While it was nice to have more information about the characters, such as Marjory’s older sister Belinda, did anyone else catch the hint? Belinda mentioned getting sent to Brisban Wildlands to deal with some black market traders that have been disrupting the local economy.

As Brisban Wildlands is home specifically to two particular places of notice (one is more well known than the other), I think we’re going to new explorable zones next. As for why I would say that, it’s because:

  1. We have a dragon waking up in the jungle.
  2. We have a well known part of a level 15-25 map filled with level 80 bandits in a large fort. Huh, how about that?
  3. We have a broken bridge leading to a portal to what is/what was another possible zone to the north of Brisban Wildlands (that is probably a remnant of development).
  4. Anet stated on several occasions that they are willing to go back to cut content and reintroduce it somehow if they have the chance and if the time is ripe for it.
  5. Belinda walks in and says the buzzwords “Brisban Wildlands,” “black market traders,” and “mission.”

  1. Non thrall type Risen: the CC and condition spam make them irritating when traveling.
  2. Aetherblade thumpers and thugs: the thugs can drop a five figure damage warbanner on top of you and the thumpers have the ludicrous invincibility shield in addition to their immobilize.
  3. Champion molten protectors: normal variations aren’t bad when people organize to pull and kill them outside of their ring of fire, but you can’t do that with the champions because of the defiant stacks.

My apologies for inventing this. Anet brought it to us, but nobody in their right mind is ever going to make these things.

Seriously, Anet. Five Ascended level mats for a 1 hour 90 minute buff item?

Why did you even bring this out?

Don’t apologize since if you didn’t bring this up, I (or some other player) would have suggested it.

Now, in terms of getting what you wished for, why not suggest a lower cost to the crafting? Preferably 1 or 2 of each ascended material rather than 5 of each.

It’s some sort of 3DS max (an animation/modeling application) related error. I (and many others) experienced this error and after doing a bit of research, I assume that the game is looking for a file that doesn’t exist. Someone said I should try a -repair install but nothing happened for me. Others said I should redownload the entire .dat file but my connection is so painfully slow that it wouldn’t be a viable fix for me.

This can be strong but I fear it won’t. Maybe, without an icd and 1-2s quickness, I will prefer it over the FGS. We’ll see, I hope for the best^^
Edit: I don’t know if ether renewal is affected by quickness, but when it is.. I’d love it^^

Ether renewal is affected by quickness, though, the 50% faster skill activation feels more like a 25% faster activation to me.

I guess it’s because the original 100% quickness value caused the skill charge meters to move halfway and then instantly fill up rather than instant casting which is what I associated with 100% values.

I really like the mystic forged pistols over Quip. I don’t find anything about a bubble gun to be that “legendary” of a pistol. I have some vague ideas about what might be happening, but I assume most of the names refer to projectile animations and skeletal riggings issues with attunement effects at the hands/wrists of my elementalist.

Confusion: why no DoT effect?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Making the Confusion do DOT just change completely the nature of the condition. I would prefer that the confusion make dmg proportional to the attack the ennemy perform. Right now it a fix amount of dmg per stack.

This is a really good idea. 1 stack at 0 Condition Damage = 1% “reflect” of damage. Like Retaliation, but a Condition version.

I’d just prefer that enemies attack faster (with less powerful hits) as this would also help the game be more than Zerk or Go Home, but this would certainly be a way to make Confusion viable.

If confusion were to be the condition version of retaliation but with a percentage of damage per stack, then how will condition damage come into play?

As for enemies attacking faster but with less damage per hit, that seems to be the way to go. Combat would require players to have better timing with blinds and blocks for the big and easily telegraphed attacks. As for confusion, faster attacks would make confusion a much better condition.

I’d really like it if #5 just straight did Blocks instead of absorbing projectiles, so you can block attacks for allies in the radius.

Shield of Judgement was a Guild Wars 1 elite skill. Plenty of GW2 skills are named after GW1 skills.

QoL improvement - Keybind consumables?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

If I remember correctly, Colin said they (Anet) are avoiding adding a keybind for consumables because they fear it makes players feel forced to use them. Respectfully, I disagree since I rarely use consumables in open world at level 80 simply because I hate having to open my inventory, searching for the right consumable, and then double clicking it.

Just like the OP, I would love to have a keybind for consumables. Something along the lines of using the " – " and the " = " keys right next to the “0” key seems to make sense as default keybinds.

Armor designs

DanteZero.9736

He chose cultural armor as an example, but a lot of other armor could benefit from having tick-able parts.

Like if you tick off the tights in the magician armor , the lower coat in the seeker set . Or all those coat/skirts on themale light armor sets.

Ticking things on my be a bit more tricky to do because they’ll have to add new textures and we don’t want some terrible job like what they did for Orrian Heavy. But it’d be something nice : that way players who want skimpy can have them and players who want less revealing armor will also be happy.

I suggested this in the CDI for horizontal progression but iirc, someone mentioned that it was more inline with vertical progression.

Profession Changes

Elementalist:
Our changes for the elementalist focus on increasing sustain while maintaining the delicate balance between damage and durability. We achieved this by adding more defensive effects to a few main-hand weapon sets.

  • Signet of Restoration: Removed the split on this skill so that the signet passive heal amount will be increased in PvP to match the current PvE amount.
  • Armor of Earth: Reduced recharge from 90 seconds to 75 seconds.
  • Water Trident: Added 3 seconds of regeneration to up to 5 allies in the radius.
  • Burning Speed: This ability now evades attacks.
  • Frozen Burst: This ability is now a blast finisher.

Nah, I’m done with the game now. Stopped playing for weeks already, and this post is just proving that my time is indeed much better spend at something else.

In no single way can a company be this blind. In no way can the Elementalist community, that keeps getting smaller and smaller, actually communicate with ArenaNet.
How can it still not be clear to you guys that the elementalist is in need of much more help then.. whatever it is that you seemingly assume to be a buff now.

About the water trident…. What team support do you think a 3 second regen is in a group fight anyways. And that is when assuming the slow moving low radius projectile actually succeeds hitting 1 ally. ( no way it will hit more then 2, lucky if it hits both you and 1 other ally. Always putting yourself in harmsway when doing so ).

This must be said. I lost my trust in you guys a while ago, still clinging on the fact that some parts about the game are great and Guild Wars 1 was amazing. But now it’s gone too far, these minor and simply depressing changes after such a long time where it was AND is literally impossible to play an Elementalist with any positive outcome seriously makes me wonder why other people still care to play this, now passive and braindead game.

I’m a rank 50 Elementalist, always played Elementalist the most and have 2k hours on my Elementalist alone. Unless something changed the last 3 weeks that I didn’t play, I am 100% sure that this is NOT the right decision of ArenaNet once again, regarding Ele’s.

Simply amazing.

( Removed a mistake on my behalf )

I’m assuming you don’t remember much about balance updates in GW1 or else you would realize by now that it took Anet almost seven years (balance update on January 2012 and later in September 2012) to rework the elementalist and address issues with the elementalist damage in hard mode…

Almost SEVEN YEARS and that doesn’t include the fact that the second balance update in September 2012 addressed more issues— several weeks after GW2 was released and alot of people were playing the new shiny thing that was GW2 by then.

Since Anet is aiming for a slow balance approach, I would assume they know alot more about what’s in store than us, the playerbase. However, yes, I too share the same feeling of disappointment with the seeming disconnection between the player and developer views that is going on with class balance decisions.

I’ve had the exact same problem with my gtx 670 and had to send for an RMA. As for why it’s artifacting, I can only suggest other steps to see if it’s the GPU or if it’s another problem (taken from EVGA’s customer support email):

  1. If possible, try checking to see if it’s the motherboard’s problems by testing the GPU with another computer or in a different motherboard slot.
  2. Check in the bios to see if the +12v rail is giving you an 11.5v – 12.5v reading. If it’s less than 11.5 or more than 12.5, it could be the power supply.

ELEtism Discussion #2: Elementalist Utilities

in Elementalist

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

The earth elemental (from the elite glyph) is amazing for acting as a tank when you’re rezzing a dead or downed party member.

The fact that I’ve watched the earth elemental tank the lupicus head on while I rezzed two party members (one by myself and the other with the recently rezzed player) has made me a little biased towards it. Also, the earth ele stood up pretty well against mai trinn and horrik in fractals while rezzing dead players.

As for the fire elemental, in my opinion, it could be better if it didn’t have such low health and attacked at range instead of melee. The air elemental I find really bad and could be better if it had swirling winds. As for the water(ice) elemental, I think it could be better if it didn’t die so quickly compared to the earth elemental.

One with Fire/flame barrier...Thoughts?

in Elementalist

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

In my opinion, flame barrier isn’t of any use at all and both are just traits that are a leftover from a time when of the class was previewed. Seriously, look it up, there are previews that mention the elementalist causing mayhem when attuning to each element, punishing people when they hit the ele, etc.

What’s bad is that both traits are based on getting hit—something that you don’t want happening with the low base armor and health.

What’s worse is that one trait increases the effectiveness of the other trait over time while attuned to one element yet the elementalist is expected to change attunements often.

Flame barrier and one with fire, in my opinion, should be reworked or replaced because they offer no defensive, offensive, or support benefits at all. Besides, what can a one second burn do to a melee attacker-assuming the RNG is in your favor and actually triggers?

Edit: Also, op, do you think you can add " :Thoughts " to your title so it can be a bit more clear?

Also, how did Anet arrive to the conclusion that PvE players had so much fun that they stay? What is the percentage of players that actually stay compared to the ones that leave? Did they account for PvE players that joined for the season achievements and reward chest? What are their data metrics on players that don’t play wvw if it wasn’t on world completion (if any)?

[PvX][Ele] Utility skills are a letdown

in Profession Balance

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

In all honesty I don´t even use Cantrips on my ele.
Maybe cantrips are popular with new players because they need to learn how to play it, but effectively arcane blast arcane shield have alot of useful sides to it.
Not to mention the fact you can use arcane shield offensive and defensive.

Signet of air is definitly used by some elementalists since in combat movement speed is reduced to a point that signet and swiftness stack up ontop of eachother which grants you faster movement.

Speed buffs don’t stack.

Glyph of storms can be useful in WvW.

I have never encountered a situation where it was useful. I suppose it’s only me then.

As for why Arcane blast needing a buff beats me, It´s a free blast finisher and a nice damage boost on top of the damage you already have. Plus it´s an instant cast.

Arcane blast is a projectile skill, arcane wave is a blast finisher and the skill you’re thinking about. Skill names shouldn’t be causing this kind of confusion no matter what game.

Although i really like the 6s weakness from the signet itself, the ease as where people can remove conditions at the moment pretty much renders it useless.
It could really use a change, won´t be seeing condition removal recieving a change anytime soon.

What skill are you talking about and what signet causes 6 seconds of weakness??

I personally think elementalists wouln´t be needing much of a change if they ever so decide to shave some of the top tier classes in the current meta.
2 in particular for PvP , for as far as WvW goes, unless I´m roaming I´ll probably be running around with a staff anyway…

What are these 2 classes that you refer to in PvP and why do you think elementalists don’t need much change?

[PvX][Ele] Utility skills are a letdown

in Profession Balance

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Cantrips are popular because they provide survivability and defense-something I feel that is sorely lacking. The other utility lines are supposed to offer different utility, yet it feels like some of the skills are just a letdown.

There are several skills in particular that I feel are a major letdown:

  1. Signet of fire’s active effect provides a long burn duration that can be removed in PvP, and in PvE, doesn’t really do much since damage conditions aren’t useful.
  2. Signet of air was made a stunbreaker and it feels like that the buff was a decision to make the 30 second cooldown justified.
  3. Signet of water’s active effect, I believe, is just a weird balance decision. Our passive effect feels way more powerful than its active 4 second single target chill effect. If anything, this signet shouldn’t chill a single foe, but instead, remove 2 movement based conditions.
  4. Arcane blast is a low damage auto crit with a 20 second cooldown. What part of this skill is supposed to provide utility?? This skill needs a buff or a rework. Buff example: scale with weapon strength and have a power bonus modifier of .6 or higher
  5. Glyph of storms has too long of a cooldown. It deals low damage and can be avoided easily.
  6. Glyph of elemental power is by far, in my opinion, the worst offender of weird balance decisions. Why is this glyph, which provides a passive buff that affects your attacks, which is something you want active as much as possible, a stunbreaker, which is something you activate when CC’ed? If you guys decide to keep it as a stunbreaker, at least let it provide better utility in the form of an immediate benefit akin to the cantrips line instead of a 30 second long passive buff.
