When I look into what it takes to get a Legendary (the last real “hurdle” of the game), it seems like it’s simply not designed for players like me in mind.
That’s because it’s not for players like you (or me, for that matter, since I haven’t even bothered getting map completion).
In fact, didn’t ANET mention upon release something about how they expect only about 1% (or some other small number) to have legendaries? The fact that we currently see so many people with legendaries, and even people with multiple legendaries suggests that it really isn’t even as difficult as ANET intended, and that it is, in fact, quite possible for people to acquire them.

I don’t want it to fractal levels to be account wide, because then ANET will make the dailies account wide also, just like they did with dungeon tokens.
Right now, I have two characters at higher than 48, so I get to do two 48s and two 38s everyday. And yes, I do this on a lot of days, not because I need anything from fractals, but because I like it.
You contradicted yourself. You don’t want them to make it account wide because you’d miss out on dailies, but you only do fractals because you like it, and not because you need anything?
Gotcha.
I like it, but I don’t like it THAT much that I’d keep doing dailies for nothing. Not going to run a 1-1.5 hour 48 only to come out negative. I am still human and I enjoy getting stuff like the chance of ascended weapon boxes, skins and karma from the daily chest. Who doesn’t like presents?
However, I have over 13k tokens, 65-70 ascended rings, around 230 pristine relics , and around 30 unused fractal weapons just sitting them. In that sense, I don’t NEED anything from fractals.

Then there’s this thread on Reddit
Basically, one of the top posts is about people lying about having experience in dungeons in fear of getting kicked, with more people agreeing and upvoting them.

ive seen enough people get kicked for saying they don’t know the dungeon that i completely understand why people dont mention that they haven’t done it before.

They could give us the option to Mystic Forge a handful of Transmutation Stones together with some other items to get a Fine Transmutation Stone. Hopeful penguin is hopeful
This. Let us combine 4 stones to get 1 crystal, or hell, even a stack of 4 stones and 3 other reagents to get one crystal. I have 5 level 80s and a stack of 90-100 stones that I don’t know what to do with.
Also, does anyone even spend long enough at sub-80 for the stones to be worth anything? I mean, do looks even matter at that point? For me, I like to get only Strong gear and plow my way to 80 as quickly as possible, then worry about my looks.

so let me point out this is frac related.
so i get the LFG tool today good stuff no more alt tabing ect 2 clicks and done brilliant untill you find a group of ppl in LFG looking to do lvl 18 frac beacuse 1 of them can open it and the other 3 only have the ar and 0 or no experance past lvl 10, On the giant zone i said dont kill the marked target what happens 3 kill it. failed frac on path 2 as to say.
What i would like to see now is a roll back to where you have to lvl by lvl to get higher, you now have the tool in game to allow ppl from different servers to match up and lvl at all different lvls. The boosting need has now been taken away with your LFG tool so please Please PLEASE stop people boosting off the backs of others, Or at the very least make it so they can only jump 3 lvls infront, in that i mean some 1 who has never been in frac and do 1 —3 3--6 6—9 that way you said pug has spent at least some time in said lvl zone i.e 1—10 11—20 ect. Ragther than what it is, some 1 that has never been in frac can join a lvl 10 20 30 40 group of pugs and have to be carried, i was going to put expect but i dont think thats the case.
My god for the love of your new frac coming out make the changes.
It doesn’t really matter what a person’s fractal PRL is, someone who sucks will continue sucking at higher levels. Someone who’s been carried by his guild into the 20s will still suck and need to be carried. A great player who’s leveling up his 3rd alt in fractals (and has the AR) with a PRL of 10 will be able to join a 28 group and still pull his own weight. So I don’t think limiting what level you can join is the answer.
The simple solution is that if a baddie joins your group and they’re making themselves really obvious, or simply do not possess the AR for the level, just kick them. Problem solved.
For bonus lulz, whisper “we’re selling your spot” before you kick them.

I don’t think we need an in-game LFG tool anymore. The website gw2lfg.com works very well and I doubt they can make the in-game tool better enough for them to warrant taking resources away from other, more-needed projects.
Alt-tabbing out or using the smart phone gw2lfg app works fine for now. I’d much rather see more endgame, hard-mode PVE content.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
so what will become of the exotic gear you can earn in dungeons? Upgrades? Completely new weapons and gear or nothing at all?
Unless the new ascended gear has compellingly beautiful skins, I’d prefer we simply upgrade our current exotic gear. This way, I get to keep my preferred look and I don’t have to buy more transmutation crystals at 17gems/gold.

Pro tip, never do a dungeon with pugs unless you enter the instance first.
Problem solved.
After the new patch I’ve never joined a dungeon(Arah) w/o being the guy that enters.
Sure, it’s not a fix for those who actually do kick people. But it will atleast keep you from getting kicked.

Deep breaths.
What’s your problem? ANet said themselves that people should be allowed to play how they want.
The problem is that some people take this too literally. People set up crappy builds, crappy gear types, form non-optimal setups like five necros and then they wonder why they are finding it impossible to complete content that is considered easy by those that like to optimize their builds and gear.
These very people who “play how they want” then show up frustrated on the forums, asking for already-easy content to be further nerfed.

I just don’t see how it is going to be so much easier than gw2lfg.
Sure, you won’t have to alt-tab over to the internet, but is that really that much of a chore? I guess it would make it slightly easier, but your reasoning doesn’t really “prove” that we are lacking an in game lfg.
Not that I wouldn’t use it, I just don’t see it making my life appreciably easier/better when looking to do dungeons.
It is actually very simple. There are queues for each dungeon and people enlist themselves and get into the dungeon when the queue gets 5 people. Kind of like tPvP when you join without being in a group and it automatically put you in one.
No. Just no.
If I pug, I don’t want to be randomly thrown into a group. I want to read the descriptions that people advertise, such as “LF Warrior” or “need a guard” or “Friendly casual run” so I know which group to pick. And because this will be an ingame feature, I’d like to be able to hover over the poster’s name and see their level, class and AP so I can decide if I want to even bother.

In a way, there is no loot right now. Once you get all exotic armor and weapons, everything else is just cosmetic. We’re all guilty of grinding gold/mats for that next piece of pretty gear with no stat increases.
But yeah, to answer the original question, I’d likely not change my playstyle much. I pretty much just solely run dungeons/fractals right now anyways. I might also start PVPing more.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/

Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Yea. if you want a casual dungeon run don’t do CoF P1. Everyone joins that expecting SPEED SPEED SPEED.
If you want to just have a casual dungeon run I suggest joining a guild if you’re not in one and look there. Or see if there are like minded people on the forums.
OR you could state specifically on your gw2lfg.com post something like “COF p1 LFM. Casual group. NOT a speed run. All classes welcome.”
The group should fill up quickly enough. And if some illiterate person joins and expects a speed run, kick him.

Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I have recently returned to GW2 and found that many of the pre 80 zones to be empty of players. Note that I am on a “high” population server and big cities such as LA and other level 80 zones are filled with players but it just the pre 80 zones are almost empty. I hopped around to number of other “high” population servers and in my experience, zones are empty on all of them.
Empty zones makes levelling up a character a very lonely and difficult affair. Not many people around to do dynamic events, kill champions or even talk to on chat! I think something needs to be done to re populate these pre 80 zones. I would say server merge in other games but does that make sense for GW2? May be zone merge?
“High” population is a relative term. You need to go by what the most popular servers actually are, not what’s merely listed as “High” by ANET.
Even then, you’re not likely to find the 20-70 zones brimming with new players. That’s just the nature of any MMO that’s been out for nearly a year.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
getting kickd from party cause, i didnt know how to exploit pass dredge. after beating already 2 fractal levels. why does this game allow party kicking like this.
Usually people respond like this “if you trusted them to join their party then you should be aware they can kick you if they want”
but its a easy to counter falasy with “if they trusted you to let you join then you should have no right to kick them or next time don´t let them in”
Print screen and send ANet.
Exploiting is still a bannable offense. Maybe that way the elitist kittens would learn to stop being jerks!/cheers
I don’t think “elitist” means what you think it means.
Almost sounds like you’re blanketing any obnoxious pug you come across as “elitist”. I hope you’re aware that most real elitists are so elitist that they would not even deign to pug with the peasants, so the average kitten you come across on gw2lfg.com likely isn’t one.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
You could technically “guest” to your friends’ server and play with them should you end up on a different server. However, guesting different servers is limited to a certain number of times a day, so it’d be much better if you waited until your choice server was open.
And yeah, it can cost up to 1800 gems if you want to transfer servers at a later date.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
There is a very simple way to “fix” Dungeons: mobs/bosses need MORE hit points (at least double of what they have now) and a lot more damage. They should be able to one-shot players with every hit and take lots of minutes to kill, otherwise it’s not challenging enough. /sarcasm
There, Dungeons “fixed” and nobody will play them, ever, again
I know you’re being sarcastic, but if ANET installed such changes for a HARD Mode and quadrupled the rewards for each path, relative to NORMAL Mode, there would be people wanting to run them. Imagine if COF path 1 took 10-15 mins instead of the current 6-8mins (PUG times), but you got rewarded with 4x the amount of money? Hell, even 3x the money would make it worth it.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
A tokens’ collectible wouldn’t really be all that useful, to be honest. Collectibles store just one stack of an an item type, whereas, most of us dungeon runners have a dozen+ stacks of every dungeon’s tokens.
Our buying more bank tabs is how ANET will make some money from this free game, and I think it is a fair method.

The same selection of amulets and rings can be purchased from WvW vendors requiring 10 fewer Laurel.png but with the additional cost of 250 Badges of Honor.png.
From the laurel merchant in WvW.
Only Amulets (and maybe rings). IIRC, Earrings still need to be purchased for 40 Laurels + 50 ectos.

I really enjoy Orr. I actually enjoyed it more when it used to be more difficult – before the nerf earlier this year. I liked how I had to always be careful about not getting too close to any groups of mobs and to always be wary of their CC skills.
Yes, I’ve been killed there many, many times while soloing but the danger was part of the fun and excitement. It’s just a pity that ANET had to cater to those who had no business being in the more challenging zones, and rather than suggesting that said players stick to other zones, ANET simply nerfed the place.
And what did that change or improve? Nothing. Orr is still a deserted place, devoid of players, and instead of being one of the only challenging zones, we have clumps of 1-2 mobs scattered around sparsely. So not only did ANET not make this place more appealing to the people who asked for the nerf, they made it unappealing to those of us who were happy with the difficulty.
I look forward to this place being challenging and interesting again.

And just how do you propose they scale rewards?
Not to mention that scaling difficulty isn’t as easy as you seem to think, as evidenced by how the various Dynamic Events seem to scale.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I like a lot of OP’s reward suggestions, but nerfing the fractals is not the answer. For example, if you play with people who can’t consistently navigate the Cliffside jumping puzzle, block them or don’t invite them next time. Nerfing the game for a few unskilled players is not the right solution.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Also, it doesn’t sound like – just from your post – that you have a lot of data on this. Your recollection of how much each of you hits seems mostly anecdotal and unless you have sufficient data on this, the numbers you see will not really account for the difference.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
As nerfed as the GS has been recently, it’s the best ranged weapon because – well, we have nothing else. That’s the sad truth.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Nothing in the June update notes about the hard cap. Wonder when we’ll hear something about this.
ANET loves their data mining, so probably when a larger proportion of players reach 40+ will they open up 50+.
However, given how bad the time/risk vs rewards are for Fractals 30+, most people will not bother advancing past the mid- to high-20s.
Those of us stuck at 50 will just have to keep waiting…
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Watching/reading some guides was a good start if you’re new to a dungeon. However, you should definitely have mentioned this BEFORE zoning in. If they kick you, so what? You avoided being harassed or feeling like a dead weight. If they decide to still take you, then they’ll more than likely take the time to explain each step.
Also, on gw2lfg.com, you’ll find groups that advertise “newbies welcome”, etc so you don’t have to join speed clears. You can also LFG on that site and specifically mention than you’re new to that dungeon.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Citadel of Flame path 1 is much easier, faster and more rewarding than level 40+ fractals. Jumping into a world boss and being rewarded with rares is risk free. Literally risk free. I haven’t seen any of these events fail. Not once.
Why is this? I don’t understand the design philosophy. Could someone kindly explain this to me? It’s giving me a headache.
To appease the unskilled and unwashed masses. Simple as that.
Considering that very few people are capable of doing 30+ Fractals, they complained that it wasn’t fair that all of us Fractal enthusiasts were getting all the good loot. Remember many patches ago when we’d get about 6-8 rares AND 2-3 exotics for every 30+ run? Yeah, gone are those days. Now, only the easy content gets easier and more rewarding as ANET ninja nerfs all the hard content.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I hope this “ping gear” is a sour joke going around because this is the 1st time ever seeing it and I frequent gw2lfg alot.
The only times I’ve ever seen the “ping gear” requirement is for COF path 1, maaybe for Arah and sometimes for Fractals 20-30 (to show you have enough AR). Usually by Fractals high 30s and 40s, people don’t even require you to ping gear to show AR anymore. Anyone attempting that level should have enough AR and it’ll be pretty obvious if they do not.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/

All it takes for mean peoples to succeed, is for nice peoples to do nothing.
There are a lot more nice friendly peoples.

Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
I heard so many stories about how it’s taken people 5-6 hours to run that I avoided Path 4 for the longest time.
Last week, I finally relented and said to myself, “Why the hell not?”, and decided to PUG it out as I was feeling kind of masochistic that day and it was the only dungeon left for the DM title.
Well, long story short, I pugged it with all first timers – 3 Guardians, 1 Warrior and 1 Mesmer (me). None of us knew what we were doing, so the guy who started the party was actually watching a guide video on his phone as we played a long.
We didn’t wipe once and the whole ordeal took us only 1hr and 20mins. I think it was actually closer to 1hr 15mins. This with just waiting after each fight while the group leader watched the next guide section on his phone, then took the time to explain what we had to do.
So yeah, like someone already said, dat feel when your PUG turns out to me amazingly awesome.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
The great thing about fractals is that if a level is too hard for you, just go down a couple of notches. Too many “distractions” at Level 30? No problem, just go back to 26 or 28. Problem solved! There you can practice more and then try something harder once you’re skilled enough.
Also, take at least one guardian. Two is even better.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Bumping so that maybe Devs will see this.
Death and Taxes [DnT] | http://www.dtguilds.com/
Why would replaying fractals on an alt be a waste of time? The journey is half the fun, as far as I’m concerned.
My main has been at Fractals 50 for a long time now. She only runs 38 and 48 these days. After I leveled up my main-alt a couple of months ago, I’m running her through Fractals again. She’s currently at Fractals 20, and I intend to continue leveling her. She already has all Ascended gear other than the 2 Earrings – which she’ll eventually get, but her current 35 AR should be enough to get her safely to 50.
I don’t mind running through the low level Fractals again. They’re a refreshing change from 38 and 48.
