Thanks for the replies.

I’m having fun, but I also feel like I’m wasting a lot of time and resources making builds without ryhme or reason.

Because I don’t really understand every aspect of how the different parts work together, I’ve really just created a mish mash armor base on whatever I can build/salvage/afford. It seems to be working for me (except in dungeons), in PvE for the most part, but I still feel like I’m doing something wrong…or if not wrong, just ignorantly.

I’ll take a look at your links and see if I can make some sense of it. Do you guys know of any sites that have pre made builds outlined? It might be easier for me if I can see a build or two that work really well, and then reverse engineer it to understand why.

I admit it. I have no idea what I'm doing.

Oh…I’ll add the same goes for jewelry. I made a bunch yesterday and ended up just selling them because the random stuff I picked up was better. I also have no idea which upgrades to add.

…and I’m level 400 leatherworker and jewelry!

More specifically, I have spent time leveling up both of these, and have access to a bunch of recipes, but I don’t know what I’m making, why I’m making it, how to upgrade it, or what any of the features do.

For example, I wanted to make a new outfit for me and my girlfriend. I assumed that the best was the most costly, and so I poured a bunch of resources into making an exotic set for us both.

As with all clothing, I started by making an insignia.

The problem is, I really don’t understand what one insignia does over another. Hey seem to all result in the same ugly looking gear so that can’t be it. I realize they have different stats, but because I really don’t understand how the stats work together, or which ones are best for our characters, I just made whatever.

So, I mailed off the set to my girlfriend (which she quickly trams mutated), and started looking at my own. It turns out that most of the gear I’ve picked up in my travels is equal to, or better than the best exotic stuff I can make.

So, I now have a set sitting in my inventory. Which brings us to my second issue.

I have no idea how upgrades work. I finally realized the other day that if I add two of the same upgrades to my armor, it will give me the next “feature” on the list. I have no idea if this is a good thing to do, what upgrades are beneficial for me to add, or how to attain more of the same.

So, in the end I’m really quite lost. I’ve spent a lot of time gathering and purchasing materials, but in the end it seems like I can’t even create armor that is better than the stuff I found. I don’t know how to get different styles, better stats, or how to apply the correct upgrades.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I’m a double dagger thief, and my girlfriend is a double pistol engineer.

The Living Story - far too vague.

I would be curious to know how you guys heard there were new items to be found. I found out there were items by looking at the living story achievements.

The first two items I found by following the refugees to Lions Arch (which I only found because I was wandering around Hoelbrak and asked someone in map chat).

For me, the fact I even feel I need to resort to map chat (or worse, a wiki), is a clear indication to me that the story is not being told as clearly as it could be. When you consider all the current parts of the story, none of them really seem to be giving enough information to have it make sense, or to do the quests with any sort of coherency.

Fortunately is don’t think it’s a hard thing to fix. All ANet needs to do is be a little more direct with the information they present. If I stop and talk to a refugee, then either have them give me bits and pieces of the story, or have them refer me to someone willing to chat about it. If an NPC asks me to go find an object, give me some indication of where I should be looking. When I bring it back, give me a little more of the story for my troubles.

The best resource they have for passing along information in the game are the NPCs. If those NPC’s aren’t giving relevant information, or direction, then players can get easily confused, or lost.

Another small thing I would have done if I were ANet is be vague in the marketing material. I shouldn’t have to learn about the story through emails that ANet sends me to encourage me to play. Just let me know something is stirring in the world, and when I log in, start me in the right direction via an NPC, email, or cutscene.

From there, let the story unfold. Let the players create buzz and speculation. Let the world start to change and react to the story both visually, and contextually. Then I think you’ll get positive reactions from the players.

The Living Story - far too vague.

I think you are suppose to be lost.

My problem is that , so far, it hasn’t been fun. I don’t like looking for some guys car keys in the snow. The enemies are exactly the same as the other ones in the world.

Meh.

I have to agree to some degree. I actually don’t mind going on missions that span the world, but I’m not interesting in randomly combing every square inch of the map looking for an object.

There just needs to be more direction. I don’t need to have my hand held or anything, but there needs to be a balance between easy and just ridiculously hard to find.

The same enemies is a bit of a cop out, but perhaps there will be some surprise in store.

Is it just me, or does the living story make no sense?

More specifically, does anyone else feel totally lost as to what is going on?

Yesterday my girlfriend and I were trying to find some lost items. The NPC we talked to gave us no useful information, and so instead of combing an already completed map, we simply jumped on map chat and asked for directions.

There was no mystery, no adventure, no context…just go get an item and bring it back to the NPC.

Since the start of this living story I have felt like someone who is reading every tenth page of a novel. Sure, I vaguely understand what is going on, but in practice it feels disjointed and random.

For example, if I lost my wallet and someone was asking me where it might be, I wouldn’t be like, “Well, it was probably somewhere in this province/state.” That person would be like, “Well, good luck finding it.”

If however I was like, “Well, I was somewhere between here and the grocery store when I lost it.” that person would be much more likely to go out looking for it.

I see what they’re trying to do with this living story, but ANet has a bad habit of being so vague that it only real viable solution is to ask someone in map chat and hope for the best. This same thing happened during some of the past events where the direction was so convoluted that most people didn’t even bother trying to figure it out (remember the hunt for the halloween backpack?)

I’m really interested in seeing how this story pans out, but I also really hope ANet learns how to actually tell a story. Make me care, give me some direction, and send me on my way.

I’ve never understood why we can’t buy NPC town clothes for our characters. There’s a wide variety of lovely fashion options that the NPCs wear, none of which are available to the players.
When I started playing in beta, I saw the NPCs and went looking for a vendor that sold those clothes. It seemed like a no-brainer.
Of course, now we only have town clothes that are jokey, and that are exclusively available through the gem store.

Oh, a handy hint though: you can bind a key to change in to your town clothes.

Exactly!

My girlfriend wants NPC clothing so bad. She sees so many nice, casual, game/race appropriate styles that she would love to wear, but has no way of getting them.

Her and I share the same thought that if I wanted to wear “joke” attire, we would play a game like Second Life where everyone looks ridiculous.

So they added Riding clothes...

After viewing the new town clothes I am convinced that ANet just doesn’t get it.

For a moment, lets forget the fact that almost no one manually switches to town clothes. Since there is no system in place to allow the option to automatically switch, most people don’t seem to bother with these, myself included.

That aside, this is a huge untapped market for ANet that they continually throw away. They continue to create these “modern” versions of clothing that do nothing but make the game look kitschy and cheap.

Of course, that is my personal opinion, but what I think many others would agree with is that if ANet released sets of clothing that weren’t “jokes”, and fit the style of the game, many would jump at the chance to get them.

There is no need to try and be clever and funny when making new cosmetic gear. Just release some really nice clothing that encourage people to use the feature. I know I would.

So they added Riding clothes...

I’m not sure if it’s some kind of placebo thing, but today when I way playing the controls felt very delayed.

For example when I pressed the “1” button to strike, my character would delay a half second, then swing. The same if I gathered something, I would hit “f” and after half a second he would start.

Anyone notice this? Is this new, or just me realizing it?

Guild Missions [merged]

Awwww sad times.

My girlfriend and I sat down last night, and slurped our chicken noodle soup in anticipation for the new guild missions to load.

Sadly, we found out the new content won’t be available to us due to the costs involved. For our small guild made up of working adults, we simply don’t have the time to gain that much influence. We estimated it would take us months to even unlock the missions, and so we’ve sadly decided to pass on this content.

Oh well…

Please make weekly achievements.

I truly wish we had more than enough time, but we really don’t. Dungeons can take a while to set up, and accomplish (no points for unfinished ones), and that is a time commitment we just don’t have on top of the daily achievements, map exploration, etc.

We both tried 500 salvages, but without spending gold, we just don’t get enough loot in the few hours a week we get to play to put a dent in that. I think we’re both at 54% or something and we really tried last weekend.

Something like you’ve outlined would be really nice. At least we would have a chance at getting some of the cool stuff as well. Without a weekly, the likelihood (unless they change the monthly goals) of us completing them is nil. I’m sure a lot of other players are in the same boat as well.

My girlfriend and I tried, but we just don’t have the time required to pull off the monthly achievements. We can do the daily ones just fine, but the five dungeons, and salvage kits screwed us.

If there were weekly achievements, then casual players would have a better chance of getting some of the nicer items in the game. As it stands, I don’t see how we will ever pull it off.

The achievement doesn’t really matter, it’s not the main issue. The problem is that this is an MMO which is forcing people to play with random strangers and not their friends and guild mates, which for many people is the whole point of playing an MMO.

This is a PvE instance, there is no reason not to allow parties, other than lazy or stupid design, which are not good excuses.

I’m sorry you cannot play with a random group on a common goal, that should be fun, for less than thirty minutes or so. God forbid, you might make new friends while you’re at it.

My girlfriend and I purchased this game to play together, and with our friends. We are sitting at our computers in the same room, and yet we can’t participate in the same event, with each other, or any of our friends.

Let’s just be honest here, ANet knew this would happen, but instead of fixing it, they just decided to weather the storm and hope people would forget.

I try so hard to like this game, I really do. I spent weeks researching and convincing everyone I knew to out their time and money into Guild Wars 2, but when simple things like this, are screwed up so badly, it’s not going to be long before we move onto something else.

The Vocal Minority

Crazylegsmurphy.6430

It seems a few of you may still be struggling a bit with this.

I would only use the vocal minority argument if someone was acting like they’re the voice of the entire community. Which happens more often then it should.

You have to be careful making statements like this. It’s like saying, “See, we had a cold summer, so that proves global warming is false.”

Taking small samples of information, without considering external factors, will almost always give you skewed results. More players may be playing the game (or not) this week due to factors such as a week of holidays.

What you have to do is look for trends over time. Games like this will always see variation in player participation due to any number of reasons, but what really matters is what the overall trend shows.

The most reliable data is gathered by directly monitoring player habits. Everything from how many fractals are run a day and at which levels, to who participates in them, to general account activity is easily track-able. This information is completely void of opinion or speculation, the numbers are what they are.

Sort of… you have to be careful not to confuse correlation with causation. Just monitoring player habits without determining all factors (internal and external) could lead to making false conclusions.

The point is, if you have a specific argument / opinion about the game, by all means voice it the best way you can. What you have to be careful of, is that you’re not dismissing other arguments simply because someone’s opinions happen to be in what you interpret to be the minority.

The fact is that none of us really know how the game is doing. Anecdotes about population and how much your brother hates the game now, don’t really have much use when discussing the game.

(sorry, I have to cut this response short…brunch with my mum )

This is a very important point because using that argument is actually nothing more than an ad hom attack.

Actually no, you’re mixing up your fallacies, technically it’s argumentum ad populum. Ad hom would be saying you’re stupid and thus your argument is wrong. An appeal to the majority is when you argue that 1 million people can’t be wrong, or that the minority must be wrong because they do not agree with the majority. Although I guess you could twist argumentum ad verecundiam in order to support the opinions of the minority while negating the opinions of the majority.

But point taken none-the-less.

Well, I see it as an ad hom attack because its basically saying, “Your argument is wrong because of who you are…the vocal minority.”

But, I don’t disagree with you.

Crazylegsmurphy.6430

I just wanted to write a quick post about this “vocal minority” argument I see popping up quite often here.

The fact is that this forum is probably only a small proportion of the total Guild Wars 2 community. I think we can all agree on that. I think we can also agree that this small group is very vocal about their opinions of the game.

What we can’t do, is make the mistake of assuming that just because someone is in the vocal minority, it automatically makes their argument valid, or invalid.

This is a very important point because using that argument is actually nothing more than an ad hom attack. It’s like saying that because only a small minority of people were speaking out against the nazis, that their points were invalid.

We have no way of knowing what the silent majority thinks without gathering proper data and feedback. All arguments on this forum can easily represent a large, or small percentage of the community as a whole, but we simply can’t know this without a bigger sample size.

So, if someone makes an argument or an observation about the game, by all means agree, or disagree with what they say. But make sure you don’t fall into the trap of automatically dismissing the argument, just because they are the vocal minority.

Thanks for reading.

Crazylegsmurphy.6430

I am afraid that the survey provided will not result in positive changes to the game. The way the questions were asked will more than likely result in ANet coming to conclusions, but without knowing why.

For example, one of the questions was:

“Of the features you disliked above, what did you not enjoy? (Select MULTIPLE from list):

- It was not fun

Now, what does that even mean? Was fun a feature? What are the reasons I agree or disagree with that? Was it not fun because I’m playing it on a 7 year old laptop? Was it not fun because I enjoy flight simulators more? Was it not fun because it just wasn’t interesting?

For me, the event was “fun” in theory. I enjoyed the idea of the event, but found it extremely not fun because of technical issues, time crunches, lag, disconnects, Zergs, invisible enemies/players, etc.

The survey also asked:

“It was too hard”

Ya, it was crazy hard….but not because the enemies were hard. It was hard because I was getting killed by invisible creatures. It was hard because bugged events didn’t allow me to progress, thus requiring me to put in extra time I didn’t want to spend trying to squeeze in a completion before the event ended. I found it hard because the lag and the AoE spam was so crazy I could barely move. I found it hard because my group members and myself got booted to overflows which were not as full. It was hard because the jumping puzzle was full of Norn and I couldn’t see my character.

Was it too hard in terms of gameplay? Not really….but I don’t think this will give an accurate representation of why the game was hard.

The final line of questions was totally absurd.

“One-time-only events are something I look forward to and plan to login for”

“One-time-only events are a unique feature to Guild Wars 2 that I enjoy”

“One-time-only events allow me to impact the world of Tyria”

“The final battle against the Ancient Karka should only happen once”

“The final battle against the Ancient Karka should happen multiple times”

What? How can I accurately answer these questions using "agree to disagree?

These are not “agree / disagree” questions. These all require some sort of context to be relevant. For example, yes, I look forward to events very much, but do I agree with them being held over a three day period and requiring a lot of hours to complete?

Yes, I think the battle should have happened multiple times, but not for individual players. Each player should have had a chance to experience the content once, but not on ANets schedule. I would have loved to sit down with my girlfriend and 20 other players and worked my way through the content to effect the server I selected. But what I got was booted to some random overflow, multiple times, and had no idea if what I was doing would effect anything, or have any meaning.

I think you get my point. This survey will do little to actually address the concerns of these one time events. ANet needs to select a random sample of their player base and ask them if they would be interested in completing an in depth survey regarding the event.

If the sample is large enough, random, and the questions asked are well formed and concise, the ANet will get a much better idea of what needs to be improved. An open survey, online, with no context, will provide junk data and false positives/negatives.

I really like what this company wants to do, and I feel for them. As someone who owns their own company I feel for them. They want to offer the world, but get smacked with reality more often than not. The problem is they continue to make avoidable mistakes by assuming they know what’s best in all situations.

Until they are humbled a bit and realize that they need to take a step back and evaluate the situation with a logical and skeptical eye, they will continue to make uninformed and brash decisions that will confuse and annoy their players.

If you took the survey, then please post your actual thoughts here. Below I will quote the questions so you can provide your feedback. If you haven’t taken the survey, I encourage you to not do so. Spend your time writing a clear, and well worded response to each of their questions here.

So, on my girlfriends request we decided to partake in the final event. We spent two hours fighting our way when she got booted. She couldn’t join me, so I went to her server and basically started over.

We were getting close to the end when her game booted her again. She was unable to join me and I spent the rest of the time defeating the boss, while she wasted silver after silver trying to get back to me.

In the end, she missed the chest, and is so frustrated she’s considering not playing again.

Despite having the option to do a few other cool things this weekend, I opted to participate in the Lost Shores event.

Yesterday (as I have written about in another thread), my girlfriend and I were plagued with lag, invisible enemies, and bugged events. She opted out of the rest of the event, but I decided to give it a try today.

What I was faced with was an event that didn’t trigger in the overflow I was in, more lag, more invisible enemies, a jumping puzzle that is so full I can’t see my character, and the inability to complete some events due to yesterdays bugs.

I have been sitting there for the last hour wondering why I even care? I have a bunch of single player games that need to be completed, I have a bike I can ride, I have a girlfriend I can spend time with, and I have a bunch of TV shows I want to catch up on. Yet, I was sitting there, frustrated, trying to force myself to play because I knew I only had this weekend.

Then it hit me, I don’t care. I was going to log in for the event tomorrow, but I think I’m going to spend the day outside instead. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s amazing that ANet is creating new content and such, but this was such an epic fail on so many levels that I just can’t allow this game to waste anymore of my time.

I’ll see you all on Monday when things are back to normal.

I have a question. When I played the Halloween event, I ended up using an online guide to finish the quests because they were way too vague for me to figure out in the allotted time.

I love solving puzzles in games (grew up with Monkey Island, Space Quest, Kings Quest, etc), but I’m not interested in starting a quest that I won’t have time to finish, and be forced to abandon it, or cheat online.

While I realize the NPC’s are bugged right now, I’m wondering if these quests are vague to the point of frustration, or are they worth starting today?

Something fishy is going on....

After missing some of the Halloween events due to being on a road trip, my girlfriend and I were excited to be able to participate in this event.

When the cutscene started we were both grinning from ear to ear. Those grins very quickly turned into confused poker faces. For almost ten minutes neither of us could see anything but each other, and some particle effects. We both had no sound, and couldn’t figure out what we were supposed to be fighting.

Eventually my girlfriends computer started loading things and she was able to kill enough enemies to gather some samples. I on the other hand was not so fortunate and was unable to collect any samples.

With nothing to do, I checked Twitter and was informed to traveling and returning to LA may fix the lag. So, a few silver later, I found myself back in LA with a slightly better frame rate.

This was when Guild Wars 2 crashed and I spent five minutes or so trying to log back in. My girlfriend was luckier than I was, but was taking a beating due to lag. I eventually was able to return to the game, and after waiting a minute or two for everything to display, and the sound to come back, I ran back into the fray to fight.

Needless to say, I got worked worse than a one armed man fighting Mike Tyson. Without being able to accomplish anything, I found myself dying over and over. Eventually, I was so damaged that I couldn’t continue and so I found a repair NPC. 10 silver later I was repaired, and went back to join the fight. I was able to kill a few small creatures, but the lag, and the number of players made it nearly impossible to do anything I would consider playing a game.

In the end this event cost me more than 12 silver. I wasn’t able to see, hear, or kill anyone for the better part of the event, and the NPC’s didn’t seem to be working after the fact.

The problem is that even of the lag issues were fixed, the gameplay with that many players is just nonsense. It’s such a shame that ANet missed the opportunity to really make this event epic. They could have had these creatures running all over LA, destroying stuff, scaring NPC’s, running up buildings, etc. They could have taken advantage of the huge amount of coastline in other parts of the map, or they could have taken advantage of the huge water area as well.

I personally think this event should be cancelled. As sad as it is to say, ANet is not ready for this type of thing. They need more time to figure out how to eliminate this laggy, Zergfest, and how to spread events across the map before attempting this again. I am so, so glad none of my friends took advantage of the trial or I would never had been able to convince them to give the game a try.

My girlfriend has decided that she will be reading a book tomorrow, and if I get back from my bike ride early enough I may give part two a chance. I can’t see many people sticking around, or getting excited about events like this in the future if this continues.

Below is my short list for improving, performance and gameplay

- Spread the event out around the map

ANet doesn’t seem to get that the more you clump players together, the worse the gameplay and lag get. There is no reason why these creatures couldn’t have appeared all over the map.

- Instances

I would rather play a big open game, but due to the lag, and the amount of particle effects the solution may be to break people up a bit.

- spread the event out (time)

Having everyone log in at the same time, in the same place, is just asking for disaster. If this event had happened slowly, it would have allowed players to form smaller groups to fight.

One potential outcome I see is that ANet will decide that the resources put into these short lived events, aren’t worth the return they get in both player turnout or money. The more difficult they make it for players to participate, and the narrower the window to do so will mean that eventually players may decide it’s not worth it.

Take the Halloween cutscene for example. As I explained above, my girlfriend and I went out of our way for the game, only to find out it was a cutscene. Based on that, I don’t think I would go out of my way again, unless I knew it was going to be something worth adjusting my schedule for.

It would truly be sad if ANet stopped making high quality content for the game, but unless they start being a little more flexible and considerate of all the players, I just don’t see how it can be economical to continue doing it.

To reiterate, I don’t mind them doing one time events, but I think they should consider the following.

1. US and EU should have their own event start times. It’s simply not cool to favour one timezone over another. Trying to accommodate both timezones just creates headaches for players (trust me, my work partner is in UK and it’s always a pain).

2. Put up a calendar with events (even if they’re tentative). Most people, given enough time can plan for these things.

3. Consider the time requirements to participate. If the start and end of an event are one time only things that require participation (not a cutscene), then space out the events so they’re easier for people to attend.

There is really nothing wrong with one time events. When I played Batman: Arkham City, I had to talk to Calendar man every holiday for a year. I played the game for a few hours those days because I was able to plan well ahead for them.

Players won’t mind missing a few events, but ANet needs to be flexible and transparent.

I’m not sure why they don’t have different EU and US start times for these events. Using the excuse that players will upload the video to YouTube is not a very good excuse.

That’s like saying that if they release The Hobbit at different times throughout the world, someone might read about it on the internet. If players don’t want content spoiled, they shouldn’t be looking for it on the internet.

The three things that ANet could do to make this easier on all players are:

1. Space events out so they don’t require such a large time commitment all at once. I think most people can plan for these things, but not many can dedicate entire weekends to playing a video game.

2. Be more transparent about all the events coming up. Put a calendar online, and in the game showing upcoming events and times. Even if it just says, “World event!” with a time, that would be enough for people to look months down the line and book time off, or whatever.

An extra step would be sweet iCal/Outlook integration so we could manage them like any other task and ANet could change, or adjust them as needed.

3. Be a bit more transparent about WHAT it is that is going on. We all like surprises and such, but not everyone will be super happy to dedicate the time, only to find out it’s a cutscene.

Anecdote: Last week my girlfriend and I were on the road traveling to California. We knew there was an event at 12 PDT, so we planned our travel day around it. We rushed to a McDonalds (free WiFi), and sat there frustrated as it took over 30 minutes to update the client. We eventually got in, only to find out it had been a cutscene.

Again, these events are super awesome and I applaud ANet for putting in such amazing effort (the Halloween theme was quite cool), but they need to be a little more flexible for all their players.

We will give you more details once we get closer to the event, but wanted to give you an early heads up so you can plan accordingly.

While I think these types of events are insanely awesome, and I would never discourage ANet from doing them, I have to say that for those of us who actually have responsibilities and such, these limited events suck!

I’m glad that the content will be available past these events, but I wish there was some way of structuring these (or at least spacing them out) so those of us who can’t dedicate an entire weekend to Guild Wars 2, still have a chance to catch some of the coolness.

Hey,

My girlfriend and I are currently on vacation and will only have access to Guild Wars 2 in hotel rooms.

How much content are we going to miss by not playing every day? Will we have access to the content after the 31st?

I think PvE would be more exciting with the following revisions.

- Randomize dynamic events

Have events trigger multiple paths. If I fight the centaurs at the bridge, perhaps one time they realize the bridge is not repairable, and flood the river. Or if defeated, they sometimes fall back, or sometimes light fire to the area.

Basically, dynamic events need to be dynamic. Predictable outcomes mean repetitive gameplay.

- World Bosses randomized

“ETA on world boss?” Should never, ever show up in world chat. Special and exciting events are not built on predictability. If the world bosses spawned randomly, in random places, and even on the tail end of random dynamic events, it would add a huge excitement factor to the game.

- creature density and AI

Creatures are predictable. They’re in the same place, doing the same thing. A new cave? Of course, bats, grubs…spaced out evenly, and ready to attack every few steps. There is a reason that people who work in fishing plants don’t smell the stink of the fish. The human brain quickly adjusts and ignores predictable patterns. When you place the same creatures, in the same configuration, in the same environment, with the same behavior, the player stops caring.

- Make things challenging for the right reasons

Button mashing your way though a game with no chance of failure or consequence means no excitement. Gone are the days where you sat there, sweat sliding down your forehead as you are about to enter the final boss, on your last “continue”. You either won, or you start over. Today, everything is Lego Batman where you just keep putting yourself back together until you finish the game.

Games need to be challenging for the right reasons. Not just more creatures spawning, but combat that requires thought and skill.

I understand what you want. Do you understand how that would take an already overly predictable event, and suck any last bit of excitement out of it?

Why not have the game send you a text message when the world bosses are about to show up? That way you don’t even have to wast time playing the game.

My suggestion is that for every bot account that gets banned, the gold made by that bot gets equally distributed to all players that reported that bot.

This would encourage everyone to report them, plus be a nice bit of compensation for everyone who was effected by them, yet took the time to report them.

Oh, and a simple solution to the world ETA spam….make world boss spawn times random. Simple as that. Put this in the patch notes:

“World boss spawn times are now set on random timers.”

The programming would be easy. Once a world boss has spawned, it must have at least a one hour cool down, but then will spawn randomly anytime between one and four hours. Wanna make it even more awesome? Make the spawn points random.

Want to make it ultimate and super amazing? Have the events that lead up to a world boss have random outcomes. Sometimes it will trigger the boos, sometimes another event.

No offense, but this is one of the worst suggestions I’ve read on here.

It’s not enough that the events repeat ad nauseum, or that the respawn times on some creatures is redicilous, but now you want the game to just hand you everything on a silver platter?

Why not suggest that the world bosses just spawn every 5 minutes. Why not just make a world where all the world bosses can be chosen via a push button?

That sucks that you don’t have a lot of time to play, but knowing when the boss will spawn will not help you, or anyone. Fighting a world boss should be an epic and special event. It should never be on a timer in the first place. It should be something that just happens and if the players are around to experience it, then that’s awesome.

Would you support a total reset?

Crazylegsmurphy.6430

First, I realize the chances of this are next to impossible, but for the sake of curiosity I had to ask.

Would you support a 100% reset of everything if it meant no more bots, a viable economy, and slightly different gameplay?

It’s sort of like the concept of the movie Fight Club. Everyone back to zero. It would mean the trading post would be empty, the bots could be eliminated before they Gail millions in gold, the hacked accounts aren’t weeks behind, and the worlds would have more even spaced populations.

I suppose my questions are. Would you vote for a total game reset, and if not, what would ANet have to do, to sway your vote to yes?

Egon,

You took the words right out of my mouth. It’s strange how one or two wolves in Skyrim can create that uneasy feeling that 50 wolves never could in GW2.

Sadly, I doubt ANet will ever change this. They seem to be stuck in the old MMO mentality that in order for players to feel like they’re doing something, they have to pad the world with fodder. What they don’t seem to realize is that when your world is predictable and static, players will become bored very quickly.
