Anyone who has ever played a thief knows how to counter a thief. That’s why.

The class doesn’t need a nerf the game needs fixing. It’s slow loading/rendering/culling w/e you wish to call it that’s causing this. That being said you can still kill invisible people.

AoE will eat a glass thief alive. Use knockdowns. Use CC.

Stop running glass cannon specs. Half of the BS thieves I know will just walk off if their backstab doesn’t hit for 5k+. If you’re facing a P/D thief that’s a bit different, but thieves in general just prey on the weak. That’s what we’re good at.

The idea that t1 can’t handle Kaineng is beyond laughable. You guys are blowing this way out of proportion. Unless all 4 “t1 servers” suddenly implode one day before transfers end…unlikely.

The treb is probably the MOST used siege of old Kaineng. For the first two weeks I was here I swore I was being trolled non-stop. They put them in the oddest places…right in front of gates, in camps near spawn points, on tower walls for zerg defense. Not just one but 3… or 6!

They’re the equivalent of Mag’s Holy Flame Ram. You just kind of have to shrug and keep walking. ‘Cause yeah it makes no sense but it’s kinda funny.

I concur with Dia on this. We are training daily, but without the outnumbered status that many of our veterans faced on a daily basis it can be difficult to make people see that such tactics are even necessary.

Overall very thoughtful post and I commend your players, veteran and casual alike, for fighting the good fight. GL to CD (and YB) in the weeks ahead. I have full confidence that you guys will hold steady and push your way back up, once all of the panic transferring settles down.

Please understand that not all of us are seeking to “poach”. We can’t stop others from making the attempt. Also, if someone is actively looking for another server and someone responds to a request of that nature it’s hardly poaching.

Additionally, people from other servers continually make troll posts “recruiting” for Kaineng.

My PC can’t handle zerging so I’m stuck to flipping camps by myself and yakslapping. I usually have no problems 1 vs 1 anyone tbh. In wvw I feel more like a slave. I’m told to portal this, timewarp that, pull this off the wall, reflect that. Us poor mesmers are abused.

Mesmers and focus Ele’s are in fact my favorite tools to have in my squad. :x

That being said a group of 5 Guards can tank every player on the opposing side, at the same time. Lol

Two thieves can wreck 30 PPL, if done properly. They also make the best scouts. Never mind the SB is OP on defense, ESP with Dagger Storm on CD.

A D/D Ele can annoy the ever-living **** out of an attacking force, and roam effectively.

A good Warrior is quite effective but my bleed spec rips bad ones to shreds, so I’m a bit biased against them in general.

Necro’s aren’t underpowered no matter what sPvP junkies think. My 54 Necro can 1v1 anyone and camp NPCs at the same time Q.Q.

Rangers kill siege, other than that they’re just squishy Thief/Warrior food. They have the best single target ranged DPS…gap closers are too common though.

Engineers are great support, and just weird to play and fight. If you like variety this is your jack of all trades class, IMHO.

Mesmers are going to be the most OP class in PvP. Period. It’s kinda their thing, always has been.

Strongest AoE: Elementalist (staff)/ Necromancer
Strongest Single Target: Thief
Best Bunker: Elementalist (x/d)/ Guardian
Best Support: Elementalist (staff)/ Guardian
Best Roamer: Elementalist (x/d)/ Thief
Best Utility Skills: Mesmer
Best Hybrid: Necromancer

The flooding does indeed happen, both in NA and Oceanic times. Half of our guild was in queue for 1-2 hours on reset night. I know for a fact several other guilds had the same issue.

If you’re serious about a legendary you’re already farming tons of gold so just transfer now for free, get the POIs and transfer back with gold in a week. Problem solved.

Is it ideal? No.
Does everyone like it? No
Is it going to change before you get the rest of the parts to your legendary? Likely not.

Do remember that Kaineng IS new to these new tiers. Mag has been staying constantly in the mid and top tiers so they have the experience and better overall tactic knowledge. Kaineng is a mix of many differently skilled players of WvW and surely will experience challenges that the top tiers will bring to them. Nonetheless, we will see who will transfer out or who will stick through it.

My thoughts for next tier would be a fun and tough fight ahead of us with constant shifting back and forth between the tiers. To me, this shifting is much more fun than staying top tier and fighting the same 2 servers for weeks on end.

I’m looking forward to the tug of war too. Yeah some of the people not happy about losing will leave, but ultimately we’ll find our place and end up with good matchups.

As to being stuck on the server, no. People will just buy gems with gold and transfer off, or go back to PvE. The paid transfers might stop mass transfers but when it comes down to individuals or guilds…they’ll still bounce around willy nilly. A couple hours of farming CoF or the TP isn’t hard.

Sorry to YB and CD, unfortunately our giant zerg balls taking camps can’t be held back as it’s just a lot of bored ppl looking for something to do. Next week we’ll hit DB and Mag (or t2, honestly the rankings are a bit off with SBI plummeting) and, hopefully end this nonsense.

At the moment Kaineng is a very skewed mix of WvW veterans from old Kaineng and t4+ and a lot of PvE people still testing the waters. This runs particularly true on reset night where we queue all BLs yet x,y and z commanders just all end up following one commander b/c zerg is ftw and such.

I’m generally a long range scout or kill-squad player when not commanding said zergball of death. I used to just scout or hunt yaks when not commanding…unfortunately no one seems to be capable of forming a small squad anymore.

Not always and even if so generally not on all BLs. Weekend numbers are higher so you’ll have trouble getting in there.

I assure they’re not rotating people in with our current 1-2+ hour queues on every map at reset time (even up to 6 hours after reset we still have extended queues). Do they get them before WvW, well…yeah. I’d be concerned about the buffs that can be refreshed without re-queuing.

Yeah, that ^ nap time I think so I can be here for the expected early push by some such or another Euros. WM/SoS/Meow and such can handle CD’s night crew.

Somehow I knew WM had to be involved. BTW our queues are too long atm for them to keep it up if they intend to WvW more than 1/8-1/4 of their time.

It is trivial to place siege out of range of GiBs, and anything else you can do with them you can do better with players. The ONLY way I’ve ever seen them be effective enough to warrant nerfing them is against enemies who simply aren’t paying attention.

Ok I’ll give you that one, but I did fight outnumbered a lot on DH…fact of the matter is if you can’t take out one guy hitting your ram with GiB you, sir, are playing PvDoor.

Also…I don’t usually do PvDoor, I get out of WvW when they other guys stop coming on unless I’m training newbies. Some of us don’t like it.

I’m trying to follow, but wouldn’t it be the opposite? If I’m getting hit by GiB’s there’s someone defending the keep…hence it’s not PvDoor. Also, if one guy with GiB’s is halting the progress of a group taking a tower…that’s totally broken (this also obviously has the requirement that said group is not terrible).

If it’s not PvDoor why don’t you have AoEs or an AC pointed at that wall prevent him from using said GiB? One defender is hardly what I’d call WvW.

FYI most of Kaineng don’t use GiB, though naturally we have a high number of bored people trolling forums atm b/c there’s nothing to fight.

This thread will have one immediate outcome: more people that didn’t know about GiBs now do and will be using them more often. Lol

Most servers have their highest WvW participation on reset night, lets all have some fun as the maps are capped and all our “transfer OPness” will be sitting in queue.

1. Maguuma seems to be immensely over-hyped.

2. They are playing against “dead” WvW servers.

3. They like to chest-bump about it quite a bit.

4. They are just a band-wagon server now.

Sorry to hear that Hopefully things change for you guys, so it will be back to normal… Don’t really know how it was before the transfers, but it seemed to have been much better… Or at-least balanced.

Magg was a rough and tumble, skirmish loving type server that pushed it’s way up tactically then got flooded with a bunch of transfers that they never wanted. Back in the day they LOVED to crush mindless zergs and by the sound of it now they are stuck with them on their side.

I think they’d be very happy if the new guilds did in fact transfer off their server, lol. As it stands now Magg and Kain are both still getting transfers and probably will until the switch is flipped on the 28th.

I know the issue. Honestly I think, it’s probably an oversight but Q.Q on the WvW forums solves nothing. So, yeah try putting them in the bugs sections and don’t expect people to stop using things that have been permitted from the start. Anet will have to fix it like the myriad other WvW bugs.

Edit: Also a thief can arc cluster bombs over a wall while standing out of LoS too! Commence more Q.Q!

Of course one fight isn’t representative of an entire guild, and I absolutely agree. I suppose the main reason I wanted to post this was because of how the fight progressed.

I suppose the point I was trying to illustrate was what you stated, that being the “natural bias against people who we feel succeed due to ______” when the blank is something that’s not really an even playing field. In the broader perspective of this week’s match, it’s the bandwagon transfers and ridiculous imbalance of player numbers on the field. In terms of this specific battle, it’s the imbalance of how this Guardian set their traits vs. the limitations of my Mesmer, but the difference being that in this particular case, my skill was greater than their manipulation of the game mechanics.

I know Guardians are supposed to heal and be very tough to kill. I get that. But no class was meant to out-heal anyone 5 freaking times from 10% to 100% before they finally died, while doing the same amount of damage as their opponent. At least not to my knowledge. Please correct me if I’m wrong…

Ultimately though, the point of my post was to illustrate that even with the odds against us, Ehmry Bay and its fighters (of which I am only a mediocre representative) are not something with which to be trifled. Maybe that point got lost in my using the “E” and “H” words (which one’s the “H” word?).

I will admit I haven’t watched [WM] videos. I’m going to venture a guess and say the reason they don’t 1v1 is generally because they would lose? I mean, you can slice it any way you want, but ultimately you’re saying the same thing, “we can’t win a fair fight, so somehow we have to tip the scales”. This is what I’ve observed on part of [WM] in this match, and given that observation, I’m not sure I want to watch their videos.

To contrast this, [WM] was an amazing guild in Guild Wars 1, one with whom I had the honor and the pleasure to skirmish with once, who absolutely just blew my guild and I out of the water with not even an ounce of proximity on our part. I’m not saying they’re not skilled. What I am saying is that they should be above the crap I’ve been seeing lately. I’m saying, they’re better than that.

You didn’t use the “H” word I was just expecting it any minute now in the thread somewhere and trying to remind ppl to avoid it.

[WM] is still [WM] from GW1 though naturally some ppl have come and gone. At least to my understanding. The difference being…they now generally run with 15-30 people rather than the meta GvG teams of GW1.

They focus on group benefit not player benefit. There I loosely interpreted the video for you. You can take from this what you will. Though they’re still worth watching, imo.

While you’re only seeing WM when outnumbered, I’ve watched with glee as they charged into the midst of 40-60 man “whole server zergs” with their 15 guildies and totally demolished them. It’s almost spellbinding to watch them move in near perfect concert given all the distractions, lag, culling, stealth, portal bombs and whatnot that are the WvW norm. It’s not the numbers that are so interesting it’s the coordination and sheer discipline they show.

So yeah, you’ll have forgive me if I happen to be of a different opinion than you. At same time I happily admit you’re entitled to yours!

No culling involved, it’s called Veil. Very useful.

You guys were at the north side of the windmill and didn’t even look down the hill and see us streaming up around the east side and around the back. That guardian and I fought for like 10 minutes because he regenerated to full HP from about 10% remaining health about 5 times before I finally killed him. I also killed one un-guilded Kaineng fighter before him, and I fended off an under-leveled Kaineng fighter who came to assist him. I am a beast in the water. FEAR ME, FOR I AM THE LOCH NESS MONSTER!

But seriously, we win the fair fights. GJ though. You guys really know how to abuse the game mechanics. Then again, it’s the whole streetfighter “play to win” mentality. If it’s in the game, it’s not an exploit, right?

If you watched WM’s posted vids and actually paid any attention to their tactics you would understand why they generally don’t 1v1, or in some cases can’t do it at all. I don’t mean culling…I mean watch the vids from the WM members and you’d get it.

What happened there was we went to investigate orange swords and came across a large group at the windmill. We saw them, they saw us. We decided to leave since we figured it was either fight club or a training session of some type.

So, as we were leaving we run across a guild group from EB who decides not to engage and runs from us. We noticed a Kaineng PUG to the right and hit them. That is when several WM and RE tried to hit us from behind. They came from the windmill. After we killed them, we went to the windmill to kill the ones that didn’t chase us.

Now, it’s pretty common on multiple servers to complain when someone interrupts their fight club or training sessions. I felt we were justified in going there to kill them since they came after us first. We were going to leave them alone.

The guys that didn’t chase you were afk or chitchatting…I came back from tabbed out at a GvG to “woah I’m being hit my a necro” …I dodged off my seat to check the situation. That is, to make sure I didn’t kill other spectators by mistake hitting the necro back and I was promptly spiked to death.

So yeah, no, didn’t come after you first, gg.

On a related topic it was worth the repair bill to watch that GvG.

Was on this morning for a few hours and it was like curb stomping. No offence to any AR or BP reading this. Or even NSP.

For a guy that spent the week we fought against him and his guild continually zerging around like a well trained grunt, constantly getting his feet cut out from under him because his flanks were never watched properly; its ironic that he mentions ‘lack of good commanders’ in most of his posts.

To our [RE] folks – Kaineng wants you here. You guys are doing a great job, as are [WM], [CO], etc. I notice that every time someone posts an attack against [RE] and your time on DH, you rise to the bait and post the same things. Kaineng knows and understands what you went through – Kaineng went through a similar phase.

Bottom line, I would recommend that you let these detractors post whatever they want and not give them the satisfaction of a reply. After all, who cares? The people that matter, those of us fighting side by side with you, know all of the great things you guys are doing. For all of us. Keep doing what you’re doing for our server, and I’ll go back to my first sentence of this post and what really matters: The vast majority of Kaineng wants you here. Not sure what my month old post about WE leaving DH has to do with a Kain/DR/EBay match-up thread or Rethesis. But just because I’m anal about getting history right let me clarify a few things.

DHU was the first major alliance on DH, their major wvw guilds moved servers within a month of the game’s release. RE, nor WE was ever a part of this alliance. Guilds in this alliance scattered. Defiance(RUN) last I heard is on TC, while FMC transferred to SoR. Purple Dragons is on FA.

DHA was the second major alliance on DH. Ethersin and RE were briefly in this alliance until there was some sort of argument between Ethersin and Seal the Deal of HVN.

Of the DH guilds that have moved servers in the past six weeks. Rethesis went to Kaineng, Win Everyday went to DB, Get of Fenris went to CD and now Blackgate. HoT went to SBI. Side Effect(not 100% sure on this) went to JQ, then NSP, then Kaineng, where it split up. The bulk of its members under Kiridono formed DE which recently merged into RE. Prosecute reforged Side Effect and went back to Darkhaven.

And that is the simplified story of Darkhaven’s orphans as accurately as I know it. Trakittenalk and troll us if you must, but at least get the details right.:)

A little further clarification. The bulk of SE actually transfered from DH directly to Kaineng where we shifted the tag to DE. Prosecute and his 10ish then proceeded to move to NSP, then back to DH. No idea where this JQ thing came up but we weren’t there, maybe one or two got bored for a week?

DE did recently merge into RE but as most of the server considered us one entity and we generally acted as such that’s not really news.

On a happier note: I am off to form a RP guild named “Darkhaven Orphans” All members must use the “Been there. Done that.” title. LOL sorry had to…

DH was left b/c it was a PvE server. Literally 95% of the population was PvE. Both [DE] and [RE] could attest to this simple fact.

While you can call people bandwagoners all you want yelling at people for wanting to form a like-minded community of players makes no sense at all. You might as well point and scream when a family moves to Colorado because they like to ski.

In WoW hardcore raiders tended to gravitate towards hardcore raiding servers. PvPers sat on PvP servers. GW2 has no WvW only servers, so some of us decided to work on making the next best thing. Yeah, we could’ve gone up to JQ… but we would just be profiting from the work of others, like being carried through 25 man heroic raids. Where’s the fun in that?

So the first few weeks were easy, soon we’ll have our first challenge. I assure that the first 100 of us that transfered did so when Kaineng was the bottom of the bottom tier and didn’t expect an easy ride up. We liked the place.

WM transferring a week or two later was a really nice boon but we don’t expect to be carried either way. Yeah, WM could randomly decide to leave, we’d still be here. When it comes down to it WM is only 100-150 people and we don’t expect them to carry several thousand people. I’m friends with a few ppl in WM and know for a fact that they are dedicated, organized and on point. Even so, it will take the WHOLE server to work together in the coming tiers.

Therein lies the strength of Kaineng, its whole community.

Oh yes so much this! I remember once in the DH days, early morning EST like 6 am…I had to run false attacks on both NSP and DB in EB BL to make them fight each other for our stuff just so we could take back our home BL.

Lol, so far as anyone on Kaineng knows the OP isn’t even on the server? Not one of us has said we’re better than anyone else. We know we outnumber everyone in the last few tiers. Ya know…these things do happen!

You’re just lucky that a) War Machine decided to boost the server up and attracted all those bandwagoners and b) that the free server transfers are going to end before you guys face any real competition.

Hell, if transferring to really low pop servers is cheap enough you may just loose all your fodder to some place like Fergs anyways.

One of the reasons [DE], then [WM] and [RE], then [various and sundry/etcetera guilds] came to Kaineng and stayed was Chaster and SoS, along with KR, KAIN, TGOG, ONI etc… So you’re attacking him then saying he’s lucky b/c of what precisely?

I don’t think anyone currently on Kaineng is going to cry about losing fair-weather friends if we hit a stall in tier rises. They can all go to Ferg and we’ll see them on the other side. We want a war, we will have one, sides are just colors in the end after all.
