Well thanks to the patch, it makes this build a little more viable then before. I definitely was having a blast last night =).

Altruistic Healing is definitely maybe an oxymoron, which is typically odd that Anet would name the trait as such. Maybe, they thought it would have a quiet presence.

It is also naturally strange that this isn’t the first thread on this subject. It is probably now the least favorite of guardians and no longer an open secret.

for number 2: I prefer the Shaman set because I will be attacking and i would do more damage with the burning than I could with physical damage.

I was wondering if you have the math on this. Our coefficients are pretty high so its pretty hard to find cases were burning will outdo physical damage.

it might be worth a shot since it seems it might open up for competitive one hand builds and some trait distribution that are more or less gimmicks (even though they are fun) atm.

Was actually thinking of using boon duraton runes (water+monk) with a might stacking build. I havent gotten a might stacking build to work properly (being competitive) in wvw so far and these runes might open up for that. With 35% boon duration you would have 12 stacks of might with in 10s from the start of the clash. Add in 3 from VoJ and about three more from EM. We are talking about 18 stacks within a very short time frame.

Might even be worth a shot to just play scepter and have focus/torch and no secondary MH. There was a guy that played only with one 1h sword during beta and did one hell of a might stacking setup in tpvp.. Scepter and 1h sword both have short cd on main skills so they are more suited for this than our other weapons.

Personally i have 100% uptime on fury in my group but in this case i was thinking more of citadels and shouts. With 119% crit damage this looks really interesting.

Mace builds looks really interesting also. Grabbing stength in numbers and mace of justice in valor and suddenly you have over 1k heal dodges with mace.
Add in superior aria and EM from honor, inspired virtue from virtues and we have a serious supportbuild with plenty of fire power.
0/25/20/20/5 and ofc with might stacking sigils. Or 10/0/10/25/25 maybe. I think this armor opens up a lot of interesting possibilities.

@the ones using celestials trinkets only
Just a reminder, celestial trinkets alone wont add anything, just saying, sure in raw stats they do but as it stands now all stats arent worth equally. Any build you can produce with celestials trinkets can be bettered by mixing gear types.

The only reason why im interested is when we start stacking celestial armor and that we then might be able to produce stats that cant be replicated by mixing gear and this would allow us to create builds that isnt competitive atm.

Well, I started to record my gameplay to find and correct the mistakes I constantly make. After seeing other players creating great videos out there, I wanted to give a crack at it. So, I made my first one and wanted to share it with you guys. It features a variant of Christos’ Healway Build.

Because Anet does not give us meaningful nerfs, continue to slowly fix our bugs, and gives us nice little buffs here and there.

I’m not sure if that can be said for any of the other professions out there. GW2 life has been pretty dramatic for them.

As far as using sword #3, and I do not like to say this often, is a L2P issue. You use it paired with an immobilize, ring of warding or just when the enemy is straight up in your face, not when chasing or trying to hit someone at mac range.

The more number crunching I do, I’m convinced that the gear isn’t worth it.

Like GSSBlunaspike says, it really starts to dig into your burst for a burst build. And if you are going for a little more defense switching out some lesser pieces with soldier’s will win out.

For Support builds or hybrid builds. Maybe… but I haven’t gotten there yet.

And for the condition damage to be worth it, I feel we really need to build/trait for burning which generally makes a build weaker if you go that route.

10/30/30 or 20/30/20 are good support options.

For WWW gearing: I’d do all Cleric’s and if you need some more vit then you can change out shoulders, boots, or gloves for soldier’s. Carry a staff, mace/shield, and hammer if you are in a group: support guardians tend to switch between staff/hammer or staff/mace,shield. I use GS, sword/focus if I’m solo roaming/duo’n.

For PvE: Have a scepter handy. Some dungeon fights its worth using. Full zerker is fine (i do it), just be careful with PUGs.

Runes: Boon duration, Altruism, or Soldier’s are good choices.

This is definitely a very strong and fun build. I look forward to the new videos =).

I run 0/20/30/20 because I really like strength in numbers. I also run it with soldier runes and use soldier’s shoulder/gloves/boots. The extra hp gives me a little more staying power when I’m trying to revive someone or get a stomp. And I love the ridiculous condi cleanses. Its like giving condi builds the middle finger.

So worked on some more math…

The exotics have a better stat ratio then the ascended. Each exotic piece has a different one and pieces are better then others.

Gloves/Shoulders/Boots

The last two are arguable though, because the 2H has a lowest stat ratio to its non-celestial counter part but has the higher crit damage.

I’m still messing around with the gear in different builds. I’m trying to see if maybe some of these pieces can help burst builds a little more due to the higher crit damage on some pieces or even taking builds like a support and using the celestial exotics (or some of them) and using the ascended trinkets as your focus (IE all clerics).

Takes some pretty bad Guardians to stand it the field for that long.

But can 10 guardians fit in a null field? I mean with all our bulky armor and awesomeness we take up a lot of space.

WvWvW is the endgame and guardians are indispensable there for support. Some go for tanky dps tho but generally Guardians are wanted for support. Have you ever watched the Red Guard Farewell video that had Guardian PoV? Thats the textbook role of guards.

And for support you would want a staff, which you have. mace got buffed so mace and shield are good 2nd weapon set, which you also have. The weapon of choice next is hammer. Almost all support guards use staff and hammer. Hammer for the ring of warding, banish, and the one that causes immobilizes. Hammers are great too because they have Blast as finisher, which is indispensable for group buffs (+water = healing. +fire=might, etc etc)

So you already have staff. mace and shield. the next thing to get is hammer.

Before the release of this gear, If I wanted to build a hybrid/distributive stat type of gearing, mixing gears gave me better results then using celestial trinkets (I.E. a cleric’s peice here, a zerker’s piece here, a knights piece here….).

It might be different with this armor. I’ll have to math it to be sure.

From the eye test, the coat, legs, helm and weapon do grab my attention as something that could work into a build. It doesn’t follow the normal stat distribution of the other gear.

It’s like Anet is acknowledging that celestrial gear was not superior to other gear so they had to up the stat distribution for these new pieces.
