What happens if you have keys in shared inventory and try to open a chest? Will it take a key from shared inventory and open the chest or will it say you don’t have the required key?

It works as it should. Too bad that gaining a new one doesn’t do what you think it would/should do too. C’mon Anet.

Well, at least there’s that. I agree with the general idea in this thread that the non-stacking into shared inventory is a problem that should be addressed. I’d say the best way to fix it would be to add a key storage similar to the wallet for this kind of thing.

Certainly a great hero of Tyria can do something while on the surface.

Dodge. Apparently. Which I didn’t know.
Would be a bigger deal if there were more places it happens. Could be made less of a big deal by moving the mobs around in Orr (the only place this has ever really bothered me) or fixing the lack of skills apart from dodge when on the surface.

I agree that there should be skills available when on the surface of water. Look at what water polo players can do on the surface of water. Certainly a great hero of Tyria can do something while on the surface.

There are many things that can be very useful to put in the shared slots. Salvage kits (regular or infinite), passes, boosters, other consumables like revive orbs, merchant, TP, bank access (regular or infinite) and so on. I’m sure I could fill all 11 slots without putting the tools there.

Ever since they made the infinite gathering tools account bound there are only two reasons to get more than one set:
1) extra convenience of not having to swap them through the bank/shared slots
2) for different types with different animations

I’ve seem posts from people who have gotten multiple sets for reason 2.

I think the best thing they could do is add another set of gathering tool slots. Every character would have two sets of gathering tool slots. One would be character-based (exactly what we have now) and the other would be account-based. For each character you can select if that character is using the character-based or account-based gathering tool slots. Picture something similar to the two sets of weapon slots most characters have and can swap between. You could equip infinite or regular in any slot in any combination.

That’s just the basic idea. There would be plenty of details to work out like how do accounts acquire the shared gathering tool slots and would there be a minimum level to use them.

I’d like to see more skins that can be earned in the game. Ideally, they could have in-game content that that let you pick a skin from the gemstore after you complete the content. You’d be limited to only being able to earn a few gemstore skins that way. If you want more you’d still have to buy them. I’m rather disappointed that there are no glider skins at all that you can earn in game. You get the one default glider skin and all the rest have to be purchased.

The first question is how many disgruntled players will Anet have to deal with asking for money back or extra gems based on either change.

If they reduce the cost of gems I think most people would just spend less money to get what they want. Maybe some buy more gems but if they gave twice as many gems people would have to buy more than twice as many gems for Anet to see an increase in revenue from gems.

If the reduce the gem cost of items then more people would be able to buy the items by converting gems to gold and Anet gets less revenue from gem sales.

Since we have so many “experts” here, how difficult was it for them to change all of the old Wintersday Gifts to Dusty Wintersday Gifts? They pulled that off without a hitch. Four different items that didn’t stack together were converted to one single item that does stack.

Everybody is either hoarding them or deleting them. Every character gets a level 20 at first and second birthday. (You can also get one from the Massive Achievement Chest every 5000 achievement points.) Whey I got my first birthday ones all 5 of my chars were already past level 20. If every character gets 2 but can only use one or less, you do the math… Plus there was the birthday gift bug so a lot of people got extras. How are people not going to have a surplus of these? I have 14 level 20s in two stacks. Then there’s the level 30 scrolls. I used 4 of the 5 i got from my original chars on the 4 new chars I got with HoT. That leaves me with one level 30. I’ll get two more level 20s and one more level 30 on each of those 4 new chars.

If I can delete the scrolls without causing any problems then it shouldn’t cause any problems to replace them. Maybe at some point they could do something like they did with the old wintersday gifts —

What would really be nice is if all of the level 20 scrolls were exchanged for level 30 scrolls that all stack together with the original level 30s.

I’m not saying this should be a priority, just saying it would be nice. There are plenty of similar things that would be nice to see improved.

It’s been a while since I did map completion but I didn’t get anywhere near that drop rate on keys. I’d have been thrilled to get 1 key every 12 maps. If I had gotten a key for every 3 maps I would have been convinced that RNG was broken!

Why would they assign different IDs to items that are otherwise identical? The experience scrolls is a perfect example. There’s no reason why all level 20 scrolls shouldn’t stack together. They do the exact same thing.

I think a better way would be to have something similar to the swap-able weapon slots that most professions have but for gathering tools. One set of slots would be character-based (we have that now) and another set would be account-based. People could select which set of gathering tool slots each character is using. You could equip infinite or regular gathering tools in both sets of slots.

I agree with the OP on this. It would be really nice to be able to combine uses on salvage kits rather than use multiple storage slots or have to frequently go back to a merchant to buy another kit. Why are they limited to only 25 uses anyway?

I also dont get why so many people like to play human, I mean you play one in real life for like 20 years or more why would you still wan to play it in a fantasy world.

I hope to play my real life human for way more than 20 years. I’m shooting for 100+. Out of my 10 chars I still have 4 human, 2 norn and one of each of the rest.

The OP is really more of an opinion than a PSA. I’m averaging about 50s per encryption (individual results may vary) for the junk items. That’s still 30s profit per box if I buy keys and that doesn’t include for the mats or other stuff I get. Plus I’m still working on the collection for the junk items.

You always get a junk item worth at least 20s so worst case you break even, again not counting the mats or other items you get. Each individual can decide for them self if they are better off buying a key or selling the box. For some people it might not be just about the profit.

Does the fractal level really matter? They all stack together so they would be the same no matter what level you get them from.

I can’t help but wonder if the OP is just trying to get the price down so they can buy cheaper.

It’s obviously a better deal to buy 5 at a time than to buy 1 at a time. Some people may elect to buy them one at a time rather than wait until they have enough gems to buy 5. There’s nothing wrong with having that option available.

According to the wiki the only way to get the perm bank pass is from the BL chests or drop thousands of gold. It’s clearly not a common item so probably not many people have them. If you have one that would be a very worthwhile use for one shared inventory slot. If I had one that would be the first thing I’d put in and I’d be very tempted to buy more bank tabs. Might be time to use the BL keys I’ve been sitting on. RNG hates me so whatever the chances are of getting one, divide by 1000 and put a minus sign in front of it and that’s probably my chance of getting one.

I can think of plenty of other good uses for one slot. I have 10 characters. If I use it for a salvage kit I can free 1 slot on each character.

I still think they are overpriced. I expect they are priced high, at least partly so that people are more likely to use real money to get them rather than just convert gold to gems to get them. I might eventually get a set of 5 but only if I catch them on sale. For the current price they are more of a luxury item than a convenience item. If they were a lot cheaper I’d have the max without having spent any real money. That wouldn’t help ANET much. I have no problem with them being pricey.

It doesn’t make any sense to me why you can’t use them to transfer unbound soulbindable items.

I’m in Wychmire swamp to kill a few Vet Oakhearts to see if I get any Evergreen Slivers. I’ve been here for like 15-20 minutes and haven’t seen a single Oakheart spawn the whole time. There have always been Oakhearts here before. Wiki still says they should be here. There’s one dead Oakheart that’s been there the whole time I’ve been here. Is respawn bugged?

I’ve already done Toypocalypse Survivor. I thought in the past the repeatable ones didn’t count for the meta. If they do now that makes this a lot more reasonable.

Kal Spiro, you must have a lot more free time than I do. 2.5k drinks would be over 3k gifts, or over 12 stacks. I’ve farmed less than 2 stacks total so far. Am I missing something?

I did Grawnk last year. This year the two achievements already show as completed so I can’t do them for this year. That reduces my choices for what I can do to complete the meta. I suck at JPs so that means if I want to complete ‘A Very Merry Wintersday’ this year I have to do 10K drinks and 2.5k Candy. That means an unreasonably massive grind or unreasonably massive gold expense. Achievements that can’t be achieved should not be part of a meta.

All achievements for a holiday meta should be doable.
The candy and drinks achievements for the meta should be a lot less for the meta part. For example, completing tier 3 gives you a point for the meta but you still need the full 10K drinks for Winter’s Presence.

item disappears upon moving it

I’ve recently been having an issue where occasionally, when I move an item, it disappears. At first I could close and reopen windows (i.e. inventory, bank, etc) and the item would re-appear. Recently it seems I have to log out and log back in to get the item to reappear. Earlier today I lost an item completely. In that case one thing I tried was moving another item to each empty space to see if the disappeared item would appear and that may have caused it to get really deleted.

I’m wondering if this is a game bug or just a graphic glitch. I would think if it were just a graphic glitch then what I did today wouldn’t cause the item to really disappear. I did not accidentally delete the item. I never got any prompt to confirm deletion. This issue suddenly started happening not that long ago. Has anyone else see this or is it just me? I don’t find any similar posts.

I was in the Durmand Priory in Lornar’s Pass and clicked to go to the PvP lobby. Next think I know the game client has restarted and is waiting for me to log in. There were no error messages displayed. It took an unusually long time to load the map and when it finally did I was in Lornar’s but near the exit to Snowden Drifts. I had a similar thing happen once before but I don’t recall the specifics.

Has anyone else see anything like this? Any ideas what happened?

Game finally downloaded for me. I chalk it up to the servers not being able to handle so many people trying to do a large download at once. Still not sure why the game client has to misbehave so badly for me while having the error.

Not solved at all. I’m still having issues. My client initially started downloading and then went to the connection error message. Now it immediately comes up with the connection error and seems completely locked up so all I can do is end-task it. Then if I try to start it again it locks my computer up completely after a few minutes. I’ve done this twice so far with the same result. On the second lockup it also reset my screen resolution to 640×480. Something is definitely very messed up with my game client now.

Update: I just tried re-downloading the client and get the same connection errors message from Gw2Setup.exe.

This is extremely frustrating. I’ve blown my lunch break on game client issues. I guess I’ll try again tomorrow. I also get screwed out of my daily login reward as I probably
won’t get a chance to log in again today.

Champ Loot/Drops/Kill Credit in large groups

Will this be addressed/fixed at some point? The issue is that when a very large group kills a champ a lot of people don’t get any loot from the kill. I’ve also noticed that I don’t even get credit for the kill at all — i.e. no progress on champ kills, daily kills, etc.

I know the first typical explanation is that you have to do a certain amount of damage. That’s fair but I’ll do enough damage to get the Gold level reward for the event but I still get no loot and no credit for the kill at all. That doesn’t seem logical. I’ve also noticed that when the group is smaller I’ll get kill credit and drops even if I only get a few shots off but in a large group I can wail on the champ for the entire duration of the kill and get absolutely nothing. So I can get loot and kill with less damage and nothing with more damage. With that the whole “you didn’t do enough damage” argument doesn’t seem to hold water at all.

People say join a group. Being in a group seems to help but this still happens to me quite a bit even if I am in a group. This also makes me wonder if I’m losing kill credit/drops because maybe someone else who otherwise might not have gotten credit happened to be in a better group than me.

I’m just completely disappointed in how they handled the monthly reset part of this. I don’t understand at all why they would merge posts about the monthly reset into this thread and then COMPLETELY ignore that issue.

I never asked for or expected any kind of reimbursement. That was never realistic. But they could have at least acknowledged the monthly reset issue up front with everything else. Maybe they were afraid of the additional immature ranting and raging it would have inspired?

In two months hardly anyone will even remember that this bug happened.

Why has there been no acknowledgment at all of the monthly reset issue? Why were my posts that are specifically about the monthly reset in a thread specifically about the monthly reset merged into a thread that doesn’t acknowledge or address the monthly reset at all. Very disappointing.

People are complaining about losing 5 laurels or 7 laurels. Sounds like that issue is fixed. I’m glad that’s fixed for the people who had that issue. I’m still out 10 laurels for an issue that Anet didn’t even address or acknowledge in this thread. I’m not saying I’m gonna lose any sleep over it. At this point I wouldn’t have enough time to do a full set of monthlies anyway even if they did fix it. It’s like they just swept that issue under the rug and ignored it. Just…disappointing.

I originally posted in a thread about the monthlies not resetting. My posts were merged into this thread but based on the title and the Anet responses this thread seems to ignore the monthly reset issue. The real disappointing thing is that at this point even if they do reset my monthlies I won’t have enough time anyway to complete it. So I, like many other people, lose out on 10 luarels plus other rewards.

Is there any chance this will be fixed? The randomness of it is a bit frustrating. If it’s not fixed soon then those of us who didn’t get reset right away won’t have much of a chance to get them done anyway. I wish someone would at least let us know if something will be done or not.

@Erus Keb: My friend and I each had 4 achievment tracks completed before the reset. With the patch he reset and I did not.

Mine didn’t reset at all but I know of other people who did reset completely. I would like the opportunity to do monthly again this month like other people. I hope this is addressed soon while there is still reasonable time.

Haven’t checked mine, but you could potentially get double the monthlies this month was my understanding. Once before patch, and once after. Unless you don’t get the laurels.

Nope, I’m pretty sure they said that the second half would only be available if you didn’t finish the first half.

A friend of mine did 4/4 in the first half and then was reset back to 0/4 with the patch. I did 4/4 in the first half and did not reset. If that’s what they said then it didn’t work that way for everybody.

Mine did not reset. Still at 4/4 after patch. A friend of mine did reset from 4/4 to 0/4.
Is this a bug? Doesn’t see fair that some people can do monthlies a second time and some can’t.

I’ve had this happen twice now. In this case I had one POI left in Diessa Plateau, the one at North Nolan Hatchery. As I approached I got the Enter Instance prompt so I hit “Enter Instance” but just as I did it gave me the POI. I’m not sure if I had the chest and lost it as I entered the instance. I didn’t realize I’d get the POI from outside the instance.

I don’t remember where the first time this happened was. It might have been the same place. I submitted an in-game bug report but never heard anything.

Has anyone else seen this happen? Can anyone confirm if I just lost the reward because of entering the instance?
