I know we can expect a hell of a season from you AR so I’m looking forward to the many wonderful pictures that I’m sure you’ll draw!
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I lol’d. I do think it would be interesting to see a more difficult boss in the middle though.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Come to Gate of Madness! We have a lot of really solid guild groups that are always open to helping out! We only queue EB on very rare occassions. We’re also sure to always keep the jokes rolling on TS to keep morale high :P
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Yes, leagues broken apart in the same way as season 1. The 1-9 ranking is within a league. And leagues are locked so you will only face servers within your league.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
It’s saying that for the first week you will be matched with servers in your respective tier and then (for the case of silver and bronze, not sure how gold will work), the 3 servers that placed first will face each other, and same for second and third. Leagues will be locked in.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Greetings Jaxx,
A lot of the core portion of my guild, including me, made the switch over to GoM during Season 1 and we’ve never looked back. We have a really stable WvW community that is very welcoming. We’d also be able to reminisce about the good ol’ days on DH if you came over. Feel free to hit me up in-game if you’d like!
Vicious Instinct [VI]
GoM has held really stable with no guilds leaving. We’ve had a few old members return from other servers as well.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
It wont kill me thats true, but why? Its like spending few hours every day in pve zerg wont kill you so you can afford to pay upgrades.
One thing wont kill you, all together are really discouraging to some type of players.
The difference is a few hours EVERY day to get gold for upgrades(or an hour in FGS once a week will probably set you up for the week if you’re not making it in WvW) or a few hours ONCE for the traits. Pretty big difference there.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
This thread is filled with so much hatred. Every server has been through tough times lately, but rather than throwing it in each other’s faces, why don’t you respect each other. This has turned into an argument of “my server is worse off than your server” and it’s disgusting. The population between bottoms of tiers and top of tiers is absurd, we’re all aware of that. This tournament has terrible timing and has also done even more terrible things to the population differences, but that doesn’t mean we need to beat on each other about it. We’re all here to have fun and get some good fights. I sympathize with whatever server does end up at bottom of the silver league, but whoever it is, do what you can. With they way it’s set up, it’s not like you’ll be fighting the best of silver if you’re the worst of silver (best and worst no longer going by rating, but the most recent performance in the tournament). Who knows, it may not be weeks upon end of getting ROFLstompped, it’s hard to say. But don’t sit here and discount other people’s servers or hard work. Everyone’s trying all that they know how to make do on these terrible situations, just keep doing what you can.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Nerf the supply draining cow. It is making the game ridiculous. Now servers won’t even fight unless they are near their keep with supply draining cows hitting us the whole time.
In tier 1, that is rarely how it is used though. Usually it is used by equal sized force to turtle in their keep rather than come out and PvP us.
We want fights and this discourages fighting.
We’re in WvW to PvP primarily and the sub-game of PPT is secondary.
Supply drain trebs are made for tier 8 without concern for the impact it has in tier 1.
You heard the guy, he’s from T1 and asking for it so we have to give them what they want..
On a serious note though, people in every tier enjoy the fights, but sometimes that supply drain cow from the sole person in a keep can delay a large group long enough so that your back-up can make it in time. Just because your server can have 80 people blobbing around in every map doesn’t mean that every other server can. If you ask anyone who has tried defending a tower with just a few people, they’ll tell you how useless you feel when you can only man one super ac that even though you have full mastery, it’s not strong enough to drop a superior ram before they burn through your gate. Defense is way underpowered and unrewarded as it is. If your concern is turtling in towers and not getting fights ASAP, why don’t you just ask them to remove objectives completely? I understand that a large number of people play just for the fights, but that’s not all WvW is so to try and please one side and not another is just not reasonable. There’s people that like to siege and hold out so just let them play how they want. If the group that’s turtling was there for fights only, then they’d come out and fight you on their own will.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Everything you’re talking about is WvW related only. It has no impact on PvE. Unless he transfers and spends more time in your WvW, he will be attached to whatever server he is currently on. If he transfers, he will not be able to enter WvW for the above mentioned duration, but can still do PvE, sPvP, and EotM.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I’d rather not see you depart from GoM, but if you must, I’ll at least help you to pick a home that fits you. During what time are you typically online? And what maps do you see as empty?
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I had some lag issues with Overwolf, but personally I recommend Bandicam. The quality and performance are really good. As for the minimum hardware requirements, I’m not sure, but you could always download the free version (comes with a watermark and capture time limit), but it’s a good way to test it out.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
They’re all in the back of Vale
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Bump for AR! Awesome group of people who we always enjoy going up against! They like to bring out the fights and it’s always so hard for us to say no!

I play what i want, i play how i want, i play when and where i want aaaaaaand, wait for it……….. you do the exact same thing.
As we both should. And I’m happy you actually enjoy it. But you’re still as ineffective as any other Ranger.
may i suggest you for once may be wrong? Or maybe your infinite wisdom can finally shed light on something my ranger cannot provide that is not positive.
I could be wrong. 99% of the WvW community isn’t though. Rangers are easily the most ineffective class in WvW.
I respond to this with a quote from Winston Churchil:
“The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”
Adepted for GW2 I want to say, that the mayority of players may not be right about some issues. Also the players writing in the forum and making their opinion public represent not the mayority of players playing the game. Thus, you only know a fraction of WvWer’s opinions through the forum.
I remember back in the day, when every1 said how bad necromancers are and I was beating the hell out of my opponents even 1v3 with a condition build, that was on a pre doom fire patch, before every1 complained about the op-ness of necro conditions.
What I enjoy in this game is one thing:
I am not a really great player. My responses are often slow, my dodges often random or gutt feeling dodges than responsive and my awarness of the battle field is average. Still, by building special builds (I rarely run mainstream builds) I win most of my roaming engagements. This is the matter with my necromancer, with my mesmer and with my (power) ranger.
99% of the players, without wanting to insult anyone, are playing “effective” and the builds that have been “established”. I experiment most of the time, trying new builds and adapting them. If I start out with a maionstream build (with a profession I am unfamiliar with), I quickly adept it to my needs until the build fits my playstyle and not my playstyle fits the build. And I guess that is, what the ranger that was witnessed by the OP was doing. He exploits a niche, that most players are simply not aware of.
Condi bunker melee ranger is a very well known build, I have no idea what rock you are living under.. And even still in this story about your necro, you mention 1v3. Please, for the final time, comprehend that people are saying that rangers are good in small group. We’re not all crying “don’t play ranger cause they suck”, we’re just saying that compared to other classes, they could use some things in their favor. And in regards to not having the majority of WvWer’s opinions, this was a poll under Balancing and thus you get sPvP and PvE player’s opinions as well and guess what, ranger was still voted as the class that needs the most love. I don’t understand your point in trying to start a discussion if you discount every valid point. It’s not player hate, it’s a combination of observation and experience. You have a lot of people in this discussion who play this fabled melee build that this player apparently discovered that not many people know (seriously though, this and bear-bow is the ranger meta) and they’re admitting that there is a lot of things that can stand to be improved with the class. Just let it go.

Are there even commanders on the t 7/8 servers?
No, we don’t have commanders. Basically we fight against sentries. The really skilled guilds can flip camps. Once I got inside a tower, it was wonderful! The gate, the supply hut. I can’t even tell how it was killing the lord!
There are few who claim to have been inside a keep, but I don’t really trust them.
We still don’t know what is inside SM. It’s way above our skill levelAt reset we have people from the 3 servers banging their heads against the castle gate, but nobody can damage it enough apparently… but we’ll get it, I promise!
Thank you for that. You win one internetz today.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Bumping cause I’m coming back today for those who know of my reign (;
Your reign was before my time on GoM, but welcome back home!
Vicious Instinct [VI]
i wonder what some of your would hate more: not getting WXP across your account or getting it and realizing a bug in the code caused you to only get about 2/3 of your actual WXP across your account? Seriously, this isn’t something that happens overnight and this isn’t the only thing they are working on coding and trying to implement into a LIVE environment. Seriously, this complaining about WXP across multiple threads is just getting sadder and sadder.
Well if they knew that it was going to take this long to implement it, why the * would they tell us about it that far ahead of time, building up expectations. And why is there no update on this from Anet? Atleast tell us how far they`ve gotten so we have a clearer picture of what to expect.
This. If they would communicate progress with their player-base, it wouldn’t have received anywhere near a reaction like this. But instead, we’ve been left in the dark for months about something so many people want so badly.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I would like to be sure of something.
with the wvw account bounded, lets say i’am lvl 200 but
- I have 200 to use PER character, so if i have 5 character, for all 5 i’am going to be able to use 200 points ?
- Or i have 200 point in total to use across my 5 characters ? so i can only do like 40 points per characters ?
My main wvw char is level 685; wxp across all other chars equates to 123. These totals will be combined raising my level to 808 across all chars. This is my understanding of how the system will work.
Nope, Immagine it like a pool, all the wxp you made on your chars will be merged togheter, but don’t forget that the first 5 ranks are easier than the rest.
practically you will be between rank 770/790
So, if i have 200points to spend in total, that will not be 200 point per character, but 200points for all character ?
that’s just bad like hell and finaly do not change anything.
It would be smart to have the "200"points per character if you not only have “one” favorite class…GW2 will still force us to grind grind grind grind grind the wvw lvl to get all the necessary vwv xp to get all the upgrade you want in wvv for each of them…
Especialy when there is only a very little minority that played that much that they are lvl 1k++ in mcm…
Anet only care about the little korean like grinder minority ?
great…
It will be 200 points per character.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Don’t forget that the Lowlands dolyak to Hills will now walk on the middle of the bridge and not the railing…
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I feel like this attitude is all over and it’s just so misplaced. There are absolutely commanders, there’s large scale fights, there’s drawn-out sieges, there’s roamers, there’s everything there is in larger population servers except the blobs aren’t as big or relied on as much.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
GoM, we drew you a picture
<3 from Anvil Rock
Thank you very much for the picture.
See folks, this is what happens, come to GoM and your opposing server mates will draw pictures for you!
Vicious Instinct [VI]
People cry that ranger is weak just like people cry that thieves are OP. A lot of those people just don’t understand the mechanics and haven’t looked around at different builds. Now the point that a lot of the above posts are going for is that yes, rangers a solid in small group settings. I run the same melee build on my ranger as a lot of other roamers do, no dispute there. However, when it comes to larger groups or zerg fighting, if you hope to contribute any to your team on top of tagging enemies, every other class can do things better. Need a water field? Ele’s produce 10x better fields and more frequently than healing spring. And all that stability you were talking about? It only works on yourself, and if you think you’re gonna run through and tank the damage that the stability is used for, you’re in for a surprise when you down halfway through. And don’t even get me started on pets in group fights, drop a meteor shower on it’s head and it’s game over. The way rangers are currently designed, they are built selfishly and for small groups. Do I agree with that decision? No, but rather than stick with ranger as my main and cry all the time, I rolled other classes for group fights.
We see this post over and over so here’s the TL;DR:
Groups consisting of less than 3 players: ranger is more than capable
Helpful for larger group synergy: roll something else
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I’m going to switch to a low tier server to command so the groups are probably not gonna be any bigger than 15 people. & I want to cap keeps
You will be seeing bigger than 15 person groups on low tier servers. I have commanded on both, but prefer warrior because I feel like I have a lot more sustain than on my guard. Both of them do work well though, but also take into account the group you might be playing with to determine what kind of roles you have behind you in battle.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Bump for the GoMmunity!
Vicious Instinct [VI]
We don’t really like a lot of these recent match-ups either. Don’t get me wrong, I love fighting a lot of your players, but the populations are just too drastically different. I’m hoping a lot of people will take advantage of the free transfers to give you the population so that we can get some more even fights because you have good players. Regardless, best of luck out there.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
If you’re looking for a server with an active WvW population and a strong, nurturing community, Gate of Madness is the place for you. And between March 18-27, you can join us for free (*just pay 800 gems for shipping and handling*). We may not be ranked low enough for free transfers, but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t use more players or guilds to fight alongside of us. We have a very stable WvW community that actively works together to make the most of what we can.
GoM is home to many WvW veterans that have a lot of knowledge and are willing to share. If you’re looking to hone your skills or improve guild organization, Gate of Madness is the right community. We pride ourselves on smaller guilds working together to accomplish a greater task, which is a great opportunity to make new friends and also closely examine how other groups operate.
By having smaller guilds working together, every member becomes extremely crucial to the success of the server. What this means is that you will always have a noticeable impact on our score. Are you having trouble trying to grow your guild on a higher populated server? Come join us and gain respect and quality players by showing us your true potential. Benefit from having a lot more equal number fights than huge blob on blob action or ridiculous outnumbering.
We have a community Teamspeak server and hold weekly meetings to discuss the community and last week’s WvW outcome. We also hold weekly events to help keep our community flourishing. Every week we go out into WvW and whether we come out victorious or not, we can always say that we had fun. We’re a hardworking server and if you give us a shot, we’ll show you what dedication and organization can really do.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Ran into [DI] quite a few times when they were on ET and they’re a solid force to be reckoned with. Nice people too.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Probably the most contentious issue has been the talk of getting rid of world’s and replacing the system with just the three colors. I think there is some merit to the idea, although I believe the worlds have a lot of value. I’d be curious to know if the folks who argue against and world pride feel that way because of being on underperforming worlds or not. I also wonder if there isn’t some work that could be done to restore that world pride without completely overhauling the WvW system. Someone mentioned alliances, which I think would work fairly well. If the less populous worlds were grouped together, does that seem like something that could reinvigorate them?
I think the worlds do have a lot of value, but I also think the low populated worlds do need a three color system to help them.
I think we can do the three color system if the worlds are grouped in two or three, having one world be a top tiered, the second world be a medium tiered, and the last world be one of the bottom tiers.
So Red would get a kitten… & T3 world, Blue would get a kitten… & T3 world, and Green would get a kitten… & T3 world.
Yes sure, the bottom tiered worlds will probably ride the coattails of their higher tiered brothers, but at least they will have an impact this way.
Please no. I play on a low tier server and I hope I would never see this. The people that I play with are some of the proudest and most dedicated people that I’ve come across. If we wanted to get carried, we would have transferred up a long time ago. I don’t really mind being “trapped” in the lower tiers. It just makes everyone want to work that much harder so that we can someday pull ourselves out of where we are. The part that does suck, is that you still lose due to coverage, but that problem persists everywhere so you learn to deal with it. As I’m sure many of you can agree, I play for the fights, and I play for the people. There are plenty of times where things get frustrating, but we persist on. As mentioned previously, any kind of incentives to go to lower-ranked servers would be nice, but don’t just try to alleviate things by piggybacking us on a stacked server.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I’m curious what you all think about choke points as strategic ideas. I don’t think we’d ever want a map that was just a bunch of canyons, this isn’t Sparta or Thermopylae, but having areas that make it harder for large groups to get through if they are well-defended creates gameplay. Think of a tower that guards the only pass through a canyon, rather than bridges everywhere. Is that something that, in moderation, could provide for more varied and strategic gameplay?
For the purposes of the question, think in terms of building a new map from scratch, rather than retrofitting the current maps.
I lead a smaller sized guild and there are 2 locations on the current borderland maps that I love using to take out a larger number of players. Those spots are the entrances that lead into Vale and Lowlands camps. What makes them so useful is that they have the single chokepoint, but at the same time, you have options to maneuver around it and go up top or sneak around the back. I think that this has made for some interesting fights and if used correctly, could lead to some very epic situations.
I also agree with the aspect of not just placing canyons everywhere because I think open-field fights are just as fantastic as chokepoints.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Well, I’ve seen the word World Pride thrown around a lot and I don’t really think that is the proper usage for what it means. I personally have Community Pride. I enjoy fighting because I am proud of the effort that my server mates put into WvW. As such, there is no pure connection to the server as a whole. With that being said, I feel like alliances would be very useful, but as mentioned, planning the implementation is very difficult. As little as I’m concerned with PvE, I don’t want to say scrap the idea of worlds because guesting is possible. I don’t think that’s fair to those players.
Let’s say that alliances are the answer. I would like to see alliances revolve around guilds, but then how do you regulate that? I feel like we would just end up with the same population imbalance that we have now. However, one solution would be to limit the number of alliances. Do NOT make 24 different NA alliances, the WvW population is not large enough at this point, but structure it in a way so that it may some day be extendable to add new alliances. Also, it was mentioned that alliances would require some way to keep people from flipping around to one after another because you need something that is sustainable and you need to be able to trust the people you play with since you’d be sharing tactics.
My suggestion would be to strongly consider alliances and possibly put out another CDI to get feedback on how to implement such a structure.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Also, you keep QQing for videos of every single team we had in your BL, but you can’t show us any of the video proof that you claim to have of us hacking into Bay? Ridiculous.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Well I watched the whole video, it sure dosnt show the capping or the talented mesmers that portaled the other group that capped inner. Where is he part where you capped hills 25 seconds later? So your trying to say 2 mesmers stayed hidden, one on inner and one for outer. The other half of your zerg ran all the way around the back and got portaled in. But of course you dont have video of the capping of either Bay or Hills as that would just prove our point.
Read the chat at 2:30 in the video, clearly states we have a team at Hills too. I’m sorry our server has more than 40 people online? I’m not sure what kind of response you expect. I am one person, I can’t record both. And neither capture was a mesmer, you were just too tied up watching us at S Bay. If you notice during the cap, you have a good 30 people just standing behind S Bay gate, not our fault you were just standing there. I mean it’s nearly a 12 minute video, do you think it takes that long for a mesmer port? Of course not, both our teams broke down the gates unopposed because you were distracted.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I have never seen an endless supply of arrow carts, I did see the hack that GOM used to take a fully upgraded Bay then Hills. I watched from the wall as GOM hit the south bay door, then the zerg went and hid in the camp. As i was checking the door for damage the Lord instantly died and the circle capped. I then proceeded to way point to hills where we had defenders covering all outer doors. As i arrived at the hills way point the GOM zerg was running out of the lords room having instantly capped that. This is not 1 player or even 2 this is 30 plus people on GOM server following a hack. This needs to be addressed before the new season starts. We lost a lot of good people last night to this behavior.
As being the PROUD leader of the guild that was at S Bay that supposedly “auto-teleported” into the lord’s room and “insta-killed” him, here is video of the entire encounter (including the map chat planning and TS audio) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7gan5s6MOA I have to say DH, that for calling hacks and claiming you have all of this footage, I only see proof of the guild being blamed that “hey, we didn’t hack, we just have more than one team doing things on a map when we’re going for waypointed keeps.” Now please, quit QQing. And Mepheles, don’t act like a seasoned GoM veteran, you’re from DH (my whole guild knows since we originated on DH) and you just transferred here recently. I’m not going to blindly state what your actions are, but if you truly hope to be a member of GoM, don’t blindly call hacks on your own server.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I love roaming on my ranger and can sometimes go up to 1v3 depending on the group. The only class that I really have trouble with at times is condi necros, but if you’re prepared for them, you can swap a few utilities and you should be fine.
All 3 classes are good for roaming though and they can all take camps and handle their own in fights, so if you’re not in a major rush, try your hand at all 3 or just watch different build videos and see which one seems most appealing to your playstyle.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
I agree with this. Its beginning to get to the point where upgrading keeps and towers are pointless if hackers are going to teleport themselves in and cap it.
But a handful of people complaining, won’t get attention. A large group of people will. Especially if it gets to the point that folks don’t want to WvW.
I have to agree. Things like zoom-hacking and endurance-hacking I’ve kind of just learned to deal with, but after spending a long time upgrading and defending keeps, it’s really frustrating to lose them before you even get time to react because they glitched into the lord’s room without drawing swords.
The best advice I can give until there is a fix is that if they have a guild tag, try to find their guild’s leader and let them know or tell someone else on the server. Most serious WvWers have no tolerance for things like hacking.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Yes, every class has strong roaming capabilities (give or take on Guardian), you just need the right builds and experience that will come with roaming. Warrior is just a big pick right now because the ability to escape is unmatched by any other class.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
As the leader of WHO, I can attest that there is absolutely nothing but joy in the decision to transfer to GoM. We were welcomed into the community very easily and have been able to grow as players and as a guild since we arrived. If you’d like to talk more about the process or have any other questions, feel free to contact me in-game via whisper or mail.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Another plug for GoM, but it truly is a great community. There are weekly events with a very strong community. There is a large PvE community and a WvW community that is growing stronger each day. In the teamspeak there’s always a good time going on, but that doesn’t mean that we stray from our best while doing so. I definitely suggest whispering in-game or hopping on the community TS if it suits your interests.

I really wish I had come across you, so I could spike the heck out of you because you whine. SO. MUCH. At least someone on our side managed to do it to you, and I will not be sorry to see you go.
Haha, see my twitch for all the spiking that happened my friend. 99% of the time it was me spiking two or more of your uplevels and zerglings.
Wait a second, did you just try to make it sound like an accomplishment that you can take down uplevels and zerglings?

LMFAO to this [WAR] AR zerg for trying to crash our fight club and within 1 minute got completely stomped by the fight clubbers… I had fun spam sitting ur bodies
(I only do so rarely, but it was well deserved in that case.)
On the plus side, ty for bringing more DH to the fight club tho, and the loot bags, they have quite tasty content for watching the rest of our duels
So, does anymore AR wanna come to have friendly duels in GoM BLs, besides those crashing kittens? I only see two here
Dont usually go to fight clubs, but i might have to start. Nothings more satisfying than seeing buffalos “WAR TRAIN” get wrecked. If it means anything, most of the people on AR (other than WAR members) arent really a fan of him either…
That’s good to hear because we had a lot of fun crushing them! And you should go out to the fight clubs, if anything you get to see a lot of different builds as well as learn more about your own. Not to mention meeting lots of really cool people.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the fight club tonight! I heard from multiple people that they all had a good time and I know I certainly did!
And thank you [WAR] for thinking you could stomp a group of people who are specifically out there to show off their fighting skills.

official unofficial fight night at DH BL windmill, :o…. :/
Moved to GoM BL behind the windmill to avoid the lag.
Vicious Instinct [VI]
Had some more fun duels in DH BL tonight so thanks to all that came out. The fight club will be Thursday night at 10PM U.S. Central time in DH BL behind the windmill. I hope a lot of you can make it out there so we can have some good duels and xVx battles. I’ll be looking forward to seeing you guys there!
