Dancing Dagger only cripples for 3s; tooltip says 5s.
They will most likely add more weapons , so we will get more skills.
But adding + skills per weapon so we could select which ones we want? Dont think it will ever be implemented.
Really , for a guard it would already become much harder to balance … now imagine the hell the devs would see balancing ele.
I thought ANet threw balance out of the window. Give us ALL the skills/utilities; make gw2 fun already.
I’m confused, you’re saying you have to be ‘’good player’’ to beat an ‘’average player’’ as a BS Thief?
All they’re going to be nerfing is the ’’burst’’, and they said they’ll be compensating it with buffs in other areas.
My biggest concern is: by the time ANet inevitably higher some decent devs that fix how the attributes scale with the player, Backstab will have already have been nerfed.
I was expecting some under-geared, under-leveled noob stomping.
Sadly I was not disappointed
You need more than 350 people in your Pub rooms to become an esport. So, yes.
Just remove it. lol xD… jk, kind of, I can’t stand it and wouldn’t care if it was removed, in fact I’d be over the moon.
But I know they won’t, it just needs a huge revamp, by someone who knows what they’re doing.
Get rid of the pathing all together, like 90% of the pathing skills/abilities in this game fail, don’t hit or are broken. (still not fixed lol)
The skill should just act as if its hit someone from the side/back, so it benefits from side/back traits etc.
Increase the spawn time, and give them a higher chance to drop precursors, even just a little bit like ~0.02% instead of 0.00000000001%… Then I might actually go and do one of these ‘’WORLD EVENTS’‘. I’ve only done 1, and it was on launch day at level 10.
Prices will slightly drop for precursors, and people will actually have an incentive to do these Events; everyone’s happy.

looks great!!!1
+Crit Damage needs to be fixed before you touch backstab.
idk why i’m even posting, i can’t see myself playing this game for much longer, these devs are clueless.
great video! enjoyed it a lot.
You’d have to be really, really terrible to not be able to handle someone using dagger storm.
It’s a really an awful skill when you get down to it because not only are the daggers thrown in completely random directions, but you CAN NOT DODGE.
You CAN NOT DODGE through its entire duration.
A thief who gives up their mobility for any significant period of time is a blood smear on the ground.
actually you can dodge, it just cancels the ability.
@Zsymon hmm, not sure. I tested this just after release with a friend, we both went roughly the same speed when in combat. It however was just one quick test, just after release. I never extensively test it and it could have changed since that point. Be worth testing again, love to know the result.
you move faster with SoS in combat…
I can’t help but think that Emnity and Kijimea are the same person (or butt buddies)…
Bro, this video is absolutely terrible… and it’s funny because you think you’re some sort of MLG leet thief superstar.

‘’Glass cannon backstab dies in a second? Dont make me lol so hard plz. I play a a build like that and i assure you i do not even close to die in “a second”. I dont know what thiefs you were facing on. I can also just “lol” about the ppl who say that after the initial burst the thief is naked. Did you ever play a thief? Sorry but those tons of thief topics are amazing. So much whining and in the end almost none of you have an Idea of what a thief is really capable of.
If you feel better thinking that a thief dies in a second, ok do so and dont be suprised facing a good thief making you crazy with movement and good timing of skills like shadowstep etc. I posted already a video about this, i had so much amazing moments which i didnt record and in the end i dont care, it would be cool for myself but you guys will always say blabla. And i smile and let you to continue your blabla because i have the experience unlike some other ppl here. Especially you talk about spvp also, you cannot be serious, dying in a second lol. Even i have 14k hp i live much longer than others with 20k + and a good amount of toughness. I even have the guts to ressurect team members in shadow refuge and take my time because most of you dont even know how to counter the thief while using shadow refuge.

Do you think games like this in SPVP are possible if you die alot? The opponents wasnt that bad. Sadly most of the players dont even know how to play their class. I rarely face good eles or good warriors, if they are good they give me a really hard time but it is still possible to beat them. Guardians are very good against thiefs, mesmers are good but even those classes are often played so bad so dont always cry about thiefs, talking about being “OP”, talking about non stop 15k crits or downing you with spamming “2”. And reading things like “glass cannon dies in a second” just makes me smile alot Unbelievable. Hope you meet me ( Akuría ) in PvP and than lets see how much you know about glass cannons.’’

^ I was going to post the same thing, but I think he’s just answering the OP’s question, not referring to my post.
dude, you think that elementealist video shows skill, your argument is invalid for anything pvp related.
btw i’m deleting my posts, it’s derailing this thread.
rendering lag in spvp? ok, if you say so.
He could still HS you from stealth, and when it lands he will come out of stealth. Did he appear as soon as you were hit by HS?
If you use a Leap Finisher on a Smoke Field it stealths you. HS is a Leap.
You can still deal plenty of damage with a toughness spec. Sure, you won’t have the extremely high burst of the burst specced and geared players, but you can still be able to do damage just fine. And of course gear and spec are going to be playing a big role in how you perform. The same is true in any game, pretty much ever. It sounds like you are just wanting the ability to have a well rounded stat set while being able to perform like a specialized player. Can’t have your cake and eat it too. Although I don’t understand the point in having cake if you can’t eat it. Seems silly.
you totally misinterpreted my post.
the only way you can deal damage as a theif with a toughness spec is to put points/gear/runes towards power/crit/crit%/condition; you’re talking about a balanced build.
I’m talking about the mere fact that’s it actually possible to make a build that’s to extreme in one specific area… like Backstab builds (power/crit/crit%).
Again, the problem isn’t backstab, it’s just that pwer/crit/crit% is to strong. And it’s the same for every stat, they’re all to strong and they need to be toned down to half of their current value. This would make everything so much easier to balance
I don’t know, but this seems like a pretty obvious fix.

I posted a thread with math about skills a few minutes ago.
It’s apparent that armor makes a big difference, perhaps people will learn this at some point.Because if they nerf again I guarantee anyone with some toughness will be nigh unkillable.
I read your post, but the issue still lies that if you stack to much of one stat, which is toughness in this case, you’re just an unstoppable tank, that doesn’t deal any damage….
This is probably the best example because it trivialises everything about the class, it doesn’t really matter what skills/abilities you use, the only thing that’s making an impact on your playstyle is the stat you’re stacking (toughness).
(edited by Chakuna.6325)
Different weapon sets are built around different principles. They should inherently play differently, it’s about giving us the choice to play how we want. Speccing for your chosen play style should make you much better at it than if you were to be using another weapon setup. Respecs are cheap in this game, and that’s a good thing; it allows you to play around, find specs that you like and then find ways to make them even better. Naturally, gear and stats from your trait lines should of course make your overall performance much better if you are gearing properly for your chosen play style.
I’m pretty sure Anet intended to make every weapon ability viable for any build, or they wouldn’t have a mix of condition damage/direct damage/healing etc on the same weapon combos. It’s only the way that the gear/trait and rune stats are set up at the moment that force you to play 1 specific playstyle with a certain weapon combo. And in some cases it just makes a weapon set completely useless because you can’t abuse any of the stats your build has.
(edited by Chakuna.6325)
In my opinion the ’’stats’’ (gear/traits/runes) are just to powerful, they need to be toned down across the board to not instantly make your build a 1 trick pony if you’re just pumping up 1 certain stat.
For example, if you spec for 100% Condition damage as thief, this instantly makes S/P, S/D, P/P, D/P, and arguably D/D completely unviable.
The same goes for the full GC Backstab build, if you spec everything ito power and crit/crit%, this shouldn’t boost your direct damage abilties by 9001% and trvialise abilities like Death Blossom etc. It shouldn’t matter what stat your stacking up as much as you possibly can, every single weapon combo, AND every weapon abilty should still be usable/viable.
Anyway, my point is, if i want make a condition build, it should only increase its effectiveness by like 20% (for example). If I want to spec into Healing, my healing effectiveness should be increased by 20%, not kittening 500,000,000 percent and making every other abilty that’s not effected by healing complety useless.
Did i get my point across? lol :S
your thoughts.
Do you think a full berserker thief will die in 1,5sec to full berserker non-thief profession? No, it won’t. Nowhere close that time.
Actually I’ve been dropped by 1 whirlwind (whatever that warrior ability is) in WvW, i was hit for ~3500 4 times, i only have like ~12k hp in my full exotic berserker gear.
That’s 14k in less than 1.5sec, so…

I tried searching for the SB skin, and it’s not an exotic one… DOES ANYONE KNOW!!11? :]
There’s a bug when you use a stolen weapon that has a cast time while the Steal ability IS NOT on cooldown: If you spam ’’F1’’ you will use Steal before you even cast your stolen weapon, thus teleporting to your foe and wasting your Steal (becasue you still haven’t used your current stolen weapon). Pretty huge bug imo, I’m surprised no one has mentioned this yet…
Also, I think I might be going crazy, but I swear I’m just randomly Dodge Rolling when I’m strafing and spamming weapon skills? This has only been happening since the last patch.

Just when I thought Second Chance was the most annoying thing on this planet… AHHAhahAH, good one Anet, good one!
I use the extra venom trait and my target never gets stunned from Mug>CnD.
It’s only an Elite Skill, give Anet about 4 months to fix this.
I’ve never been so infuriated about something so trivial before, this is so kittening annoying ^^
edit: then when i try and leave by hitting ’’back’’ I’m still stuck on this kittening page lol
(edited by Chakuna.6325)
You can not interact with TP NPC in Cursed Shore, is it only bugged on Isle of Janthir or others as well?
Lie, you can shadowstep when you are knocked down, and you will actually be on feet after that.
LOL, that’s the point, when your ‘’stun breaks’’ are on cooldown.
On the bright side, I don’t have to worry about grinding up the mats to craft Bolt anymore.
I was thinking the same thing
I hope this isn’t a sign of how Anet will be balancing class’s in the future. If it is, then quadripple mega super facepalm.
1123 kills, 188 badges
If you’re using Thieves for a condition damage class you’re kind of doing it wrong.
fyp
I’m seeing too many posts about the SB being a condition weapon for a thief; 3 stacks of bleeding and poison damage? lol… Choking Gas is primarily meant for healing reduction and weakness, the condition damage is just a bonus, and Cluster Bomb is primarily meant for AoE direct damage, again, the condition damage is just a bonus.
Obviously Pistol MH and Unload need a revamp, just using Trick Shot out performs Unload atm and it has no initiative cost, cast time and it’s an AoE type auto-attack.
Imo they should give P/x a kiting/evasive direct damage play-style.
Give Vital Shot Vulnerability.
Give Sneak Attack more direct damage, Confusion and or Cripple/Chill, something other than condition damage.
Give Unload Cripple or Chill, same, if not more damage, it’s extremely lackluster atm
Get rid of Body Shot and give us something creative and relative to this play-style.Shortbow’s direct damage is abyssmal, and no it doesn’t outperform pistols on a single target. Pistol autoattack actually does more damage than trick shot when the bleed is factored in and unload does as much damage as 2 cluster bombs and doesn’t have the long flight time.
Pistol has good damage aside from requiring bleeds to maximize it, what it’s lacking is mobility and the ability to effectively kite, and the skill that stacks vulnerability is a waste of initiative. That’s why I said sneak attack and unload stack vulnerability instead, and the #2 becomes a cripple. I won’t waste 2 initiative to put on a vulnerability for 5s, but I will use 2 initiative to cripple for 5s.
I’m not talking about single target, I probably should have made that clear.
no, not until flanking strike is fixed
where’s the video?
Chakuna, that trait is aweful. By that point most builds already have 50% crit chance.
Freelancer, I don’t know. It wouldn’t be that hard to judge ingame if you equipped two of them and had 0 precision traits/gear on at all, as you’d only have a 4% or so to crit… 5% and 10% from two would be a very significant gain in crit chance.
Hardly an awful trait imo. Especially if you’re stacking +crit damage and using assassins signet, if you don’t crit you’re missing out on loads of potential damage.
When you use Steal with the Mug trait, you will sometimes use Backstab as well. This is deadly if you’re specced into Hidded Killer (100% crit).
You still run faster in combat than someone without the 25% speed boost. tbh I never really noticed speed penalty in combat with Signet of Shadow on, it’s working properly…
There’s no way you drop from 125% to ~75% run speed.
use the 100% crit trait, problem solved
-Attacking a stealth player, should still display the damage in the area that the stealth player was hit in.
This I agree with, that would be perfectly fair.
How would this be fair? If you’re in stealth with Burning Poison or Bleeding on you (which are all extremely common), you might as well be visible.
