izerker got no love again. At least they didn’t nerf it further, I suppose.

Well if you had the current dungeons as easy mode, then for hard mode just buff them up a bit like GW1 did with HM, it’s no more work than the fractals thing.. probably less
That’s just it. People – like the OP – are already finding the current dungeons too challenging, so making them EASY Mode and then adding a HARD Mode will defeat the whole purpose of this segregation. Just scaling them up infinitely like Fractals – as per my previous suggestion – will save Devs a lot of work in the long run, I think. This way, people can keep leveling up as high as they wish, or stop leveling when they reach their optimal difficulty level.
Wouldn’t learning the fights and improving personal skill levels be better than begging for nerfs to fights?
Absolutely. There’s a plethora of both written and video guides available for every dungeon, yet some people just refuse to reevaluate or improve their playstyles.
That being said, IF Anet should ever decide to cater to this vocal minority, I think my suggestion of implementing a Fractals-esque leveling system will be a good compromise for everybody.

All this Hard/Easy mode stuff is really going to confuse people and just extra work for the devs. Why not just implement the same leveling system we already have for Fractals to every other dungeon?
Level 10 can be where the dungeons are currently at, so 0-9 can be super n00b mode. This way, we all have a reason to keep running dungeons ad nauseum, and trying to get as high as possible – if only just for bragging rights. Ideally, loot would be fixed so that higher levels will proportionately yield better loot, just like how Fractals is SUPPOSED to.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Full signets, don’t see FGJ in the Util bar, 90k dmg WITH the lava debuff…Probably a lot more things I missed at first glance.
We should all play the “What’s wrong with this picture?” game.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
2 guard 2 war 1 mesmer for Fractals
1 guard 3 war 1 mesmer for DungeonsBTW Mesmer utility is the only reason they are brought for groups because they are the lowest dps class in dungeons ATM. But between sword boon removal, TW, reflect, focus pull ect they are nice but never bring more than 1.
This is also my ideal setup.
As for mesmer DPS, I main a mesmer, and I can confirm that our DPS has indeed been nerfed lately, I feel like I do maybe 50-70% DPS of what I used to do at the end of last year or early this year. I also have a full zerker warrior, so this is where I get my DPS needs fulfilled.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
All I want is for ANET to open up Fractals 50+. Hell, I don’t care if it requires 50+AR, just let us do 99% on Maw again. Also, substantially improve drop rates for 48+ so it’s worth doing a 2.5 hour run. I don’t want the same number of rares doing a 2.5 hr level 48 run as a 1hr level 22 run.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Rewards must scale with difficulty then. If you choose to run a dungeon on infantile mode then you get less tokens, gold, etc.
I agree with this. I think there should be a Hard Mode, but I think both modes should get the same number of tokens so everyone looking to gear up has the same opportunities and we won’t hear any complaints. However, there should be a zone buff when entering Hard Mode dungeons that give you an extra +30%MF/XP to reward players for the added challenge.
I think all current dungeons as they are should be left as “Normal”, with Hard Mode being around the difficulty of Fractal 48 at the minimum.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Mesmer with 40AR here. I’ve been stuck at 49 for a while now, so I’d also like to start progressing. Don’t care about token, I just wanna do higher level stuff for the challenge.
Anyway, character name is Graendhal. Feel free to add me and PM me for groups.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Guardian or Mesmer. Both are incredibly useful and desired in high level fractals.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I’d like to think that this last Time Warp nerf was really ANET’s early April Fool’s joke. It’ll hotfixed to normal on April 2nd.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I’m a full zerk, shatter mesmer. I use this build because I like seeing big damage numbers, watching my illusions run up to a group of mobs and explode, and seeing chunks of enemy HP go down with each shatter. Also, I pretty much do only high level FOTM (40-48) these days, which is where my build is most useful.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Probably Necro Staff 1 autoattack. Tooltip doesn’t say 1500 range, but if you manually spam the attack, the projectiles still keep going.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I’m so kitten about the TW nerf that I can’t even think straight anymore. I’ll write a better response later.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I don’t know why people are still crying about the whole “4zerk warr/1mes” groups. Some people simply like to min/max and it’s their choice, so let them. When I’m feeling impatient or in a particular mood, I’ll take my zerk mesmer and join only those zerk warr groups. When I have more time or feeling helpful, then I’ll join some newbie or non-optimal group. I’m leveling up a level 35 warrior currently, and you can be sure that I’ll zerk it out, as well as carry PVT gear for other situations when she turns 80.
The point of my post is that you have a choice to start your own dam group if you don’t like other people’s setups. So stop complaining that you get kicked because you play a ranger or that you’d rather roll a more defensive warrior.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I think the main problem here is ANET forcing us to use Laurels as currency to buy the new ascended gear. Before, Dailies were pretty much optional, but now, the only way to get some ascended gear is by grinding Dailies. And yeah, it does tremendously feel like grinding now.
If there were alternate ways to get these ascended gear, such as through fractals, or even some exorbitant sum (5000+) of dungeon tokens would have been better. This new time-gated method of using Laurels is just plain boring and grindy.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I added my voice to the bug report. Hopefully they will fix the nerf.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Confirmed, +1, and all that.
I want my DPS back!

Graendhal
Sexy, blonde, voluptuous human female. Dressed in all Blue Ice and Pastel Rose colors. Named after Graendal from the “Wheel of Time” series.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Whew, I really got worried there. Thanks for the clarification before I went nuts.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I don’t need to fight undead or harvest crops. I just need a dance game to level up and give me gold. How bout a dance game where each move is separate and players must follow a pattern given by an npc or some sort of thing. It would pretty much play like just every other dance/music game out there.
A dance game is a great idea, but I don’t know about getting XP for it though. Perhaps the 1-5 keys will be different dance moves that we can string together, and the F1-F4 will be different dance “styles”? This might be getting too complicated, though.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
As of now, very few items on the BL Store actually appeal to me. I have purchased bank slot expansions and Hair Stylist kits, but there’s nothing really that I’d be interested in spending real money on.
However, I would totally love to buy more dances for my characters. Yes, I realize we already have a dance each, but why not add in more? I really miss the class-specific dances from GW1 such as female Necromancers doing the Michael Jackson “Thriller” dance, or the female Elementalists doing the belly shake.
A few possible options would be to add subsequent dances as /dance1, /dance2, etc, OR maybe /[name of dance]. For example, if the Gungnam style dance was added (just and example!), then it’d be /gangnam. Or if the booty shake was added, then it could be /booty. Personally, I’d prefer the latter option as it makes the dances more unique and special, rather than as generic /dance1, /dance2, etc.
Also, make any dance available for purchase by any race/gender combination and you will open up a whole new world of hilarity in Lion’s Arch. I can’t wait until we can ALL organize and perform synchronized dancing like we did in GW1. Good times, good times…
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I miss the subtlety of the GW1 mesmer.
As a mesmer in the party, people who don’t know the mesmer would often say, “hey why didn’t you do anything?”, or even get kicked from parties cause you aren’t contributing dps (atleast early in the games existence).
This kinda gave you the feeling, “i pity those ignorant fools”
Try playing a necro in GW2 :P
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Oh I miss that too!! I actually loved how every class had their own way of casting spells and different dances and all that jazz. The twirl definitely made the connection with how mesmers were supposed to be “theatrical” or “dramatic” mages.
I actually miss some of the hexes we used to have. Being able to completely shut people down was so much fun when done correctly (and many of the players who have never played gw1 definitely wouldn’t complain about the mesmer’s here in gw2 if they had faced the mesmer’s that stopped you from activating any skill at all)
This. I really miss my Shutdown Mesmer from GW1. I really loved playing the anti-caster caster!
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Yeah, as it is now, there is absolutely no incentive for me to bring my two level 80s to any zone that doesn’t have a dungeon or isn’t Orr. Sure, I checked out Diessa for the live story or whatever it’s called, but left after about five minutes of fixing refugee posts.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Some of the escort DEs are impossible to fail as well. So many times I’ve simply gone the same way as an escort DE already taking place just because we were heading in the same direction – I don’t recall if there were even other players or not – and even after we parted ways, I’d get credit for completion from across the map.
Sure, the free XP seems nice to a leveling character, but this needs to be fixed.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Geez…I’m lucky if I get over 100k on my mesmer.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Scenerio:
I solo’d a champion spider and received no loot at all.
This reason for no loot is no kill credit?
If solo killing the champion/vet doesn’t provide kill credit what will?
You took so long to solo the champion spider that it simply died of old age. Since it died by natural causes, you get no kill credit.

Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Yes, because I have a Sylvari ele that I would love to change to human. A huge part of why I no longer play her is because I prefer human characters.
EDIT: she’s 67 and just an alt (my 3rd character), so I definitely don’t want to reroll and have to play through the low levels again.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I finally got around to finishing Arah Story a few weeks ago (so pre-nerf) and even that was mindnumbingly boring. The entire zone was pretty much a cakewalk and the final fight was just sleep-inducing. I don’t even remember what I had to do during the final fight with Zhaitan because I just recall standing around or something, there was so thrill, no danger, no sense of impending death. I just had to try not to fall off the airship until the final cutscene.
Now, if they nerfed it even more, I can’t even imagine how kitten this fight is. If I were a “casual”, I’d be insulted at how little ANET thinks of me.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Shatters: the illusions don’t run up to mobs when I use the F3 and F4 shatters. They just stand in place shatter wherever they happen to be.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
OK, here some numbers.
I’m sitting at 1788 precision which translates to 46% crit rate.
With an exotic berserker earring I could gain another 15 precision.
With one additional ascended ring (red ring of death, or similar) I could gain another 18 precision.
Wearing the quest reward back (masterwork) I could gain another 3 (exotic) to 7 (ascended) precision. So in theory I could get another 40 precision, which would probably give me 2% more crit chance. But honestly, the back is right now not worth the grind.
If you get full berserker, you should be about 46% – 47% crit chance.
Here are my stats:
I’m in full exotic zerker armor with full Superior Sigil of the Centaur. My weapon is an zerker GS. I am wearing a level 78 exotic zerker amulet, Red Ring, Seal of Khan-Ur; my other accessories are Rare Soldiers Spineguard; Rare Cavalier’s Ring; and Ancient Karka Shell.
Power: 2094
Precision: 1673
Toughness: 1072
Vitality: 955
Attack: 3194
Critical chance: 40%
It appears that not having a zerker back piece, and zerker accessories is resulting in around 5% crit chance.
It’s strange, because my necro friend who’s in mostly green Rampager gear with random accessories has 50% crit chance already. Do necros naturally have higher precision/crit chance or could it have just been the fact that he probably put 30pts in his precision line?
I just expected to have a decent amount of crit chance with nearly all exotic zerker gear.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
How much crit do you have with your gear?
I’m in full exotic zerker armor, exotic zerker GS, one ascended zerker ring, and I’m still at only around 37% crit. What am I missing. My other accessories are either Soldier or Cavalier rare stuff.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
During your regular play time, look at the server list in the character select screen to see which servers are at High or Full capacity. That’ll give you an idea of which server to switch to.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Undead runes are perfect for maxing out condition damage, since you will probably get the TA armor set (condition damage, precision, toughness), which in the end will result you having ~1500 condition damage, which is another ~75 condition damage (as 6x undead rune converts 5% toughness into condition damage), also these runes are fairly cheap since one is around 10 silver on the TP.
Sorry if this is a big off tangent, but is Cond+Precision+Tough gear standard for PvE Condition builds? I went with the Power+Vitality+Cond set from CoF, so did I make the wrong choice?
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I have both a level 80 Necro and a level 66 Ele, as well as a level 55 Mesmer, and I can say that all the play styles are drastically different. Everything from your thought process when approaching an encounter – be it outdoor PVE or in a dungeon – will be unique to each class, as well as the types of weapons you’ll likely be using.
They are all extremely fun and engaging, but different enough for me that I don’t feel like there’s any type of overlap amongst my characters. Everytime I start a character, it feels really fresh and new, even if I had just played either of the other two for a couple of hours prior. If you have the time, willingness and resources, you should by all means start a mesmer.
As far as race goes, I don’t think it really matters. Just play whatever you enjoy looking at – which, for me, are sexy human females.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
For your first Elite skill, definitely choose the Flesh Golem. That thing is a great tank, heals out of battle and deals good damage. It let me solo Veteran mobs several levels higher than me.
This is more of a general tip, but make sure you switch weapons midfight and go in and out of Death Shroud frequently. Don’t simply stand there and autoattack just because your current skills are on cooldown.
Other than that, enjoy the Necro!
