Why do people even make videos of this and post it on official forums where every fun skill or method gets nerfed and normalized until every profession has the same skills with different particle effects.

Doing thesis work. I’m thankful such a big dump was taken on my 2 favorite classes. I was slightly addicted and this hampered my work. Now I can finally turn on my pc with no urge to play.

Does the whirlwind steal reflects projectiles?

I like almost all the steals, they’re mostly a very beefed up skill. I like throw junk and death blossoming in it. I like the ranger tree because it heals me massively. I like the necromancer’s fear because it’s longer than his fear. I like steal because it teleports me and i like teleporting. It gives me vigor, might, quickness and fury. It steals 2 boons from the enemy, which is very useful vs stability. Just strip the stability and interrupt plague, dancing daggers and other stuff.

I like steal.

With my elementalist I wouldn’t do so. Also thief has better mobility, and I like going fast.

With perma-swiftness, teleport, and RtL I feel like I’m zipping all over the place on my Ele. Thief’s gotta be insane!

Yes elementalist got better speed than most, but it still feels slow when coming from my thief. Depends a bit on your build though, I like maximum speed so I build to it.
Steal and dodge rolls almost give me permanent swiftness, but it’s heartseaker that is such a great area coverer. If you spam it, you will go faster than perma speed, and I can spam it with my increased initiative, initiative recharge and initiative gain traits.
This and a shadowstep every 50 seconds give me very fast area coverage.
Also infiltrator’s arrow can sometimes bridge great distances in height.

Ha and a last thing. I can travel a great distance underwater with the roll back heal and roll back utility. It seems like a distance of 2000 and 1000.

I feel less anxious with my thief than with my elementalist. With the thief, I can just run into enemy areas and pass by their forts without worrying. With my elementalist I wouldn’t do so. Also thief has better mobility, and I like going fast.

If someone asked you to define a thief what would you say in 144 chars or less? Now I know its a fantasy game and not meant to be real life but play a long.

My definition – A Criminal, someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goal. No morals or ethics. A bad guy. A outlaw.

My thief is a hero not a criminal. He is born into nobility and recognized as honorable. He’s a good guy and part of society.

But that doesn’t mean he can’t dress in black at night and hunts bad guys.

I have exactly the same story for my thief hah!
I’d like the thief more to be a control character.

It always remained hard for me.
Not sufficient damage to kill anything fast, dying extremely quick, and actually was quite boring. I had to search other means to level up.

Mass of players, how to select right target?

While this problem occurs often, I mostly have the annoyance with high npc summoning players.
Normally I just tab to the right target, but when there is a horde of players, with one or more mesmers, minionmasters or thief guilders, I seem to lose track and tab doesn’t do it’s job anymore. I would then manually select a player, but it’s not always correctly and I would have to stand still to get a view of all the players.

So is there any better way?

I tried condition build with thief and elementalist as well, but conditions get cleansed quite fast.

Every class gets pidgeonholed in certain builds with little room for change.

What if that lvl 1 was playing alt acct and his main was actually 20-30, in that case the mmr is working. How many lvls 1’s would start by solo joining lol

If main is lvl 20, then his alt is lvl 20.

Hate it. Previous version looked like an Air elemental, not a Lightning Crab Elemental. Don’t know whose bright idea was this, especially since it is a waste of time better used elsewhere.

Why does it need to look like air? Would you rather have a fire as a fire elemental, a piece of ice or a rock as ice or earth elemental?

Because it is an Air elemental? Fire elemental looks like a fire elemental, Earth is animated rock, Water is animated ice and Air is an animated lightning crab.

There is literally a ton of ways to make the old orb have more character without turning it into a crustacean. Would you like to have the Earth elemental look like an Eagle made of rock? This makes as much sense.

They did it this way because it was the quickest. It’s a slap-job. No new animations, no new models, they just reused what they already had and glued it together. As I said, lazy, unnecessary, and the results are sub-par.

I fail to see your connection.
It is more like a lightning scorpion, than a crustacean. And that’s more comprehensible as scorpions attack lightning fast. It is indeed a quick job, but it looks better than an orb.

I did some pvp and encountered a staff elementalist (I’m d/d mobility survival, but can do 4-5k fire grabs, churning earths), and I couldn’t move his hp bar, no matter how much I pounded. Couldn’t stop him either, no cc worked. He was carrying the orb at spirit watch and just slowly walked toward the point without losing any hp.

I’m not quite familiar with all builds, but was this a famous bunker build?

Oh, and to add, he didn’t use any skills, was just sitting in water and hp kept regenerating very fast. Also, he was alone, I was alone.

The tooltip of super speeds says you run at double speed. But you don’t run any faster than a 33% speedbuff, so double speed = times 1.3 speed?

I keep coming back to the forums to see some change, but there never is any (apart from bad changes). I guess a part of me still lingers to play guild wars 2, which is not surprising as I was hyped for years and I was going to play for years. But after less than 3 months it’s already done. I wish they had taken another direction, but it’s their game after all.

Haven’t played gw2 in two weaks because I’ve been very busy.
I was hoping this patch would do some good to elementalists as this was the first big bug fixing patch of the game. I read and was disappointed. I see little reason to get back to gw2 now. But oh well, I’ve already lost the desire to play.

I specced my necro full power/crit in pvp. Must say I’m having a blast!
Life blast crits for 4-5k, and it almost always crits. Dagger autoattack crits for 3k every 3rd attack. Everything does high damage, granted it’s not over 6k instant damage, but it’s very sustained damage with high number and actually very good survival. High base hp and death shroud are a good defense.

And you know, together with signet of malice, a thief can’t be killed during those 8 seconds. You can say: yea but if you go melee they are a sitting duck.. NONSENSE!

Me and a team mate just got a thief to low hp, he popped dagger storm together with his passive signet of malice and his hp got so fast to full I couldn’t believe it :/

Tornado is to melee as Dagger Storm is to ranged. Double the recast but also double duration. And you get nifty skills to use while in tornado mode such as an AoE blind.

Fiery Greatsword is also pretty kitten

Have you ever played with or against an elementalist with tornado?

So with tornado I can do 800 damage every 3 seconds for 14 seconds. That’s 3200 damage in 14 seconds, so 230dps. My autoattack hits for around 1000 every second, so that’s 1000dps.
This 230dps however is when I can actually catch the target. The radius of tornado is 230 range, so most of the time a second hit doesn’t go off because I’m not at my target’s location fast enough.
Granted, it is an aoe, but the radius is terribly small and if you knock foes back, they are scattered, so you can only target 1 anymore. Also, we don’t get a reflect projectiles, so whenever you see a tornado, it’s an easy target. Defenseless and powerless… (also it never seems to crit).

My thief with the same stats as my elementalist, hits for 500-1000(crit) damage every second, 8 seconds long. Plus it gives 8 bleeds of 250 damage each. So averagely I do 8k damage in 8 seconds or 1000dps. However, the elite cripples targets, has a very high radius, even has projectile reflection and hits unlimited targets.

How do these 2 even compare? Tornado is a joke. I was taking a point at kyhlo and another elementalist started attacking me, he casted tornado and literally I was only getting 200 damage every 3 second, if it even hit me (most of the time it didn’t). My hp was untouched at the end because I regenerated faster. Of course I just killed him, he was helpless…

The fiery greatsword is less usefull indeed, but not that great. Autoattack does as much as my normal autoattack. Can be used to charge someone I guess, and for an extra meteor shower.

Greetings
After the latest patch there were a lot of newly opened topics on profession forums mentioning a change not written down in the update notes. Topics and bug reports were made but left unanswered, all but two in the thieves forum. It was said the change was implemented but wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes.
It is certainly possible they forgot to mention it, but other professions have these semi obvious changes as well. This quantity of unaddressed changes, the fact that we barely get any answers and that it’s covered by saying it’s a small error of forgetfulness raises questions with me.

Can we have any word of it? Is it still possible some of these changes are bugs? Or are they permanent?

I’m playing an agility, trickery, shadow arty thief right now and I must say those are challenging. Damage is actually low and survivability mediocre, but I feel it’s more rightuous.

Well I’m trying necromancer now, as elementalist, and boy do I miss my skills.
Whenever I’m low hp and used my heal I keep searching for water attunement but I don’t have it. When I want to escape I keep hitting ride the lightning, but it’s gone.
Whenever I get pinned down by multiple mobs I want my mist form.
Necromancer seems harder!

Sorry, I should have told I meant it in spvp, as I like to do that.

But really, I thought most skills were pretty useless when I played my necromancer about a month ago. I thought weakness and other conditions were too weak to use. But after getting to know the game better with my elementalist, 10 seconds of weakness on off hand dagger is huge! That’s a lot of damage reduction.

I always like to play the underdog class (that’s why my main is an elementalist, got some buffs now and are actually good if you know the class).
I think I’ll play a bit more on my necro, I like to turn boons into conditions :p

Greetings,

Just switched from my elementalist to my necromancer (after a considering amount of time has lapsed) and is the combat always this stationary?
With elementalist I’m constantly running around, constantly switching attunements.
But with necro I’m not getting that feeling. It’s hard to run around and start placing tags on the floor, and for a conditionweapon, scepter stacks slowly. Can’t seem to chase enemies or catch them if they run away. I myself can’t run away as well.

Is it normal like this? The welcome to the necromancer normal?
Or am I missing something?

Ok, everyone that is saying RTL was changed, did you just come back to the class because of the recent patch? If so, maybe it was like this for a while and you just don’t recall.

I’ll check again tonight and I’m sure I’ll see a difference immediately (I use RTL in every fight)… but last night it was fine.

Some of you elementelists may have noticed ride the lightning behaving more strangely.
It no longer zaps you forward while going completely down when the skill ends. Now you just fall down and ride further on the ground.

Is this intended? If so, why isn’t it in the patch notes?

I tested it… Indeed, straight line to the ground. It is not even mentioned in the notes.
This nerf overshadows other buffs, time to shelve elementalist, at least untill my displeasure ends :/

Is it gone? Can’t seem to leave a match like that anymore, nor the mists as well.
Intended? It was nice to return to you original place after going to the mists.

Edit: oh the tab in the hero panel is just gone. In mists and outside of it, that’s why there are so few players doing pvp.

Awesome changes, all but one, my air pocket!
I really loved it in the capricorn pvp map. Right before leaving the water I casted air pocket and I would teleport up in the air on land.
Oh well, guess you can’t have it all.

You can rush to 80 in a week, or you can take your time and level slowly, like me.
Doesn’t mean lvl 80s need to be privileged, even if it’s only with 1 item.

It’s not fair to do these things with situational events.
