I feel that champions and world bosses should move more. Ofc this will not help with the issue that so many people coming into fight.

For reference here is video how tera champion moves: http://youtu.be/DFjE2fY-hlI
I am not hoping combat like tera has. Combat in tera is very static (even turn based) and that makes combat really easy when you know what pve enemy is going to do. But just idea how I would have hoped that bosses would move also in Gw2. I mean dragons/champions could use their bodies to crush people, not just stand in one place. I was happy when karkas came in to game, since they were a bit more mobile.

Could we have champions like that? Mobs that when aggroed will give hard time to you.

Full Developer Livestream notes from Dulfy:

  • Glyph of Storms – In each attunement it show you what spell it casts when you are hovering that skill.
  • Staff has a change with Unsteady Ground, similar to Line of Warding from Guardian but it only lasts 3 seconds with 30s cooldown. Enemies cannot cross the line created by the Unsteady Ground skill for 3 seconds. It give staff more utility that the developers felt was lacking.
  • Conjure Earth Shield – Shield Smack (#1 skill) is now a combo of 3 skills and there is a reordering in the way your combos show – they now show from top to bottom (i.e. 1st attack on top, last skill on bottom). Also 2nd skill has being changed to Stone Sheath.
  • Increased staff autoattack healing (Water Blast), increased base radius of Geyser (from 180 to 240) to make staff into a better support weapon.
  • One with Air – Air trait – now grant you super speed on swapping to air attunement for a short duration (100% speed for about 1.25 seconds) . Give ele more mobility and the trait was broken before anyways.

Hall of Monuments help

Defora.3694

I have some undedicated (dublicate) minipets that I could give away (to OP or anyone else wanting them).

I can check what they are after work (~3 hours form now). Contact me in GW2 and I will log to GW1 for trades. I also have some platinum on GW1 account that I could share for those who want HoM points, since I already have all that I want/will get in HoM.

Edit: For the rare minipet go and pick Black Moa Chick. It is easy to get, but you must have access to all campaigns. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Black_Moa_Chick
Edit 2: According wiki: 1 rare pet gives both the rare pet statue and the normal pet statue, so that Black Moa Chick gives for 2 HoM points if you don’t have any other minipets. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide_to_earning_Hall_of_Monuments_rewards

Need help in WvW

in Necromancer

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

Your build is weird You start as condition person, then you add wells (power tool) and finally even minions. Ofc you can play like that if you want to, but since you are seeking help I would say check necro tutorials that Nemesis had put up:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Necromancer-tutorials/first

Generally people think that: scepter & OH dagger are condition weapons(bleeds). Axe/MH dagger are power weapons.

If you like conditions I would say try his fear build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArYWjMat7xbea87JAJFPDd0DiDOZKFqnOA-jkyAYLEk2gGpFgUlgRggoCI5wioxWRLiGr6GTHTEVLEwi1A-w
Video about it: http://youtu.be/eUhUBwdUTBM

Or you can be super tanky zerk frontliner with this Abomination build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQQQNAodWjMaV6haea87JAZGY/80DuHXc4D5C-jwxAoLioRyBIFaIaZvioxWOLiGryGT9SEVLEggxA-e
Video (he talks it as pve build, but I use it in wvw): http://youtu.be/y_bIqwtB-fw

Or you can be DS power necro (I play this only in PvE, but some people say that they roam with this. Roamer may need to swap gear a bit.) This build uses DS a lot, so you may not like this (tho damage done is high): http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQRBHbhG2IjWle6mxGDfCB6x7VLOTUBkh6h7sOfIA-jwxAY/ioRTECNVYIaJvioxWcLiGryGT5SEVLDg+YA-e
Video: http://youtu.be/cG5fqtiP2x0

Edit: watch the videos to get the point of builds. It is not enough just to have right weapons/gear/traits, you need to understand why.

WvW frontline

in Necromancer

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

Depends what you are up against (against direct damage or conditions) and how you good your team is cleaning group conditions.

Toughness = more Armor = you take less direct damage, helps against power builds
Vitality = more Health = you survive longer with conditions, helps against condition builds

Also note:

  • Toughness does nothing to conditions.
  • Vulnerability increases direct damage on a target (1% for each stack, up to a maximum of 25 times)
  • Protection decreases the damage received by a target by 33%.
  • Glancing blows, as caused by either level difference or weakness, only do 50% of regular damage.
  • The more armor you have, the more effective healing is. Note that this doesn’t change how much effective health healing gives you.
  • The more health you have, the less effective healing is. Note that this doesn’t change how much effective health healing gives you.

The best outcome in terms of effective HP is balancing the two, each point of one makes the other stronger, the same way crit and power do, each point of power makes your crits hit harder, each point of crit multiplies power effectiveness. If you’re taking less damage, each point of HP you have is worth more.

The question at the end of the day though is do you get enough mitigation from toughness to outweigh the amount of HP you get from vitality?

[Merged] Ascended Armor Impressions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

I am really concerned if they will continue this trend and only put the good looking armor sets into the cash shop – for doubly obvious reasons.

That would be a perfectly acceptable thing to do. Cosmetic skins in the shop.

There’s a flaw in that stance.

ANet seems to want to revert to horizontal progression rather than vertical once Ascended is all out. We’ve yet to see the proposed skill system, so we have no idea if that will work out. Skins have been part of horizontal progression going back to GW. Failing to provide skins that people can feel they are playing to get (not just farming gold to buy gems) is going to sink that part of horizontal progression.

There needs to be a mix of skins so that some can be obtained through play and some can be bought. It can’t just be unappealing skins and back pieces through play. Well, not if they’re serious about horizontal progression as a major component of endgame.

There are plenty of nice skins, both in-game ane in gem shop. And there will be more.

You can’t complain if the weight is going to be more on the shop. That’s how the game was always supposed to be funded.

Agreed. But horizontal progression, seeking gear skins, was supposed to be how people were kept playing the game in order to be enticed to spend money in that gemshop. A mix, as Indigo mentioned, would be a solid way of driving that interaction between gemshop sales and player retention through horizontal progression.

Agreed. I Really do not like about the idea that all skins that I have so far will be “useless” when this gear with higher stats comes in to game.

Why do ascended items need to have higher stats? Why woun’t it be just additional infusion slot. You could go though process of ascending your existing (exotic) armor (like we did in GW1).

- I don’t want to be locked to one character (tendious / time locked prosess to get items)
- I don’t want to be “left behind” with my exotics (not taken into instances, considered less useful on wvw, etc)

My own ramble:
I am feeling very same that I felt when first ascended items came into game. My reduced playing time and more frequent content updates don’t help either. I mean, I love that I always have something to do when I log-in. But sometimes it just feels too much for the time I have.

I am member of nice guild, I got to do Twilight Assault dungeon with them at the moment I logged in(literally said “hi, have everyone already done the new instance?” and got invite to party that was forming). It took 2h and after that I idled a bit in LA with guild, changed my necromancers hair and that was all I had time to do. I still haven’t even looked ascended weapons and I see more and more people with those.

I was trying to get trough SAB (yay for surprise bauble-gate via “you must get torch”) while Tequalt changes came. So all my time went into SAB jumping and boss week daily event hunting. Maybe with this patch I could do some “normal” gaming… you know… something that I could do just for fun and not “I must do this now, before it is gone”.

Underwater Necromancer

in Necromancer

Defora.3694

Trident is condition weapon. Spear is raw power.

Spear has nice combo: 3 → 4 → 2 that summons life siphoning shrimps around you, pulls mobs around you into that shrimp pool and then melee spin kills those mobs.

I don’t use trident as often. I know it gives CC(4), bleed, poison, weakness, chill and vulnerability. Number 5 also has quite good raw damage on it.

Death shroud also works well. Tranfer conditions with 1, blind and poison with 2, fear with 3, use 4 only if you want to support allies around you (take allies conditions to yourself and then use DS1 to put them back on enemy) or you want bigger heal from Consume Conditions (more heal per condition), and ofc terror on 5.

Possible utilities (that I tend to use):
- Epidemic works underwater. As wonderful on water as on ground.
- Spectral Armor for survivability
- Spectral Walk / Spectral Grasp for getting to mobs / getting mobs to you
- Signets work too: Plague Signet, Signet of Spite, Signet of the Locust (or even ress signet: Signet of Undeath)

The necromancer build problem about symptoms

I use this build on large wvw events (zergs). It is called “The Abomination”:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQQQNAodWjMaV6haea87JAZGY/80DuHXc4D5C-jwxAoLioRyBIFaIaZvioxWOLiGryGT9SEVLEggxA-e

It is easy to play. See this guide (he talks it as pve tanking build, but it works also in WvW): http://youtu.be/y_bIqwtB-fw

Because it is tank, it is good for capping and front-line tagging. Build supports other front-line persons with stability, protection, blind via wells. Plague gives blind or cripple if enemies try to escape.

The only problem with the new styles

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

In GW1 there was NPC that allowed you to see all possible changes and design you character. Ofc you couldn’t keep/apply any changes if you didn’t have token to do so. I spent so much time on that npc. just looking what my character could be and pondering should I do it. XD

Found it: http://guildwars.com/gameplay/basics/characters/makeovers.php

Anatomical Engineer Llye [Stylist] is located in the Great Temple of Balthazar. Before seeing him, here are a few things you should know:
- Visit the Stylist to get a preview of new looks—even without credits.
- Base your new look on character features from ALL campaigns! Create hundreds of customized appearances not available on character creation.
- The Stylist accepts Makeover Credits, which you can purchase in our In-Game Store or at the NCsoft Store.
- A Makeover Credit allows you to change one character’s appearance.
- An Extreme Makeover Credit allows you change on character’s gender and appearance.

We need something like that. It would be also nice to be able to see different armors there (At least I tend to change my character a bit when I get new armor look).

Looking for the Class!

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

I also vote necromancer. I play one as main now.

– decent at farming multiple mobs
-> ultimate mob tagger on events with wells / epidemic / death shroud, etc AoE skills
– good in wvw and pvp in general
-> you can be tank with 50k HP on wvw or you can run fear build in more organised pvp
– a decent amount of burst
-> DS glass cannon build autoattacs from death shroud hit 5-10k+ (yes, warriors do more, but I am happy with my necro dps). Also note that this is dps from range, so I don’t need to run to swap target like melee needs to do.
– a decent amount of livability
-> Necromancer has two HP pools (normal HP pool and death shroud HP pool), with PVT armor normal HP is ~30k. Plague boosts that HP to 50k with 5.5k armor and 4,4k attack.
– useful in pve end game
-> Necro doesn’t give much group support. Sometimes fears & condition removals are wanted on dungeons, but I haven’t had problems to find group (but I am not person who would even want to run optimal cof groups all day for money)

Below are my WvW build stats (power well build). I use another build for PvE (DS build)

Best weapon sigil to maximize DPS?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

From wiki: static bonus sigils stack with themselves when used on dual-wielded weapons, except for Superior Sigil of Force and Superior Sigil of Accuracy.

You should also consider on-kill bonus sigils: Sigil of Bloodlust and Sigil of Perception.
- You gain + 10 power/precision each time you kill a foe. (max 25 stacks and ends on down)

For max dps start with weapon that has Sigil of Bloodlust or Sigil of Perception. When you have got max stack(25) swap to weapon that has Sigil of Force or Sigil of Accuracy.

About Fire vs Force it depends on your profession, build, and weapon set ie. skills. Fire is more useful on AoE situations (if your crit rate is high enough to proc it). Force is static.

Gearing for a new player

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

Why no-one linked Dulfy’s site to Segfault? Here you go: http://dulfy.net/category/gw2/
- Temple vendors: http://dulfy.net/2012/09/08/gw2-templegod-karma-armor-sets/
- End game gearing: http://dulfy.net/2012/10/03/gw2-endgame-gearing-guide/
- Ascended items: http://dulfy.net/2012/11/17/gw2-ascended-gear-and-infusion-recipes/

The way you play sounds right. Have fun and experiment and when you re ready to decide your playing style get gear for it. Pick ascended stuff after you know what you want (since it takes time to collect laurels from dailies/monthlies). Experiment with cheaper gear (rares or karma gear)

Soldier’s (PVT = power, vitality, toughness) gear is good way to start. When you feel that you can easily survive with that you can start to find ways to increase your dps by reducing vitality(HP) and/or toughness(armor rating) on your gear. PVT gear has power as main stat, so it provides max power from gear, only critical hits, conditions or boons can increase your dps beyond that point.

On normal PvE situation I use full berzerker gear(same power as PVT, but additional dps from much more frequent and harder critical hits), but I still carry PVT gear with me and swap to it when I face world bosses/structures that I can not critical hit (precision and crit dmg are useless if you can not crit) or that are immune to conditions (con. dmg stat is useless in that situation).

I just realized that if quest/journey is not solo thing to do it would be instance and if it would be instance it would be same as what we have (aka collect tons and tons of tokens and trade them to gear).

I would want long and hard solo quest/journey.

Maybe we could have similar system that we have/had in original Guild Wars?

  • quest/journey to gain Ascension aka update your current gear piece (maybe different guest per gear slot / select what piece you want to ascend on that quest)

Ofc that quest should be hard to match other ways to gain ascended items (craft, gather tokens, etc).

Ascension is described as a state of communion with the Old Gods. Among other benefits, those who succeed in attaining it are able to travel through the Mists, and with the right help can unlock hidden reserves of power.

how do you guys take high quality pics :S

You can take bitmap pictures instead of default jpeg. This is done with “-bmp” command line.

Here are the instructions how to add bitmap command.

  1. Right click on your GW2.exe and click create shortcut.
  2. Right click on your GW2 shortcut and select ‘Properties’.
  3. In the ‘Target Area’ field you will see the location of your Guild Wars executable file: “<…>\Gw2.exe”
  4. Write the desired command line arguments after the quote marks, each beginning with a space: “<…>\Gw2.exe” -bmp

Mesmer reflect and infinite clones

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

Guildies of mine have been wondering why they occasionally see clone even when they are not mesmers. Google told this:

Certain mesmer projectiles have “Create a clone of yourself” as an on-hit effect. Namely, the third hit of the scepter’s auto-attack (and greatsword #2, but that can’t be reflected…)

If you reflect them and they hit something, then the projectile counts as yours, so it’ll make a clone of you to attack them. It’s similar to how reflecting a thief’s scorpion wire will pull them to you.

The amusing thing about this is, while mesmers are programmed to only allow 3 illusions at once, other classes are not. Theoretically, you could spawn enough clones to crash the server.

So they went into empty pvp map to test. On the pictures below they tested it on purpose, in real fight this would not be possible. Just FYI about limitless closes.

New to Guild Wars.. Other girls that play?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Defora.3694

Defora.3694

Most likely you have met females. Nowadays it is quite normal to see both males & females on gaming. Studies show it is about 60/40 ratio.

If male would have created similar thread it would have been considered weird. I mean: why would someone need “male to male talk”. Similarly I wonder what is this “girl to girl” talk. What is the subject that you cannot talk to any guild member / random gamer that you play with regardless their gender.

I don’t mean to attack against you Kali, I know it may look like it when I come and post things like this into you light-hearted thread. I just try to make people think about this subject. “Gamer girl” is still a label that often makes people think oversexualized or casual player. The amount of weird comments females get in games and the way it is considered “normal” isn’t normal. Gender should not define anything in here, we all are just people playing this game.

But like how quick are the games – and how many players?

It is 5v5. Each match can be expected to last between 7 to 10 minutes.

I also like Dragon Ball. Normally I don’t really care about pvp games but this is fun. Maybe because it is so fast.

Ty ArenaNet, good work. Also: LA is beautiful. <3

Why do I miss so often?

in Players Helping Players

I am still not sure is it me missing (notice how I don’t no any damage either) or are the enemies missing.

I had timelapse on, so when I get back home I will check did I have blind on me or is the black border from plague.
