Well to put it positively, at least their prices will tank.
The weekend was a terrible idea gone wrong. Add a great deal of content to a game with lists and lists of compiled bugs. Add it on a weekend when you introduce a free trial. Add it during peak server times and make it one time only events. Recipe for disaster.
It’s becoming a bad game for casual players.
They’re already losing more than just GW1 fans.
I haven’t played since Wednesday, so I guess I don’t care anymore.
You are free to live in denial as long as you wish.
If it was profitable this time, it will be the only way to go next time.
I said it would be disastrous and divisive for the game if continued, after asking a series of questions. Where did you get denial from in my post, if you even read it which I hope you didn’t, as your comprehension was dismal if you did.
Essentially, we all know you’re not going to go back on this. Assuming you double down and release Ascended gear for every slot, will that be the end of it? Will you continue to “bridge the gap” between Exotic and Legendary with more gear and stats? Will you add different ways to obtain Ascended gear other than the Forge and the new Dungeons?
Obviously I think continuing down this path will be disastrous and divisive for the game. You need to let people know so they can make their decisions now as to whether or not this game will be as much of a treadmill as the ones we left it for, so we can leave this accordingly.
Agreed totally. They have too many bugs to fix, too many SERIOUS, game changing bugs such as rendering problems, to be focusing so heavily on new content… Especially new content like this, that is highly divisive and badly received. They have made a serious misstep with this weekend and I think they will see it soon.
This problem is only going to get worse. The more that people feel alone and like they can’t get anything done, the less likely they are to want to play.
Very well said. At first I was excited at “new gear, new dungeon” but the gear should not be ONLY obtained through this dungeon. That is unfair and a total contradiction to the whole rest of the game. Everything should be downgraded to Exotics and we should move on.
Agony is also a terrible, uninspired idea. So disappointing, all in all.
It was changed for an “animation issue” that no one ever saw. Then it was explained that people were “spamming 1 too much and it wasn’t fun gameplay.” I personally think it was the one option rangers had to be not completely terrible. Everything we have needs to be uniformly awful.
All my chars human females. Norn females look like men, male Norn look like really badly proportioned body builders.
What about human males?
Not bad but I prefer the females. Do you want a Barbie or a Ken?
All my chars human females. Norn females look like men, male Norn look like really badly proportioned body builders.
Human females are the best looking characters in the game. This is manifest fact by how many you see running around
3 tokens is an honest to god laugh. 3 tokens.
Those paths have bugged on me several times. Especially Detha at the end, before you fight the Ascalonians. That is a common bug, for me at least. Very, very frustrating.
Still terrible.
We couldn’t pvp before so nothing’s really changed.
Char slot>Bank slot>Bag slot>The rest
I did buy the witch’s outfit though, that was too perfect to miss out on.
So, nerfed to the ground. Absolutely ridiculous.
I’m sad too. Anyone tested it yet to see just how nerfed it is?
So how much has this been nerfed…?
With traited traps, my ranger was somewhat not completely useless, it could farm Orr all right. Now, with this nerf of traps, it is really ground zero. You have made this class absolutely useless, probably beyond repair. I’d like to think this is just a mistake, like I thought with the SB nerf, but this is probably another “animation glitch” etc.
Anyway, I have 3 other 80s because I could see the writing on the wall with this class. Ranger was my first 80 and I would’ve loved to see it get SOMETHING, but clearly it is just going to be ineffectual, more and more, terrible and made more terrible. I really do not understand. This is just beyond frustrating at this point.
If this is true (cannot play atm) it is highly disappointing and insane. Why not just delete this class entirely.
What a disappointment.
I want. Hope I’m not disappointed.
My point is not invalidated just because they have the same stats. Legendaries are exorbitantly more work than Exotics to obtain, so of course they are more respected etc. Gear is moving forward, if you don’t want to no one is forcing you.
This is all true, as I said in my thread. Some players want to achieve and move forward. If you don’t, no one is forcing you.
I’ve seen a lot of overreaction to Ascended gear so I’m glad that I could read the article and am going to assert that this is trivial. These are just like Legendaries. If you don’t want to work harder to get better gear, don’t. Some of us do though. We are happy and excited about these types of updates.
Exotics are easy to obtain. There is no grind that isn’t self-imposed.
I’d argue against Mesmer. They shine in groups and PVP but in PVE their capabilities are lacking. And this is coming from an 80 Mesmer; my favorite class, so I have no reason to hate, I only wish they could compete but the fact is at present they can’t.
Ranger is good for soloing, particularly at tagging in DE’s and its survivability is decent as well. Between traps, barrage, and ricochet of axe, you should walk away from events with as much or more than any other profession.
End game is heavily focused on PvP if you want it to be. I personally don’t PvP much and I’m enjoying my end game. PVE is still fun to me and will remain.
I agree with the people who expressed that the system works much better at a lower level. You have less places to go, making less money, and the ports are practically nothing. They need to scale better and we need more movement options, simple as that.
Precursors, arguably the hardest part of Legendary weapon ingredients to obtain, are currently (as we all know) bar none, the most expensive items in the game. Where will they go from here? Will they retain their extremely high values, go up, or go down, and why?
Feel free to quote Devs comments on their drop rates etc. Any facts contribute to the question at hand.
My personal feeling about the question is that logic dictates, as the game ages and people play more and more, more people will be getting level 80. They will be overachieving, getting tons of skillpoints and map completion. They will be accomplishing, making money and looking for something to spend it on, and what better than a precursor? I cannot foresee a reason why precursors would go down or at least not retain their current values unless their mechanics, and Legendary mechanics, are significantly altered.
I’d suggest not bothering until the class gets its buff. It is just not fun and cannot compete in the state it’s in.
Floating flawlessness.

I got Colossus.
I’ve seen two exotics (that I was made aware of) while doing dungeons. And mine personally came from an AC chest during path two, right after the trap/gravelings part. It was amazing.
For my Heavy characters I really want Arah armor, though I still haven’t done any of that yet. Light, TA is the best, or CoF. Medium, TA. CoF is good too for all armor styles though, that’s what I do the most. AC armor skins are very nice too, as well as CoE.
I liked dungeons from the first time I tried them, they are 90% of what I’ve done on this game. Got a precursor from a chest in one, leveled three characters to 80 through them, etc. So I already loved them. Then you added karma to them! I just wanted to say that’s a great step toward making dungeons even more fun and rewarding so thanks.
I’d just like to add my voice to the cacophony of stunned and disappointed rangers. We didn’t have many options and diminishing one of our only viable ones with no good reason, thinly veiling it behind a “bug” that somehow nobody saw, is just dishonest and clearly poorly thought out. I heard good things about Anet before I started playing this game, I hope a lot more disappointment isn’t in store for me.
