Jade Maw bugged when killing it first

We ran in, killed all but 1 tentacle while bringing all the crystals to one location. I don’t know about any bugs about it, but as soon as the Jade Maw was killed, we went for the last tentacle except it didn’t spawn any jade Colossi.

I never saw a post here referring to the bug so I thought I’d throw it out for people to see. Basically, the Jade Maw stops spawning jade colossi when you kill it before killing the requisite number of colossi. My group had 1 tentacle left after killing the Maw so keep that in mind when you fight it.

Also, yes, the bug was reported by the whole team.

300k silk?

Enough to murder a whole town??

Don’t you mean “Mummify a whole town???”

(Seriously, very nice work on the salvage though.)

Need advice for a new warrior

Did you finish your starter zone and immediately move on to the 15+ area? If so, the problem is that you’re level 17. I had it happen with every single class. Basically, there’s just not enough content in that level range to keep you caught up with the difficulty of the zone. Do some crafting or head to a different starter zone to pad your level a bit.

If you’re still in the starter zones, I’m not sure what to tell you. A low-level warrior is a cakewalk compared to elementalist. What are you dying to, exactly?

Yes, I’m currently in the level 15-25 area above plains of ashford. I just finished finding the southern viewpoint where there is a veteran devourer nearby.

Aside from location, an issue I have with playing my warrior as a thief is that I still can’t dodge as much since thieves can potentially dodge 4 times in quick succession when traited properly.

Need advice for a new warrior

Let me start off by saying that I’ve rarely (if ever) play a heavy armor type of character in any RPG. For the most part, I’ve always played as spellcasters or rangers/rogues (I have a maxed out elementalist and thief).

This brings me to my latest problem: playing as a warrior. I decided that I would try to play a warrior for the first time and as some may have guessed, failed pretty badly.

My issues are either I’m not killing things fast enough or I die quickly and am unable to kill something (quickly) while downed in order to rally.

My character’s current level is 17 and has precision gear with dual axes and a rifle.

Any general or specific advice to help a perplexed player out?

I miss some of the old staves of GW1 like the Embercrest staff. Spell caster legendaries are very lackluster.

Remove orrian statue effects near skillpoints

in Suggestions

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

These effects are ridiculous when you are playing solo. It’s even worse since there are almost always 2-4 risen nearby that attack you.

One example that is fresh in my mind is the underwater skill point south of Murray Point in Malchor’s Leap. That statue of Melandru’s effect constantly causes bleeding and cripple while there are over 4 risen that you can easily aggro. This makes reaching the skill point daunting and actually being able to get the skill point an even bigger nightmare.

I was expecting more land based skill buffs, but hey, I’m not complaining. Has anyone tried the 10% bonus pistol damage trait yet? Does it help out or does it fall flat?

Anyone plan on buying the chests again?

I’m pretty sure that Anet is going to release a separate chest instead of having the BLC drop holiday items. After the whole thing with Halloween I doubt they would want to repeat that mistake again.

Akbaroth's Soliloquy

in Elementalist

DanteZero.9736

Ah Akbaroth, speaking about the early months of GW1. Speaking about a time when the enemy AI would stand in damage over time AoE spells like firestorm and WOULDN’T flee. Those were the good ol’ days…

Then Anet went and changed the AI so that enemies would flee from DoT AoE spells. For the first few weeks or so, enemies would flee right after getting struck a second time from the same spell. But gradually, enemy AI was changed so that they would flee when struck for about 3-5 times in a row.

Now, for true GW2 elementalist power, if anyone has played the ele during BWE 1, you’ll know that the elementalist back then was a real sight to fear. Nowadays, we can’t reach 1k damage from a base staff 1 skill (fireball), a few months ago, back in BWE 1… Well, let’s just say 1k was nothing.

(Spoilers) Grenth vs Dwayna confusion

in Lore

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Ok, so for those that didn’t find out from the NPCs in Orr, Grenth is the son of Dwayna and a mortal man.

Now that the info is out of the way, what we (players) know is that the Wintersday has traditionally been about Grenth vs Dwayna and the battle for whether or not spring arrives on time or arrives late.

So what I want to know, and this has been a bit of confusion to me, is that whether or not the whole battle for the weather just a result of traditional (mortal) human emotions and relations between parent and child?

Is Grenth, in some way, a bit of a rebellious child during this time of the year or was it some agreement that he made with Dwayna (his mother)?

Arah path 1: Korga spawns too many minions

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

I just got through Arah path 1 after attempting it for 3 hours. Korga was responsible for an entire hour of it because the group couldn’t kill his gorilla minions fast enough. It’s one thing to spawn 3 gorillas every now and then, it’s another thing to spawn 10+ gorillas in less than 2 minutes while everyone is trying to dodge the giant charging gorilla.

Also, we never completed the path because the door near the end glitched out and didn’t open despite killing the jotun stargazer. Boy, that was fun (not).

Community's Voice: Dungeons

1. Dungeon rewards need to be better. In other words, add a way to get ascended items from the vendors.

2. Champion and legendary ranked enemies take a long time to kill (2 or more minutes, it seems that there is a 4 minute average) yet the rewards aren’t really what is drawing players to fight them. Not even the bags of wondrous goods and the chests with their pitiful loot can compensate.

3. Dungeon token rewards need to be reworked so that it’s not as bad as it is now. Implementing diminishing returns was a bad idea. Rewarding speed runs isn’t what I’d consider a good idea either.

4. The community is fragmented because there is no in game way to find group members across servers of the same region. A solution to address this issue is necessary for the game’s long term health.

5. Different paths take a different amount of time but give out the same end reward. Seriously, if a path takes more time than another path, make sure that it gives out more tokens or has a much higher chance for exotics/ascended items.

6. Revamp story mode rewards. This one is a big one. There is little incentive to play through story mode other than for players to get to explorable mode. Story mode needs a first time completion bonus such as a soulbound-level adjusted exotic weapon of the player’s choice or a moderate amount of tokens (equal to the average of all paths of a dungeon). A rare headpiece just doesn’t cut it since rare items are the 3 best ranking.

7. Some enemies are the sole reason why people don’t go through certain dungeons. Currently, I know Subject Alpha and the Giganticus Lupicus are two such enemies. It’s fine if people want to fight through them, but having them appear at ever single path (either once or multiple times) is annoying to the players.

Make upgrading cores to lodestones cheaper

I’ll keep this short: If we can upgrade xxxx cores to xxxx lodestones in the mystic forge without requiring the elonian wine, the price of lodestones will drop and will be spread to their respective cores. Right now, no one (in the right mind) will ise the mystic forge to upgrade cores to lodestones because of this high barrier.

Can't we get a better & more fun F1 ability?

in Thief

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

My idea would be to make it so there are less items overall to steal, but you get to choose between 4 attacks (F1-F4) to use with each stolen item. So like, if you steal a staff, you could do:

F1 – Lava Font
F2 – Eruption
F3 – Blinding Flash
F4 – Cleansing Rain

I think it would make steal much more interesting and fun…and you would have to really be on the ball and realize what you stole, and how you can best use it very quickly.

This. The issue I would see is that each time you steal from an enemy, you get a different item. If this were to be implemented in a timely manner, I would assume that Anet would have to reduce the amount of different items that can be stolen from each enemy to 1 unique item per species.

Example:
Grawl: Magic totem (the grawl shaman always throw a totem)
Charr: Flintlock Rifle
Bandits: Rusty sword

I haven’t really noticed much of a difference since I equipped the trait. I tested it out by leveling from 65 to 75 and I haven’t noticed much benefit from it at all. Is this trait working properly or is it just me?

Why does everyone hate Trahearne?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Trahearne is the GW2 equivalent of GW: Nightfall’s Kormir; both take will take your spotlight, both are in a higher position than you, and both are considered more important to the history of Tyria than you. At least Trahearne has the decency to step down from his position of power to hand it off to you. Kormir, on the other hand, she didn’t do much.
