This thread is getting interesting.
We have ppl saying BG is dead, JQ is dead and then we have DB folk hijacking the thread.
How about the dudes from TC who can never seem to let go of BG?
Pretty bummed out about the 1v1 I had with a Charr Guardian from BG. We dueled from SoRBL north camp to somewhere around the centaurs northeast.
We dueled for about 5 minutes or so. Managed to down him and was about to stomp him when he disappears all of a sudden. No bag, nothing.

Opo. My former guild [Totn]/[Hel] used to be from IoJ.

While we’re at it, you know, involving the entire server with the hacking and exploiting by a few people, can JQ please stop your guardians from leap of faith-ing into our towers?
Also, where is this 80+ man SoR zerg? I want in.
WvW isn’t about killing, it’s about territory. It’s about obtaining, building, and defending territory. If you are going to WvW expressly to kill things, then you might be missing the spirit of WvW. Try sPvP as I think you’ll like it more.
….Oh wait, does thinking about what another may enjoy more make me Carebear too??? Oop’s! ;-) haha
I see you are a proud member of your server’s elite WvW PvD Division.
and you need siege for PvE why??? The OP post didnt make any sense to me.
That said, asking if a mesmer is porting is just lazy. Just go look.
JUST GO LOOK.
/thread
Wanted to ask if it’s really worth doing anymore. I have noticed drops in WvW are by far the crappiest in the game. 5 hours in WvW and you might be lucky to get one rare or exotic, while 5 hours in pve you can get 8 or more. Also noticed that it use to take an hour to get into WvW on any of the 4 maps, though now you are can get in instantly.
Want to improve WvW make it where you get a rare from taking towers and keeps atleast once per day(just like the world bosses). Bet alot more people will take part in WvW then.
PvEers please stay out of WvW, literally watch a group of 20-30 pwoplw ignore the commander so they could kill the overgrown grub for a few badges -_- Stop it, go back to your boring PvE….
QFT
The hardcore WvW guilds are still gonna be running their raids. PUGs are gonna be all over the map chat asking where their favorite guild to run with is.
You’ve forgotten how to do CoF p1.
Or maybe have the top half show the XP bar and the bottom half show the WXP bar. Or vice versa.
There’s a thread in reddit that gives more suggestions.

I hope ANet looks at this and actually implement it in the future.
Shout-out to the Blackgate Axe/Axe Warrior from ARMA guild that I had a duel with southwest of Hills in BGBL. Good fight (he won.lol).
BG garrison tonight was crazy! Did anyone see the double Keep Lord battle in Garrison lords room? The lord glitched out and spawned a new one while the other was still alive and they fought to the death!
fun times with choo in hills on bg bl just a bit ago too
LOL. Did you guys see the trebs we built on the southwest of Garrison to take out the guys on the third floor. Funny as hell.
Awesome fights with iCoa and SF in BG garrison earlier today. That garrison flipped a bunch of times.
Loot bags are OP and need to be nerfed.
They do massive damage to my emotions. It just ain’t fair.
Call.
Thanks a bunch ANet! Was getting sick and tired of getting spikes from enemy players.
I think I saw the rat chasing the cat one time.
Is this a subtle recruiting message ? xD
lol. Sadly, someone beat Dia to it.
Also from the Philippines and I apparently have the same problem as you guys. I can’t do anything aside from moving around and enemies either stand there or repeat their animations. Travel by waypoint? Isn’t happening.
It all started Feb 12, even before the maintenance update. I’ve been playing the game fine before then and now it just is unplayable.
I already sent a support ticket about this and I’m still waiting for their reply.
For my kababayan: I’m on Skycable (Metro Manila) and I’m on Borlis Pass.
I’m using Skycable Broadband too. The lag issues also happened to me on Feb 12/Tuesday. I really wonder if certain ISPs need to upgrade/change/fix something in their side to get rid of the lag issues when connecting to Anet’s servers. Although I doubt this theory too because I have no trouble surfing the web and playing other online games.
Reinstalling the game doesn’t work too.
Same thing from the philippines same ISP skycable broadband….. they even came to change my modem please fix this so i can get back to owning everyone in wvw.
Even up to now, nothing has changed on the connectivity issues. I’m gonna call Sky Broadband’s Tech Support and see if they changed something on their side this week. I find it weird that there’s a sudden ip packet lost (100%) whenever I connect to GW2.
Worse-case scenario, I might try switching to a different ISP. Most of my guildmates play in the Philippines too and they never had connectivity issues like this. Although it’s just a hunch that certain ISPs are really the problem.
I’m also from the Philippines, use SkyBroadband and have been having connection issues since around Feb 12. Before that, my connection has been solid ever since launch. I sincerely doubt that our ISP is at fault here considering others all over the world have been having the same issue since roughly the same time (i.e. last scheduled maintenance of ANet that took down the servers for about 4 hours). It’s most likely imho, that whatever it is they did there caused this and I sincerely hope ANet is taking a look in that area.
Please fix this ANet because this game is unplayable as it currently is for us.
I just forced myself to do dungeons today, despite the lag, in order to meet the monthly achievement requirements. It was a completely appalling experience. I froze twice at 2 crucial points when the team was depending on everyone’s participation. I had to bail after the second time after apologizing to the team because I knew I was nothing but a liability at that point. There’s no way I can meet the monthly achievements now.
Whatever changes ANet made at Feb 12 really upset me. The connection between my ISP (SkyBroadband in the Philippines) and their servers is no longer optimal and no one has a clue as to where the fix/adjustments should happen. I am disheartened and am losing my fondness for this game.
ANet, please prioritize this issue.
I filed a ticket and Anet blamed it on my ISP which is Skybroadband (Philippines). Game has become unplayable since February 12. Disconnects and lags galore, whatever time I tried. Now I know that I am not alone with this problem.
I just got this issue literally a few minutes ago. I’m on Smart Broadband. Game is totally unplayable.
In my experience, it will definitely be the Guardian. When traited and used properly, they can be the best support class in the game whether it be PvE or WvW (I don’t do much sPvP, sorry! ><)
A well coordinated team in WvW with an excellent support Guardian can break zergs and demoralize enemies through well placed CC. Their heals are also amazing. Nothing beats seeing your health bar all of a sudden fill up when your self-heal skill is still cooling down.
If you guys are using VoiP (TS3, Vent, Mumble), then this shouldn’t be a problem.
As for the randoms following you around, you just have to work around them. If you send 4 dudes to clear out guards and see a random going with them, call 1 of your guys off.
No queue times for SoR GMT+8.
Another thread about someone QQing about PvPing in a PvP zone. IDEK.
IBTL.
RIP ro all the lost siege blueprints thrown away by PvEers cheesing JPs for badges. :’(
I see.
Thanks for the fast reply guys.
Educate me on the fun factor of PvE
I’ll start off by stating that I’m more of a WvW person. I dislike PvE (when it comes to MMOs, I don’t have a problem with Sim City, The Sims 3, and so on… excluding Tractor Simulator) and try to avoid it as much as I can.
Unfortunately, PvE is essential for WvWers to not go totally bankrupt. We can argue why it should or shouldn’t be essential for WvWers in another thread. That being said, I’ve already saved up enough gold to buy my Commander’s Compendium.
Every time I venture in the PvE zones, I just start getting bored/annoyed. I truly don’t understand what’s the appeal in PvE.
Farming is the only viable way to make money in this game, i use the words ‘make money’ loosely here, and are just plain boring. There’s no point in doing daily events since it will just restart/reset in a matter of a few minutes. Crafting constitutes of having a number of materials which you have to farm, which barely sell for anything, while the rest play the trading post and stand there, all the while manipulating the markets. There’s no sense of epic-ness to it at all.
Steady performance on a Mid-high end system. Guess not putting everything at high stops me from complaining that much, but hey, I’m able to pull everything up to Ultra in BF3 with no problem (yes i know it’s Frostbite 2 which gives better graphics fidelity even without a killer video card), while GW2 WvW manages to go as low as 10-15fps, which is fine by me since I love the feeling of diving in the zergs and the fps drop just raises the ‘oh kitten’ factor for me.
Then there’s the whole culling issue… I know ANet stated that there’s a new culling/LOD system that’s coming, but i doubt that’ll fix the performance issue. I’m pretty sure if I were given the chance to, I can make a game work perfectly and flawlessly.
Then there’s the whole class imbalance issues, but that’s why I made a thief alt that I level almost exclusively in WvW just to see what the fuss is all about.
So can someone explain to me why they like PvE so much and what’s fun about it for them?
Enlighten me please.
My friend is getting a copy of the game soon and I was wondering if he is able to join in the same server as me. Currently my server is listed at full during peak times which is sadly, the only times we are able to play.
My question is, does the server status only affect the people wanting to transfer? Like, the server may have 500 or so slots free in case new accounts decide to join the server, but still says full to those wanting to transfer from other servers.
Only a WvW player would use an open gate tower defense for their guilds ‘revenue raising’
Or in this case, a broken wall

Only a WvW player thinks badges are for siege and Invader Weapons/Armor/Trinkets. Gift of Battle? What the f… do you use that for?
Wait did you guys transfer because you were offered chicks?
Nope. We definitely don’t have a shortage of women in the guild. One of our raid leaders is one as a matter of fact.

vapor/Isaak is one of our guild leaders in Helioz [Hel] and we are now in SoR.
As for the preceding posts, I would like to say something as a member of the guild. In no way is this the stand of the guild as a whole but merely my personal opinion on the matter.
Helioz (formed by members of Totenreich and Sanctum) is a WvW focused guild and thrives on strategic WvW PvP. That said, the guild had lots of fun working with the other WvW guilds in IoJ.
However, the past few weeks, the guild has suffered greatly due to the majority of the server’s population being PvEers. While to some extent trying to bring in the PvEers into WvW was successful, it simply was not enough to keep the coverage up around the clock. It also did not help that some of the PvEers in the server flat out didn’t care about WvW, majority of the said PvEers citing the lack of rewards in relation to the effort they are asked to put in for WvW as a major factor. That on top of the announcement of the end of the free server transfers, and IoJ being called the unofficial PvE server, the guild had to make a choice.
It was frustrating for us for the most part to have an operation at another BL only to be called back to our home BL because the defenders need help, or at times, there were no defenders at all and we’d have to re-cap a majority of our BL back. And this happens not just once but twice or even thrice during our official raid time.
Don’t get me wrong, IoJ has a great community albeit a PvE one. There is only so much a few guilds can do that can keep IoJ in tier 3, much more to go up the ranks.
One of our guild leaders and former server guilds coordinator of IoJ held a meeting in TS with the majority of NA WvW guild leaders in regards to the guild’s decision to transfer (I was in the channel listening). Although a few of those in the meeting didn’t like, most of the leaders respected our decision.
That said, Helioz has now transferred to SoR, and reiterating what Isaak said, we were approached by SoR and not the other way around. And glad to say, as a WvW guild, we are having a grand time in SoR. The fights we’ve been having are great. And as a WvW guild, that was all that mattered. People talk about server loyalty all the time, but ultimately it all comes down to our enjoyment of the game and for the past few weeks, guild wasn’t enjoying it anymore.
Regarding the original post. Do I think it was timed poorly? Definitely. It could’ve been posted earlier when most of the Janthir Alliance was still intact and fighting. Naysayers will say what they want but that is out of our hands.
Lastly, best of luck and thank you Isle of Janthir.

I know this is a WvW recruitment thread, but I am very curious and interested in checking out the RPing community over there. Might hop on over for a day once guesting goes live.
Good luck!
Currently have Crest of the Soldier on all my armor pieces and thinking of switching them out to Runes of the Dolyak. I just want to clear it up before I start spending all my gold.
Crest of the Soldier gives:
+20 Power
+14 Toughness
+14 Vitality
And when you multiply that by 6, I get a total of +120 Power, +84 Toughness, and +84 Vitality.
For the Superior Rune of the Dolyak the stats are:
(1): +25 Toughness
(2): +15 Vitality
(3): +50 Toughness
(4): +35 Vitality
(5): +90 Toughness
(6): Gain Health Regeneration
So, my question is, if I have all 6 runes on my armor pieces do I get a total of +165 Toughness +50 Vitality and Gain Health Regeneration, or just +90 Toughness, +35 Vitality and Gain Health Regeneration.
I know it’s a very noob question, and I’ve been playing for months and this thing has always bothered me. Thanks in advance for your answers!
If they remove badges, what will I use to buy my lovely ballistas?
Also, you most probably will die a lot if you wear MF armor in WvW.
Niim, find Helioz from around 7pm EST to 12am. You’ll find what you’re looking for.
I have fought Helioz a fair bit, I stand by my statement.
We’ll still be waiting.
They’re battle hardened and they fight for every last keep, every last dolyak.
Many servers like to say they never give up. None have proven it like IoJ has.
Sorry, do not see that on the battle field. I will look harder though.

We’ll be waiting Niim.
Option to remove the generic team color dyes and show the actual player’s dye setup.
You can actually do this now. I think it came with the Wintersday patch.
Just wanted to stop by and give props to CD and FA for giving us good fights earlier today. My guild decided that since CD already has a good 10k lead over us and tomorrow’s reset time, we’d just go around FABL and look for skirmishes, and basically do some good ol’ PvP.
My favorite would be the big fight in Greenvale Refuge where there would be a nonstop stream of FA and some CD pushing into the camp.
Cheers from Helioz-IoJ.
EDIT:
Also, score update:
Play a thief up to at least level 35. Then use what you know about them to try and counter what they try to do.
I have done this a bunch of times. I buy siege with badges, upgrade them to superior, then drop them so that my guild raid leaders can pick ’em up. I do this because they know the best places to place siege better than I do.
Are there any other uses for these aside from making Legendary weapons? I was planning on making Twilight but there seems to be a lot of people who already own it. Not fancying any other Legendary weapon at the moment.
I think WvW really needs to offer better rewards than what it currently does. I came from another MMO which had most, if not all the crafting resources in the main battlegrounds. I think if the devs implement something similar, then we might be able to get more PvErs into WvW.
I’d make another warrior if they make Tengu as a playable race. I imagine my Tengu warrior doing hundred blades.
@yakizashi: I love how that Samurai Sylvari turned out. Good one!
Here’s my Human Warrior. Still thinking of switching some armor parts out.
Update to my Warrior
