What? Even this is mainstream? And I was thinking that they sent me to help The Vigil because I had chosen The Vigil.. Who did these late missions in the Personal Story? What a lack of inspiration..

Anyway.. that happens because you made a choice back when you talked to The Pale Tree.

I am not asking to make the tutorials bleed the new players to death, neither should they feel like if nothing happened at all. They die too fast even with a small group of people. The plot leads you into facing this big menacing Earth Elemental/Ice Wurm/Golem/Dragon/Ghost, yet the whole fight feels as if you squashed a bug under your boot. Not hard, neither easy, but moderately challenging.

@Udolpho:
As it is right now, new players don’t even know what happened as the boss dies in a split second(this may be exaggerated, but you get the idea). I made myself a new Charr(because they’re awesome!), all good there spent a bit killing ghosts to unlock my skills(not wanting to go “auto attacking” the boss, he is a boss after all). But when I got down to help Rytlock, it was like: cut-scene of Duke Barradin possessing that big statue; 5 seconds of combat; cut-scene of Duke Barradin being exorcized. And then Rytlock said: “Good job boys and girls, you are all heroes now!”. Same goes for the rest:

[-]Human area; “All praise the Hero of Shaemoor!”. For what? I barely did anything, that elemental pretty much destroyed himself.
[-]Norn area; “Hail The Slayer of Issormir!” Really? I thought that big worm choked to death or something.
[-]Asura area; Well I can’t find a proper cheer here. But that golem pretty much had a factory flaw and he blew up.
[-]Sylvari area; “Oh thank you, fearless Valiant! You banished the evil from The Dream” I actually believe the plant looking dragon was out of his element and dried off. But this area was the most decent of them all.

As the title implies, they are too easy. Let’s say you get there alone, it will take you about 25-30 seconds to kill it, 1 minute if you’re multitasking. Add a few players to the equation and they become even less of a challenge, personal best so far: 5 seconds with 5 players. I don’t say that they should take 1 hour or more. Around 4-5 minutes should be just fine.

=D This mission is challenging but not impossible. I have done it with a warrior, all I had to do is time the dodging right and get to him. He vanishes when you get close and goes back in the middle. I died a couple of times too before noticing what was going on, but after it was just a matter of time. Only that for me the “first” try bugged and Eye and The Veggie started pew-pew’ing one another forever.

Anyone disappointed with the begging Charr storyline?

Also I would like to mention that I never got a “Congratulations! You have been promoted to Centurion. Now go bash some more skulls!”.

In the Personal Story tab(pressing H) I can read: “Rytlock called me in to promote me to Centurion…]”. When did that happen? He just called me that out of the blue.

Do you play an Asura? I Had this happening to me last night when I created a Asura and part of the dialogue was muted, also it’s not like if only the sound is muted the, NPC talking just remains there performing the idle animation.

Order Choice Limited?

Beyreva.8769

No that’s how it actually works. You get a set of challenges to get to try out the orders before deciding which to join, and for these you can only help two of the three orders. Don’t worry, when you will be prompted with choosing one, you will get all three options, regardless of what paths you had chosen before.

Disappointed about lack of story variabilty

The Personal Story branches only in the first 20 or so levels, well a bit more as even the ones involving your first contact with the orders are unique to each race, well I guess until you meet that vegetable. But after that it’s all mainstream, your character loses his identity, as if it gets possessed.

I first joined the Vigil and when that moment came, when Forgal sacrifices himself to hold off the undead to make possible your escape, it sounded plausible, being a fierce Norn warrior. But then I see that every order has its martyr. It was OK for the Vigil(brute force), but not for the other two orders.

No, the Jotun Giant King it’s the same, regardless of what spirit you had chosen in character creation. You get to choose from getting Wolf’s blessing or help that blacksmith forge a very powerful weapon. This story only happens if you choose “Strength” when asked “The most important quality of a great hero is…”.

One thing I noticed is the from all the shrines in the starting area, Only Bear has dialogue. At first I thought that it was because I had chosen Bear, but after deleting that character due to personal issues and making another(picking Snow Leopard), I noticed that this wasn’t the case.
Only that shrine has dialogue. I would be a nice touch if only the shrine for the Spirit you chose had dialogue for you.
Also I would like to point that the Raven Shaman is missing from the stairs when you climb up to fight Issormir. Wolf, Snow Leopard and Bear are there to give you their blessings but Raven is nowhere to be found.

I have my doubts if she’s a Norn, see look small, almost human-like by the Kodan’s side. Also I get her gesture with the hand as trying to grasp something that she doesn’t want to let go of, as if she is separated from someone, that kind of feeling.

From all the loading screens I have seen so far this is the most beautiful, as it managed to capture emotions as well, not just scenery.

As the title said, I would like to know what’s the story behind it.

In the picture it appears to be a Kodan(I don’t know the gender, but until further clarification, it’s a male) and a human female(it can’t be a Norn as it’s just too small).
Although his hammer is in a menacing posture, it suggests that he’s holding her back from running towards something/someone that fades away(flying?) in the distance(towards the sunset or some kind of explosion/eruption).
Trying perhaps to save her file, not allowing to act reckless, as her gestures point that she is very sad about what’s happening, hence the arm trying to reach out.

Thank you.

I can confirm this, and it’s not because I don’t have the adequate level for that specific zone, neither do players swarm around the place. The most annoying place I found so far:

In Malchor’s Leap, at the Altar of Lies, even if we(the players) secure the area, kill the Risen Priestess of Lyssa, risen forces continue to spawn there, especially catapults. And they get mixed up with the friendly NPCs, including the karma vendor, from who you can’t buy anything because those blasted catapults keep firing at you. If you run away so that you won’t get hit by them, you’ll get overwhelmed by veteran risen who happen to be there at 2 feet away from the vendor. Oh and the catapults re-spawn like 30 sec later, say you manage to destroy one, by the time you get to the next, the one you destroyed will be firing at you!
