I guess europe will have to wait till tomorrow.
Greetings,
I’ve been a solo elementalist for a looong time, and I enjoy doing spvp and wvw.
But when I’m teamed up in a group, it seems boring. In group you don’t really need all your tricks for winning a fight, just do as much damage as possible. As we don’t really have a lot of damaging skills, I mostly rotate my attunements doing basicly number 2 constantly (little more with fire).
But I guess that’s with all classes, probably even worse with thief.
Ok oof, thanks, I was rushing towards 80 but I’m glad I don’t have to anymore, thanks!
Greetings,
I’m wondering if you have to be lvl 80 for halloween events, or if being lvl 80 gives you more events.
Thanks.
Oh how I would love having an elite to become superpowerful at one element.
In fire: turn into a magma overlord, with every step you take fire novas blast from your feet, constant meteor shower around you, and more skills to your imagination.
Water: Every step gives a water blast, healing allies and freezing enemies. When cast under water, gives you enormous speed.
Air: gives you the ability to fly, with clouds forming around you lightning down every enemy and knocking them back.
Earth: become an earth lord, quaking the earth with every step, knocking down mobs. Change the topography of the map with your attack.
One can dream..
Some people don’t enjoy easymode, but don’t enjoy being easymoded as well.
I got a 15k backstab once, as elementalist, geared around toughness/vit and some power/crit.
Ignore this post. Someone with a 0 days account did the exact same post on Reddit. He’s just trying to get some nerfs to the ELe.
He doesn’t even post his build or a video, this is just to get nerfs.A-Net has stated that they think Bunker Ele is too strong. I just want to know what might be coming in the future and what people think.
Quote it.

[Warrior]18k HB on Chief. Possibly the highest raw HB that can be achieved. Can anyone go higher?

I ate a 16k hb once on my elementalist. Was trying out a dps build, never again I guess…
@Pyrial, I don’t think elementalist is fine with just that.
They need to relook at our traits to make other builds viable as well, not just earth/water/arcane..We have as many viable builds as other professions, imo.
Not in my opinion.

I too find it the most fun, and when traited correctly you can indeed win vs anyone 1vs1 even if it takes a long time. It’s tough escaping from an elementalist.
But that was not the point I was trying to make, I just want other builds to be viable as well.
Can’t quote again.
@Bohab, it is true elementalist has a lot of tricks to slow down, heal, get off, but it’s basicly because we’re being forced into that spec and it deals less than average damage. If we trait otherwise, we die extremely fast, still without doing much damage.
Engineer 2nd skill does interrupt, even if enemy is standing still next to you.
That said, the elementalist has the worst downed state at the moment.
Mist form is good, but you have to get there, and it keeps on adding rez sickness.
I would like more viable builds on my elementalist, feels like I’m obligated to spend all my points in earth/water/arcane :/
Greetings,
I’m talking about spvp here. I’ve been trying some builds lately, and it’s impossible to do well in spvp without stacking of toughness. I’ve come to the conclusion that other classes have some sort of other defensive mechanism to let them passively reduce or negate damage if they want to spec a high power/crit build.
Thief has stealth in case his burst failed, warrior has his defense through armour, guardian as well and with good healing, mesmer has his clones to confuse people and stealth, necromancer has high hp and extra hp bar. Don’t know much about other professions.
The first spec I tried was having a high power/crit build. Toughness: 2100, 20k hp, around 50% crit and 2k power. Vs dummies the damage is high and satisfying.
Whenever I try to pvp with this build, I just get wrecked in a couple of seconds or less before I can start doing my damage.
Then I tried a condition bleed build, with a lot of points in earth. With a combo of churning earth, earthquake and ring of earth, I could almost kill all dummies with those 3 attacks.
But when I tried it in spvp, I again got completely wrecked. I could go mistform, but it was just extending my life a bit longer. I could however run away with rtl, but I never got a kill because I die faster than I can kill.
We already have lowest base hp, lowest base armour, but we don’t have a passive damage negation/reduction mechanic like other classes.
I wanted to try other builds because I’m starting to get bored by always having to play the same build with a lot of points in earth/water/arcane and with toughness/vit gear.
Sure you can last longer then, and you’re hard to kill if you want to escape (with rtl, slows, knockdowns), and you can get a kill if you play smart and swap attunements constantly, but it’s like we are forced to spec like this.
We have to spec into toughness/vit/healing to get the same basic defenses of other classes, but then it’s over for us. They can choose to have damage on top of it, or more defense..
I’m not the best writer, but I hope my message gets through..

We use duel Pistols because they are fashionable in duels.
We use Dual Pistols because they look cool. Other than that, they really are a little underpowered.
By underpowered, you mean less overpowered than pw and backstabbuilds.
I’d like to be a glass cannon build for once, without dying from 1 autoattack
@Wolfe, you are indeed correct, much depends on the gear as well.
Can’t argue with you on your other statements too as I have to agree.
This will just be a list of stuff I’ve been thinking while playing spvp.
-Every build deals massive damage, be it with dagger, sword, shortbow (haven’t seen much pistol thieves). Even autoattacks alone are powerful enough to kill someone.
I stopped reading there. Obviously this guy has never made a thief that went deep into Tricks and Stealth (for sneaky trapping) to find that HS and any other skill was extremely weak
You won’t indeed be seeing backstab crits like 14k with a tricks and stealth build (it was my favorite build when I played my thief btw). BUT, and this is important, you still deal a lot of damage while not being specced into it. (5k crit backstabs, over 1k autoattack). So the defense build deals as much damage as some glass ‘cannon’ builds of other classes, and that’s another thing which I don’t accept.
I’ll try to answer to other people’s comments as well tomorrow, but some posts have more priority.
They are not centered around one ability, havent you seen all the post’s complaining about heart seeker? Or c&d? Or cluster bomb? Long story short, if you can survive the spike, you have it in the bag. ALWAYS expect a big spike, then they have to run away while there init recharges
I beg to differ.
Backstabbuild: backstab is main source of damage, rest is filler.
Pistolwhip build: Pw is main source of damage, spam with haste
Aoe damage build: clusterbomb spam
Condition build: death blossom spam
Heartseaker build: hs spam, but luckily that build has become less viable.
I was surprised by a death blossom thief once. I was more surprised by the amount of condition damage he did. 15k bleed damage in a matter of seconds.
Sure I guess I could have cleaned the conditions, but with no other class is it necessary to do this fast. When a thief has better condition damage than a necromancer, it just isn’t funny anymore.
All of their builds are overpowered, and they are centered around 1 ability.

If can get thieves after they go invi, you can algo kittening can. Learn to play, god.
Pro tip for people with extra trouble: Make a lvl 1 thief, put invi skills, see where you go when they are killing you. Apply the same criteria.
I’m sure every thief follows the same path with the same speed after they went invisible, even though they have 360° to run off to and abilities to cross wides distances.
I’ll categorize you as a Thief n° 1, the base ignorant thief. It’s not the class but the player ideology.
I’m not a thief, but my god the tears are never ending. Thieves are not OP, L2P.
Resetting the fight might be an effective strategy in SPvP where holding points means nothing to the participants but it is pretty useless in TPvP.
-I am in the process of getting better, and I see improvement vs other classes, only vs thieves it remains hard.
Thanks for reading, I did not mean to offend anyone and if I did, I’m sorry. Also this post was made to vent a bit of frustrations I keep having every match
Also: why is it that only tpvp has any importance? “Thieves are op, but hey, they are a bit less op in tournaments, so all is fine.” No, not everyone plays tournaments all the time..
Reminds me of world of warcraft arena. Everything must be balanced around arena, every other aspect of the game must be neglected, even if it ruins the game experience of other players. (not saying this is the case here, but people act like it.)

-Every build deals massive damage, be it with dagger, sword, shortbow (haven’t seen much pistol thieves). Even autoattacks alone are powerful enough to kill someone.
-They don’t need to spec defensively, stealth has got enough defense and you can pretty much run away from every fight with ease.
-They have the most annoying downed state. Want to stomp a thief? With no matter how many people you are, they can always pull of a teleport, AND a stealth, letting it take waay longer than needed to kill someone. And if you say, just start dpsing, well it takes longer to kill a downed thief with attacks than it takes to kill me (an elementalist) in my normal state.
-They can pretty much decide which battle they want to fight. It’s mostly useless to chase down a thief when he decided he doesn’t want to fight anymore.
-He can escape very large groups with ease.
-All elite skills are good, too good. In dagger storm they wreck groups, thieves guild wrecks single targets and lets them 1vsmany. Basilisc venom can be annoying, but it’s good as an elite. (I wouldn’t necessarily want them to nerf these, but buffing other classes’s elites should be better, at the moment only the 2 overpowered classes have the best elites, as well as the best downed state and many other things (coincidence?))
-Killing another class in les than 2 seconds is over the top. The element of surprise is too big to do something most of the time. Unless you’re paranoid and start walking with your back against walls all the time.
Now how do I suppose thieves would respond:
-Play better
-Use your team better
-Dodge
-Use stunbreakers
-A thief is quickly killed
-You’re a whiner, thieves are fine (please don’t let anet nerf my thief which fulfils my lack of power over lesser beings in real life)
I will already respond in this post:
-I am in the process of getting better, and I see improvement vs other classes, only vs thieves it remains hard.
-If it takes a whole team to kill 1 thief, than that says enough about the state of thieves.
-I only have 2 dodges, a thief can keep resetting the fight, keep spamming abilities more than I can dodge.
-I have 2 stunbreakers on my bar, but they have a large cooldown, and guess what, they can still control you after the stunbreaker because yet again, they can reset the fight, spam abilities. Also, don’t be selfish and think that every class needs to have stunbreakers especially for thieves, there are some good players who do well with other classes.
-The only time a thief loses a fight is because he doesn’t know what he’s doing or his utilities are on cooldown and he isn’t wielding daggers or shortbow.
-Thieves are not fine at the moment and it isn’t hard to realize it.
I don’t want arenanet to nerf the thief to complete uselessness. Just tone down some mechanisms. If they want purely dps spec, then fine, but escape and defense has to scale with it as well. Want a controlling build, only with toned down damage.
Lastly, a thief was my main character, but I had it so immensely easy in pvp I made the elementalist my main. Talk about difference. It’s more fun though but it’s like playing with a constant damage and defense handicap.
Thanks for reading, I did not mean to offend anyone and if I did, I’m sorry. Also this post was made to vent a bit of frustrations I keep having every match.

I feel your pain.
I try to not get hit by that.
mistform.
focus earth 5.
arcane shield.
dagger air 5Ele can move. I dont mean that in a negative way. i mean they can move around really well.
Warrior isn’t the least mobile profession as well, I would rank them mid high.
All downstates are flawed, but elementalist’s is more flawed than others.
Lol are they really complaining about elementalist’s only viable spec?
Burst builds like all thief’s builds need to go, they burst right through the bunker.
Ok thanks! /15char
Greetings,
In the order of whispers hq at lion’s arch, you can enter a little cave/sewer system that leads to an underground cave filled with boat wrecks. I can’t find anything else there but the wrecks, no exit or anything else. Is it just that?
I do wonder what this magically unkillable, ungodly dps build is :/
Does fire aura only work when mobs hitting you? Doesn’t say so in tooltip.
How do you know on which team you are then? If you look at the nodes and they are blue/red and you can’t remember your team color..
They will be dominated by thief/mesmer, so no, I don’t want it.
Need more explaining about build and gear.
I’m gonna copy this here:
I (as an elementalist) was attacked by another elementalist and he used tornado.
Is it always such low damage? he did like 200 damage per blow and the blow was every 3 seconds. I was still full hp after his tornado because I regenerated faster.
How is this an elite?
For 50 levels I’ve been using my staff or dagger dagger, as well as in spvp. I then tried scepter and a focus (and with dagger combinations), but I’m finding it hard to see it work. It hasn’t got the damage and mobility as dagger or staff, so where do you use it and how?
Thanks.
I would like to see a roamer build, so I can implement it in my ele gameplay.

Hmm I’ve been thinking about it, and I should indeed swap warrior with another profession. I’ll have to edit my post.
Thief, mesmer, guardian. Exactly in that order.
If you want to win fights, be it very cheap, choose a profession of this trinity.
The community knows which professions are the (overpowered) flavor at the moment, they are really depicted in the matches (even though they are random non tournament pugs, not everyone plays tournaments). People aren’t that dull to know what’s best.
This picture below is how the community reacts to the balance of order at the moment. Most are thief/mesmer.

Still, elementalist has very few viable builds, I only have 1 if I want to last longer than a burp. And that’s with all weapons. Can’t spec damage because I die with 2 hits, damage could be good though. I’m shooting my foot if I don’t spec arcane, faster attunement recharge is absolutely necessary. If I play other classes like thief or mesmer, you can notice the different builds across the talents, but with elementalist you cannot.
They still need a lot of buffs, and honestly a complete trait rework as there is no synergy.
(edited by Burrid.4739)
Hmm so I made my thief a backstab damage spec.
It occurs to me I can’t even get half of the damage these renowned thiefs seem to put out. I have everything in power, precision, damage, critical damage. 15 stacks of might before backstabbing, behind target, and still only 6k damage.
Now I don’t want this build as my main is an elementalist, but how are you getting that high numbers :/
Roll an elementalist.
j/k, but no it’s true, at the moment.
Yea! God forbid thieves having to press more than 2 buttons to win!
Unless something is done about backstab, consider this: when a thief stealths, other players should be instantly teleported to the thief player behind the computer to hit him in the face before he kills you in 0.02 seconds.

Greetings,
I play an elementalist in pvp, and although I’m not satisfied with it, what do other professions think about it? For one I think everybody sees a downed elementalist as a free kill. But have you ever met any superb ele? Ever avoid combat with an ele? Ever think oh poop, an elementalist is coming for me?
(edited by Burrid.4739)
Anyone else got this when you start whirpool or tornado, after 1 second you’re back in normal mode? Can some profession interrupt our elite? :/
