Am I the only person who liked Seeds?

the LS always felt to me like…dunno how to name it without sounding like a real kitten…well here goes nothing… the LS feels like sylvari circlejerking all the way and leaves out the other races far too much or just makes em villians (like the asura atm). Sure.. it was stated that asura DID do experiments on sylvari.. but they do\did that on anything else they can get their grabby little hands on and if its too “dirty” the inquest does it anyways so whats the fuzz? Anyways.. the last LS patch was by far the weakest. Faolin is a kitten (i never would have guessed that the NIGHTMARE COURT boss woman might be evil), caithe killed centaurs that technically didnt attack her and just acted in self defence against faolin means she is sorta a kitten too, asura are kittens cause they do experiments and thats about everything… this and weirdo seeds from the pale tree that for some reason will explain why kitten caithe took the darn egg without explaination even though these seeds show past memories…so yea..really dunno what to do with this. Might just be me overthinking…or whatever..

New story quests, can't use kits.

Basaltface.2786

heh.. i already posted some confessions here.. but i gonna go for another round

- I find humans and norn way too generic but i envy the quality a-net puts into their
armors.

- I also wish a-net would put atleast half the effort they put into human female armors
into charr and asura armor aswell sylvari armor so that these races can also
represent their very unique style

- there should be a lot more class specific designed armor for all classes AND races to
represent what they do and still represent their race rather then the way too generic
sets outthere.

- my first char was a charr engineer, i didnt notice its a chick till i was lvl 25
(to my defence i had no speakers at the time i started playing) i kept her ever since
as my main

- all my alts are also female charrs and share the same face, horns, fur pattern and
hairdo

- i wish the one who approved the medium charr armors and the one who made the 3d models (especially the cultural t1 and t2) would slap him\herself and ponder for a moment why they hate the charr and if possible come back to me on this and lemme know. Also who thought it would be a good idea to make the medium armors 90% coats should do that.

- I see elementalists in my groups as rivals and will do my darn hardest to outmatch them. I cant really tell why i act this way…just always was like this, i got nothing against the class at all on the other hand.

- Im scared kittenless of necros in WVW and PVP and will do my darn hardest to run my charr´s stubby legs off to get the hell away from them as fast and far as possible

- I like rangers but i hate rangers who use point blank shot and push enemies out of my
bomb aoe…or just do it in general in zergs or something. I think its selfish and annoying.

- I dont care for dungeon metas or anything like this. I think every class can bring something to a team, though i will leave groups where people refuse to work together.

- i find it harder and harder to justify picking up a gem card at my bi weekly gamestop visit…what i find very sad.

- I was beyond kittened off as i found out the blowtorch that got recently added to the LS
is in fact a torch weapon rather then a pistol skin.. if it is one of the few weapon skins that scream engineer and is even held like one…

- I might be alone on this.. but i got the feeling a-net hates the engineer class and does its best to show it.

-snip-

To be fair, they have been listening to the community more than a lot of games I’ve played. From a technical standpoint, changing the graphic on an already implimented system is not as difficult as modifying a working system to add capability of changing a graphic that was never intended to be changed from the client side. So if both of these projects landed on my desk first, I would say “Do the gryphon first since it’s the easier project, and we can have it up by the time we do tbe Christmas update of the gemstore.” because that is what makes the most logical sense.

Adding the functionality to change engineer backpacks from the client is a much more in-depth project than just making new backpack graphics and sticking them in the game. If you don’t want them to be Gem Store exclusive it then turns into a project of not only updating the GUI to add the ability to change graphics at will, but also figuring out how to impliment them into the game. If they will be craftable you have to determine recipies. Where can these recipes be found? Are they drops? Purchased? Which crafting trades can make them? If we give the engineers this extra customization, what can we give the other classes to make it so it doesn’t feel like engineers are getting bonus goodies other classes don’t get?

These are all part of the process and it takes some time.

Game designers are not miricle workers, and there is a lot that goes into what we see that we’re not aware of.

Having a decent looking char that got the backpieces not glitching together or clipping into the heads of certain races while hiding any weapon the user got and so effectively taking away TWO of the end game features beeing backpieces that often are rewards for pvp, crafting and ls aswell weapons that for many people are gem store related via ticket weapons that somebody gotta pay afterall with money (not everybody obviosly but i kittening do for example), legendaries or exotics that can be expensive as sin AND also constantly putting you into battle stance with the only way to avoid this is by completely skipping an entire class mechanic is bonus all of a sudden? Well thats new to me man… sorry but there is no way arround saying that they done goofd in the design of that system. Imagine how big the kittenstorm would be if the closest to engineer.. the elementalist would suffer the same fate. Elementalists got subtle bracers representing the element they are using atm that DONT overwrite the gloves, they can stow their weapons away and only loose them when using a summon weapon.. but thats a given, benefit from legendary effects like auras and footprints if they got one AND got their backpiece out and visible when they choose to use one. How about the ranger? The mesmer? The warrior, guardian? Thief? The necro maybe? Does any of these classes got THIS specific issue? No? Then why should we do? Why should i have glitching backpieces? Why should i never see my on RNG luck based ticket weapon or my legendary that i grinded my soul away for (if i had one but i dont.. still others do)? Why should i have a backpiece that clashes with my armor colours or any backpiece if i dont want one? Why should i have ANY of these issues in a game where the end game is visual appeal? And why should the engineer be the only class that got these issues out of 8 classes specially its one of the TWO classes and i quote “could not ship the game without” (other one is guardian in case you dunno)? No man.. there isnt any excuse for that, not for me atleast. Sure, might be not easy to fix it.. but its two years now, two years people complain about it, they complain since the beta up to the very moment i type this AND will complain in the future. Why? Cause they want to look pretty. Sure.. some people may like the kit backpieces and many others might wanna see their…whatever their job-o tron backpiece or their shadow of grenth, their slickpack or their vine packpiece or their guild banner or whatever they got or nothing at all cause it doesnt fit their taste.

actually got a good one. Imagine.. a basilisk, but not a small one like we got arround. Imagine a HUGE one.. size of SB. Its “arena” is ring shaped, a hole in the middle where the basilisk is, its upper body including its front legs stick out of the hole. It can only be attacked from behind while it does its main attack that lasts arround 20 seconds and will focus on the biggest cluster of players on its arena. Its attack pattern is simple.. but lethal. It will let its eye glow up to do a well telegraphed and somewhat slow but 100% instant killing conic aoe attack in the size of its vision field that petrifies and kills any player that got the avatar faced towards the creature but doesnt affect the players at all if they are faced away. All 20% of its health it will go into a rage fit and bash with its front legs onto the ring arena to do massive aoe damage and move in a counter or clockwise way till it got the entire ring worked down with hits. Now thats where the fun comes in.. the ring shaped arena is slightly conic and higher towards the beast then to the edge and stands in a lava pool. Everytime the basilisk does its ragefit it pummels the ring deeper into the lava.. and so reduces the walking surface. The speed and frequency aswell power of attacks get faster each ragefit. Imo that would be a darn funny raid to do

What did you want out of GW2?

Basaltface.2786

What i wanted out of guild wars 2? Playing an engineer, a big kitten charr engineer with daunting and beautifull designed armor like the concept arts led me to belive i would get and a freaky armory of engineer weapons, tools, gadgets and kitten turrets in a world that moved on from the 100% magic thingy and entered a time where magic and machines co-exist. I got…well the “coke light in a dirty glass” version of what i wanted.

I got to play an engineer, a charr engineer with rather..lame designed armor (if you can call coats even armor) thats stretched love and carefree with blurry textures over the charr body (and anything else but humans and if you are lucky norn) and semi freaky armory of engineer weapons that glitch like crazy with my armor´s backpiece when i use em, a toolkit that doesnt cut it as the “BOOM prybar in your face and one with the blowtorch cause kitten you!” thing i wanted and no other melee weapon in sight (talking about a hammer or something, not the current kits), turrets that didnt work for anything proper for 75% on my time here in a world that only remembers there is machines and engineering here and there and completely ignores the friggin TANKS (HELLOOO?! Why the hell they are not on the frontline in the battle against the mordem?! A-net? Hello? Tanks? Massive boom?! No? Alright..) and other stuff in the citadel that stands there and gathers dust.

Though.. gw2 is a game made with love and care…sadly no love and care for the “basic” stuff i came to enjoy myself, a world where you got clashing swords and spellcasters on the battlefield while tanks and mortars fire from the back. Its not like i didnt enjoy it (i dont play that much anymore, not much to do cept the ls), but like i said.. i sorta wanted a glass of classic coke and got coke light in a dirty glass. I sure did drink it after i whiped the glass clean..but it didnt taste like what i was hoping for. Does it mean the game is bad? Not at all, in fact its IMO still the best mmo outthere and i do love the universe…but so much wasted potential…really sad, it could be even more then it is…

Basaltface.2786

there should be more cultural sets in general… there might be a reason for some people why they play a specific race

I don’t like to sound unfair, but sylvari are plants… it’s different – very different – from other races. :/

Its also not that easy for any other non human to represent their race and for what they are known for, sure.. beeing a plant and growing your armor is…unique, but so is a garden gnome sized race of pretty much technomancers with a sorta mayan meets tron style and a 4 eared, 4 horned cat ogre race that pretty much reached the industrial era. I dont mean to insult anybody.. but if you are not a human or norn (prefered female, but males arent that far behind) you will have a though time to find anything to really show the attributes of your race of choice..cept maybe the cultural sets (and even those are for some races extremely wtf, im looking at you medium charr cultural t1 (its rags and ropes.. yea clearly a sign of advance). Not only sylvari got the issue.. trust me on that one, hence why i said there should be more cultural sets in general… or how about that cook outfit? Saw what this thing did? It changed to pretty much perfectly put the style of each race into a spotlight… if anything there should be more of that stuff (as armor SKINS for christs sake!) in the gem store so nobody feels left behind. I might not play sylvari…but i do like to see a good looking one, like i do with any race, gender and profession

Why does it matter if its gemstore? Just use gold and convert it to gems. The drama about gemstore is so unfunded. What difference does it make if you have to gather a bunch of materials that end up costing a comparable price to the gold to gem thing?
While also wasting more time running around.
Also most gemstore backpieces are actually tradable via TP with some very low prices like a few golds.

Do other classes need to pay for not having their backpieces replaced by kits?
Nah man… usually im not one to deny the gem store, but this here isnt a gem store thing. New skins for the sacks? Thats on the other hand a different thing, but to have the thing fixed and working certainly doesnt belong anywhere near the gem store.
You afterall dont need to pay for..lets say ele bracers so that they dont overwrite your gloves either.

what twithe said

Though i gonna add that engi got no cooldowns for kit switching… ele however got attument cooldowns what makes it really easy to synergise kits, skills and turrets..or all at once if thats your style. You see.. engi is literally like a perfectly working machine if you know what buttons to press and the best is, you can do all at the same. Might stacking, vun stacking, healing. How about evading and vun stacking? Or evading and doing an unblockable aoe? Stealth maybe? How about confusion? Need CC? Need condi and CC? Water field? Perma swiftness? Perma regen? Need to be invulnerable? Reviving somebody via aoe? The whole rainbow of conditions (cept torment and fear)? Ya can have everything…CEPT good condi cleansing and stun breakers…that can bite you in the kitten sometime depending on what you wanna do….but id say for PVE related things your solid to massive health pool (depending on the build) and to the ele superior (in defence.. and not visuals) armor can take quite some abuse.

Without a question ele can do pretty much everything aswell… and if you want my opinion on what to choose.. pick both, try em out, maybe invest some time into both classes and learn how to controll em and then see where it goes. Both are solid and fun without a question and hey.. maybe both stick

Basaltface.2786

Actually… that doesnt sound stupid at all to be honest. The “npe” isnt…per say liked by everybody… especially people who already did that whole leveling thing. I gonna be honest here.. it suuuuuuucks to level now. Try to level for example an engineer with no darn kits and 1 pistol… or 3 attacks of a rifle and then one kit. Earlier i could have 2 pistols, a working rifle or a shield to do basically ANYTHING but auto attack, now i sit there and pick my nose while my low level char auto attacks something to death. Fun? No. Rewarding? No. Do i need to learn how to play as a vet who got 5 alts on 80 decked out in ascended and\or dungeon sets? No, probably not, i might not play on a pvp level but i know my stuff. So why dont use all the darn skill points and exp that my main gets (or atleast a portion of it) and get tomes of knowledge with it…or anything really that gets the new char to level up? Cause i cant. You see.. i used to love running arround on the maps, doing heart quests and stuff to get my levels, ya know.. exploring and stuff, but the first feature patch really (imo) messed up the traits and the fact you get points every level to assign to a traitline you want, sure now you can assign them new on the fly.. and thats a nice thing. You got stronger every level and every 10 levels you had a trait of your choice to put into a traitline. You could make “makeshift” builds that buff the skills you got and help you tackle stuff. Now you gotta pay for the good traits… or do stupid things for them while you cant even use your basic weapon proper, only got 1 skill for a WAY too long time, get the trait points way too slow ( i mean seriosly.. grandmaster traits unlock at 80 wtf..) and its really not fun to try to tackle stuff you shouldnt be able to do at your level cause you are too low.. cause you cant do that either.. the allmighty barrier of the 10 level mark forbids you to venture further into your personal story, the game takes sure you cant even kitten up the personal story, kittening up is outlawed, dont worry handholding goes till lvl 80, the “you should be lvl whatever to do that story” did just fine, went in and got rekt? You knew why, the red text told you that you suck and should gtfo and level…or git gud. Yea… how about no thanks to all of this. How about we make some merchant somewhere that sells you tomes of knowledge for skillpoints…like 5 for 1 tome or something so that people who dont want to pull their nails with pliers to level up another alt? Im sure im not the only one who sits on 360 of these on my main alone and for those who come “uhhh but thats cheating or thats not how leveling is supposed to be done” Good.. then dont do it, nobody forces you to do so. Wanna do that stupid NPE leveling? Go on and have fun.. i dont judge, tastes differ afterall. And if its the first char you level you will find the NPE helpfull.. and cant affort the tomes anyways… cause 1 level up would cost 5 points… basically you would need to level up 5 times to level up once for free and dont unlock any skill… so yea.. IMO that would be good..

Bit off topic.. but while im at it..
Might aswell say… a-net.. if you wanted people to unlock traits the new way… how about you make completely unique traits you can ONLY unlock that way in pve, pvp should have all unlocked obviosly cause those dudes aint gonna have time for that kitten that do completely new stuff…like the last traits you added? New epic traits could count as rewards too i think…and why dont do the same with new skills right away too?

lakdav — it’s not necessarily “re-artifying” the items, but optimizing art if an item is resized.

Sometimes players think that a miniature is simply a resized piece of art from the game, like a skritt or an NPC. But in fact each miniature involves some level of new or re-optimized art. I like to share details because I think that a lot of folks don’t realize how what looks like “a simple fix” really does involve more than it first appears.

I might gonna sound like an kitten right now but i take the chance i sounded like an kitten before in this treat countless times anyway.

I think two years are quite some time for a “simple fix” that drives more people away from the class then many ppl would think, specially since end game content is to a big part making a pretty looking char. Look at elementalists… they got a similar system. What do they have? Bracers that dont overwrite the gloves and a neat attument icon. Fair enough. What do the engineers get? Brown, barely “charr tech” (what the engineer class uses afterall after the lore) looking sacks with a reddish brown cloth rag that remove the backpiece or just right away clip away like there is no tomorrow with it. Why arent these things designed at all like they would be made by charr? Where is the dark metal? The lion like engravings? Why do these things look so “basic” if we need to use them from day one to whenever? I mean somebody on the design team must have atleast thought about how badly this will backfire eventually.

Engineers already clearly got the shaft with the armor class and its…rather underwhelming designs that consist of 90% coats and two gem store armors who got a more “traditional” design…or better said a design id think of if i think engineer and only 3 (land) legendary weapons that also dont really look anything like they would be used by a non magic using class and then also these “high end game” items dont benefit the engineer at all if he\she is a kit user. No footsteps, aura, special projectile effects while you use a kit, also no visible lion ticket weapon 90% of the time, no LS reward backpack 90% of the time. Lets compare this to the elementalist.. beeing the closest in mechanics to the engi. Their weapons are visible all the time, effects are visible and the weapon can be sheathed…another thing the kits dont do. Again i ask myself why this was approved… specially cause the engineer class was one of the two classes
and i quote : “Could not ship the game without” (the guardian is the other class for those who dont know)

I mean sure…the staff got other things going on… but its two years now, two years cause i know that people already complain since the beta about this issue…. In two years im sure somebody had a day or two to look into that…

If i would need to guess id say they either go into the ticket merchant´s inventory for the usual 1 ticket per skin price or you will get them in the new area with the bandit badge currency at some later LS update cause you are able to get the new armor shoulders already, so they might build up to getting the weapons aswell the same way. Either one is fine to me.. though the latter would be more welcomed. They really milked the “pact theme” with these things.. they remind me an awefull lot on the big airship´s design at the zhaitan battle…what is a good thing (the airship, not the battle)

well, that sounds on par for … loot.

you get other stuff and bags together with that rune or sigil bag.. wouldn call it “unfair” or weak loot

Yea all the other rewards were quite good, the globs, rares, new skin etc. It’s just those minor bags that felt out of place.

that without question. Might be a “testrun” for a random rune bag loot item for mobs or champs or something

This is how you make a story update… Im not gonna lie.. i really HATED the LS season 2. It felt…not right. Watching npcs talk for 20 mins and then fighting a bit and thats about all that it was. But this here.. ohhhh man. kittening “pve\wvw” battle against dragon minions with actual mechanics like fortifications? Glints lair? The library? Oh hell yes! All over my body! Oil me up in that kitten. Only things that i “miss” in the update… where is the darn blowtorch pistol skin and a backpack version of that beautifull hourglass? Come on a-net…. seriosly.. look at me and tell me straight in the face that you think that people wouldnt want the “blowtorch pistol”…and i might be alone on the hourglass.. but whatever i want that thing for my mesmer >_<. But yea.. thats not even worth to bring up. A-net you did good.. VERY good. Faith restored and buffed to 200%

[&AgG8CAEAAA==] Eternal Sands

It’s not a backpack but it is a focus skin. I don’t think it’s available yet but it is in the dat. So is the blowtorch.

Well now we are talking…

New armor/class question

The shoulders come in an armor box, ya can pick the one you want or keep the box for later like an ascended chest and even if you still want another armor rating you can get another of these boxes in the new area for the bandit badge “currency” they introduced and 1 gold. Thats how ya make rewards… good one a-net

So Anets's Chinese release promotions...

Hi! I’ve been interested in finding a high-tech look for my Charr&Asura.
Weapons:
Bolt, Incinerator, The Predator, Fused/Aetherized weapons – I’m pretty sure I like these. Armor with dyes is a much more delicate and harder part, though, and that’s why I’m asking for your help :-)
Engineer, Thief(Medium Armor implied)

magitech with t3 cultural skirt… thats as “tech” as i was able to make it myself without having too much of the typical coat look…its far from the level of tech id love it to have..but a-net isnt really cooperative if you want “charrpunk” or asura style stuff. Maybe that helps

Since we talk about ranges here… they should let us change skills on the weapons to turn the rifle to a proper shotgun with conic aoe attacks (like rifle 3) and give the nade kit a handheld grenade launcher…maybe like an 18th century one.. aka this thing

You dont get nice things as a charr player.. get over it.. a-net doesnt care about charr, they make it more and more visible (lich outfit, overall armor quality..etc..). What makes you think they would give only a slightest kitten about the footprints?

Charr or Asura for Engineer?

You’d think if Charr created all those kits they’d know how to make them not clip through every part of their body T_T

…or float a mile behind them.. but yea lets keep that to the hobosack topic

Charr or Asura for Engineer?

Basaltface.2786

Well, if you roleplay or like lore defenitely choose charr cause they invented the profession or at least started using it as a form of combat. At least thats what I read on other forum posts.

Yea its canon. The engineer as the gw universe knows it was “invented” by charr and all the kits you use are also charr designed weapons.

Here a quote from the official wiki:

Engineer technology really developed with the Charr first and foremost. And its [sic] one of the specialties developed by the Charr Iron Legion. When we talk about the Engineer he is very much a Combat-Engineer and good in inventing things that are useful in a combat situation. The Iron Legion is the start of all of this, and the Engineer profession has spread to the other races from there. The People of Tyria have seen it in combat over the past few years and have seen the effectiveness of an engineer. And so you are going to see Engineers of all races although it is a little bit more common to see a Charr Engineer than anybody else. So it all started with the Charr and their technological development.1
