I don’t think you should go on the server you are facing at that moment to “steal” their members. To me it’s kind of low and gives a bad impression about all of the Blacktide players. As if we are trying to convert the enemy to join us…

If you want to do this, do it on servers we are not facing at the moment, there are enough servers out there. Maybe try it in lower tiers if you really want to recruit players?

He’s DkR’s commander, and I’m DkR’s leader. We moved to Blacktide in October along with our allies CIR, ThUn, INT and HRSY and helped the server get from tier 4 to tier 1. After winning tier 1, many of our members (and apparently much of the server and/or game) started to lose interest. Tog is just shopping for recruits at the moment.

DkR are staying on Blacktide, if you have seen anyone from DkR on desolation its someone thats probably just checking out the pve scene then making a stop off in WvW

I think it’s way too slow. I once had a battle with someone underwater for like 20 minutes and it just kept going. Eventually we just both gave up (joined parties and started chatting). We both went down a few times, but all you have to do is kill some mobs and you rally. And there being no stomp and you being able to move while downed makes it even more pointless.

If you would do more damage underwater or something to make it more fast-paced it would be more fun. But as it is now it just looks to me like they put it in just for the sake of being able to do skills underwater.

Maybe I’m missing PvE value, but I wouldn’t know; I don’t do PvE

Interesting fights for Bay at Deso BL btw a few hours ago. 10-11 Nugos, few GF and pugs vs IRON. Wiped eachother a few times. I really enjoy the balance this matchup.

Would be awesome if we could defend SM whole night. I don’t really see it happening but we’ve had it since the early morning. Many are gone now so we’ll see how it goes. Almost completely upgraded. Been quite nice today, although people clearly consider supply camps obsolete. Finding even a single person for them is impossible.

Why would a thief-player explain step-by-step how to counter a thief? Do you want more people to be able to kill you? :P I wouldn’t explain how to counter my ele. Figure it out by yourself lol (shouldn’t be so hard anyway)

But yeah what I mainly do with thieves is make sure they are immobilized somehow and then pop as much dmg onto that location as possible. Works most of the time.

I think my vote for the EU bracket would go to Far Shiverpeaks.

Even though they are like #19 right now, they held up with Vizunah in T1 for a really long time compared to any other server that ever got into T1 to fight Vizunah. And a lot of the old FSP players are in servers that are now in T1 and T2.

The fights were fun while it lasted =)

The word “insane” was used in a complimentary way, just like how “wow, that’s sick” doesn’t mean that whatever you’re talking about is actually sick/ill/diseased. I was simply saying it was incredible. It’s people like you who make me want to take the compliments back and who let other people depreciate VS’s work. You might not even realize that.

Let me try to clarify one more time. I will not believe any claim by non-VS players of there being organized Canadians on VS until concrete evidence is presented. There are enough commanders out there, but there are only a few I would follow no matter what.

I don’t care if I die, as long as it’s not for nothing. I’m not going to die for a commander I think doesn’t know what he’s doing. If I know a certain commander is good and he tells us it’s going to be a kamikaze mission I will do it no questions asked.

Yes you are right but it’s still annoying to see nonsense about yourself. BT was been accused to have oversea players and we haven’t believed that because we know who are our opponent. That’s why, You are considered by us as the most powerful server have been in T1 since the game release because we know that you are mostly EU and Russians. You know how much sacrifice and dedication T1 cost when you don’t have oversea people.

For obvious reasons of equity and fairplay in WvW.
We are on EU ladder, it’s not multi-timezone like US ladder. That’s why this timezone problem does not exist their homes but here.
A person who joined friends is acceptable, but an massive migration that has the sole purpose of crushing easily the T1 is not.

I understand, but if people didn’t pay attention to the regions (or if there wasn’t any NA/EU server distinction) then more EU guilds would be playing on NA servers and more NA guilds would play on EU servers. So it would probably balance out better.

- So no:

[EU] Seafarer’s Rest
[NA] Sea of Sorrows
[NA] Sanctum or Rall

- But instead, just:

Why would it matter if there were non-EU players on EU servers? I know enough people that live in Europe and play on NA servers. I don’t see anyone here cry about that.

Why would you discriminate people based on where they live and want to play? Maybe you don’t like to play with people from all over the world and just want to play with the people in your own little bubble, but that doesn’t mean everyone should be forced to do the same thing.

If I want to play on an NA server and ANET hasn’t put in any restrictions for that then I should be able to do so. If there was a Japanese server in Gw2 and I would want to play with Japanese people, why would YOUR opinion of Japan stop ME from playing with them.

It’s like forcing french players to play only on french servers and Germans to play on German servers.

Xmas has nothing to do with it. It has been like this almost since the start of the game.

So much drama here.. I really liked the first week in T1 specially the last few days when VZ made a come back and we needed to actually work to keep up and win but this week (sure you can blame holidays) it’s plain boring since VZ just night caps everything till the morning wich makes it really boring to fight. During the day/evening the fights are really nice and it’s prette balanced (1 moment vz leads the next sfr). Now it just feels like different tiers again where 1 server leads and the other 2 just kitten about. Not sure if that’s fun for you guys but since wvw is 24/7 it’s totall valid.

I hope it’s true that this is just a holiday result if not I rather be in T2 or even in T3/T4 since having to actually fight and win/lose with a few k points is the most awesome thing imo.

Well I assume you have a decent amount of players in WvW right? BT has like 30-40 players total during the day. These 30-40 just hop between maps a little bit and during primetime we only have 1 map with a queue and 1 other with decent amount of players (no queue), all other maps are basically empty – maybe 2 players lol.

Nobody is playing atm. It’s just waiting for T2. It’s also due to holidays and a lot of people are on vacation.

I don’t care to go to T1, let Arborstone or Desolation go there lol.

I also think people are starting to quit GW2 because they realize it’s a yoyo-effect. VS is always in T1 and all other servers rise and fall hard, making place for other servers that rise and fall hard. It really wouldn’t surprise me if in 3-6 weeks SFR will be in the same position as BT is now and some other server will be where SFR is now and BT was before. Ofcourse the people on SFR now will be like “nehnehneh brag brag brag, we’re #1!!!! blabla” just like a lot of ppl on BT were doing as well. But when they see they’re losing power, some people will leave for another server and it happens all over again.

When you’re top position in T1, people can only leave, not join.

A good commander spends a considerable amount of time commanding and monitoring resources. And a good squad would do well to ensure the survival of their commander.

Sometimes me and a few others in my party just focus on the enemy commander. If you kill him you can break the enemy more easily lol. It’s kinda weird that often people don’t help their commander, they just let him die.

If you’re a squishy commander I think you’ll sometimes give your group the wrong impression. If you die easily, you’ll want to back off sometimes in a fight to heal, before going back in. The people following you might see this backing off as a retreat and they as well will back off, when maybe that’s not what you want them to do. And if you die you’ll confuse your allies. They will often not know what to do and start to scatter. The decision whether to push through and possibly die or back off and heal is harder in that situation.

It’s a little different if you’re on voice-chat with your group, but if you’re leading PUGs it’s probably a better idea to have a more tanky commander.

It depends on the situation, but in general you’re probably better off with a more tanky commander, although you can be a good commander without having a tanky character. I’ve seen them.

Not many queues on BT either lately (usually just 1 map, either EB or BT bl). There used to be short queues on every map few weeks back.

I wonder how it’ll go on new years eve hehe. I don’t think I’ll be playing much on that day… well atleast not at night lol…

The statement that only christians celebrate christmas isn’t true at all. The modern christmas holiday is a 99% secular holiday. It has almost nothing to do with the religion anymore. (christmas trees, santa, presents, turkey, etc etc). So yeah, even non-christians can celebrate the holiday with non-religious reasons (family, friends, being together)

Vizunah has like 75% of the maps atm and BT and SFR are about equal in points. Seems like France doesn’t celebrate Christmas…?

- We all know Vizunah is the most consistent server. Props for that, but you don’t have to remind us in every post. (And please don’t mention this “vizunah spirit” anymore… lol)
- Blacktide was strong and somehow lost power. Who cares. Move on and keep fighting.
- SFR came in pretty strong, so did Desolation and BT back in the day. Doesn’t mean you’ll stay there forever. Keep fighting for your 1st place or what happened to BT and FSP will happen to you as well and then the ppl that were bragging about SFR will look like complete idiots. I can imagine you don’t want that.

My problem with WvW is the fact that so many players brag about how good they or their servers are and how other servers cheat, but their own server is so perfect and whatnot.

It’s really annoying and only makes your server look like a bunch of kittens, rather than make your server look good.

This week server X is winning WvW, brag brag brag brag nonstop. 6 weeks later they’re #3 and all you hear is cheat this cheat that, break this, people leave, thiefs op, mesmer portal op, blablabla. same story over and over again. When does it stop, really.

I think ArenaNet could get volunteers for the forums. I know it seems a no-go to let players semi-moderate the forums, but I have seen another game-publisher do this and it worked really really well. At first the community wasn’t for it, but shortly after, they saw the benefits. It allows the real mods to focus on the more important topics on the forums while the volunteers answer what they know and are allowed to say. They also get to forward certain topics to the mods for review and stuff like that.

This way the community gets the feeling that ArenaNet is actually listening to them, rather than topics suddenly disappearing without a trace and having a moderator post half-answers once every 1000 pages of topics.

But they should never let people apply, they have to choose the mods themselves and invite them to the program. Let them sign NDA’s to keep them in check and prevent them from spilling info that shouldn’t be leaked.

There’s a lot more to it than this, but cba to post all the details if the chance of them actually doing it (or reading this thread) is smaller than being hit by an asteroid.

I used to spend badges on siege, but since I don’t really need to buy siege anymore…

I agree with the idea that they should remove badges from the puzzles and leave the blueprints in.

Isn’t the drop rate for kills like this?:
- You have to hit a mob at least once (or at least 1000 damage? not sure) for a chance to get loot. You won’t always get loot.
- Then the badges of honor (like any other item) also have a drop rate.

So if the chance for loot bags is 50% per kill (example) and badges of honor is also 50%, then basically the chance for getting badges for a kill is only 25%. Although it seems like the chance to get them is around 10% overall….

Seriosly, is the dead guy spying your chat or something? He is hardly going to give away valuable intel lmao.

They can relay info about trebs or golems being built. Or which direction your group is heading at.

Once my guild took over Hills and we saw a dead player there for a pretty long time. We decided to build golems right on top of him. We were barely on our way to garrison and the server he was in came at us with full force to kill the golems. It was pretty obvious he told them.

The other annoying part is trying to loot when a lot of enemies around you are downed. It always shows “FINISH”.

And because of that stupid bug where you often can’t cancel a stomp/build/revive/repair/etc I don’t want to press F anywhere near enemies because I’m afraid I’ll get bugged again and die.

Seriously, that bug needs fixing. I don’t know how often I’ve died because I was reviving an ally, then tried to dodge away when someone attacked me and my character just wouldn’t stop reviving until it was downed.

And often enough I can’t go back to loot the bags because I have to stick with the commander (or I’ll die) or because it’s somewhere I can’t get back to easily.

But honestly the badges are useless to me. I have over 2000 of them in my bank doing nothing. Might as well just throw them away

really guys??? opening map when you die or burning the corpse. seriously guys your making the job of devs much harder with those suggestions. if it was me i would suggest the traditional blacking out screen. example enemy A dies from enemy B, enemy A has a few seconds to scout the area but its vision slowly blacks out until its completely he/she can no longer look out around his/her corpse. i think that is the best and the most easiest way of solving that issue, + this would make the job of the devs much easier rather than just creating a system of burning the bodies or opening the map after death.

Forcing map or blacking out screen is basically the same thing….

Basically:

If Player dies;
- Start delay timer 30000ms
- Open map / blackout screen

done

Only thing with the forcing map would be to disable the M key and the icon in the map that allows you to go back to the game.

But yeah burning the bodies? wtf. too much work for something so irrelevant
