes with shoulders. The CoF light armor top actually comes with the bottoms combined as 1 piece. See what i mean? Outfits easily could be sold as 2 versions, the regular one and the skin pack that cuts it up as far as possible. People can so add their own touch to it…or use elements of the outfit for their own personal look. For example how many people want that noble count outfit to combine with a top hat…or reading glasses or whatever? Many… there even where topics about that. How many people would love the samurai hat from the hexed outfit to go with a different set of clothes that are more samurai themed rather then witch like? Or how about bloody prince facepaint and “shoulder spikes”? Wouldnt that look amazing on a necro with more bones and skulls related armor details or “joker” style mesmer or something? How many people would like the combine the laurel wreath thingy with that…uhhh forgot the name of that plate outfit or combine said plate outfit with more subtle shoulders and different helmet? Or how about the mad king outfit with the phantom hood combination? Know how many people would love the dragon shoulders of the new outfit on their dragon themed armor? Or the executer outfit with glowing eyes or whatever. Or the “dervish robes” with blindfold helmet skin. It would look awesome and it would make MORE money for basically just splitting up whats possible and leaving the rest 1 piece. So much more people would buy it.

So atleast all races\genders are equally treated for once? Actual effort for charr? Either aliens abducted their armor department and replaced them with robots…or somebody snapped and went “hey…i actually should give a kitten for once about all races and genders, might make people who play charr happy…lets see how happy charr players look like”. I MIGHT actually just buy it cause some kitten was given even if i really dont like the asia theme and the fact that i detest outfits. I am genuinely impressed…as much as i hate to admit it. Now do the same for armor skins and it might just blow my mind…

One outfit that fits all of your characters is a lot more convenient than weight-class restricted armor skins. Don’t like it? Don’t buy it.

And besides, if they released new armor skins, people would complain about “urgh trenchcoats” and “urgh skirts” instead. Some people are just never happy.

yea… but maybe “yay i can use these boots” or “these shoulders go nice with my armor”…just sayin. Id alone buy a lot of costumes if i could use pieces like shoulders, gloves (if the design allows it) or helmet to overwrite the ones i got and NOT my entire armor. Know how much id love to use the mad prince facepaint on one of my chars or the shoulders from the witch outfit or stuff But whatever…we got a different view of “convinient”…

well… another thing ill skip in the gem store. I refuse to buy stuff i cant mix and match…no matter how good it looks.

No personal touch= dont care

Only 4 colour slots= dont care

Cant even have the headgear as a standalone skin\mixable with my armor= dont care

I play a game with a wardrobe for skins and the freedom to mix em as i kittening please (within the weight class obviosly) and i will do so…and nothing else. I rest my case and keep my gems in my wallet (or better said the unused gem cards i got here on my table for the miracle of getting gem store armor skins that “speak to me”). Whoever likes these darn things all hail to you….i however start to question why we even got such an extensive skin collection in the bank to display and a fantastic way to replace skins when we barely get new material to work with…or the 3 weight classes or class “theme” in general. Well… back to doing stuffs…

Call us again at GW:HoT release and you can get the heavy armor wearing Revenant for the low price of 59.99$ But wait that’s not all! We will throw in a cool blindfold for your revenant for free! "
