I also play on Sanctum of Rall but got banned for account issues.
There seems to be an abnormally number of us from SoR here, did you also get a “lag” issue that caused you to port back a few times as well prior to getting banned?

You aren’t the only guild leader that had this happen. Heard of a few by now. Also several groups within guilds that were playing together. Real people behind a computer really gaming that is, not the botting they are accused of.
What they do not realize is that it will be pretty bad for the servers when guilds starts to leave cause they feel its better to move to another game. Mediocre gamers (such as me) need this experienced well organized group to put the juice in the game. They bring forward the leaders that know how to organize and run the stuff that is fun.
I saw a guild leader from my server Sanctum of Rall complain here a few days ago that he got banned also and I’m an officer myself of a 500-man guild VR.
Also what’s “funny” about this is I was on TS3 and talking to the people on my party when I got banned….what a smart bot I must be -_- no but seriously this is a completely ridiculous situation. Even more so when I see people post here that they have had a ticket pending for over a week.
in that case dark revan they shouldnt have profanity filter open if they take offence easily. thats my opionion.
It will for the majority of the time depends on what you are saying and who it is to. Anyway, good luck and I hope support gets back to you.
The best way is try not to swear. You never know what’s offensive to others. There are a lot of things not filtered even with filter on. Since there is no clear black and white about to what degree is “allowed”, the best solution is not to do it.
Yes I agree I never swear in map or say but it isn’t much of a problem for me since I use TS to talk to people anyway.
But yeah you should avoid swearing because even if it doesn’t seems offensive to you some people might, and report you.

Walking alone, while chatting with party members (!), I entered Gendarran Fields for the first time. There, I saw a mining cave. As soon as I tried to enter the cave, all of a sudden I got teleported a few meters back. I thought it was just an innocent bug, and I tried to enter the cave again. But I got teleported again, to the same spot. I tried maybe one or two other times, and then the game shut down. I was accused for botting, and my account is now permanently terminated. I hope you guys will fix this soon. If not, then I’ve paid a lot of money for only a few hours of gaming time.
Interesting…just after I entered Cursed Shore from Malchors Leap I had this occur to me as well. It kept pulling me back over and over until I dodge rolled and it let me go on for a few seconds. Enough to go to the nearest NPC vendor to buy some picks and just as I was about to buy them I get banned and booted from the game.
48 hours and still counting. Only a bot response from them. They do care….
Also 2 days for me and not even a bot response so far, guess I’ll be posting in the other thread tomorrow.
Aye, I’m with you on that my friend. Unfortunately I feel that I might not receive a response today. However, I hope that we’re both wrong and receive one. I do believe they are working as fast as they can, but I wish that this process was a lot faster. I feel that they could of at least done some kind of process before booting me and marking me as a bot. I can answer any questions they would need in order to prove that I was playing during that time. Maybe next time they will have an admin question you before a kick. Best luck to us both. =[

My husband called it rubber banding when it happened to me. Happened while plinx just started the chopper landing part thingy. Minute or two later I got kicked out and than when I treid to get back in the ban mention popt on my screen.
Wrote that in the report too.Its wierd. First time ok, that happens at times that you are kicked back a few steps. Its irritating but it happened since day one. But when its repeated being pulled back its far from standard.
Yes I thought it had something to with my connection somehow but there seems to be something up with this. I was basically stopping me from going forward as it would port me back to the start but it stopped after I rolled, then as soon as I talked to the NPC I get booted and banned.

Three days and counting… Both of my accounts are still banned with no reply from Anet to my support tickets.
My support tickets are: Incident: 121110-000369 and Incident: 121110-000355
I thought it was innocent until proven guilty? What is this system they got where you’re guilty until proven innocent? Do I get any compensation for the mistake made by a banning bot? Very despotic way Anet is running things, I’m very disappointed. Why so secretive about everything? Anet mods are quick to close down threads, but it takes them days, weeks, and even months to reply to a support ticket? I’m sure it doesn’t take long to check my accounts and see that nothing illegal was done. I was just trading gold between my own accounts, gold which I purchased from Anet via Gem Cards… This is ridiculous. No emails to verify why you got banned… No in-game support… No phone line… Remind to never play a F2P game again.
Quite frankly I have played F2P games that have better support than this. Also what makes this worse is that this game isn’t even F2P it’s B2P (buy to play) so we forked over money to get this type of treatment….

No, just because there is a profanity filter does not mean its allowed. Its in the rules of conduct. That would explain why you are banned for a week.
I heard swearing is allowed to some degree if it isn’t directed at anyone and/or if it isn’t in excess.

Not if you directly offend someone. Theres a difference from saying “Man that boss was hard as kitten” and “That boss was hard because of you, you kittener” or something along those lines. However if you were hacked like someone said above it could have been anything.

This could mean that you were hacked and someone is accessing your acount….but then again if it’s suspended they shouldn’t be able to.

That did occur to me, but the second I got my first suspension notice I changed my password (my times with WoW trained me well) and I also have e-mail authentication enabled so anyone but me I have to click the e-mail link. Plus it’s suspended so I have no idea.
On the first day this happened I got excited thinking maybe it was a support tech but whoever fake me is has now played longer than I have total.
It’s not a big deal obviously there’s more important things happening right now. I was just curious.
If you were in fact hacked this might be a-nets way to prevent people from accessing your account, since it will be online already they (the hackers) won’t be able to take anything.

Could have been something you said in-game, but then again with all this mess going on who knows. I was also banned 2 days ago for “unacceptable behaviour” but was then it was changed to “botting” so I don’t know what’s going on with a-net recently but they need to step up and tell people what’s going on and resolve this BS.

I found the issue in the dev tracker.
According to CC EVA it seems that they Ban you and make you prove that you are not a BOT.
What a piss poor way to handle botting. I would imagine that they could come up with a whole lot better way.
Where I work we have a whole lot more sophisticated way of finding fraud, and account hacking.

same thing happened to me last night i made a ticket and still no response i made a few posts and nothing, this is messed up, i get banned for playing the game, lol its so messed up please figure this mess out please and make it quick i got karma armor to get for my warrior<<the reason i was farming plinx in the first place. you guys could atleast keep us posted on what u are doing to resolve this issue.
Well they aren’t even considering this an issue but a case of false positives and “botters” responding here pretending to be false positives. Proof of this is people are STILL getting banned and flagged as bots. They need to stop the bans and review and unban us legitimate players who were only playing the game.

Having read Gaile’s message she states that it is NOT a automated sytstem.
If that is truly the case then the person who is doing all the BAD banning should be fired, or at the least have to answer the phone and explain and prove why he/she banned legitimate players.
I agree. I’d so love to have a talk with whoever is in charge of this.
Same, it would definitely be interesting to hear their justification for this mess. If I screwed up like this at work I would be fired.

I been out since the 9th, my original ticket still has no rsp, yet i see ppl getting there accounts back with a higher ref# than mine.
Ref #121110-000597, now i got no rsp so i went back, found the post on the proper way to address and I got this Ref # 121110-001459, to which i got a reply of we’re busy and it usally takes 48 hours or longer depending on the situation. That was the 9th and its the 12th that is 3 days no game, someone pls take a look at my account I am getting really fed up with waiting.

Day 2 of being banned. I was banned on the 10th of this month at around 12 PM. I still haven’t heard anything from anyone. I hope that this matter is resolved as quickly as possible. 121110-002031 is my ticket number that I updated with even more information to help with the process. Please help our this community so we can all enjoy this great game and play with our friends. =[

Hello , i heard right now from my guild that if we play or walk near a bot we get reported 15 times by the bots and make our account banned is that true ? if it is true i hope Anet is going to hurry and do something about it , I realy dont wanna be banned for mistaken report.
I need confirmation of this quickly please , because i am afraid to go PvE now …

There is nothing automatic about their bot bans.
If so then whoever is responsible for all these innocent bans needs fired.
Or someone needs to look at how it is possible for them to mistake people for bots when they are OBVIOUSLY not botting. In many cases these “false positives” happen with people who never did anything bot-like and should never be mistaken for bot, so ANet needs to figure out why the person handling the reports is making these huge mistakes.

Thats a great idea! either that or have a PIN after the log in stage. What I mean by this is when choosing a character have a PIN there, I know of a few games that do this when selecting a character. This would make it so even if they are able to know your account and password they would also need to know the PIN to be able to get any further.

I did ask them to include it, although I have a feeling it is the amount of reports. I have a really whacky Ele build that allows me to heal for a lot and remove more conditions than people can stack on me. It just appears as if I take no damage and I can become invuln a lot, so I can understand why people would think I am hacking and report me in WvW.
Then again, I can’t regulate that. People will report whomever they feel like…
My guild leader suggested to me in TS3, when I was banned, that WvW reports might have been the cause as well since I do it often but personally after reading a lot of these issues here in the forums I don’t believe it was people reporting me in WvW but the ban system in gw2 that needs to be sorted out.

What is concerning is the number of players that are making the posts about being wrongfully banned who are getting their accounts back.
There are quite a few.
This either means something went wrong in this ban wave, or all of these people are bots who got their accounts back.
Also, this means that there is something that I have personally done to make it seem as if I am botting to Arenanet if there really isn’t a problem with that ban system and maybe there should be a post about how to act on your character in order to not be wrongfully banned.
This is what concerns me.
Many people think it could be:
-Vicinity, like you mentioned.
-Activity, for the people who farm a lot.
-Number of reports, based on the people banned who only WvW.
-A bad algorithm.
-VPN usage
-Mouse/keyboard program usage that binds 1-1, no macros.
-Multiple login points for the same user.Can any of these be confirmed or denied so we can know how to not be banned int he future?
I doubt they will respond because revealing that information will benefit bot users but I’d like to know as well what caused them to wrongfully ban me, so I propose they include in the ticket or via email when it is confirmed you didn’t bot what was the actual cause.
Any game that auto bans after a certain amount of reports is a dumb game. GW2 doesnt do this. No game that has competent developers does this.
All these ppl saying I got banned in WvW while attacking a keep clearly dont understand how BANNING IN WAVES works. You see instead of banning ppl while they are hacking/botting w.e, they wait days or weeks after you have already commited the act. This lets them review many cases to make sure they are getting the right accounts banned. Then when they are ready they do a mass ban on all those accounts they were keeping track of. So all this “I was doing a dungeon and got banned” is utter BS. You were either botting days or even weeks ago or someone on your account was.
And yes there are some ppl who got banned who didnt do anything wrong, and my Question to Anet is how are you getting these ppl messed up with the actually trouble makers? Or is it that 99% of those posters in that other thread are lieing. I tend to believe that the majority of the are but who knows.
You are right, I DON’T know how banning in waves work because I have never been banned in any MMO much less accused of botting. I also used think like you do and believe that everyone who protested against such accusations were guilty but now I see thats not always the case….I just hope that you never get falsely banned for botting and have to read comments like the one you just made.

We work very hard to help every legitimate player get back onto his/her account. And we will continue to do so. If we make an error, we will own up to that and make it right. (Hence the entire existence of the “Tickets for Review” thread — another means to ensure we do help legitimate players!) I read ppl being banned for “botting” while they were fighting in WvW… so be afraid to go everywhere.
I was gathering Ori in cursed shore when it happened and was using TS3, and a friend of mine also told me this, since I WvW a lot. Apparently some people report others in WvW to troll or just because they got owned or whatever (one of the servers we are playing against has a bad name due to certain things but I digress). However after coming on the forums and seeing that a LOT of people are having the same problem as me I doubt it was that. A bot reporting people that come close seems far-fetched but I guess at this point anything is possible….
People report others in WvW they can’t explain. If you have a stealth class (culling) or a high regen class (ele or Engineer), they might nto be able to explain why you are invisible and why your health is not going down, therefore yes they will report you and since there is no section for “Hacking” they will report you under “Botting”.
Put in a support ticket under ask a question and wait. It could be over a week with the current influx of bans that have been made falsely.
Oh I put a ticket in as soon as I was banned…I hope this doesn’t cause us to miss the Lost Shores update…..

Good news, they must be working weekends, my ticket number was 121109-000560 and I was restored today. When I logged in I had mail from a gold farmer and they were spamming the chat boards non stop in lions arch. I personally think what may have happened is [out on a limb] hackers may have compromised a large number of passwords and the teams quarantined as many of those accounts as possible. That may or may not be correct, but it makes more sense than being banned for botting when you are innocent. Be patient folks, it seems like they are trying hard despite the fact you can’t see that. I was out for just over two days, and it was a sad time for me. I’m going to have to look into get that authenticater today when I get back on. God Speed Tyrians

Same here.
Obviously someone/something screwed up and this is a mistake but it makes no sense and doesn’t give me a lot of confidence in the running of this game.
Again, I am brand new to MMOs with GW2 so I’m not sure if this happens in other games, is common and I just need to wait for a resolution or what. It’s very questionable though.
Same for me, if I still haven’t gotten my account by tomorrow I will file a complaint too. Regarding the new to MMO thing, I have played a lot of them ranging from subscription based games to free to play and I have NEVER been banned much less accused of botting, this whole situation is offensive to me since I personally hate people that use bots. Waiting for a resolution is normal though regarding tickets, what’s not normal however is banning innocent players for something they did not do.

#121109-000508 I placed this ticket Thursday evening. I have heard nothing from support and my account is still banned for botting. I see alot of people saying they are lvl80 and farming when they got banned. My highest character is lvl53. I was just running in areas around my lvl trying to advance my lvl. No farming at all.
Farming isn’t a ban-able offence. That would be ridiculously stupid. I don’t farm in Orr myself since I do dungeons for the majority of my time but there is nothing wrong with farming as long as it is done by you, not a program.

Anet, get it together, your customer support is completely lack luster. All these people including myself who have been banned can do nothing but wait for you to “investigate”. What does this investigation involve? I mean, I have only been banned for 2 days, but what about the people who are saying its been weeks? they won’t be getting anything in-game for all the time you have cost them and it isn’t fair. I can understand a mistake, but what I cannot understand is the amount of time it’s taking to sort out and how we will get nothing for being wrongly banned. You must, step up your customer support. You cannot just take all the time you see fit to deal with something. And also, it really isn’t fair to tell people, stay away from areas where there are bots, I paid to play the entire game, I should be able to go where I want in the game, for as long as I want, without fear of being banned by some flawed system. I guess that isn’t the case.
Just wanted to post that I +1’d your post as I completely agree. This whole situation is ridiculous and I have been civil about this but it’s getting to a point where I am losing my patience. Not even one word from A-Net here or in my ticket.

Additional Note: I have well over 2k achievements and I do dailies, WvW, dragon events, and jumping puzzles…. I highly suggest A-net to take a look at our activity log in greater detail and that might help in distinguishing between botters and actual players.
Exactly. I’m sure it this whole mess could have been avoided if they actually checked activity logs, achievements, etc. What a huge mess….

Some notes:
- If your account is terminated for botting, contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page.
- Generally you will be helped very quickly (the average is well under 24 hours) but if you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the [url=If your ticket is three days old or older, you you are welcome to post in the Tickets for Review thread and we’ll get it on our review list.
- Don’t post here repeatedly, or heatedly, or as a call to get everyone to pick up their great swords and make this a crusade. If your posts consist of the same repeated complaints, you are putting your forum privileges at risk. This sort of commentary contributes nothing to our ability to help players or to correct any issues related to false positives and we truly want to help!
- We know there are false positives. When you’re banning thousands, there is some chance that an innocent player will be banned. We regret that deeply, and we work constantly to improve the processes (which are not automatic, by the way) to avoid false positives.
- Most importantly, you should know that a number of the people in this thread posting about their “unjust ban” are, in fact, botters. There is no way in hell that the banning process is not automatic or a lot of us wouldn’t have been banned.
Of course I can’t speak for everyone but do bots do dungeons everyday and have dungeon gear? explore maps, participate in halloween events, do jumping puzzles, talk in guild ( for which I am a officer in ), kill the World Dragons, etc.? There are just so many ways to determine if a player is actually a bot or not that this is a frankly ridiculous situation I’m in (and a lot of other innocent players too).
I think it would be in the best interest of EVERYONE if someone from A-Net could come out here and verify that this is in fact their screw up.

With as many people being falsely banned as there are, it is quite shocking that there has been no official word from ArenaNet in a bigger announcement type format. This is getting absolutely silly. I have been banned for nearly 2 days now and I have seen probably over 100 people post on this forum about being falsely accused. Now obviously there is some people who are really bots and I don’t blame ArenaNet for taking their time to reinstate accounts that were banned prematurely, but this is getting out of hand. It is unacceptable for any MMO developer to ban people from a service like this without any form of compensation. People should at least get some free gems out of this or something. I am being patient as I possibly can.
It is very scary and stressful to think that I could be banned forever from a game I enjoy for something I did not do. I know, being innocent, I should not worry about it..but it is hard not to. I know there are a lot of other people in the same boat as me, who know they are innocent but are scared they won’t get unbanned. Sure, ArenaNet tells us that if we are innocent our account will be restored…but in that case; why were we banned in the first place? If they can prove our innocence, shouldn’t they have been able to do that in the first place?

And peace out, anymore time spent here for me will be a complete waste of time and effort. I hope we all get our accounts back so we can get back to playing this wonderful game.
Wish I could tell you what it meant but mine actually says something different. It says I was botting, using a macros or unattentive play or whatever BS that I clearly didn’t do. It also says my account was terminated

Submit a ticket, wait and see. I am actually quite relieved that it wasn’t happening only to me, so this is definitely the system’s problem. Let this happened only this once A-Net, we do want our account back freed but also we do need you to avoid this kind of thing from happening again.
Yeah in a sense I’m relieved it’s not only me or otherwise we would run the risk of us being permanently banned for A-Nets screw up. I’ve given up on getting an answer today so I’m not going check back until tomorrow….but something tells me I wont be able to play until Monday. :/

Yeah, the support so far has been horrid for me….and the current ban system is ridiculous.
I finished every map there is. Just cause I have this weird thing for achievements. Bots do not do that either.
Precisely this whole bloody mess could have been avoided by actually checking if the players getting reported or whatever were in fact bots or not.
