All go melee and she doesn’t use Venom Spray.

Do you have any advice for dealing with her initial adds that spawn with her as well?

It seems a large amount of the groups I’m in can’t seem to deal with them too.

No More New Currencies for New Rewards

Added a +1 because I’ve posted two of these kinds of topics in the past and they all got misinterpreted or moved to the suggestions forum.

On topic: Yes, there are too many currencies floating around. I do hope Anet stops adding more and instead adds more of previous types instead. At this rate, it seems as if the content teams aren’t communicating with each other so that their content can integrate well with each other’s content (if that made sense in any way).

Please, no more new currency

in Suggestions

DanteZero.9736

We now have a total of 8 types of currency:

1. Coins (gold)
2. Gems
3. Tokens (basically anything that takes up inventory/storage space and can traded in for something from an NPC)
4. Karma
5. Glory
6. Influence
7. Laurels
8. Commendations (NEW)

For PvE, that’s 7 types already and before commendations, it was laurels! While this isn’t some sort of angry rant or troll post, I’m really growing alarmed that the content teams would add more and more types of currency in the game.

To me, the game is (slowly) starting to feel bloated by the amount of currency types that we have. Going forward with March and future updates, I’m hoping that you will reconsider adding more currency types but instead reward more of the current types.

In fact, karma, which was lauded pre-release, should get some more attention.

Anet, we have 8 types of currency to juggle around. Why not leave it at that?

Edit: To clarify, I think WP meant he didn’t the traditional quests involving:

1. Killing x amount of things
2. Collecting x amount of things
3. Kill something and bring something back

Instead, he meant he would want more of those mini one-time per character events that would add more context, lore, or information surrounding the environments such as the charr tank.

If anyone was curious, check out the NPC here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Riff_Sootclaw

You mean something along the lines of your personal story? I think it’s already in-game.

Personal story involves instances and loading said instances, I think he (WP) meant events that are already a part of the zone. You didn’t have to go to a unique instance to speak to Riff (the NPC in the link).

While the thought of traditional “kill x” scares away many, WP didn’t mean those kind of traditional quests. Rather, I agree with WP on the matter of having more ways to interact with the world and making stick to the player’s mind more IE: the option to repair the tank in the Iron Marches.

Personally, I remember that I did that event and got the town clothing reward of a bandanna and thought that it was pretty cool.

To me, something like that stuck to me because I did that (for lack of a better term) “mini quest” without knowing full well what was genuinely in it for me. The only thing the NPC said was that he’d make it worth my while and so I pursued it to see what would happen.

More "hair" styles for sylvari

in Suggestions

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

As it stands, sylvari have various forms of “hair” such as giant mushrooms/fungi, twigs/bark, and leaves.

What I want to know is that since sylvari are plant based, why aren’t there more styles based on other plants/plant parts?

There are many different types of leaves with different shapes and other forms of vegetation other than leaves such as moss and to some extent, grass. There are even needles of cacti (though that seems to be a real stretch) and vines!

What I’m just hoping for is that there are more styles for sylvari using more types of plants than just twigs, bark, leaves, and mushrooms. Vines, moss (hey, moss afro could happen), and grass seem to be equally suitable candidates for “hair” styles too!

Auto-use consumables button

DanteZero.9736

I wouldn’t mind a small UI addition too. However, Anet wants to create as clean of a UI as possible (hahaha, that dirt border around the screen sure is clean).

To be honest, if something like this were added, Anet could make aware the possibilities of using consumables AND it could be done through dailies IE: assign and use 5 (or 10) different consumable items through this function.

What Anet could do is to use the daily events to help train and aid players through learning different or new functionalities that they will add.

Consumables are pretty useful and very helpful in places like Arah. The one thing I noticed is that not even a majority of players I’ve grouped with bothers with consumables.

My suggestion is seemingly simple (I don’t know how hard it will be to implement): Have a button that can auto-use a consumable when you press it. Players can right click and assign 1 single consumable to the button and then press said button to activate it.

Allow engineer kits to have an auto attack

in Suggestions

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Since I started playing an engineer, I noticed the engineer kits don’t seem to have an auto attack option. I’ve been using the flamethrower and grenade kits and that has me wondering, if elementalist conjured weapons have an auto attack option, why can’t engineers have an auto attack option for their kits?

For example, take the grenade kit and allow the grenade 1 skill the option to be an auto attack similar to its underwater functionality. This way, players should be able to manually target if they’d like, or auto attack if they’re in a long fight.

Issues with the Champion Undead Abomination

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Besides the obvious leashing issue with the charge—which should probably be fixed somehow, since it’s incredibly annoying—you absolutely must NOT let it hit things to build frenzy. If it builds frenzy, people will die. I saw the same thing killing it with a bunch of random people last night: People went into melee range, didn’t dodge; it hit people, built to 23 stacks of frenzy, and all but me and three other people ranging it died. Range and dodge, or melee and dodge if you can.

Situations like that, where other players are in melee range and are stupid enough NOT to dodge, are an issue but not something that can be solved. If anything, I wouldn’t mind if the charge was excluded from the berserk boost.

Issues with the Champion Undead Abomination

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

I’ve never fought the one outside the waypoint in Cursed Shore, but I do take two Champion Abominations in an event chain in Straights of Devastation. The charge attack always gave us enough warning to dodge if we were paying attention—unless we let it build frenzy, in which case everything it does becomes almost instant. However, I do agree with the charge distance; we try to angle them toward rocks for precisely the reason you mention: if we don’t, we’re afraid he’ll run too far, leash, and reset. It’s also bothersome that he’ll be chasing someone, turn another direction to do the pre-charge animation, then turn a third, completely different direction to charge at a player. It’s probably intended, but I find it strange he turns one direction to begin the animation, then charges another. Kind of a fake-out. We just both end up dodging, just in case.

Are you letting it build frenzy?

It had 10 stacks of frenzy when my guild was fighting it. It jumped up to 20. I also forgot to mention it was in Cursed Shore so thank you for reminding me.

Issues with the Champion Undead Abomination

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

1. Its charge attack is almost instant and therefore, gives players almost no time to react.

2. Its charging distance causes it to automatically venture much further than its spawn point and wondering area which causes it to become invulnerable until it moves back to said spawn point.

3. During this “post charge” moment, it’s possible that it begins to heal up.

4. Given how the abomination charges A LOT and causes itself to become invulnerable a lot, this drastically delays the fight and at times, causes an inadvertent health “reset” of sorts.

Edit: This Champion Undead Abomination is fought during the DE in Cursed Shore after Plinx’s chain. I don’t know if other champions abominations have this issue, but I thought I’d highlight a specific case and maybe get it examined.

Human Bias

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DanteZero.9736

I’ve noticed something like that too when I was reaching 100% world completion. If you look at the asuran/sylvari lands, they both share a leval 15-25 zone (brisban wildlands).

They don’t have their own areas that reach level 25+ while the charr, norn, and humans all have those areas reaching up to the 40s, 50s, and 60s.

More currency types in the future?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Well, I just noticed that with the addition of laurels, we will have 6 types of currency available:

1. Gold
2. Karma
3. Gems
4. Tokens
5. Glory
6. Laurels

I’m concerned that more types might be added in the future as new content is available. The one scenario that has me worrying is when a player has to juggle between 10+ types of currency and to be honest, having more than 5 is a bit frightening to me.

I know that glory is pvp based, and that would leave 5 (or 4, depending your view on gems) types for PvE, but when you consider how we must balance between gold, karma, tokens, and laurels, it just seems like we’re on the verge of slowly growing convoluted.

In the original GW, rollerbeetle racing was hampered at times by lag and the lack of a z-axis. I would assume that, given all this (real life) time that has passed, we’d have better technology and connections to ensure near smooth performance with accurate score keeping (no more z-axis issues).

While the glyph could be better at times (range issues as the OP mentioned), it’s helped me a tremendous amount during fights against the giganticus in arah exp. When you have a warrior who just rezzed someone with his warbanner and someone else goes down, having that glyph is amazing.

That being said, I wouldn’t mind a standardized range across all variations IE: 900 for every variant.

(PvE) Staff build for Dungeons/Fractals

I prefer ether renewal as the heal skill since it has a much lower cooldown and helps out a lot during the more intense fractal fights.

It also removes a condition each pulse and I’m pretty sure there is a total of 8 pulses over the 3.5 second channeling time.

Not using a glyph also allows me to free up my air 10 trait and go with an extra 20% damage to enemies below 33% health.

100% map completed, didn't receive reward

I just completed 100% of the map (both WvW maps and PvE maps) and didn’t get a letter or chest for completing it.

I was in the Sanctum of Rall’s borderlands when I found my last PoI, got downed by an enemy mesmer, and then rallied.

I then left the borderlands map for the Heart of the Mists and opened the borderland’s map completion reward chest and then left for LA.

I’m thinking of making a might stacking build just for the hell of it. I don’t plan on PvP’ing with this build and is purely PvE (I Might test it out on fractals 10-20). That being said, currently, I have:

  • 2 superior runes of the monk (+20% boon duration)
  • 2 superior runes of water (+20% boon duration)
  • 2 superior runes of hoelbrak (+20% might duration)

Right now, I’m torn between full berserker’s armor (CoF) and giver’s (which is far more than I’d like to spend). Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

Ice Spike (staff skill) might surprise you

in Elementalist

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

It’s a really good skill and even in PvE high end areas it’s one of the skills I always try to use at least twice on an enemy.

In PvP though, it’s like eruption, it’s good—but only if it can hit someone. If it doesn’t hit, which is a large amount of the time (dodging), it’s mostly used as a deterrent to prevent enemies from advancing.

To be honest, I wouldn’t mind a small reduction in the detonation times for Ice Spike and Eruption such as a .25 second reduction. Being able to hit someone (most of the time) with Eruption and Ice Spike in PvP would be nice.
