sPvP and WvW is essentially designed for something to do once you hit 80, and done all of the pve content.
seeming as majority of players are under 80 (i’d say MAJORITY of players are between 40-60 now) all resources should go into the pve aspect to make the meat and potatoes of the game 100%.
I’m not saying they should neglect sPvP completely, because thats all I do. But from a business perspective, PvE is definatley where its at atm
I defiantly get more orbs then anything else, no matter what chest, this needs to be changed.

Thieves are great in PvE. So far I’ve found S/P to be the best/most efficient/easiest. The heal on attack heal skill is great because it ticks for every enemy you hit with every swing. With a little extra healing from your gear or traits this adds up. Not to mention the fact that while Pistol Whip is going you evade everything. It gets tough at 80, but totally doable. I can’t imagine there is a class that can just run around and perfectly solo any of that content.
There is none, I have a level 80 mesmer, and running through orr on my own is kitten suicide. But I like it that way because it is the endgame area
For pve, vit and condition damage/duration
If you go for anything else, your gonna have a bad time

If you specced into damage rather then tankyness you would probably over come him, that skill seems like a big counter to mediocre damage tanky classes

When it auto balances, the points you have gotten for the other team should be added to the team you are now on, not taken from the team you were on, just added, to make it even more balanced.
Too many times do I get balanced over when im the highest scoring player and all my work goes to nothing because my new team needs to L2play

Hey guys, this is a purely sPvP question, just to clarify.
Basically, at the moment in my utilitys i’m running the poison venom, the huge roll back + gain intiative and the 25% ms signet.
I want to know which venom you guys think would be better, I’m kinda leaning towards immobolise venom, because I’m specced for crit damage and crit % to make the most of sb #2, but i’ve found when people are in a group, the poison venom can do some serious damage because it gets spread between 3 people (due to #1 ricochet effect).
Whats your opinion?
Any class can kill you fast if you are low on health and if he can do a much faster because heart seeker scales that’s a very fair. A thief lies outside of battle and waits until somebody is low on health and then goes in for the kill. That’s not very fun for other players to always have to be paranoid thinking that a thief is going to pop out and heart seeker them.
Basically no other class makes other players have a less fun in a less enjoyable time in PVP as the thief. The other classes that come close would be the classes with a lot of pets because it makes them hard to target and just confuses other players making the screen a mess.
But the current abundance of NPC pets is another issue.

Most guardians are cake, but the ones that have traited well and know how to play are insanely hard to kill, harder to kill then any other well played class
Switch to a range weapon and keep pressure on him until it wears off, don’t worry about killing him, just worry about surviving.
60 seconds is one hell of a long time though.
Same as any game, if its a tie, one team gets priority. But seeming as this game doesnt record stats, it should just say tie.
sPvP doesn’t record any stats, just play for your self and take the loss

Truth is, it’s the veteran WoW players that are having a major problem with this game, and most of us have no problem if you go back to WoW
That’s not true, I have a problem with the sPvP mechanics and I’ve competed in many other games but WoW. I still do fine and always get top player, but the mechanics are just terrible and classes are just ridiculously imbalanced.

MvC2, EC, PJ, SF, KI, CoD, CS, Halo, LoL, DoTa, FFXI, GW,WoW
P.S. Not complaining about it, just stating the obvious facts about sPvP.

With my SB thief or dual axe ranger I beat 2 players quite easily, but thats because hot join is full of 12yo’s and trash.
sPvP is not connected to PvE/WvW in any way.
Karma would not benefit sPvP players in any way.
They should not make karma farming any easier in any way.

I feel exactly the same.
The point that ANet has to realize is that if they want to make a good e-sports game then they have to give the PRO players some room to show their skill, in other words you cannot make a game aimed for “super casual” people and expect it to become an e-sports. It has to be easy to learn but hard(very very hard) to master. Right now I don’t see it that way.
As for now plenty of mechanics/bugs/lack of options and more ruins it. I hope they will change it in time.

The biggest problem with sPvP at the moment is that there is not a big enough skill gap for pros to take advantage of. It’s way to easy to walk in with a thief, take a sword and a pistol and run around 3 shotting people. Same goes with other classes (albeit the elementalist, possibly the only real class that takes skill to play due to downstate being UP)
They need to punish players more for doing stupid kitten, like spamming heart seeker, or missing half of your 100hb. There is nothing to stop this game becoming a fully fledged eSport (call of duty is considered an eSportkitten They could change the whole game simply by adding a proper ranking system (rank being averaged by wins and losses, K:D etc)

cannon is hardly the problem, it’s so easy to counter on your way to the beach/dock.
They should get rid of the ruins, put the point on the ship and make it so you have to get to the ship from under the water. The sharks being on a team is ridiculous. All I do on that map is rush ruins, and hold it all game. you can take 3-4 players on your own simply because of the sharks.
Or replace all sharks with one megadalon that needs a couple of people to take down

tournament spvp = awesome, skillful play
axe/ mace + shield and warriors are awesome addition.
Those greatsword, full damage warriors look like kitten kittenes once im done kiting with my sbthief
I use shortbow thief in sPvP, I went 30 in precision and crit chance, 20 in power and crit damage and 20 in vit and healing (not sure if its healing or not).
I went for more of a survivabilty build so i could take points and get out alive. I went for crit % and damage over condition for the SB #2 skill, which does 8k with crits, in an aoe.
using them on gold chests is perfectly fine, because only get a new set of chests every 10 levels (which by 10 levels you should have a ton of glory points)
If I’m not mistaken every 10th rank has 3 sets of armor and weapons.
Copper chests give you mats for the first set, silver the second and gold the third (each with a small chance of getting the other). It’s hard to wrap your head around why they would do it this way, rather then just buying gear with glory.
All ranks have balanced stats, a rank 50 is no stronger then a rank 10, but he will look alot different
If they made vapour form available instantly it would be fine.

Its not the gear you get from the chests, but the mats that you get from salvaging the gear you get.
Copper chest gear gives inferior mats compared to gold chests.

The character designer is lacking as a whole. It is very hard to get into my character when everything feels so preset, like I’m not even playing my own unique character. It’s not me, it’s just one of X number of preset designs for that race.

Seriously, you’re a Thief, the skill is made for you. I feel like a dufus for taking so long to realize its utility. Once you start doing it regularly you’ll have so much fun stealing you’ll look forward to it in every fight; you’ll alter your build around your steal, or vice versa; and you’ll wonder what you were doing before you discovered it.
It seems you’re a thief only every 45 secs.
The rest of your time, you’re an assassin.
In real life, stealing something every 45 seconds means you’re totally a thief! A compulsive thief! That’s a steal a minute. If I play for 4 hours, I could steal 180 things!!!! I’m the best thief in the world at even half that rate. Get right out of town.
And how many ‘thief’ classes in MMOs actually ‘steal’ stuff without killing stuff? Come on, admit you’re just a hater.
oh yeah, go tell this to a necro using his mechanic every 10 secs.
Or to a war, using his mechanic every 10 secs.
Or to a guardoam, having 3 abilities every 30-60-90 secs that awards passive bonuses if you don’t actively use them
Or to a ranger, having a permanent companion to manage, while having the chance to activate one of his abilities ( that are all on shorter CDs than steal)
or to an engeneer/ele, having a so difficult mechanic in swapping sets/attunement + 4 toolbelt skills.
Or to a mesmer, that, altough bugged and clunky , has 4 F skill + illusion summoning.Yeah, stealing every 45 secs definitively makes you a thief.
/sarcasmin WoW, with my rogue, i could steal ( lol) every time i went in stealth. Surely more often than GW2 THIEF ( not rogue, THIEF).
Just say you have no clue about other classes.

In terms of sPvP, mesmers have a 10 second full disable for a 1v1.
Thiefs have a 1 second full disable.

Nerf it to 5secs, or give the reciever a health buff, to make it a disable rather then a kitten instant win skill
mesmers definatley put out more damage for how much survivability they have. It takes so long to kill a mesmer, even in their downed state. Where as an elementilist does moderate damage with no survivablility except for using the vapour escape skill.
For thieves, pistol whip is extremely OP, heart seeker not so much. If you get a thief opening on you with heartseeker, you know you will win, but pistolwhip just wrecks anybody on their own. The downed state of thieves is annoying, but not overly strong, like the mesmers. the once thief uses the stealth and port, its over for him.
GUARDIANS oh my god, they can dps, tank, heal all in one kitten build, 1v1 is kitten impossible with someone who knows what they are doing, that needs a big look at.
The idea of sPVP is to play as a team. Its not a solo game afterall. Being able to revive your ally can be crucial in a game.
You can still revive when they are defeated, removing downed states would make classes like elementilist and ranger alot more viable.
Dyes are NOT account-bound, and are traded quite often on the Trading Post.
