The armours in GW2…at least a majority of them isn’t that skimpy. You have plenty of armour variety that will make you look classy. (I know, because I have literally 8 female characters, different races and classes).

About the skimpy male armour – I guess it’s fair? XD Kind of scary, but fair.
I always wanted the ability to hide any armour part. That would be great.

scary? I really dont think so.

But we already have 3 similar sets like that. Gladiator, Pit Fighter and Barbaric.

is like i would say there is only one (two if you wanna stretch it) clearly engineer related armors in game. The more the better imo. More armors for everybody, every taste and style Keeps stuff fresh ya know

Finally New Armors for Guild Wars 2

I just don’t understand what problems people with clipping have. First, it’s nearly impossible to prevent this. Especially with so many armors and races. I really don’t know but it seems the only game people complain about this. Play WoW, your cape clips through the mount and the stool you sit on, but who cares? For me it’s just a part of RPGs generally and don’t see it as a ‘faulty’ feature, it’s just normal.

You guys should be a bit less autistic towards armor perfection. It’s really ridiculous, we have a lot and much bigger problems with this game now…

…then vanity what is a huge part of the end game. Dont take that nice thing away, we dont got much end game so leave atleast that.

Noone in their right mind would fight with a sword against rifles. Want to abolish sword too ?

well that logic should be left at the door if you see a human female with noodle arms swinging a sword the size of a coffin like its a kitchen knive or a garden gnome sized asura throwing a rock his\her size 30 feet or the lovechild of a viking and the hulk doing ninja like leaps and stealth while a 330 lbs 4 horned, 4 eared cat ogre lets clones of him\her explode into butterflys.

As for the skimpy armors…well might aswell give males skimpy armor too.. female (human like races) already swim in it, i sometimes seriosly cant tell a mesmer from a warrior if they both carry GS without clicking on them so whats the harm. Some sleeveless breastplate, maybe some roman style armor bottoms and sandals with shin armor…or just a bit of a fur shrug with chains for the chest or something… i could see that working quite well. Though id first branch out for some more class specific (designed) armors (and not freaking costumes, finally split this darn things or sell a skin pack version too!!!) before polishing up the inventory with stuff like this. But yea.. sure i am for “skimpy” male armor. Especially norns, sylvari and charr will appreciate it (for tattoos, glowy stuff and furs) and whoever else wants it of course

@Basaltface

Okay, so I understood how the kits and hobosack work then . . .

Yeah, I can see the point of the annoyance. And from an amateur perspective of looking at what would need to be done, I think it is a change on the level of ranger pets -

As in “we’d have to rebuild a system (in this case bundle weapons) to fix this”.

I hate to talk negatively but I don’t expect it’s something you can expect fixed soon

Yea man.. we dont either, we keep that topic always on the front page in the engi forum in desperate hope… but atleast a straight forward answer from a-net would give many people closure. Knowing if something is gonna happen at all or not is already worth much. A “nothing is off the table” and “we cant disclose information” is as usefull as a magic 8 ball that is missing the yes and no.

Communication? Disappointment.

The engineer forums still wait for something like an answer if\when the hobosack issue gets fixed… or ignored to have SOME knowledge about that issue. A simple " yea is coming arround (enter month here) and we fix it like (enter how here)" or a “nope dun caaaare, lol suck it engies, l8tor loosers” would already do a lot at this point. Sure.. it IS without a doubt not everybodies issue.. but i do think after a topic reached 1127 replies and 94829 views atleast some dev should go and read wtf is going on there and then ask his\her fellow devs\coders\whoever knows wtf if they gonna do something about it and then tell the community. Thats atleast my humble opinion.

If the engineers can get some update on their dirty sack issue, can we rangers expect something about exactly what needs to happen for pets to get an overhaul other than “we’d have to redesign the AI”?

Though at this point, I’d just quietly suggest a Trait Mastery to reduce AoE damage a pet receives.

yea stuff like this should be just answered with a simple “yea or nope” by the staff and have stuff off the table. Cause to know if or if not already is a LOT.

Bear in mind, on the pet thing? They explicitly said they didn’t want to allow the pet to be totally removed, and there were hints the AI was a problem they didn’t want to touch during the time of the CDI.

So, in a way, we knew it was “off the table”, but rather only so it could go on a shelf to look into later.

I suspect the “hobosack” issue is likewise something they aren’t prepared to take on . . . correct me if I’m wrong, but these weapons which cause the backpack are bundle weapons for just the Engineer right? And the hobosack appears when you pull out the kits?

That suggests it’s part of the bundle and not something which can just be reskinned by planting a Transmutation on it.

yea its a bundle but that backpack that bundle comes with is an extreme annoyance to many engineers cause it clips with the backpieces you often buy\invest a lot of time in and it most of the time also clashes with the armor colours, clips with the heads of asura and humans and practically ruins the visuals of many players. Needless to say it also hides any legendary effects. Engineers such as myself dont ask for complete removal or even skins, we just ask to have a checkbox to hide the backpack of the bundles if we choose so that we can look as good as other classes, display our LS backpieces or just have the backpack away alltogether, and those who like the bundle backpack can keep it.. its an optional checkbox afterall. In a game where vanity is practically a huge part of the end game we should be able to look as nice as anybody else. Sure.. its without a doubt not a mayor issue like the “ranger pet derbness” , but it is an issue to (many) engineers. The packs are also not of any use in pvp related things and even if they are to some people there is a feature to “normalise” the char models so there is really not an excuse…if they even can keep up with the fast kit switching and can tell them apart.. whats pretty difficult because the backpack is usually faced away from you and the kit´s attacks make it already obvios enough on what the engineer throws at you (such as the handheld weapons at flamer, e-cannon and toolkit and the flying grenades and ground placed bombs). But yea.. to wrap it up.. its NOT a game breaking issue but it is a vanity breaking issue that annoys many engineers and since over one year not a single dev said even the slightest word about it… aside from a “joke” at a ready up episode.

Communication? Disappointment.

As i came to gw2 i had moderate skills at mmo games at best. Sure.. i played other mmos before, enjoyed some more.. and some shouldnt be talked about. I remember my first experience with gw2 dungeons… the AC one to be precise (story mode). Was in there on lvl 30 cause i got a letter that told me to check it out.. and the group i was in with got their kitten handed to them (all arround lvl 30-35). We all had no experience on what to do and how to do it, two of that group never even played an mmo before in their lives. It was a pain in the kitten …till we sorta noticed we can do combos together, buff and heal eachother and we used this to our advantage. The warrior noticed that with a hammer he can CC the annoying and everhealing monks, the ele learned how important it is to swap attunements and use stuff like the ice bow and mist form, me (the engi) got a massive education about combo fields and so on. We got better and better through the run and if we hit an obstacle we couldnt defeat (such as the troll and the lovers) we sat down and talked it over, adjusted our builds (traits cause back then you couldnt change it on the fly), changed our equipment and prepared to face the threat till we pulled through. As we lolslapped the ghost king to the floor and finished the dungeon we felt like the masters of the universe… seriosly.. ill never forget that feeling that we got after that 4 hour failure of a dungeon run that probably every sane person had left after 20 minutes. We stood there with broken armors, our tiny inventories stuffed to the top with loot. We all got stronger… maybe not in level or equipment to a noteworthy level but we got stronger in understanding our class and how to use it together with fellow players so that all benefit from it. We grew together as a team and we had fun.. A LOT of fun. Back then it was challenging. Today i run that dungeon solo here and there for the nostalgia…cause that group i had moved on to more challenging games. I cannot blame them, they where not challenged enough. It wont bring them back to add harder content… but eventually many new(er) players will be where veterans are and will look for a new challenge to face… and like the vets right now they wont find much, will get bored, pack their stuff and venture out to new adventures…in other games. Im not saying that easier stuff isnt alright… of course it is. Many people play the game casually, many people love to gang up on champs, many people love to run in an army of their kin and these players deserve as much attention as anybody else…but a-net shouldnt forget about the ones that want to be punished if they kitten up, about the ones that want to be one shot killed at a wrong move, the ones who want to drag themselfes covered with bruises and cuts with one arm towards the final loot chest.

Thats atleast my opinion on this.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Basaltface.2786

If you’re considering how the GW2 Team can best hear your input about the game — such as what you’d like to see in the future, how things are working now, etc. — I personally don’t think a survey is necessary. Honestly and truly: These forums are a huge and very effective medium for communication. They are read daily by members of the team — probably more people than you think! — and the forums, as a whole, give us a much better view of what’s important to Guild Wars 2 players than most surveys would do.

But if it’s true that the devs are listening, and I’m not saying that they aren’t, then how did we wind up with the spring trait changes or the fall NPE changes? Are you saying that they heard what we were saying, and then decided to do the exact opposite of anything we’d want? I have slightly more faith in them than that. So it stands to reason that if they even entertained the idea that the NPE would be well received, then there must be some sort of breakdown in communication someplace, someone not asking the right questions, and we’d just like to get that solved before they start getting do deep into the next catastropatch.

To me it feels sometimes like the communication between a-net members who read the forums and those who make the stuff happen is like a game of whisper down the lane.

Keeping them as lucky charms and always have them with me, far down in the corner of my inventory…and even if im fully aware its a bad move i always use the old pistol as off hand weapon for the few times i use pistols to battle rather then a rifle.

Generic Armor Skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Basaltface.2786

Basaltface.2786

Imo class specific designs are lacking a lot. Doesnt even need to go out of the weight class zone. Just make some armors with bones, gears, scrolls, potions or what not on them and put them into the gem store…or game itself. Ya know.. armors with a certain flavour to it sorta like the magitech armor..thats a good start. Obviosly meant for engineers in design but also liked by rangers and thiefes. Why? Cause it got personality. Just do that to more armors.

Put out a complete grenth armor like this here:

http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080405071129/gw_/images/a/a6/Avatar_of_Grenth_concept_art.jpg

And make the green parts dyeable for example. People who like the design will use the armor, dye the “magic” how they want or mix it with other armors and got a kitten light armor with personality. To try to appeal to all classes within the armor weight class is not a good approach. It limits your possible designs what makes many armors extremely generic, so much that they actually blend together. Im not saying there arent obviosly for a class designed armors in game and obtainable via random drops or something.. but these are too rare (or not obtainable at all like the tribal set that reeks of necro) Imo a-net should just step out of the comfort zone and release armor sets that reek of certain classes, nothing would go to waste and people WILL use these skins, specially if they are well made.. what shouldnt be a deal. Some will cause it fits the class and others will cause they just like how it looks.. or both. And if an ele wears a skull mask or a thief looks like he escaped a steampunk convention (or the movie tron for that matter) or a ranger looks like an assassin covered with knive holsters its fine and its fun

Dont get me wrong.. i enjoyed the flamer but now that this darn thing finally hits like a truck i cant get into it anymore XD

That was kind of my story. Mostly lost all interest in the FT/EG combo back in that time when the destroyed kit refinement. I loved the AoE damage/condi clear of flame blast on the FT, and the AoE condition clear/heal of EGs super elixir when swapping to it. the support of the FT/EG comb back then was great.

in my case its not the lost interrest, im just so used to running all about and jumping and rolling and what not all over the enemie and dropping bombs like a kid on a sugar rush, at the flamer you gotta stay somewhat still to aim the thing proper XD

Well to be fair the op prolly feels like many people these days. Commander tags are used now more as vanity items then for what they where intended for. I (seriosly) see a lot of chars that are tagged up and even coloured like the tag´s colour just doing solo stuff or countless tags at the world boss runs that do nothing but cover the minimap with useless information and also cover up stuff like gathering nodes, poi and pretty much everything else you MIGHT want to see. Also in wvw (especially EOTM) you could make a drinking game of how many people ask who the “real” commander is… but then again you would be dead in 15 mins. As a player you cant do much against it, to ask to tag down falls on deaf ears, raging doesnt fix it either (obviosly). I myself own a tag since a while, a bit before the first feature patch and while im not really sure why i own it (i suck at commanding) but i do admit tags do got their use outside of WVW for sure.. like if you find something and tag up to give other players on the map the location, specially helpfull if you run across a bounty or chest or something valuable… but a tag is a tag.. and NOT a darn vanity item. Many people think that way, people want to see their map.. and not an easter basket and to join a squard still got one useless tag on your map. The op´s idea is a bit..extreme but i guess he would settle (like many others) on an option to blend the tag out completely via the options menu or a chat command or something. Though.. that potato sack outfit would be for sure funny to look at aswell XD

The bottom line is spot on.

Also the LS characters are pedantic and one-dimensional which is why they are not relatable and why they are so forgettable. Really the only event in the more recent LS that was good was when your character fights the dragon in the Grove, alone. That was good and finally put the hero in the spotlight rather than forcing you, the player, to be a bit player rather than the star of the show.

And even the fight was something rather fresh. Specially the attacks of the dragon that came from rather unusual angles(for a gw2 boss), his mobs used everything and your granny with conditions and attacks…almost like…i dont even dare to say it… but…a challenging fight? Well to be fair it wasnt THAT challenging but didnt it feel like…hmm.. lets say a “lvl 5 boss” in a game? Thats the route most battles should go…just amp up the difficulty , more damage to be less forgiving and you got yourself a solid base to work with. I might be already dulled down…but it actually had for a moment the “omigosh!” feeling i had back then as i started the game (with not much MMO experience).

Yea.. bit off topic… i know i know

Yet another area where GW1 did it better. Instead of dividing professions into light, medium and heavy, each profession had unique armour sets. The GW2 system doesn’t allow for such nuances.

Interestingly, the latest TP patch showed classification of armour by class
instead of just Heavy, Medium, Light.

Could this mean that there WILL be class specific armours down the line? Maybe?

i doubt it, would probably take way too much ressources to change something thats not really broken, just lacks in many designs the distinct look of a class. Also it would restrict the customisation of a chars look too much. But then again i know nothing bout what a-net brews together in their lair XD

It shouldnt be a deal at all IMO. I mean you got light, medium and heavy.. all you really need to do is to release more class specific designs within that weight classes. Ya know.. some more ninja or assassin like stuff with knives, concealing masks and hoods and what not for thiefs, maybe(tastes differ obviosly) some more nature and rustical themed outfits for rangers with bone or fur trophies, extra quivers on the hips or whatever and outfits with technological parts, potions, pouches or utility belts with monocles, goggles, gas masks (or all at once as full headgear) for engineers and then do the same for the other 2 weight classes. Maybe more “bulky” and heavy looking armors that look like a fortress just grew legs for guards and more berserker\barbarian \gladiator like stuff for wars or something, ya know.. heavy but not too restricting.
Then some more necromancer related stuff like reaper robes with..dunno bones on it or tomes or what not, more “traditional” and noble mage clothes that look like a crossover of coat and robe for eles and some more jester like or nobleman related armors for mesmers with more “weirdo” detailing like faces or masks all over it and done. Though.. light armor got a good selection of themes and looks to go, heavy COULD be better..but you can work pretty good with whats there, medium got the shaft sadly. Who knows.. maybe the next armors that they release got a (true) class specific theme in design, nothing is off the table yet (i hope XD)

Heh obviosly, i mean seriosly.. do you expect something else by this point? A huge percentage of chars in mmos are female so they get obviosly extra care in armor designs to ensure those who play em got something pretty to look at too. @ Oxidia: Its simple.. cause its skimpy and many ppl like that. I personally prefer more of an armor look that looks like it could protect you from attacks.

well i tried it.. and it felt like i played a char that was unable to breath and walk at the same time, with 1 arm, too stupid to activate things, too stupid to understand skill challenges, too stupid to even use the class mechanic… but hey i was immortal while fighting a huge possessed statue… well fighting.. i didnt do anything but watch but i clearly helped rytlock brimstone… i moved out of the way and let the big shots handle it -_-

I made a charr warrior.. just to test and technically a derbface like this would be killed off in the legions or left behind to die. Yea.. look at me.. the amazing warrior that wants to raise up to a centurio yet is unable to tie his kittening shoelaces…or even dye his armor blood red to fit into his legion… but yay i got a pat on the head all few levels cause i was a good boy and magically could swing my sword a different way.

I mean seriosly.. what the kitten

Guys, I have trouble seeing which attunement elementalists are in; their elemental wristbands are too hard to see. I think Anet needs to add a large backpack to elementalists which showcases what element they are attuned to. They can remove the buff icon, then.

:D

Maybe I should suggest this on the profession balance forum.

yea…or to give us kittening bloody attument like icons and have it done with.. man re-use the kit icons and kittening done…ugh

Add Infantile Mode to the game please

I saw a world. Terrible world with Vistas, PoI and skill points available from 1lvl. With enormous wardrobe system, and insanely complicated TP. With so many skills that I cant handle it!

I totally agree with devs that game is too hard so we have to make it easier for new players! But they forgot about one important thing. How new players can play the game when they dont know how to open it!

But dont be scared I can help you. Just watch my tutorial about GW2 and enjoy the game.

duuuuuude… you are MLG. I really hope you find sponsorship soon cause deam.. guys look how he moves his mouse to the icon and clicks it. Mind blown, man id hate to face you in pvp… Well back to thinking about breathing im getting blue already

[Suggestion] Guild Wars 2 Test Server !!

Yea.. a puplic testing server would make it a LOT easier to balance the game, try out new features AND dont kitten people off. And to make certain that people actually test that stuff out give them some extra loot drops from whatever they test AFTER a survey that pops up if you are done. You could right away use the dialogue system for that like:

“So dude how did you like the (insert name here) feature? 1: not good, 5: good”

Answers would be then 1,2,3,4,5 and done

This way you would have a general idea if ppl like it or not… the details of what needs improvement or is alright how it is can be discussed in the forums and its easier to discuss with people who are not kittened off beyond belief cause stuff goes completely into a direction the (mayority of) people dont want or like at all. I know how it feels.. i needed to REALLY keep myself together yesterday to not comprise my posts of the word “kitten” repeated 100 times…

plz dont post negative thread anymore

the thing is op.. people complain not only cause they pay money for a service.. they also do cause they like the game and dont want to see it go down the gutter. I LOVE this game and to see it destroyed just breaks my heart.

I am ruining shields?? I feel so sad now.

;p

yea its all your fault. Patch yourself right this instant.

But yea.. jokes aside, dont expect any aegis fixes, we engies want a backpack fix since ages and we dont get it either. Things like this are on the “we dont give a kitten” list in the development department

Can we have some more sets that cover more styles then “uhh shiny magic”? Tyria also got inhabitants that embrace technology and inhabitants that like more “natural” designs that arent drowned in effects…just sayin
