i have my asura necro and its rocking the traditional necro look. but ive alwasy wanted the t3 helm. now i can final afford it im not sure how i feel about looking all my hair, i want to see your screenshots of your characters with the helm an your opinion

It’s tough. I like the hair on my Asura. I also love the style of the helm.

I think at night the helm looks better, while during the day hair is better.

Honestly, they need to let you have hair with it. Oh well. Hope my screenshots help you decide.

Of topic, but do you have tier 3 shoulders? Cus when previewing them they’re invisible on me.

My favorite medium set is the Mistwalker armor (in pve you get it from WvW vendors). Unfortunately that is the only medium armor set I really like in this game :/

There is a 1v1 server you know…

Why would some1 go out of their way to look for solo roamers and have like 2 good 1v1’s an hour when there is a server made for this purpose. Not to mention it actually being balanced around smallscale fights, stealth and hp scaling says hello /facepalm

Quite ironic the MMO community. They want progression and something to work towards to, but at the same time they all want it from the get go.

It’s amazing Anet even does anything for WvW’rs considering how toxic the WvW community is.

Personally love the update.

A-net has ignored the community and therefore made it toxic with their own choice to do nothing to boost WvW morale, or even reward WvW players. Seriously we have 2 alternate maps for WvW its a joke, each BL is a mirror image of the other for ‘balance’. When you take a good hard look at the PVE content and the PVP content its a small wonder this game even has a PVP community anymore, all A-net seems to want to do is alienate and further toxify.

What a load of bs. Spvp was in the same boat and in an even worse shape. However they set up interviews of what should change and actively tried to make the game better by now organizing tournamanets and what not on their own.

WvW community is hilarious just take a look at all the matchup threads it’s beyond pathetic.

A start screen with all the professions aswell as their most used builds (small adjustments can ofc be made) that switches between the teams so counter picks can be made.

I am surprised the amount of hate Deso is getting, have all the people who posted here been akitten from EB prime time the past two days?

The forum pattern is so easy: SFR is the most skillful-server in EU, if they win it’s a skillful match. If they loose with all their skill it must be blobbing, PvD, ACs in the field, running, ….

And if Elona loose it must be due to a 2v1.

Both are good classes.

With mesmer you’re more then likely going to be forced into 20/20/0/0/30 or a variation of it. However you do have most utility of any class.

Engineer you have slightly more options: soldier’s cc build (meh), bomb build or hgh.

It’s silly picking which class has more options or is more viable though. If you enjoy necro just go for it, they don’t need that much changes to become viable.

Well personally I think they made the wrong split at release.

I’d be happier if WvW and Spvp shared the same progression (instantly lvl 80, cosmetic changes only) seperated from Pve.

Retaliation damage = 198.45 + (0.075 * Power) PvE

66% of this in PvP / WvW

Do you still not get that the problem isn’t the actual damage.

It is that certain skills – not necessarily hard hitting skills – take way more damage due to doing a lot of hits. Damage that could never have been intented.

Talking to brick walls here. Have fun with the melee train meta only countered by a barely played necro, cya.

The circle is more like Guardian rolls Ranger, Ranger rolls Necro, Necro rolls Guardian. Way to not understand. Grd is a boon job, necro can destroy those and melt the grd, necro is pretty weak if you just kite it and range it down, like any half decent rng could do, but rng doesnt do enough damage to get through the grds boons and dies to its low damage output and retaliation. Get it now? This is how the game is balanced.

Retal is still hitting alot too hard in zerg vs zerg.
Easy solution. 1 sec ICD or at least make it 0.5 sec ICD so that you cant kill yourself in 5 sec.
For me the solution to this problem: don’t ever use longbow any more. I won’t get many badges that way as other classes do but at least I survive. I rather go melee – I will survive it easier than staying at 1500 range using barrage.

This has to be changed. Really.

Easy solution – learn mechanics of game and stop QQ’ing about some of the most easily avoided damage in the game. It’s the only enemy boon you can control.

Similarly confusion is the only enemy condition you can control.

There’s a common theme here. Both things require you to be bad to lose.

very much agree with this. i got killed by retaliation maybe 3 or 4 times and i have played my mesmer for over 1700 hours. a glamour mesmer by him self is not op at what people cried about was when multiple glams attacked together, but hey if u put 10 necros into hills lordsroom, everyone that enters is dead, 10 thiefs can if coordinated wipe a group bigger than them, 10 hammerwarriors bybye hp and hello death, 10 guardians same thing, 10 eles very quick death too.
the thing about confusion and retaliation is a l2 kitten ue.

Cus as a mesmer you don’t suffer from retal at all. Your only multiple attack hit (blurred frency) makes you completely invulnerable from all dmg even retal (in contrast to thieves pistol whip for example) not to mention shatters remove boons etc. But yeah, it’s obviously a l2p problem… gosh people on this forum.

The point is not that the guardian retaliates the dmg. It’s the entire zerg because not only the guardians have retal on them but almost everyone if a good zerg buffs each other.
You are always talking about us dealing 1k-2k and getting back 370 damage.
My ranger is bunker. So I dish out an average of lets say 2k per person and get back 15k damage. That doesnt seem fair at all.
My hits deal only around 300-400 damage per shot – 600-700 crit which is only every 5th hit (bunker) and I get back 370 per hit.
And my damage is divided on the zerg which means I won’t really hurt anyone but I die of one use of the skill.

The problem are the many small hits that retal alot more dmg than you actually do to single persons in the zerg.
Same thing for flamethrower. It does small damage and retals alot more damage than he does.
That is the main problem.
And an ICD of let’s say 0.5 sec does not harm the guardian in 1v1 at all. The thing it would change is zerg vs zerg. And that is what is needed for the classes that deal lots of small damage numbers and getting hurt for lot (300-400 per).

A flamethrower does small damage ? really ?

If you receive 15k in retaliation damage and say ~300 retaliation damage per hit.
This means you hit 50 times !

Be aware during a fight.

Amount of hits =/= amount of damage.

Retaliation and confusion make me lol. They are easy to avoid and now with the nerf, they don’t pose any issue.

If you burst Guardians with 3 attack totaling to 8-10k, you will only receive 1,000 damage maximum.

And that is exactly where you are wrong. A thief stealing, backstabbing and heartseakering (made up vocabulary ftw) you for 10K dmg will take 3×300ish retal dmg.

A condition engineer using flametrower will do 10×100ish dmg for 1K total dmg (+ burning woohoo) whereas he will take 10×300ish dmg from retal.

These numbers are just out of the top of my head and may be wrong, but you get the gist.

Honestly if WvW’rs think that this is diversity and balance then… well I’m lost for words really.

How foolish of me. I forgot that only skilled people play on whatever server you are on. I will ask everyone on my tier to PM you for tips.

Not hard to figure out how it is possible to do so considering the GvG meta is 50% guardians (and 0% engineers and rangers btw).

Sad to see , but think most players now have realized that spvp and WvW is gradually dying out in this game.

Spvp is more alive than ever before. WvW is only dying in tier 1, because some guilds decided to take a break in the hope of dropping to tier 2 which is now taking too long to happen and they kinda dug their own grave.

In GvG what you need as a condition class is aoe and survivability both of which would in theory work with the grenade kit.

In my opinion engineers (and rangers) are simply useless in WvW. Organized WvW that is, not standing on top of a wall trowing grenades.

It looks like you are one of those people that can’t separate your failing to be effective with a profession and the profession itself failing.

Oh please, I do just fine in zergs. The thing is I don’t think an engineer brings anything that another class wouldn’t do better. Luckily in zergs this doesn’t matter, because well the more the merrier. However in things like GvG when you want your group of 20ish people to be as effective as possible I can honestly say I wouldn’t bring an engineer.

Any chance of ever getting it back? Aoe pulls are incredibly strong I agree, but the mesmer pull is still here after all those months. Can’t we atleast get our flamethrower pull back, perhaps increase the cooldown or something if you considered it too strong.

edit: i forgot to say that i’ve never had any big issues with retal. i can understand that if you take 2-3k dmg with a bunch of granade shots, that’s quite a bit, but it also shows the full potential of the aoe this build has. since you’ll have problems with retal mainly when throwing at massed up enemies, you’ll clearly be quite far away in these situations and can simply stop to heal as soon as you notice you’re losing too much HP. When the zerg starts fighting, you’ll be noticing less and less people with retaliation due to no lightfield combos. and even then you’ll be able to just switch to bombs or toolkit.

The issue is that before you notice that you’re taking retal you usually have 3 other grenades flying over. So the only thing left to do is run to an ally and say that you’re about to need a ress, because the mighty 300’s are about to kill you :P

Fix? Retaliation is a pretty good defense against burst specs. Saved my bacon against thieves and shatter mesmers several times. So if they “nerf” retaliation, they better nerf burst specs too.

I don’t understand how putting a cap on retal would change anything in small skirmishes… All it would mean is that you don’t have 600 300’s ticking every nanosecond when you trow a grenade into a zerg.

In WvW our best kit (grenade kit) as well as flametrower are completely useless with the amount of retal dmg you take.

Trowing a grenade barrage into a zerg instantly kills me. Surely this can’t be intented? I know there’s barely any engineers left a part from HGH engi’s in spvp, so maybe you weren’t aware of this issue.

Something has to happen about this though.

I’m not going to argue with you about who’s the #1 mesmer, But Phantixxx being good has nothing to do with RG especially since you just bunched up good players from all servers. Phantixxx was good before he joined RG, I ran with him a bit when he was in IRON and there’s no doubt he’s very very decent, But again it has nothing to do with RG.

And what team is he from then?

Elementalists are definitely one of the hardest classes to play.

Most people that say otherwise are those that take 2-3 cantrips and go 20-30 in water. Ofcourse it’s easy when playing like that having an insane amount of “oh crap” buttons to get back to full health.

However try playing somethign else. Maybe try a glass canon with just mist form as your only cantrip and you’ll think twice for saying that Ele is easy to play. Because not having updraft of cooldown when that glass canon jumps on you, you’ll just be left with mistform as your only option on a very high cd, so you better not make the same mistake twice.

Desolation has been full since the 1st beta weekends and that for the sole reason of being the first unofficial English speaking server as well as the unofficial Spvp server.

How that has anything to do with WvW presence idk.
