It seems all I do nowadays is take silly screenshots and add captions to them…
… I’m okay with that.
Anyway, interesting thread; here’s a joke one and a serious one.
Hyperbole is the absolute worst thing in the universe.
I found this thread a while ago and made a promise to myself to sort through my old screenshots. I thought a few were pretty good…

Outfits? F dat S.
… Unless it’s Countess Anise’s outfit. That’s the only Outfit I would ever actually buy with real money, especially if the male version is the exact same as the female version. C’mon ArenaNet, let my male characters dress in drag.

Looks very obviously like a staff. Besides Spears on land/polearms are already confirmed not happening.
This.
To further drive home the point, there are already quite a few Staves that look like Spears/Polearms/melee weapons:
- Aureate Staff
- Beaded Warstaff
- Dredge Pillar
- Final Rest (obviously)
- Guild Pillar
- Kodan Staff
- Krait Crook
There are more, but I think that’s enough.

The phrase “…unlock access to a weapon previously unavailable to your profession…” is on the info page, so it sounds like it’s a ONE and ONLY ONE sort of deal. With that in mind, I don’t think Mesmer will be getting a new Main Hand weapon along with their Shield.

I’m almost certain this event is tied with the game’s day/night cycle, so you have to wait until sunset/the beginning of night before it’ll trigger.

Ahh, scrap all that, let’s just implement the suggestion and see what happens for 6 months! That should provide some real feedback on this case, instead of head scratching and arguing with each other.
Honestly, I’d kinda like to see this sort of thing being adopted by ArenaNet for a short time. Every month for 6 months they just toss a wrench in every profession’s variables and see what chaos unfolds…
Discussion and debate is all well and good, but I think it’d be hilarious to just take the “throw stuff at a wall and see what sticks” approach for a bit.

My necromancer armor
That… is quite cool. The only thing I don’t like is Meteorlogicus.
Anyway, finished ‘shopping my last 4 characters’ screenshots together. I’m hoping there’ll be some new choices for my Ranger, Elementalist, and Warrior in Heart of Thorns. They’re my only characters that wear 5/6 or 6/6 matched sets.
Linking my previous post here, so I can find it easier.

Questions I want answered:
[snipped a little]
- Can we expect Living Story Season 1 to be added for play in the story journal just like Season 2, with the drop of the expansion?
- We gonna get at least a new character slot with the expac to make a Revanant with? :P
I’d like to know this as well, particularly the first point. Someone else asked about Ascended Jewelcrafting and Cooking, and I would really like to know about that too. Anyway, a few more:
- Is the Revenant going to have a Specialization as well? (I’m assuming it will; it would be strange if it didn’t.)
- Will additional Specializations for any/every profession be added in future patches/feature packs, or are they reserved only for expansions?
- Will Masteries be comparable to Agony Resistance in that a certain minimum level is necessary to complete some content, or will they just make said content more forgiving? (Basically I want to know where the line will be between my skill as a player vs. a stat telling me how ‘skilled’ I am.)
- Will Commanders get any new/updated features?
- Will any aspect of the Guild Hall system be tied to Gems? For that matter, what features will be tied to Gems in any capacity?

void OnHoTRelease () {
if (specializationCountPerProfession > 1) {
for (int i = 0; i < myCharacters.Length; i++) {
for (int j = 0; j < specializationCountPerProfession; j++) {
TrySpecialization(myCharacters[i], specialization[myCharacters[i].profession, j]); }}}
else {
Character newChar = CreateNewCharacter(“Sylvari”, “Male”, “Revenant”);
RunAroundCity(newChar, “Divinity’s Reach”); }
}
Yep… that seems about right.
Edit:
Just found out there’s only 1 specialization per profession on release.
RevenantCount++, see you in Divinity’s Reach.

I don’t know quite how I feel/would feel, which is why I have a folder of images just for such occasions. They both seem applicable, though slightly contradictory.
I’m not sure how the rest of the ‘community’ would react but I assume it’d involve a lot of whining.

OR just implement a forced-respawn timer for certain events that is inversely proportional to the player population at the event. If most of the map is at said event, the timer is really short (say 15-30 seconds) while if only a few players are participating, the timer is longer (2 minutes sounds reasonable, but it could go up to 5 like in WvW). Once the timer hits 0, the player automatically respawns at the nearest waypoint.
Alternately, the timer could be based on the number of other nearby dead players. The more people that are dead, the shorter the timer.

Account Binding Reagent
Converts a piece of Soulbound gear to Account Bound.
35 Gems | 5 for 125 | 25 for 600
Everyone wins? I mean that’s still ~5g to convert a single piece so it’s more expensive than outright buying a new piece of gear (sans upgrades). But hey… Upgrade Extractors are still in the store so maybe this hypothetical item would/should cost more.

It seems to me that wearing an entire matched set of armor is the exception rather than the rule. The only sets I usually see worn in their entirety are the Ascended sets (particularly Heavy), CoE (Medium or Heavy), and now the Carapace/Luminescent sets.
Regardless, I got bored and composited the sets I wear most often on my characters. I think the mods frown on attaching 8 images though so… I just picked my mains. Didn’t bother listing Dyes; if anyone actually cares, I’ll type them out.

shoulders seem familiar…
I was just about to point this out, except they remind me of an even older set. That said, I like the look but not the price tag. Passing as usual.

I had a similar desire when I first rolled my thief and ended up going for the NCR ranger armor (posted earlier). You could certainly get some more interesting combinations with the new Gas Mask and some Magitech pieces, but I made this set before any of that was released.
Head – SE (Ebony/Charcoal + Olive Shade)
Shoulders – SE (Ebony/Charcoal + Shale + Olive Shade)
Chest – Orr Karma – Mortal Coat (Olive Shade + Natural + Shale + Malt)
Hands – Duelist/80 Exotic (Ebony + Taupe)
Legs – Rascal (Mohair + Taupe)
Feet – Pirate (Ebony + Taupe + Malt)

Been wondering about this for awhile too and found out how to turn it off, though it never bothered me personally.
Options > Graphics > Animation > Low (Has to be Low, Medium or High both make it visible again)
Not ideal, but it works.

My Mesmer, Umi, doesn’t do ‘cute.’ It’s not… in her repertoire.
Biwwi, on the other hand…

Well, that makes five now, haha. I love my Charr Elementalist. She’s my main.
I’ve seen one or two others running around on NSP, but we’re really not all that common.
And BladeRain, it would seem we share a taste in style, haha.
Haha oh wow, that’s amazing! Even our shoulders match and the dyes are pretty similar!
I also skimmed the character screenshot thread and found this pretty face.
Great minds think alike when it comes to awesome female Charr Elementalists! Mine doesn’t know quite what to make of such a coincidence…

First post on the forums, and happy to oblige. Agreed, they are a rare combination. I don’t see many Charr Elementalists in general, and all the ones I remember were male.
