Nobody has denied that rankings is population, the overall outcome is determined by population and that’s why maguuma is winning. Killjoy was never talking about the whole matchup, merely a snippet where she and four others took the east side of SBI bl without resistance whilst SBI had 10-15 players punching at SW tower, she is merely confused as to why the SBI players concerned chose SW tower over the east side of the bl is all. As a side note I think you also misunderstood the /laugh point, from what I read it’s more the confusion that the SBI defenders when eventually reacting on inner garrison /laugh’d at the maguuman invaders, an act of superiority over them. But the defenders had just lost their whole east side to those 5 who they /laugh’d at, showing a complete lack of superiority. I take the original post as a little bit of a lesson to check for ninja with a chest thumping agenda, but you know all about ninjas though right? (loved those videos friendopal)

I think Mag is a good server that brings some good fights, but OG talks so much trash and all I ever see is their backs as they are running away. If they learned to work WITH the rest of the server they might contribute to something other than the forum wars.

I actually can’t count the number of times OG’s ran into a keep to farm the enemy and somewhat helped us defend. And I think jaeger has a picture of bunzy sitting on seige one time, though they’re pretty useless and enjoy camping the south if you ‘tell them where the fight is at’ they show up in a heartbeat, even if it’s 5v30 at the time.

The build is a pretty neutral build, is built around being versatile and getting out decent damage output without giving up too much staying power. It’s not very reliant on the pet, I just consider the pet damage a bonus and mainly just use them for quickness and some utilities rather them being my primary source of damage ( I like beastmaster builds but I’m not happy with where the pet AI is at the moment )
Gear is pretty simple stuff:
6xcarrion armour 5xkrait runes 1x ruby orb(laziness)
beserker weps, I use sb/gs/sword/horn/dagger Whatever I feel like myaaan sigils usually revolves around some kind of condition (bleeds or boosting condition damage)
Trinkets are: rabid back/zerker amulet/ rest as carrion trinkets
Skills are TU if solo/ HS if grouped, QZ, Spike trap, SoH/SoR/LR depending on how I feel, entangle
traits are 5/30(I,II,VIII)/30(VI,IX,XI)/0/5
I play WvW solely so I eat food (I’m not made of money so Minotaur steaks and quality maintenance oil does the job)

As I said earlier I don’t like the pets wonkey AI so I run dual dogs, that kb/control utility comes in really nicely when it hits
As a bit of backstory I’m a dueler/roamer on maguuma, my build was mainly condition based at first with no precision at all, after playing with karlesi, or Sol on these forums (he’s the best ranger I’ve played with and does some great videos, you should check him out if you haven’t) I realised I was doing something wrong and retraited/swapped out some weapons to increase my crits without affecting my condition damage too much and was decently happy with the results
I feel it’s a fairly neutral build with the only thing really missing being healing power which I’m not too fussed about, I didn’t read the forums and the build was pretty much built organically from feeling what went right and what didn’t from my time in WvW

Here’s a picture of my stats as of current, throw me some advice on how to tweak it somewhat

I ran with them one night, cause a guy from their guild remembered me from Merlin DAOC.

They actually offered to run me on the ranger more often, but honestly while it was interesting, I frankly don’t think I contributed much to that setup (I could do entangle/PI bombs, but that’s about it)

I honestly did better when I switched to my thief and used Shortbow + Caltrops.

Yeah AoN was, they jumped ship a few times but not because they were losing, mainly because they just wanted better fights, they’ve been on SBI/maguuma/Fort aspenwood and are currently on DB, stand up guys and gals, they don’t even stake me sometimes.
Also entangle is a monster in both a small fight and larger ones, I freaking love that move so much.

That’s AoN, a group built around huge damage and zerg crunching, they’re AoE based so rangers don’t fit in so well there, though I do know one ranger in it running a very fotm pet bunker build, so you know. Also the video as stated before shows people streaming in, it’s not a 4v40, but more like a 4v6 then a 4v7 etc etc, I was the first person to die in that video because AoN loves me so much, in retribution we killed them like 3 times with a 5-6 pug group based around doing the same thing they do

None the less on the original video, that’s pretty cool, not a fan of the music but the gameplay was decent and the build seems pretty cool.

You clearly don’t understand the concept of numbers, let me throw this idea out there. We don’t have the numbers to fight a perma 30 man capping everything, we don’t usually and we never will. It’s something we have to deal with and have had to deal with for as long as I can remember, it’s hard to hold anything un upgraded when outnumbered. Once upgrades are on stuff they stand more of a chance.

We’re not un-competitive because we field fairly equal number between weekend/weekday.

We don’t want to be in t3, a stated a lot of us are roamers, enjoy fights of skill not spam and t3 is a lot of spam and no skill, (I love you dragonbroom but you kind of get jittery about fighting with equal numbers sometime, though so do we’ and FA, bar BT, whom I have the upmost respect for, haven’t overly impressed me.

And just to summarize, I made you read this whole thing before I say that your version of competition is completely different to a roamers, You might think that ego bar on the top being mostly green makes you vastly better than the weaklings below you. But it doesn’t, it just means the others have less people. Whilst a roamers concept of competition is fighting decent players who put up a good fight and is a good sport, points have zero importance to someone who really enjoys roaming and all a supply camp is good for is to draw in potential fights. So yeah, we aren’t competitive if you want to win the war, but at winning the small battles, we’re pretty kitten competitive.

I am from Kaineng, and here is my take on why DB and Mag is losing.

Yesterday in DB BL the DBs outnumbered Kaineng by a lot, like 2 to 1. Yet we still held on to Bay after back and forth siege of over 2 hours. Meanwhile DB lose their holdings in EB and else where. So while DB had pretty much their whole BL, their total score never went above 200.

Let’s say yesterday was different. Lets say Kaineng lose Bay in DB BL. DB wins right?

Nope.

It doesn’t matter. DB BL was the only place they got. Their score would not be high.

So my question to DB is why are you guys putting so many men in your own BL? It was not necessary at all. Your whole zerg was just banging your head against Bay. This does not give you any points. Instead you should move your men to other BLs and look for easy towers to take.

I don’t think Kaineng has that many more manpower than you. But we are better at population distribution.

People say it’s players PvP skill that makes kaineng look bad. It’s not. People say it’s a lack of understanding on the most part that makes them look bad, this is correct.
To the above poster what you suggest is they lose the HOME borderland in exchange for what, 3 towers and a keep. Most of which trebable from SM. Now I don’t want to explain the idea that not all maps can be fielded at the same time and you have to move players from one BL to another to be successful because unless DB was hiding assfairy reinforcements under the floor, that was their server, you managed to be slightly less in numbers in DBBL, have more in mag’s, your own and eternal. And you say you don’t have numbers, and just to clarify db focusing efforts in their own area first is good allocation of men, having them all over the place out of contact without communication as shown by kaineng not bringing anyone over shows that infact kaineng had worse player allocation in that respect, now would you kindly learn how WvW works outside a tiny bubble where numbers are infinite, seige is as expendable as players and kaineng are the height of skill and strategy.

My skill is reduced from an average person due to being on maguuma, also using a mouse to write whilst looking on another monitor has been known to affect typography. I personally feels it just adds the fact we’re all terribad and kaineng is our superior in every way.

Honestly, they should have given ranger the best scouting skills in the game, not thieves. :P

We are the best class at running away. 2x dodge, use lightning reflexes, use sword 2×2, use warhorn 5, use gs3. You’ve successfully broken combat and have swiftness. Prepare to run into the nearest pool of shallow water you can find.

This isn’t just for the new transfers, even as a WvW only player/commander I know I need to brush up on offensive seige etc, I guess being EU timezone which is relatively weak, installed a much more defensive outlook on the game. I’ll be there and would suggest any other maguuman, new or not shows up to maybe learn something new.

As a heads up DR, if what I hear about kain is correct, this makes them similar to DB, in the mag/yaks/db fight we knew we couldn’t hold the nights and the only thing we could do was hold on for as long as we could, you’ll want to be resetting ebay bl and ebay’s corner in EB before kain wakes up, making them a squishier target gives you more time and make sure you come in full force to the s towers the second kain start eyeing up your bl in order to scare them out, when kain looks to be getting weaker push them out and get into there bl as fast as possible, upgrade and hold until the night. You’ll want people specifically going to other bl’s to relay info on where kain is. This should make you a less tasty target to the kain zerg and give you more time with a decent ppt. Your own bl is more important than eternal so make sure you’re prepared to lose some of eternal early.

I don’t think we’re being bandwagonned. The guilds we’ve seen transfer over, [SM]/[WaR(spelt properly as in not how I did)] aren’t big guilds really, what they are though are very skilled from when I’ve fought them. We’re seeing groups that have a high skill level joining us after fighting them in battle and them thinking we’d maybe make a better match for their playstyle, if that doesn’t sound totally badkitten and how transfers should have been happening all along I don’t know what does

Fact is it’s a numbers game. Heck I’ll admit the numbers for once are in our favor, you have to realise we’ll be fielding this many next week, win or lose maguuma isn’t a server that has many fair weather players and until either we or you move up, or you start using better tactics in order to compensate for the number debt we’ll be stuck in this position. As a server if we win well we’ll do crappy for a few weeks because we weren’t under the constant pressure we’re used to and we get sloppy and lazy as a server. You complaining about us being too zergy maybe means BP/DR wasn’t ready for t5 and that maybe you need to think long and hard about what you’ll do next week. Plus us losing gliko rating doesn’t affect us much, we’ll be here owning most the maps for longer the more points we lose, it’s probably in your best intentions you do badly in the coming weeks so we get moved up again. Because we sure won’t be moving down to t6 anytime soon.

Side note, I thought you and AD weren’t some braggy kinda kitteny roam guild but I guess you’re just being sore losers bragging about something that will only hurt your server.

I can vouch for adaneshade, I’ve dueled with and against him many times. On both his thief and ranger and I have seen him solo level 80’s on his ranger (not me though luckily, I’d feel terrible losing to anything but his annoying kitten S/D bunker thief, which I’ve beaten before as my ranger) I’ve always thought rangers would make a very good dueling class, especially the fast pacing and dodges a s/d ranger brings to fights, once we get a buff to a closer level to the norm I think we’ll be a much more feared class.

I intend to use chainsword/pact pistol to build a Imperial Commissar themed thief but I’m stumped on getting armour to suit my needs and have no idea what kind of build I’d want. My only other character is my ranger which I’ve built into a somewhat rounded character being durable/crit heavy/condition and I prefer my builds more rounded,

In my mind as a maguuma player that wakes up at 10am GMT, it’s got to be dragonbrand simply because I’m such a masochist. By far NNK is one of the most efficient guilds I’ve seen in a long time. They’ll flip a fully upgraded map (see yak’s bend cry at night) in a half hour. Best fights are fights you’re destined to lose and the only thing you can hope to do is hold out until the sun rises in taiwan

We are actually in the process of taking all the talent from Ebay to make Maguuma one big gank squad server.

Please as a fairly long time player of maguuma in wvw. This is exactly what we don’t need. I understand you enjoy to roam and fair enough but I take being told we all need to roam like I do religion. Once you start Informing whole servers we have to become a gank server because it’s ‘clearly the only way forwards for victory/fun/spiritual enlightenment’ it’s a bad idea. Have you considered spamming the devs as much as our threads to make you a world where all is ganking?

As a condition ranger the only effective way of me dealing damage is through quickness and bleeds, I don’t need to be even more useless. Learning how to deal with bursts like quickness is integral to PvP in most games, most classes are equip with some kind of reflection/block skill that lasts roughly as long as the timewarp skill.

I like how it came out.

As a heads up, a lot of the capping on the ebay borderlands wasn’t nightcapping. I woke up make 12am gmt and managed to herd together a force of 5 to ebay bl, that rose our total players on the map to seven, we flipped supply camps for a while but couldn’t really make a dent, we tried on a tower and ebay arrived with maybe 12. If I’m thinking correctly the push for ebay’s border was during eu primetime and us primetime.
At this point can we calm the hate, it’s gonna get this thread locked, you throw accusations we’re only good because we hack and brag about this week being different, it was different, on that first day you guys wtfroflstomped us, I was amazed how well you worked together from the last time we played, it was like playing a whole new server. Why does this warhorn have no frost effect? Is this a bug? And are there any other corrupted weapons without an effect? (I know the shortbow/longbow has very little frost but I just crafted the harbringer and nothing, pretty saddening -.-)
