Asuran Female Outfits (also Charr)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Basaltface.2786

As a charr or asura player you are 2nd class citizen in tyria… we can be happy we even get anything remotely good\acceptable (compared to human, norn and sylvari) looking or that we dont just blink out of existance while paying the same gem price like the 3 mentioned races. Be happy that you even can buy the stuff and use it on your asura OP…cause it aint gonna get better then this. Male only and if the devs got a good day only with moderate texture blurryness and moderate stretching or clipping. Want a female look? Make a norn, human or sylvari and get used to be 2nd class… cause the devs aint give a kitten. Well.. sometimes you MIGHT be lucky…but dont get your hopes up

you call that blurry? Try charr armor for a change…then you gonna start to appreciate the dedication and love a-net puts into female human armors…

how do you feel about passive swiftness?

passive speed on engineer? Trait called power shoes… i use it. Also speedy kits trait that gives you swiftness if you change your kits. Speed is the least of the problems an engineer can run into… HA! Get it? Run?

-more armor skins with gusto (and no costumes)
-class specific (just for visuals) designed armor skins
-something other then darn medium trenchcoats for a change
-item to save your builds and switch em on the fly
-guild banner toy
-some more “rustical” and “subtle” weapon skins (think belinas sword..that direction)
-portable repair anvil to place down wherever you want it
-rytlocks (new) armor

alone from influence over tyria mordi seems to outmatch zhaitan by far. His veins go all over the land and his minions appear even in the mountains by the norn and far in the east ( to mordi´s turf) in ashford and annoy the charr devourer breeders over there and he doesnt even seem to be fully of the couch yet. Sure zhaitan had orr under his perfect controll and had here and there some undead attacks…but most further away attacks where thanks to a necromancer…and only indirectly had to do with zhaitan. As for his armies… we really dont know if thats all he got. Yes so far its just beasts…but quite a few of them dont seem to be plant based only…like the troll and the griffon, they are certainly corrupted (maybe also the wolf..cause it does got an animal skull as head), most likely just critters that doodle arround in the area where he is at, im pretty certain he will sooner or later start to corrupt more advanced species…like zhaitan did with his army or thriller backup dancers and also kralkatorrik and jormag with the branded and the icebrood. So yea… IMO mordi is already more dangerous then zhaitan. Also he directly attacked the summit.. what shows he is quite aware of what we are up to…and there is still that slight hunch i got that the sylvari are actually dragon minions.. or that the seed of the pale tree came to be through mordi….maybe something arround glint´s thing that she wasnt a kittendragon basically. We will (hopefully) see soon enough

But most of these places were only influenced, not dominated.

Zhaitan’s navy blocked the sea and attack from numerous places, it almost took Lion’s Arch twice and destroyed many posts. Sure it couldn’t go from underground but it was the most threatening dragon which is why it’s taken out first.

like i said.. it seems mordi isnt even fully awake yet and we dont know how “dominated” his home turf really is. We are just at the border atm… we didnt see anything of the jungle just yet…well cept some veins and by judging the size of these things and the speed they can move (if they want to) mordi is either gigantic or got a serios talent for botanics. Also imo a dragon who can technically grow most of his minions like granny grows radishes in the backyard got TECHNICALLY an endless supply of lackeys to send after us while zhaitan needed corpses to fill out his ranks (we even got a story mission where we cut off his supply routes and even his way to feed on magic), even most of his champions (like the eyes) where created of powerfull orrian rulers and other stuff like the lupicus giganticus. Well with orr he struck a gold mine of death without a question…but mordi technically only needs stuff a plant needs to grow (and we dont even know if he really needs it) and magic to feed on (whats a “duh” for an elder dragon, thats sorta what they do) to do his shenanigans and send his roots and minions all over the place…and that seemingly fast enough to catch entire fortresses by surprise. He also seems to be quite capable to consume magic without the need for creatures like the mouthes of zhaitan and know whats going on in tyria without the need for creatures like the eyes of zhaitan or facebook. Also mordi seems to love to kitten arround with poison gas…what he gladly shows off at the fortresses in the silver wastes and his minions do use tactics and assist and even heal eachother much more then zhaitans crew does (might be just to make the gameplay more interresting rather then meant to be tactics directly from the dragon…dunno if that one counts). Sure zhaitans marine was massive and he also had a lot of minion dragons…. but i really doubt we saw even a fraction of what mordi is capable off just yet. Lets just wait and see what comes…but imo mordi is waaaay more dangerous then zhaitan.

next one i make is a heavy… most likely a guardian…and i wait only for rytlocks new armor to create the new char( r ). Got everything prepared… level tomes, experience scrolls, skill point scrolls, armor (for stats) and pretty weapons…also ascended weapon boxes and infused backpiece, also rings and trinkets bought with laurels and fractal relics and a makeover kit for exclusive hairdo and stuff. She´s gonna be 80 and fully equipped in less then 1 hour. Only reason i didnt prepare the char just yet is that i dont got the armor to match everything. So bring it on a-net… better gimme the new armor soon…even bought a bulk of gems AND i got a weapon ticket ready just in case..

Shouldn’t Mordremoth be easier to take down than Zhaitan? Zhaitan had a whole nation of corpses plus many ship crew to use from the beginning, spent 120 years to build its army and expand the territory, consume as much magic as it could. Mordremoth didn’t have such time and resources.

Well, yes…sort of. But this is the first time we’ve experienced a dragon waking up. All of the others woke up before the game started.

Also, he might be stronger than Zhaitan. I think there was some mention (not sure where, though, so it could’ve just been speculation) that when one dragon falls (Zhaitan, for instance) the others get stronger due to the excess magic that they can consume. I imagine though that in the end, many of Mordremoth won’t have as vast an array of armies so much as just jungle creatures. He probably won’t have the calculating army like Zhaitan did.

Eww no? There already tonns of skins that ruins any kind of lore that AN managed to make at all. Don’t let the game became like Aion/usual fashion bs-mmo, where you cross furry costume dudes, etc…

All the things in this game and you pick on that as lore breaking? How about the fact that in a world with firearms, bows still exist? Or swords that shoot Void Ray lasers.

Or even the Jackalope? How is a burrowing animal like the rabbit supposed to do so with blooming great antlers? :p

its actually a mythical creature from germany\austria. Called mostly " Wolpertinger " or some other rather similar names here, even in the german version of the client the norn woman that follows it while we protect her from jotun refers to it by this name. Quite surprising that they are actually where put into the game, in fact i find it charming. That in the attachment is a painting of one by Albrecht Dürer.

stuff

Thank you for your comments!

How about this:

TL;DR for Gaile

  • create a bomb, a grenade, and a medkit “weapon” held in hand
  • if back item is equipped and box set to “show backitem”: always show back item (override hobo sack)
—> even if it is a back item without skin, so people can go with nothing on their back
  • if back item is equipped and box set to NOT “show backitem”: show hobo sack
  • on standard player models (competitive PvP): show hobo sack
  • Shields will still clash with back items, but it is the same problem (and can be handled the same) as any other class that has access to shields or sheathed weapons on the back, such as bows, greatswords.

This way, people who always want to see their backpiece can do so. People who like hobosacks can wear them. People who would like absolutely nothing on their backs can have that. And people who need to see a visual tell in order to know what weapon or kit the engi is using at the time, can do so.

Community: did I summarize this correctly? Is this the easy fix that will make almost every player happy – those that hate and those that love and those few that rely on seeing hobo sacks?

yeap…sounds about right. Everybody should be happy then…though i might also add another point that i (personally) find should be present aswell

Now the question is, how DO we get Gaile back into the thread? :P

Theoretically, the staff reads this thread, though they’re unlikely to say anything due to Anet’s policies.

well we got some reply after 1 year… thats SOMETHING i suppose.

Top 5 things Anet got wrong

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

5. Yeap.. so i was told. I dont personally got a problem with it cause the only place where you actually need ascended is fractals.. to have agony infusion slots. You can easily get rings and trinkets or make the fractal backpiece to ascended to fill this role. But yea.. its quite a little bit of bullkitten to add something they said they wouldnt. (also the armors are ugly looking imo)

4. So it wasnt only me who actually was kittened off as i played caithe and used skills that never gonna be used for anything but that LS capter. Yea.. feel ya man…by now we should have atleast 20 more skills and atleast 1 new weapon by class (2 years..its reasonable imo)

3. Yea… feel ya. The breaks are terrible, specially the wintersday one atm. Again we stand before a closed door with no conclusion to anything that happened before. “seeds of truth” my kitten … “seeds of standing before a closed door” is a better name.

2. Im actually one of the few who got less of an issue with this then the NPE…but yea..does suck. Getting freedom for going crazy with traitpoints anytime but locking out the other thing you need for a build and ya either need to go questing for it or pay…is bullkitten…but atleast you CAN pay for it and cheat out of it…thats something i suppose.

1. Yeap.. your rant bout sums it up OP. I wanna know whats going on in that game. I wanna know what to expect and i wanna have a chance to say i dont want it before it comes (like i would have loved to do with the NPE for example). They just should add a schedule thingy and update it if something changes. Like:

- Issue A : In progress of fixing. Expected fix at patch (whatever)

and if it changes its just like:

-Issue A : In progress of fixing. Postponed because of more pressing issues

and done. Yea lemme dream

Brand new class (not a Gw1 class)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

Well, since we already have 3 professions with light and 3 with medium armour, it speaks for itself that the ‘new’ profession would have to be a heavy armour type..

How about a Battlemage? A heavy armour user that can wield some devastating spells (so quite tanky and potential for some decent DPS)..

….just gonna leave that here. Not claiming i know anything and more then the pic i dont got…but it sorta does seem to go into that direction…does it

Basaltface.2786

I’m sorry but this isn’t a single post or the single time I’ve seen the post. People on these forums use terms like fan boy and white knight to try to dismiss perfectly valid opinions all around. There is a pervasive attitude on this forum that if you’re complaining you must be right, because you’re being honest. It’s not the first time it’s been said and it probably won’t be the last. So it hardly qualifies as nitpicking. He said it and obviously from what he said he meant it.

More to the point there are many people who post negative things here who don’t play the game and have said they don’t play it…but they continue to comment on it.

man.. honestly… i will now tell you something just from my point of view. The point of view from somebody you COULD call a… “black knight” for the moment

Do you really think i still would be there if i wouldnt love this game to death? Do you think i would even bother to read and write in a forum of a game im not invested in? Tell ya something… i tried a lot of mmo games since i discovered the genre. The latest 3 i tried where aeon, rift and final fantasy online… not realm reborn and also not the new one(or is the same? Heck i couldnt give less of a darn)…just ff online.

I played aeon for 2 weeks…never even bothered to go to the forums and speak my mind.. i was too busy sitting all 30 seconds and waiting till my health regenerates…was so boring that i faded in and faded out without getting even noticed by anybody.

Rift…well.. it looked like something i would like…that evil purple theme, the way you skill…but nope was also a step into the toilet. It bored me to death and i didnt even level long enough to equip a new chest piece i found.

Same like aeon… fade in…fade out…no complains and nothing. I canceled my subscription 3 days after i registered my account. FF Online.. oh boy… same scenario…though i never even fought a single monster cept that thing in the “tutorial”…or whatever that parade thingy was. Know what i did? Playing a boring as kitten mini game to craft chopper earrings…and like at rift and aeon i faded in and out without a noise.

Never saw a single forum of these 3 games..know why? Because i didnt care, the games where kitten to me, a waste of time…and nothing else. Guild wars 2….man.. i am glad that i picked that one up. Its a game that delivered…it was perfect, it was an experience to step into the world and get invested in whats going on. The fluid battle system, the fresh take on mmo, the races…art.. the darn personal story, the towns..architecture, culture….sooo much kittening yes. Leveling wasnt boring, to make a build is\was stupitly easy. Perfect controll all the time.

Ya know man… this was…and still is love. I love the game.. i kittenING LOVE the game, do you understand? kittening cupid and kitten, rose pedals and kittening heart shaped boxes with chocolate in it, sunset on the kittening beach love. I dont want this love to end, so i complain and raise my voice, point out the things i see as a flaw, ask for more content cause i want to stay in tyria and kitten about stuff i feel threatens my love to the game. To me anything i see as negative that happens to the game is actually painfull. Like seeing something you like destroyed…or a child growing up to be a crack dealer instead of a rocket scientist that the child technically could be so kittening easy.

Heck i would pay for the childs education (and i technically do with usually about 30 bucks a month or more since i play this game) and i only see the child investing into its crack addiction, dumping itself down, ignoring bugs… feels not nice. Hence why i kitten and moan and i will kitten and moan till i dont care anymore, and i dont want that i dont care anymore one day. I wanna go the road with the game to its end and i want that travel to be a long one, for the game and for me.

Vayne man… you really do many many times annoy the kitten out of me but i also see your points belive it or not and yea… i wont even pretend like your “white knight view” isnt as valid as mine is and like you dont raise points here and there that actually make me ponder for a moment. Just thought id give you a totally honest view of somebody who (i belive atleast) could be considered a normal everyday forum kittener who isnt alright with the way things go.

I do belive there are many like me (well maybe not that overkill in love) who want to remain in tyria or just return to it and have that good feeling again. I dont claim i know how anybody but i feel about it…but i got a hunch that atleast 70% of the “black knights” feel a similar way man. Also thats not an attack or something, just some honest stuff i wanted to say anyways sometime.

And yea.. its not the topic of the thread…sue me.

How the game is doing now ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

well… bout 70% of the changes made to the game where pointless, destructive or (imo) plain stupid.

-The playerbase clearly shrinks and becomes toxic…cant blame em (me included)
starving for content, classes, skills, traits, new weapons…aka stuffs an Xpac would add

- the devs…really hard to tell, it seems they try to get it fixed..but they sorta try to fix a hole in the wall they bashed in with a sledgehammer with a bandaid and a boo boo kiss…imo of course.

-Ls is mostly sylvari angst…but we got 2 new zones…desert stuff.. very nice (seriosly)
Also mordi is bout to get his kitten off the couch and flex his muscles like it seems. His minions that look like they escaped satans botanical garden itself are quite active

- WvW got a siege disabler…aaaaand…yea thats about it (yay…)

- PVP got an UI update…some new reward tracks..and dont quote me on this but i think 1 or 2 new maps.

- Gem store got a new gem conversion…well 2 of them.. one bout 2 days after the first change cause people complained left and right about it. Also the gem store got a new layout..that you may or may not like…matter of taste.

-Gem store armors shifted to mostly costumes… so if ya like to buy armor skins and mix your armor styles…you wont have many new….though there are reward armors…quite nice ones actually.

- Collections are a thing now. Like to collect crap? Yes? Awesome.. now you can collect the stuff and even get rewards for doing so. Anything.. trash, spoons, event items, skins… is really nice if thats up your alley.

- The dailies worked right? Well screw you.. new dailies cause it wasnt broken so a-net fixed it. Way better rewards (seriosly) but now you get rewarded for even showing up…yay.. challenge! Rewards! 5 stars! A+! You´re winner! ( yea.. i hate it, deal with it)
Also the dailies are now restricted to zones like “logger of ascalon (not gatherer, logger, you go to ascalon and cut wood..no herbs, no ore.. WOOD and nothing else)” or “events in queensdale” what is stupid. Also no salvage, revive and many other dailies anymore. Oh yea.. no monthly either anymore.

- Balancing made quite some formerly underwhelming skills powerfull.

- New skills? Nope… (cha, of course not)

- Leveling feels now like wearing a straight jacket and dragging an anvil behind you.
You get some better rewards though for putting up with the torture. Trait unlock still the same way…just ontop of the stupid NPE. Oh yea.. big parts of the personal story are missing now and you can only access the story all 10 levels cause screw freedom of choice right? Also weapon skills are now level gated too and you cant die in the tutorial…and many many other stupid things.

uhhh… and thats about the short notes with some personal opinion…do with it what you like. Note that the game still is fun…but it does feel like its taking 1 step forward and two steps back.

First, let me say your response was incredibly immature. But let’s forgo your lack of tact and discuss that issue.

You are also not a so-called ‘white knight’ defending a rah-rah-rah position. That’s how some of our fellow posters will see you. You are now a more noted public figure with a known identity.

I don’t think it too much to ask for there to be some form of buffer for those specialists.

Plus, I would also like for those persons to be able to continue to enjoy the game without the random whisper of some forum member who may or may not want to continue a ‘debate’ in-game through private messages. For some, they’ll see a forum specialist as someone with a huge target on their head.

Let’s not kid ourselves about that.

Well its optional… nobody forces people to sign up for it. I however dont got a choice in that. If i want it or not its gonna happen and i gonna have a FS breathing down my neck soon enough and there is nothing i can do about it. I saw enough “give people the slightest amount of power on the internet and watch em go caligula” situations. I dont want to have MY opinions diminished by somebody who isnt even employed by a-net…if a dev or forum moderator tells me to stuff my kittenhole its a completely different theme man. Forum order is a good thing and communication between a-net and the community is a good thing too obviosly. Im fully aware i sound like a massive D…but i dont want a…lets call it “secret police” who can just silence me cause they dont like what im typing. I might be an extreme example.. but there are certain sides outthere that i wont name that flat out just ban you for stating your opinions or delete your topics without any good explainations and you will never know who did it. I just dont want this to happen (as small as it may be) in that forum here…or give it any chance at ALL to plant even the smallest seed for that…and this may or may not be a seed, i personally take no chances with this stuff. It also does not matter the slightest if its a “white knight” a “black knight” or whatever, everybody got opinions. Even if i, myself would apply to that program i would want to have my name displayed cause i know what i would sign up for…what i technically could but wont. But yea.. im not gonna act like you dont bring up good points…but i personally couldnt care less, its optional afterall and they sign up to it fully knowing what they go into, its like telling somebody there is a lion pit they walk into and putting a neon sign above the door with a huge comical neon arrow pointing at it and flashing the words “lion pit”. Im not gonna say that the community is sunshine and rainbows…heck im a guy who cant stop complaining about certain issues myself. If its “needed” give em new accounts.. but the darn name is visible, there is a tag that states that its a FS and there is an option to report them for power abuse and then we can only hope for the best.

This is a trainwreck destined to happen…im calling it.

We have not made a final decision on this. What’s your opinion? Is there a reason it should be one or the other?

They should definitely get a new name or handle. This should not only protect the specialist, but it should curb some of the bias some forum members have for certain individuals.

In theory anyway.

If those specialists choose to reveal their identity, that’s should also be their choice.

Now turn that arround on the other side of the medal… where is my forum only account to protect myself from bias? Oh yea i dont need one cause i am not a FS…though i technically can or could do almost the same as a FS…just without a fancy title. So yea.. where is my identity protection? Why isnt my name blurred out? You can see my name right? Basaltface.2786? Could i hide my name to reply you? No? Why should they? If i will get most likely gonna be ridiculed for my opinion on certain topics or just “waved off” by a future FS (and im calling it.. thats gonna backfire horrible, just a matter of time)…i wanna atleast know the account name. Why would i wanna know that? Cause i can more or less report that guy\girl when they dont do their…uhh..lets say for the moment “job” proper…like you can report me anytime for not following rules, harrasing you cause mlg trollz4lolz or whatever else is not alright. Yea nope…. sorry but have a bowl of nopes with a scoop of whipped nope and a nope cherry ontop.

I somehow got a very bad feeling about this specialist program…

It does not bode well for any forum to be giving special tags out when it is already so heavily fractured into divisive groups.

thats exactly why i think that way man… this is destined to backfire horrible for all sides.

Agreed, and I hope they don’t do it. But if they do…
::grabs popcorn::

ohh they will do it and its gonna be a beautiful… beautiful trainwreck…like it always ends up if you give somebody a form of power in a forum that is so divided in opinions on stuff.

I dont think that every item released has to be applicable for every possible character. Put it in the gemstore and make sure that its applicability is clearly labeled.

Then im glad a-net doesnt think like you do… cause else nobody but females that share the human female anatomy would get anything nice or remotely acceptable at all.

well.. best thing i was able to do so far was with the help of the X-potion of my engineer on a bridge in EOTM. Was catching up to the zerg and didnt notice i got the potion selected as elite. I was about to cross a bridge and saw a small group of about 15-18 guys who where just about to flip the checkpoint on the bridge. They all where focused on the ogre that defended the point so i figured i better run and leave em… but then i noticed the potion i slotted and thought i might aswell go for it, the zerg was about to teleport anyways from what the chat said. I used the bomb kit´s smoke field behind a rock and stealthed myself and ran right into the middle of the group on the bridge that by now killed the ogre and waited till they took the point. I unleashed the potion and got the tornado and BAM…ultra push back kill lol. A guard didnt fall but he didnt last long after the potion wore off.. i guess he was in his inventory or stuff cause he didnt fight back till it was too late

Largos as a playable race?

those dudes are mostly water creatures and are meant to be mysterios… to make em a playable race would sorta take that mystery away from them big time. Also largos avoid land dwellers on purpose…they dont even trade or stuff like the tengu do. Id say…meh.. nah.. lets keep em mysterios. (though i wouldnt complain at all if they would add some armor in their style..cause that stuff is kitten)

- Beeing able to holster the kit weapon like it would be a normal weapon

Its not all that nice to be stuck constantly in battle stance, its like an ele could never put his\her staff or dagger or whatever away. Not sure how many would agree on that..and not like i (personally) would flip my kitten if that wouldnt be added or something..but it would be nice regardless.

wintersday feedback hmm…

Well it wasnt bad for me (sorta done with it at this point cept the snowball pvp thingy). Certainly the best thing ever about the event is the star of gratitude…god darn thanks so much for that, also the “infinite” bell is pretty neat to have in my “stuff to fool arround with” bank tab. I most likely wont get the rebreather…but whatever, got a rare one, that will do till the next chance for a rebreather. I got harvesting tools in boxes for the next century too now… so yeap, really cant complain.

Activity wise its pretty much the same like last year.. so not much to say bout that…cept that i did the darn jumping puzzle with a charr and i could have been easily mistaken with a rabies infected mad man on a serios overdose of caffeine as i finally got my chars fat kitten into the box at the end, one could say i might have a bit of an issue to do jumping puzzles under pressure…but thats my issue, not the games. I expected a stronger reward though cause it is quite a though challenge…but whatever, done did it lol.

Overall it wasnt bad, the star alone made it worth it for me..and also the celestial trinkets at each JP for the collection are neat (lotsa ectos, made bout 5 gold with some easy jumping puzzles lol). If id need to rate it id give it a 9\10…excluding the star it would be a 7 cause i deep inside did wish for a new activity or something…but hey cant complain.

Well, given the hints that Necromancer will possibly get Greatsword (Majory uses animations we’ve never seen before and has different skill effects than we’ve ever seen before), it may not be out of the question that Guardians may be getting warhorns in the future.

Engineers getting Longbow, though… that I doubt.

lol yea.. rather hammer and mace. I aint even mad that i got a bow out of the box.. was just funny lol

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

the new dailies huh? Well they suck kitten . The concept behind them is very good though, also the new rewards are really nice. You get a chest related to what you did. The issue with the new dailies is the zone\area restriction…also that you get login rewards. The old dailies made you do your “tasks” and THEN you got your reward, your laurel, your coin, your essence of luck and here and there a black lion related item..like a salvage kit, a transmutation charge or a repair canister or something like that, also some EXP and a few coins. You needed to work before you get anything. Now you get a reward for even showing up.

If i would have anything to say in that matter the new dailies would work like this…

-You get nothing at all if you log in
-You do the OLD dailies and get your new chest with completing them, also some AP
-Got the dailies done you get the login reward chest and the remaining AP

But since i dont.. i just gonna state my opinion and that the new dailies blow the way they are atm. Especially the event restriction to zones is really not fun at all. Running with a zerg at events that where not designed to hold even that many people, tagging one mob to get credit and waiting…yea.. thats an accomplishment if i ever saw it. Also why split the gatherer to zones AND between ores, wood and herbs? Where is the salvage archivement? Why the vista one? Why do even vistas count you already visited? Meh… whatever isnt like a-net cares anyways

~massive wall of text~

Just fyi. The changes to the trait system are not part of the NPE. They were in a completely different feature patch, 6 months beforehand.

did you read that i summed up my whole experience in leveling\playing and that the trait changes came before the npe and i actually prefered the trait changes over the NPE? Cause thats practially what i wanted to bring across.

NPE Feedback [Merged] - Please read 1st post

Basaltface.2786

well not like anybody is going to care bout what my opinion on the NPE is.. but here i go..

The NPE is one of the most foul and wretched things i ever experienced in a game… ESPECIALLY cause i did start my very first char about 1 year ago. I leveled the “classic” way, got my point to spend on each level and if i wanted to change my build i needed to pay a fee to reset it. Alone to be able reset my build was new to me.. cause the last mmo like game i really nerded into was diablo II. Basically if you done goofd with your build over there you got 2 choices… either deal with it or start over but back to the theme. Each level i got a trait point that i freely could assign wherever i please. Basically my char (a charr engineer that i still run as my main) got stronger and stronger each level…and that felt nice. It wasnt a huge power leap..but i did notice it, in addition to that i got (if i wanted to) all 5 levels a trait to choose and with that quite some power increase. I loved it, a lot. Eventually the first feature pack came.. and with that the changes to the trait system…like packing the points into units of 5 and “questing” to get the traits you needed. By that point i was already 80 on my main, it didnt affect me much cept the slight restriction of how i wanna put my points into use. Was it for the better? Maybe…maybe not. Was the questing for traits that where available anytime for free back then a good idea? No.. really wasnt, but either way.. the system worked. Flawed? Yes.. but nothing is perfect. Besides the traits you also had the choice to do your story as you please. Lvl 5 and wanna do a lvl 10 story part? Suit yourself, but dont be surprised if you get rekt…and boy did i get rekt…and that was a good thing. It showed me that i need to man up and that i and my char need to get better. She needs more levels, skills and traits and a working build and i needed more skill to controll her, know the combos i can pull off, appreciate buffs, learning how extreme armor stats, runes and sigils can change the feel of the char even learning how food and stuff like wetstones can make a massive difference…and im glad i learned to play the game this way. There was a…how to put it… a feeling of accomplishment once i was able to do something on a level i shouldnt be able to do just yet…if i could trust the red “thats above your level man” text and man it did feel good as i stood there on the end of the stairs to the arah dungeon…fully maxed out with a build that worked just perfect for me with the hunter rifle in my chars hand that i looted from a risen mage that just didnt understand that we are not buying or selling at this door and i didnt have a clue what treasure it is, wearing my soldier stat armor and (back then) citadel runes. I felt like one of the big ones, ran alone through the deserted orr (was before the mega servers) and it felt like the ultimate test to me back then. I felt like i did it, ready to take on a foe that technically is waaaay above my chars head…and man..it felt so good, all the way through the leveling. The NPE now takes that “magic” away… it really does. It locks down everything. “Want fun? NO! You arent the right level.. oh noes you could get hurt or challenged! Back to doing these hearts and come back when you are lvl 10.”
“No! NO! You cant learn your weapon skills by using the weapon! What are you thinking?! Think that is a joke?! NO! You could get confused and by all means we cant have that” I mean what the hell… Leveling isnt an experience anymore, it is more of a…uhh.. its more like getting bound in a straight jacket that opens one of its countless shackles and locks all few levels, im not gonna lie.. if i had experienced gw2 after the NPE and didnt know how it once was i wouldnt even be there anymore to type this.

To come to a point… IMO the NPE is the darkest, most evil and destructive force in tyria and it did ruin leveling for me.. zhaitan take notes.. thats how you spread terror across the lands. I will make a char soon.. but i wont level it, i gonna use tomes and scrolls and THEN i gonna step out to the world and try to re-life the glory…well minus the leveling cause seriosly… kitten that kitten
