I apologise if I misplaced this thread…though for some reason I found it fitting with lore due to the fact it concerns two races which can be discussed nicely.
Tengu and Largos are (in my opinion) the two races which seem most fitting…
Skritt, Quaggans? I do understand that we know more of these races…but how could a silly Coo Coo Quaggan or “Shinnies” Skritt fight against the Dragons? When they can’t even defend themselves properly. I am excluding these two, because they are terribly silly. I know some people like them, but having them as a playable race would be more than silly…
Centaurs have some cool lore behind them, yes…and it would break the MMO standards…perhaps with Elona expansion?
Tengu and Largos are both humanoid races, meaning they’ll fit the models we currently have.
Besides…we do not know much about Largos, but they could have dwelt in the depths of the ocean for years, without any other race knowing about their existence. Now that DSD is causing a major threat to them, I find it logical for Largos to get out of their current lifestyle and join forces with other races. Having underwater city would be impressive…and customization options for them would be dazzling!
Asura used to live underground, no one knew about their existence until the Destroyers pushed them out…they had to fight for their survival, meaning they had to join other races to fight this threat.
As for Tengu…I don’t see why we could not play as a bird-like race…plus it would be lovely and rather unique.
(edited by Blur.3465)
Greetings,
like the title says…if we ever get to play Tengu and Largos…what would you like to see in their customization, which options, sweet details etc, as well as biography?
Personally I believe that these two are the best candidates for the next playable races.
Largos, they come from the depths of the ocean (meaning they are probably struggling against the DSD)…and they are completely ’’unknown’’ to us…yet the mention of ’’houses’’ and ’’hunt’’ is really intriguing…they seem very secretive and mysterious…
Tengu…they had their appearance in GW1 in Tyria and Cantha and they had very interesting lore…perhaps if we get Canthan expansion one day, they get added as a playable race?
Post your ideas!
1. Largos (They look amazing and their culture/lore could be very, very interesting and refreshing! Plus, underwater city, the secrets which we could finally see in the Sea of Sorrows! - I hope they will be the new playable race as we get to fight against the Deep Sea Dragon…plus the character creation for them could be amazing! Customizable wings, skin (scaly or with different patterns etc.))
2. Tengu (Love the birds and anything related to them…just imagine the customization for them! Plumage, crests, tails, bird heads…falcons, eagles, parrots, owls…)
3. Centaurs would be a very, very unique and interesting add which would break the MMO standards for sure.
@Blur, I like cloudy dark days : (, to me a rainy day is a good day compared to a sunny day being an awful day. I like the lanterns idea though! That reminds me of the weather, it is far too static for a living breathing world, an example of this would be to go over to Beetletun where it’s sunny and then head south to the Taminn Foothills where it’s raining with a dark overcast. Hence another reason why I love lotro’s environment!
Oh I didn’t say I don’t like cloudy days! In fact, this is the only type of weather when I am in normal and creative mood! Rainy, cloudy, cold and dark= <3
I just wanted to compare the current night we have in GW2…it looks more like a miserable (cloudy) day than proper night… :/
I also wish we had better weather in game…where entire area would become cloudy with rain etc…made a thread about that some time ago…
But darker nights would certainly give a better, more mysterious atmosphere. Let’s hope ANet consider this!
Darker nights all the way!
I hardly notice whether it’s day or night…
It looks almost like some miserable, cloudy day…rather than proper night-time…
Please consider this ANet, darker nights would add more depth and better atmosphere to the game! So many weapons that glow, Sylvari glow, town lights, lanterns, fire-flies! Just imagine Caledon Forest at night…or Divinity’s Reach! It would be sooooo great and atmospheric!
At least an option in graphics to tick it on/off.
Largos look totally awesome and wicked! I really hope they become a playable race!
Just imagine their main city somewhere deep in the water…in the abyss…with all the cool glowing fish, plants etc…
Amazing cultural armor sets for them…the customizable wings…just amazing!
Largos and Tengu are the two races I would really, really, really want to play as!
I agree with OP…it’s like someone is always ’’pushing’’ these players to ’’race’’ who’s going to get the best-looking gear and the impossible gear, whether it looks nice or not.
I like to play the game in a relaxed way…and I have noooo intentions to grind for gear.
I am very, very far from getting my legendary weapon and I do not mind it…I will get it when the time is right…it won’t run away from me…
Also in the beginning, when the game released…people raced to get to level 80…and then they found themselves bored… :S No wonder…
When I play the game, I like to stop and admire the work devs put into it…each area has some secrets, pieces of lore…hidden areas…
I’ve been playing since release…I have two level 80’s and I am still enjoying the game…
When I first started Guild Wars, Factions was my first campaign.
Please bring Cantha back, ANet! I miss the Jade Sea, the Echovald Forest, the amazing landscapes!
Can’t imagine how it might look like after 250 years!
Cantha and Elona, I badly, badly want to see these two continents again…it is all part of the lore…part of the history…I really crave to go there again.
I agree that there should be a solo/duo/trio option for dungeons or simply adding scaling…
“Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1”- From Manifesto video, yet we lost that ’’freedom’’ of doing dungeons the way we like.
I do understand this is an MMORPG, but GW2 is different compared to other MMORPG’s and thus we interact with players in the world in a different way…that doesn’t mean being anti-social…it gives quite different, yet good feeling. Forced grouping is what I dislike and I like doing things at my own pace and with one or two friends.
I am a great fan of dungeons, but forced grouping really puts me off…
And like Pip said in the post above, normally pugging turns out being bad…I really don’t need that ’’stress’’…I want to enjoy the game fully…
And to be honest, I really feel like exploring dungeons more, rather than speed-running through them because the team demands it…I also want to see the cinematics, admire the dedication devs put into the dungeon…
In GW1 I had this freedom, I had this feeling…I felt like adventuring and venturing into a dangerous, deep, dark dungeon…and it was very rewarding in the end and it gave me that epic feeling, especially when I do it on my own with just heroes.
And people, please…a little understanding here…
Just because we want to enjoy the dungeons at our own pace or with 1-3 friends, that doesn’t mean you have to ’’shoo’’ us to Skyrim or some other games.
I don’t see why would it hurt ANYONE if an option was added to dungeons for those who want to play this way? You can still group up with a team of 5 and enjoy the dungeons just like you are enjoying them now.
+1
Totally agreed, that will make weapons totally unique and matching for our characters’ style.
+1
I want it as well!
Imagine sitting by the lake…hearing crickets and simply fishing…completely relaxing!
I too am pro-mounts and wish to have some in game! Don’t scream at me, I just find them to give that more “Fantasy” feeling to the game…way more than waypoints and all the Asuran technologies, to be honest…
Waitaminute – the ability to ride a horse (something that you, personally, can do in reality) would be MORE fantastic than steampunk teleportation, dragons, shapeshifting, magical fireballs, hammers made of mercury, hordes of undead, a city built by gods, and sapient polar bears.
Really?
I believe that Pip was referring to technology (Asura gates) and waypoints, not dragons, polar bears and things you just stated.
Unfortunately the majority (and almost all) female characters from games are described this way and people will think that is ’’right’’ and that it is completely normal.
Some of them even have ‘’kitten-ish’’ behaviour…I am finding it more than sad.
I know it pleases the majority of people, especially men, but also women…
And don’t tell me it doesn’t affect the mentality, because it does. Soon it wouldn’t even surprise me if one breast could be visible, while the other could be covered with a piece of cloth…for it appears that the world is heading in that direction…allowing all the ‘’human rights’’. Some things need to have a limit.
Besides, looking at the music scene nowadays (pop) is really disgraceful. I went a little off topic here…but I felt like saying this.
Adding armor which reveals a bit of skin is completely OK…but adding something too skimpy, which reveals certain parts can be insulting and is insulting women. I have nothing against nice, elegant clothes which can reveal a bit of skin, even whole stomach, legs etc…but all with great taste and grace.
Even if I am a guy, I am still against skimpiness (skimpiness in extreme way).
There are too many and I mean TOO MANY MMORPG’s with totally revealing armor.
GW2 doesn’t have to be this way.
Nice, elegant, decent and not extreme armor which does not insult a gender can be added, pleasing both sides.
Leave it out of GW2, just leave it out of GW2…seriously…
It won’t ‘’kill you’’ if you can’t wear a lingerie.
Add elegant armor, which reveals ’’enough’’ skin, but which is not insulting. Thank you.
I totally agree with this.
This is what is keeping me away from a Legendary weapon…mindless grinding and annoying farming…plus RNG! It makes no sense! What’s legendary in that? Luck?! No way!
Stacks and stacks and stacks of items required for a legendary weapon is crazy! Not to mention that a precursor might NEVER drop for you! And someone might not even have enough gold to buy it from Trading Post! There is nothing legendary in that!
Give us some epic scavenger hunts, like Black Moa Chick from GW1, it was interesting and I really felt good in the end when it hatched.
Legendary weapons should require something similar to this, something which will make you proud, something which will actually keep you going! This way, I am just ’’stuck’’ because I have to spend tooooooooooooo much time on mindless grinding which can actually make you sick of the game itself.
It was obviously rushed, just because people rushed to level 80 and found themselves ’’bored’’.
Reconsider this, ANet, please…
We had some ‘’area-based’’ mounts in GW1, like Junundu Wurms and Siege Devourers. I found it really cool, but since GW2 is an open world, I don’t see why would it hurt adding some rather cool mounts.
ANet is a great company and I think they could come up with very original designs of creatures/vehicles which could serve as transportation.
When I watched “Avatar” I was amazed at how the creatures looked there! And it really gave me a desire to be able to ride something similar to that…
The character also looks somehow royal and proud when on mount…and I would also be more than satisfied with a normal horse for my Human.
I am finding it utterly disturbing how quite a few women like to expose themselves in such a way.
I know that this is a game, but I would rather look upon a woman who is dressed in dignified clothes with great combination rather than the one who wants all the ’’attention’’ on herself by revealing majority of her skin and hardly wearing anything. To me a personality and soul are more important than how your body looks like. And to be honest, I am tired of seeing female Human characters running around in Masquerade, Winged and Tier 3 armor sets…and these are the armor sets I see the most of them all.
I do understand that this is all about a choice, but I believe that nice, elegant clothes without revealing TOO MUCH can be added, pleasing both sides…and without looking like 21st century pop-stars.
I also have quite a few female friends who prefer being well armored rather than exposing themselves in this way.
Nothing gives people rights to ’’demand’’ anything, besides I wouldn’t mind if we had a laaaaarge variety of everything, because we do LACK decent light armor.
Also those who want skimpy armor can’t claim to have all the rights for it certainly offends a certain number of people.
I do understand that majority of you want skimpy clothes, but just how skimpy you want them?
Seriously, seeing a lot of half-naked people running around makes the game lose on its seriousness and decency…
Let’s keep it nice and decent, a lot of beautiful armors can be made without making it look extreme and offensive. When one looks at the list of GW1 armors, you can see the perfect balance…
And I am certain that those who wish skimpy armor would love some of these armor parts…and I am also certain they won’t ’’die’’ if ANet doesn’t add too extreme clothes.
I don’t want this to turn just like the other MMO’s….if you really want skimpy armor this badly…you can always go play Tera, Aion, etc.
Also…this is a 12+ game.
Nothing will ruin your ‘’rights of freedom’’ if some decency is kept at appropriate level.
Excluding Charr and Sylvari out of this.
I see nothing wrong in wanting to expose fur patterns and Sylvari glow…nor do I find it embarrassing and offensive. Plants and fur…quite alright. Perhaps expanding cultural armors for these races would solve the problem? Because I can only see Sylvari in plant-like armor (most fitting).
As for Humans and Norn…I think female Norn have quite a laaaarge variety of revealing armor…as well as female Humans…and it can be offensive towards certain people.
As kmaeropa said, GW1 armors were very form fitting and weren’t offensive nor were they tasteless. The only armor set which bugged me a lot was the Necro tattoo set, since she was in nothing else but underwear with tattoos (but so was the male). So I can freely say that GW1 armor sets were more than well balanced.
The one on the right. Thats revealing, elegant and in good tastes.
The one to the right has a nice design and nice details (also love the color).
Though I would prefer if it had a little longer skirt.
Also forgot to add one more.
Personally I like gothic style of dressing and Kurzicks in GW1 had amazing clothes (both male and female)…and in my opinion, I think it’s elegant and revealing enough, like others I’ve posted above.
I am finding most of skimpy armors very extreme and some light armors are really like lingerie…they can be offensive for certain women and I can understand them more than well.
@ Onshidesigns
The middle one (in white dress) looks juuuust in place!
Though we have quite a few similar ones compared to the other two.
Even though I dislike very skimpy armor…I do not mind elegance and style with taste without revealing too much.
Here’s an example of a few beautiful armor sets from GW1…I think they reveal enough and I don’t want this game to turn into anime.
Your right, I wouldn’t show up to a job interview in lingerie… in RL I don’t dress skimpy or provocative. Though I do have some outfits that are a bit revealing, but I never leave the house in them. It’s not really that I’m afraid to be seen in public wearing such attire, but rather that I find such outfits in the real world to be more appropriate to be kept in your private life at home. I actually like how the outfits look though, otherwise I wouldn’t own them.
I’m more open to wearing skimpier outfits in public when it comes to games though. Now, would I actually wear some of the outfits I have worn in games in real life, most likely not. Quite honestly, a large percentage of them just look like they would be uncomfortable to actually wear.
Fair enough!
I just think that beautiful clothes can still be made without looking too provocative. (In game) Especially for light armor wearers.
@ Panda
That is correct. Though people will certainly ’’behave’’ differently and talk to you in a different way compared to what kind of attire you wear, before getting to know what kind of person you really are. And I imagine you certainly wouldn’t show-up at job interview in a lingerie…for I assume a normal person wouldn’t do such a thing.
I stand behind what I said and I had experience with this. A woman dressed in skimpy, revealing clothes certainly wants a lot of attention on herself.
As Mad Queen stated, I do not mind seeing elegant clothes, or some which reveal a bit of body but still remain with taste.
@ Zeefa
It’s the fact. Face it.
No offence to your taste, but it’s normally the impression people get when they see a person dressed like that, they certainly won’t get the fact that you want to be yourself and will gladly look at you as sex object rather than a person. Sometimes I just think that some women even want that.
@ Zeefa
Considering the points of view of some men, a woman dressed in skimpy clothes is an ’’easy’’ woman compared to one dressed in proper clothes. I am not going into details, I believe I was clear enough. The type of clothes one wears describes the personality more than well. It’s the ‘’first look’’ and impression one gets when seeing a person like that. She may not be an easy woman for real, nor a weak person, but she gives that impression.
And to add…that woman most probably wants a looooot of attention on herself dressed up like that.
(edited by Blur.3465)
It’s not just the “skimpy armor for women so I can stare at them” people who want skimpy armor. The people who rolled Charr and Sylvari characters want to show off the fur and glow respectively. My Charr is covered from head to toe. I can’t see (or show off) the fur pattern I picked. My Sylvari, which are PLANTS for heaven’s sakes, are modestly covered and don’t show off their glow.
If people want realistic armor that obeys the laws of physics, this game already has that. Their choices are available. For people that want stylish skimpy armor, their choices run from few to zero depending on the race of the character.
TL:DR I vote for more skimpy stylish armor.
I understand your desire for this and yes I agree that the Charr lack some open armor. The fur patterns are lovely and I liked the gladiator-like heavy armor for my Charr, since I could see his fur clearly. I see no ’’disgrace’’ in that.
As for Sylvari, quite a few armors show-off the glow (female), especially cultural for both males and females.
Though majority of people just play female humans and norn for the reasons I stated earlier.
snip
Understood, though I pointed out some ’’comparison’’ as to how it looks like to me.
It’s how it affects me and makes me feel…nothing intended to force people to ’’yield’’ to my opinion.
As for male part…I only see it being fair enough, considering how most female armors are made. Though I would certainly not like seeing half-naked men running around. XD
You have extremist point of view on what nudity is. I only view private areas as nudity.
I guess it differs from person to person, but we are not talking about nudity here…
I was talking about provocative types of armor, not nudity.
You have a right to your opinion. You do not have the right to insist others cater to that opinion.
I did not insist that. I just posted the way I feel about skimpy armor and how it affects me.
I do not wish to argue with personal tastes here, but I would just like to express my opinion.
I dislike skimpy armor in every way…
1. The character loses all dignity and is nothing but a ’’figure’’ to look at and feast your eyes upon.
2. I dislike it especially on females…they lose morale and certainly all respect. I like how some medium and heavy armors are well-covered for them, but most of light armor is totally open. It’s better to imagine what’s under that armor…in my opinion.
3. Like said above, better-looking armors are needed. I wanted a nice long dress for my female Sylvari…and the only one I like is the Carrion Acolyte, Nightmare and Orrian armor…so these are just three choices I like…the rest are quite open…yes, the design is nice, but it all looks too provocative and like lingerie.
4. What Tera did with female armors is embarrassing…they are worse than succubus…and I would hate to see anything similar to this in GW2…I know I do not have to wear that, but seeing characters running around like that would make me sick.
5. If that would happen, I would also want to see more male characters in some armored underwear and nothing else… -.-
I like to see when games hold onto some morale…skimpy armor just makes me lose respect for it and players who actually have their characters dressed that way. No offence intended…like stated above, I am just expressing my opinion about this.
(edited by Blur.3465)
I completely and totally agree with OP!
Adding scaling would please everyone!
I hate being rushed and even yelled at if I say I wish to watch cinematics or go at my own pace…I simply adapt to the group then and just follow as they please…
I too play in a group of 1 or two friends and we all hate being forced to PUG a group. We have a small guild and we like it that way…doing things at our own pace…and I hate being crippled like this, I love dungeons, yet I hate having to PUG. Scaling would solve everything for everyone and I sincerely hope ANet considers this…
GW2 is unlike other MMO’s and by adding this, it would break yet another annoying thing about standard MMO’s.
I am aware it is an MMO, and if I like doing things at my own pace and with my friends, that doesn’t mean I am anti-sociable… -.-
I love helping players and Tyria offers helping people without having to group with them.
Forced grouping should certainly be out of the way.
Who wants challenge and big groups can still team up and do hard-core content, thanks to scaling which would boost the strength of mobs and boost the rewards too.
This wouldn’t damage anyone, yet it would help many.
(edited by Blur.3465)
I agree with Rym…some music is just too heroic.
I just can’t stand music in Ascalon at daytime…too heroic, too cheerful, too happy.
Considering what happened here and how much grim history it has, it should be something mysterious and dark. I do understand the Charr live there now, but still…Even the Charr Homelands from GW1 had a more mysterious music than what we have here now.
I know there’s a custom playlist, but that’s not the point…It’s different when you hear the in-game music and when you make your own list…not the same feeling.
I also hope they add more darker songs, since right now, almost every area is too cheerful.
I like the music in Shiverpeaks (the piano track) and I loooove the night music in Ascalon (the one with chorus), I also enjoy the tracks we get once in swamp…it just gives atmosphere to the game and different approach…it gives me goosebumps.
As for Orr…I don’t mind if it doesn’t have music…since there’s a lot of ’’weird’’ sounds there…but adding some rather creepy music there would be great though.
It would be sooooo nice and atmospheric! Adding this option in graphics would have been amazing!
I hope ANet considers this!
And thank you for posting this thread!
Scaling is not a solution here.
As has already been pointed out – more complex, team based mechanics can be used with more players and specifically, a number of players that the dev team know in advance.
Developing content to scale from 1 to however many players is always going to be a slightly dumbed down experience.
The solution, as I have already suggested, is to keep dungeons away from the finale of a storyline that has mostly consisted of casual content. They can be there, but as a separate story piece that adds to but is not required to complete the story experience.
I agree with this, totally.
There was a suggestion earlier, about making it scale, so that one person could do it, and have the difficulty increase with the larger party size. That, to me, is the ideal solution. (Make it fun for everybody, as it were. I want to have fun, I want YOU to have fun, I just don’t want to be forced to have fun the way that you do, if for me it isn’t, if you follow…)
Scaling, yes, scaling!!! I’ve suggested this in two threads already and I think it would be an ideal solution for everyone! The larger the team, the harder it gets, the better rewards you get! But still enjoyable for all ways of gaming and not being forced to do something you don’t like!
I hate being forced to group! And always 1-2 friends I hold dear are online, which means I have to pug most of the dungeons, and my friends too do not like that. At least spare story from this…story should be something one could enjoy without being tensed, stressed or bullied…
As you can all tell, not all of us are the same and not all of us like to be forced to team up.
Consider this, before ’’attacking’’ us and saying that we should go play some RPG instead.
I like relaxed way of gaming and I do not need ANY stressful time in dungeons with random people. I have stopped doing them a while ago and only one of my characters has all story modes done…I am finding it ridiculous how we have to be in a team of 5 to complete the story mode…especially now because hardly anyone is doing them.
Like stated above, scaling would be an ideal solution.
I just prefer ’’exploring’’ the story and enjoying it on my own or with 2-3 friends.
With 5 people it’s sometimes impossible, especially because many refuse even to watch the cinematics and just do the dungeon so they can slash and kill…It just kills the ’’epic’’ feeling and any will to press on. I also don’t feel as a hero either…more like some sidekick…
Like I’ve said, I do not mind 5-man dungeons (explo), but content and story should be doable with 1-3 people…or simply adding the scaling system which would increase the rewards if more are in the group, but also make it harder…
Don’t get me wrong…I love seeing people in open world, it makes it alive, and neither am I unsociable…I just prefer playing this way.
I just don’t understand how can this be selfish? Adding options so everyone can enjoy, rather than crippling those who enjoy playing their own way without being forced to do something they don’t want to.
This has nothing to do with being selfish.
I am finding it rather selfish how some people cannot tolerate the fact that some of us like playing with a few friends and enjoying the game in our own way.
No one is preventing you from teaming up, since no instance, whatsoever, required ‘’you must go solo’‘…the Living Story with Rox and Braham was optional. You could solo it or enjoy it with the rest of people…
I don’t mind having big dungeons which require 5-man team, but I don’t see the point in adding this to the lore and story…
Harpy fractals, yes, that one can be a pain…but to be honest, every time I did it, my entire team laughed, we found it rather hilarious!
Anyhow, randomness and unexpected things would be great in dungeons!
I also had an idea of driving in mining carts, enemies jump into your mining cart, you fight them off, the tracks collapse etc etc…It would be hard to develop, for sure…but seeing the Rapids level in SAB (the ending with the river), makes me think it’s possible.
Variation and randomness would be lovely…this way we just have dungeons which are about killing (mostly).
As for rewards, as g e o suggested, each of these dungeons could have their own set of tokens and different weapon and armor skins to exchange these tokens for.
I would like to take AC as an example…we have 1 Skelk boss for each path…first time I did AC I thought that we would face different boss with each different path…some Skeleton, some Ascalonian Necromancer or anything similar which would fit the creepiness of the catacombs. I also expected more ’’surprises’’ in dungeons…
Adding pressure plates, some hidden doors which open a way to a chest, rolling boulders…etc…I would love to see these things in the future! They would also give that adventurous, epic feeling!
@generalraccoon You have a point where you said that traps should not kill you instantly, it would be better if some of them gave you ’’space’’ to dodge-roll or get away from them. First time I did Ascalonian Basin puzzle (I totally loved it though!) the fire traps were a bloody pain…I always ended up instantly killed by them, they were also bugged, so impossible to get away from the flames.
But the shaking camera, the falling boulders and the effects that puzzle gives is just great! Adding similar things to dungeons would give one a great feeling! And also adding some ’’puzzles’’ where one has to think in order to work things out. Maybe a puzzle on the ground with letters, one has to guess some ’’name’’ or ’’year’’ from lore in order to unlock the path…If you step on wrong letter, the floor collapses and spikes await you from below!
The story in dungeons could also be related to some ancient artifacts, weapons from the past…you have to venture inside to retrieve them…there’s so much which could be added to expand the experience in dungeons!
(edited by Blur.3465)
Agreed! These hairstyles look lovely and I would certainly love to see more LONG hairstyles for males! (Waist length or over waist, it just looks too wicked!)
@ Milennin
I still don’t see why would it hurt if they added this though, I’m finding SAB way more fun than actual dungeons, but that’s just me.
With all due respect, I do not mean to cause any argument here and I believe I was clear enough in my post about 5-man dungeons.
I also have no intentions to explain myself but I will say a couple of things, I clearly love this game and this is why I am posting suggestions…there is no need to offend nor attack, seriously.
I am expressing my opinion and suggesting what I would love to see added.
I am also well aware that ANet are very busy working with other things, but this is something I would love to see in the future.
You say selfish, I say I like to stick with a small circle of people I know…do consider the fact that we are all different and I bet there’s a lot more people who would love to see infantile mode in dungeons or the scaling system, like I have stated above…
I just do not understand why would it hurt if ANet implemented any of this? Who wants to team up with 5 people can still team up and get waaay better rewards than those with fewer people. It would only do good for everyone, seriously…
And like I have said, I know ANet are busy but I hope they consider this.
Greetings!
As the title says, dungeons should be more like a real adventure…
To be honest, when someone says the word ’’dungeon’’ I just imagine Indiana Jones style dungeons and fun ’’quests’’ to do. The dungeons we currently have here are all about ‘’kill, kill, kill, skip, skip, don’t watch cinematic, SKIP, kill boss, get loot…go down, get up, go down again…etc.." In my opinion, I do not find it fun at all. I am aware that some dungeons in this game have traps and things which can kill you unexpectedly…but I would love to have that feeling of a real adventure.
Someone would say “Go do jumping puzzles”…I did them all, yet I would love dungeons to be more like this and not just hard-core killing…some mobs are even pointless…
Imagine trap-doors, falling somewhere, activating some traps accidentally…you step on pressure plate, all the sudden the ground collapses, you find yourself in a room with spikes…you must find a switch in the dark to stop it else you’ll die…but in these super-dangerous rooms you have the chance to find some rare chest which rewards you nicely. Rolling boulders (Like from GW1), more traps, more adventurous feel…and certainly better rewards.
I do understand that some people are not good at jumping, avoiding etc…but this is also a challenge and to be honest, I prefer it more than just killing and dodging…
The laser part in CoE is amazing!
FotM dungeon has some of these elements and I really like them…and I would love to see more dungeons in this style, more traps, more adventurous challenge, less hard-core killing…and in the end, one could come across some nasty boss, which requires you to think! (Example with the Frog King from SAB…even if not too hard, the fight is still interesting.)
One more thing…I know this is an MMORPG, and before anyone ’’attacks’’ me…I want to say that I truly dislike the fact that almost all dungeons are designed for 5 players…
I play with no more than 1-2 friends and I truly dislike teaming up with random people…I never know what to expect and I truly do not need stressful time…
One friend and I have decided to do CoE duo, path 1…we did everything without struggle, yet when we reached the laser part, we could not go further, for the door was locked and it was impossible to shut the lasers down…
I also understand that dungeons are meant to be high-end content, extremely hard, etc, etc…but I also want to have fun in them…
When teaming up with random people, it’s all about skipping, speed and raging most of the time…(Some will also say “Go find a guild”…I am leading a small guild and I love it that way.) All I am asking is that I would certainly love future dungeons to also be possible for those who want to play with 1-2 friends and enjoy them…to be honest, I can’t even watch cinematics in explo mode…and I would very much like to see what’s happening in them.
In GW1, I could simply take heroes, a few friends and go to the dungeons (Hard mode, yes)…and certainly enjoy!
Adding infantile mode, or simply ’’scaling’’ as to how many are in team would be more than great! Depending of how many are in team=drop rate gets affected…if more players, better drops, yet harder enemies…etc.
I know that ANet are busy working with maaaaany things…but there’s certainly a lot which could be added to the dungeons to make them enjoyable for everyone.
Thank you kindly!
Hello!
People who played GW1 will remember this lovely scavenger hunt.
I am posting this because I would love to see the return of something similar to this!
And honestly, the miniature black moa chick was adorable! Will we get anything similar? Scavenger hunt for some nice minis? Raptor Hatchling, Devourer Hatchling, etc. It is something I would really look forward to!
I know that ANet has a lot of work to do, though I really hope they consider adding something like this in the future!
Thank you.
The density of rain should not be ’’high’’, just so it doesn’t mess up with others’ PC’s.
Though having changing weather would really be great…Perhaps we’ll see something like that in the future!
I have to agree with OP.
Yes, every region in game has specific music for it…but it doesn’t change. Shiverpeaks have a few repeatable tracks, some are even from GW1…though it hardly ever changes. You enter combat, the music switches to combat and afterwards it’s back to the same track over and over again…yes, it does get a little boring. Though I have to admit that out of all areas, I love the music in Shiverpeaks, since it’s nice and serene.
Also in Queensdale…I only hear Queensdale official music and sometimes Pre-Searing music, but to be honest, Pre-Searing music is getting on my nerves after spending soooo much time in it…
I bought the Official Soundtrack and I have to say that it has amazing tracks! Yet more than half of them aren’t implemented in the game!
I was expecting if you like enter a certain jumping puzzle that the music changes…in personal story too…whether it’s dynamic or not, it doesn’t change…sometimes you just hear ambient music playing on and on and on…
I like the fact that when I enter the swamp areas, the music changes there…to a more depressing theme, and I give a big plus to that…and I can freely say that it’s one of my favourite tunes in GW2, as well as Ascalonian night music with the wonderful chorus…it reminds me of something out of LotR.
Speaking of Ascalonian music…I can’t stand it. During daytime in Ascalon, the music is too heroic, too cheerful, too annoying (In my opinion)…Considering the fact what happened there, it should not be so heroic! When I go there with my human, I just feel like crying outloud. The theme for this region should be something more mysterious, something which would give you goosebumps, since it ’’breathes’’ with history! I understand that the Charr have claimed it, but hearing the heroic theme constantly really annoys me greatly…I thought I would be spending a lot of time in Ascalon, but this just puts me off…that is why I prefer to play without music there…it’s so much better.
What I also find ridiculous is the fact that Maguuma Jungle music plays when I am in Divinity’s Reach…(Asura theme too)…it just loses the nostalgic feeling…and areas lose their uniqueness.
Anyhow, the music in game is wonderful, there’s a lot of tracks that still need to be added and I sincerely hope that ANet considers this in the future. The game itself is MAGNIFICENT! Adding more variety to music would certainly improve the feeling while playing!
Aaron Coberly, Lead Character ArtistOur goal is to add more variety to all of the races over time .
Soooo…does that mean we’ll get more character creation options in the future? I have high hopes about that
Greetings,
First of all, I want to thank Arena Net for making wonderful, wonderful environment and scenery in this game, but what I came to notice…is that I am missing the ‘’changing weather’‘.
There are certain parts in game where it only rains or snows…but it does not ’’cover’’ the entire area.
What I would like to see is that sometimes…we get bad, cloudy, rainy, miserable weather in some areas. To be honest, I love hearing rain sounds.
And for example, in Shiverpeaks to get some blizzards, harsh wind, etc.
I like the fact about the Living Story, where in Wayfarer we get snow storm…but it just covers a certain part of the area.
Are there any plans about adding the weather system to the game?
Thoughts about this?
I mostly agree with you, Sinifair. It feels a little goofy indeed. Though let’s give them some time, perhaps the story will get more depth later on. So far, Trahearne is the only character I have issues with…
Anyhow, all Tolkien fans are more than welcome in my guild…we also roleplay as some of Tolkien’s characters in game…so if anyone is interested, let me know.
The story in GW1 was darker than here…and it seemed a little more complete than this…but hey, GW1 had four campaigns…this game has only one. We should give it some time and see how it goes. To be honest, I am eager for more lore and discoveries.
They are working on it, obviously…so we’ll just have to wait and see! I trust that ANet will keep improving this game, it just needs a bit of time.
As for Tolkien…I am a huuuuge fan. I have read all his books…his darkest book was “The Silmarillion” and I have to say that it’s my favourite one, out of all his works. “The Hobbit” on the other hand had humorous parts and it was a ’’lighter’’ story compared to “The Silmarillion” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
I don’t mind humour here and there…we have some serious and humorous aspects in this game…I guess it also depends of the Order you choose. Vigil is quite serious, due to Forgal.
But yes…Order of Whispers in GW1 were very mysterious and secretive…quite professional too. I expected them to be more like Dark Brotherhood in GW2.
It would be lovely indeed…and like Nike said win-win.
I would certainly love to see more long hairstyles for males. As a male Human warrior, I was really disappointed with hairstyle options…liked only one (which is normally on all NPC humans)…and it’s a little disappointing to see everyone running around looking the same as you…
I would be more than happy with one or two hairstyles which are over shoulder length.
