On the same basis- are you suggesting SBI should slide down one tier at a time to find it’s ‘new’ home?
Just curious.
Why are they kicking you in the first place? I don’t understand. I’m so confused. What’s the point? Is this a common problem? I mainly run Dungeons with my guild group and have had no problems in the few PuG’s I’ve done o.0
Most likely cause is to invite someone else into the group at the last minute…another guildie or friend so they can get loot. Assuming that the last boss gives the best stuff.
if Wv3 is your thing… I’d go with Mesmer… for obvious reasons. Of the 3 it has the most melee potential.
Otherwise I’d take Xavi’s suggestion and level each to 20 or so…
I’m not that hip on Wv3 anymore- still on SBI- but the ‘server bonuses’ do matter.
I’d wait a few more weeks to move… until after the Rating Reset… to see where to dust settles. That’s what I’m going to do.
Who knows… might not have to move at all.
If you alter a bonus to 5 man groups… then folks will just adjust and there’ll be 10- 5 man groups… that’s still be 50 peep zerg.
The only questionable solution perhaps is NPC super mobs… like the worm in EB.
Think Aggro circle… the more folks that are together, that aren’t inside a tower or keep,…the bigger the circle gets until it attracts every NPC ugly on the map. Two or three like the ‘worm’ all hitting a zerg at the same time would be one epic fight… with little time for pvp.
That assumes Devs would be willing to add several to every map… not just EB.
(edited by Dhar.6392)
Sounds like SBI won’t have to wait a month to become dead last.
Start taking screen shots of the folks you group with… and forward them all and the circumstances to the Exploit Department… if they get enough complaints and it’s consistently a small group responsible… might get justice. (You’ll never know about it, but it could happen.)
Let the Devs make policy. Could be a long wait though.
Thanks for the response… I finally found that information; but it hasn’t been updated since October.
I just recovered my (deluxe) account today after being gone since Thanskgiving and found a bunch of Wintersend items in my mailbox. According to the ‘Announcements’ I have less than 24 hours to do something with it…which is unlikely.
Is it worth storing it for next year? Can anyone reference a Dev post or statement if these events will be annual and/or if the same mats will be used next year?
Seems all the World Transfer Search results are dominated by Wv3… not having much luck via ‘google’
I’m thinking about moving with my guild to another server. I created the guild… will the guild storage move as well?
Assuming I have to move the storage items on my account toons… can new storage be created on the new server?
What do you lose…if anything?
to the OP: you just got trolled by smarter players, that is all i see
and in the opinion of others in your party you didn’t deserve the loot/chest/completion
If one doesn’t deserve to complete…they ought to have been booted in the first pull.
Letting them spend two hours getting to the final boss is BS on a huge scale… agree with the others. You should send screen shots of all of your party. Let the Devs start tracking them. Over time, the one’s who are guilty will get caught and hopefully banned. Best you can hope for.
Better to change it so that if the group decides to kick more than one person at the end… it just disbands the whole group… denying everyone loot.
How about you do away with stats altogether and just compete for skills.
Wow Vanilla through Wrath of the Witch King
Lotro – (Lifetime Sub (almost a founder))
AION
Perfect World
RIFT
SwTOR
GW2
…and now PS2
Great beginning for GW2. Wv3 was especially refreshing to me; however it’s appeal has gone down. First time I’ve checked to see what’s going on for GW2 in almost a week.
IF they had not had the one-time event (that I missed) and focused on correcting the Wv3 issues and other bugs in the game vs bringing online new content (that was hardly flawless) that introduced yet more of the gear grind aspect… I probably wouldn’t have given PS2 the time of day; but they did and I did…and I’m hooked on PS2 at the moment.
I’ll check back every so often and see how it looks. I do the same thing for Lotro. For now… my money is being given to SOE.

1. Thanksgiving to New Years is going to be a hard time to judge. A few will play more and others won’t be at all due to vacations/family obligations… it’s a crazy time to judge any game’s performance.
2. F2P is nothing special. There are lots of games that have all done this. Lotro, swtor is going F2P and Planetside 2 (which just launched last week).
3. The recent changes are all too reminiscent of Wow progression. Gear grind up the ying yang plus the one-time event (that I missed) equals less over all interest.
4. Wv3 culling issues that still exist that are, according to Anet, involve altering their game engine that will take an unspecified amount of time to correct. Not promising (esp as the Wv3 was the highlight of the game to me).
I have never played an ‘FPS’ game and those that have say Planetside2 is nothing like the normal… and frankly I’m having as much fun there as I had in GW2 during Beta and Launch. Certainly, more than I’ve had to GW2 recently as described above.
So instead of Gems and GW2 stuff… I spent $50 on PS2 weapons over the weekend. My budget won’t allow to me to spend everywhere. That’s $50 Anet/NCSoft missed out on that I gave to SOE instead. If a lot more are doing this… be it PS2 or some other game… then yes, Anet may have a problem on the horizon.
I wouldn’t put any faith in the stock market fluctuation- it dropped today and it could peak tomorrow…

I don’t see what the big issue is over some gear improvements? Rather than complaining that you don’t want any kind of difference in commitment level, why not petition them to add a wvw-based way to get the better gear? (I personally like the idea that you can move a little ways ahead in wvw, since its partially PvE based as well unlike sPvP).
Since WvW is a dedication/time based system unlike sPvP that is an arcade style pick your “character” and go fight, I think its good that you can upgrade your gear to a level better than newer players and slackers. If you want to be casual then you can accept being slightly out of date sometimes or you can go play sPvP that is built around that ideal.
Also, please stop referring to these as “wow” changes. Just in-case none of you knew, Warcraft didn’t ‘invent’ ANY of these concepts.
The root problem is that when you ‘reward’ folks in this way you start down the path of elitism which will drive the casual players away. I play casually and have still been able to have a good time even though I don’t have to ‘best of the best’… and now I’m not so interested.
Sure- a new game comes out… the ‘hard core’ will stick around, but from a business/profit point of view… it’s suicide. I suppose Anet will figure that out when Planetside 2 launches in about 21 hours. And the game community will too…
Seriously~ between a outrageously long grind to the point I might be able to compete vs a fresh start? How many new players or ‘slackers’ will choose the grind? This is F2P… so fewer players is fewer peeps buying gems, etc…

Actually Splitrr you can’t get exotic weapons that ares Power/Toughness/Vitality with badges or karma. You can only get them in dungeons or for gold. Why they didn’t make token set for every stat combination is a little beyond me. I think they consider wvwvw a chunk of pve and so they think pure wvwvwers don’t exist.
Different Maps sell different gear… Look at each borderland vendor and EB before you arbitrarily state something as fact.
Just a heads up.
The real T1 match starts next week.
quit your QQing and bring it on this week! If you say next week, it will not matter since we have already reached rank 1 by then. we want a challenge to the top! not a bypass!
and also stop your excuses… SoS also experienced that same thing against SoR where halloween ruined us to the point we lost everything… we eventually overtook them within the last few days and won the matchup
Thanksgiving is a bit different than Halloween. Even government still had to work on Halloween.
Now through New Years is a toss up.
Sos- enjoy your ‘free ride’… I always get a kick when one server takes over the entire map. Tell me- how much XP, karma, badges are you getting when nothing flips? When there’s nobody to kill? Swell isn’t it? Empty victory.
Camping EB seems a viable solution. It’s one of the few spots on the map that can be held by a relative few and still get badges out of it.
What sucks is not that folks aren’t playing as much; but the fact that you and I and others… aren’t in the treadmill.
Gear grind of this type… its a major turn off not just for pvp but for the whole game. Hell, I work for a living. I can’t commit to 30-40 hours a week to grind gear. When you know you can’t compete…why bother playing at all?
Not having a legendary… I could live with… or 100% exotics… rough… but now ‘Ascended’ appears to be a second step above where I am now. Being one foot down I could live with and still have fun. But at two steps down… unlikely
Good luck.

/ignore PlayerX doesn’t work. The only other option is turn off chat entirely, cutting yourself completely off from the community.
A harassment option is definitely needed.
An ‘afk’ one would help in Wv3 too. I’m constantly seeing folks in Wv3 using /dance to keep their toon moving but that never do anything else… nothing. Just taking up space.
One time events only tend to segregate the population from those who can and those that can’t. At least make them a week long so people who have jobs have the chance to participate. Not everyone got the weekend off.
All Anet has done is to disenfranchise a portion of the community. Consider- it doesn’t matter how appetizing you make the game when folks are forever branded because they couldn’t participate?
Leaves a bad taste.
Just negate all magic find bonuses from dungeon play.
Anet could do what other games have- provide a ‘mentoring bonus’ for those who have already completed the instance to run it again with others who haven’t.
Pick something every week… XP, karma, magic find boost, etc.
I’ve pretty much given up on the Monthly already; because it’s so difficult to find a group to do the whole thing that won’t expect me to be 100% exotics, etc. Imagine its just going to get worse.
Another no brainer; but if you are going to take the yaks or the supply… don’t take the Sentry first. Skip it.
Sentry is worth ZERO points… sure you get a little xp and karma from it; but it’s also a red flag for anyone looking at the map that you are there.
I used to think it was just level 80’s that weren’t getting credit for escorting supply… but after playing on my alt… it doesn’t matter.
Same is true for defending a Keep or tower. Someone suicides or puts the keep in contention shutting down the waypoint- you stick around to make sure that’s all it is, after 3 min… no reward unless you actually attack or repair something in the time frame.
Is it any wonder folks balk at defending and escorting most of the time? No ‘profit’ in it.
While I know most people PvE, I cant honestly think there are more people doing the fractals junk or other dungeons then WvW. Or even sPvP, the number do not go over WvW but they put much more time into these areas.
I agree they have put little to no effort on WvW so far, and no comments to say that they will. I really enjoy it but I expect nothing from the Devs at this point.
There are other threads that suggest the Wv3 Dev Team has been working to solve the ‘culling’ problem- that’s their main focus; and one reason many who would be playing Wv3… aren’t or quit. And of course, plenty who don’t think it can be fixed.
The lack of ‘tangible’ of obvious improvements could be a clear sign from Anet that they don’t expect a solution anytime soon and that if Wv3 is your thing- you might need to check out another game.
Gw2 is F2P… we can always come back later.
(edited by Dhar.6392)
I think it might be anet’s temporary fix to the portal till they figure out the solution. I think your suggestion would be nice, although I would like to say 5 so you can portal your whole party.
However this gives mesmers more reason to run the glamor cdr% mastery heh. I’m a mesmer too, but I like to roll in small parties so I wouldn’t object to this.
Make it party members only. Tie the ability to those in your immediate group and no others. Problem mitigated.
i think the reason this problem exist is $ (server resources cost money) and i’m afraid from a commercial (cash shop) pov, w3 is just not interesting to anet.
I can’t imagine how it isn’t. Wv3 is the biggest cash sink in the game. I wager more gems (and purchased gems) have been converted into gold to spend on upgrades, Commander tags, repairs, siege, etc… than any other facet of the game.
How can they not ‘love it’?
We’ll know when PlanetSide 2 comes out. We’ll just compare the two game Engines and see what is and isn’t possible.
Anet better hope the competition is just as bad on culling or their procrastinations really will be taken for lies.
I’d like to see some ‘murder holes’ in the walls around the keep but especially near the doors. [Murder holes- vertical breaks in the wall that are too small to walk through but plenty big enough to fire through. Being vertical in nature they could be designed to be useful for Asura without altering the inherent property of the ediface]
Ranged defenders need to be able to fire with at least some protection.
Back in beta… at least I could fire behind the low wall, but our poor Asura players were too short. Now we stand on the wall… 100% in view of the attackers? That isn’t defense- it’s suicide 9/10 times. Lucky to get 1 cast or shot.
(edited by Dhar.6392)
I would think 13 – 16k is not a whole lot of difference in tier one. Still up for grabs. I almost want to transfer over just to watch it unfold in the last few days. I won’t, but it’s tempting…..yes I am a strat thief :p
JQ was up by at least this much last weekend. Given the major event taking place… it’s not surprising. If the lead stretches to 40-50K…then it might be too much to recover from; but 10-25K is still a wide open match this early.
Planetside is coming out… another Wv3 type game. Don’t rage quit just move on to something else. Sounds like most of you have milked Wv3 for all its worth right now.
IF Wv3 numbers are significant enough (decline enough); the Devs will have to make changes to pull folks back… if they don’t then stay gone. I like the game too, but if the Devs ignore me- then I’m better off somewhere else.
Give people the option to click on a commander icon and ignore it. that way only the ones you like will ever show up.
BEST option yet. Doesn’t keep Anet from using their current system; but allows the players the choice of whom to follow. Let’s us decide who’s worthy or not.
It’s the same in every game. The top 10% want something special so the Devs create this ‘hurdle’ everyone has to pass to compete.
Worst decision ever. Hear comes the gear grind in earnest. Get ready to be judged even more harshly on what your equipment is.
You’d think after all the previous failures from other MMO’s that Anet would have learned that this kind of thing never works, lasts, or is worth the hassle. I give it 6 mos before it’s altered, replaced, or expunged.
F2P helps though- won’t cost me anything to return and see if the ‘new’ solution is worth my time.
The end of casual players and the beginning of true egotism/elitism.

Why doesn’t ArenaNet just make it so that if you transfer servers, you can’t do WvW on that server until the match resets? Wouldn’t that work, or am I missing something?
Believe it or not- Wv3 is just collateral damage.
Gold Sellers (who have almost no interest in Wv3) use the free transfers to move their bots around to avoid too much attention.
And then there’s the ‘Guesting’ practice that Anet promised folks from beta where guilds could be on many servers at once. That’s how it was intended and then you could ‘visit’ another realm and play with your friends or guild mates. However that has never taken off. Anet’s failure to produce is also what is keeping the free transfers alive.

Join JQ- they are known for camping the darn thing with Siege. At least you won’t get ganked in the puzzle like the rest of us… nor will you be the only one taking away from the team in the process.
JQ plays decent Wv3 too… not very consistent… but pretty good.
I wonder- will Mesmer still be viable if their Portal ability was removed.
If so- Anet should just do it. They’ve waited too long to it otherwise.
- What is the point in daytime hours when no matter how hard or well you play you will be lucky to gain a +150 point lead, when at night those with a night population will go +600? 50 people at night generate far more points than 50 during the day.
Well- I could give you the advice some peeps at SBI tell me, “We couldn’t expect to defend it forever!” ‘Night-capping’ is frustrating, but there are worse things like losing fully upgraded keeps during the day without a single bit of resistance because nobody cares to ‘monitor’ Keeps and towers that isn’t being constantly attacked. Everyone leaves- nobody stays to watch it; and by the time you notice swords… the attackers are through the outer… and 50% through the inner… and by the time you are there… it’s gone. Happens all the time on SBI.
Less than 5% of the player base will sacrifice a little time to watch and defend- the rest are out for personal glory. SBI has problem with folks doing upgrades too. I won’t do anyone… not with kind of record of defense.
May you find that comfort in it….
(edited by Dhar.6392)
It might have been a joke… but I could easily see such an item in the store. If folks will buy it… then why wouldn’t Anet use it to generate wealth. It’s F2P afterall.
Picked a good week to enter the fight. Lost Shores.
Just don’t get too confident. JQ was rolling BG and SBI last weekend too with a sizable lead by Monday… and it didn’t matter in the end.
Good thing you didn’t mention ‘Ascended’ or this thread would have been folded in with the rest. Forums are being filtered and Moderated by keyword now.
I think this is the first step into P2W as you put it. Legendaries are tough enough… but doable… I think Anet realized that folks were willing to play long enough to get to it without buying huge sums of gems…
This latest attempt is a fresh start on that objective. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if Nexxon (who bought a substantial chunk of NCsoft (Anet) stock didn’t contribute heavily to its development.

Reporting is out of control; especially on the forums. It’s a free for all among players. I have been infracted twice in the last hour for unproductive posts… yet I was replying to same. When I go back to look at the post- the same inflamatory rhetoric is still there where-as my post has been deleted.
Solution- Do to them what they have obviously done to you. There’s nothing to be gained by being righteous and silent. Best to get in a few punches and take notes… for your appeal.
Don’t bring back the Orbs… instead increase the value of targets: camps, towers, and keeps…
With the loss of the Orbs, defense is even less important than it was before… which was barely minimal to begin with. Besides WP and the point value in a keep- there’s really no long term value in holding anything.
Seriously- folks wait until right before the ‘tick’ to take objectives… and abandon them right after.
Anet needs to increase the reward in some way… Karma bonus for keeps, XP for supply camps, influence for towers… as an example… the longer you hold it.. the more you earn of it by defending.
When Defense becomes more important than the moment- the next ‘tick’… then strategy will return to the game and pitched battles will become more common… more noteworthy than they are now.
If you want tactics and strategy then you’ll need to join a WvWvW guild. The reason you don’t see strategy and communication is because its too cumbersome to do via map chat, it is generally done on TS/Vent/Mumble.
It doesn’t really matter if you are casual, I’m sure there are guilds that will take you in wherever you are.
Even that is minimal outside your guild. Sure it happens, but no guild plays 24/7/365.

One sec let me get out my copy and paste response to this kind of thread.
Dear sir/madam
We are sorry to inform you that the jumping puzzles in WvW are active pvp zones that with completion reward pvp items. This is intended by design and will not be changing anytime soon. Might I recommend you bring some friends with you to aid in the jumping puzzle?
Lose all build up Siege… period. Built-in stuff is formidable enough, used wisely. Camping with friends is fair… it is PVP, but the rest needs to go.
Anything more is overkill. Anet- by allowing siege to be built in addition to what is already there; you’ve turned a unique challenging facet of the game into a hopeless death trap that given a choice… I’d do it butt naked (avoiding all repair bills), try transferring to another realm hoping that didn’t Siege camp it or I’d find a new game that knows what the word ‘overkill’ means (there by depriving you of any future gem purchases.)
I’d like Anet’s opinion…considering the possible outcomes. Which is good for business?
(edited by Dhar.6392)
I’d say you need to transfer to a top tier Wv3 realm. I know on SBI the queue is a significant deterrent to closing the client and leaving Wv3 entirely.
Perhaps a deserter buff for 30min would work; but then maybe not. IDK.. seems it’s my job to deny you badges however I can, especially when it’s 4-10 vs 1.
Honestly I have never used this method. If I get killed, it’s just another facet of the game… and typically I play so badly- I deserve whatever comes. (And I know my ‘rank’ is so poor opps are kitten lucky to get any badges all from killing me)
In short I’d say debuff them and deny them the ability to rejoin Wv3 for 30min or more.
NOTE: I have noticed that if I queue for another Wv3 borderland that I can transfer…even if I’m in combat or dying. I can transfer dead and the ‘tutor’ npc will rez me. I’m not saying that folks are quitting the game entire, but there are other ways to avoid being staked.
Fine- I’m missing the point, but then I’m more PvE than PVP for Mesmer… in fact it was my first toon… and my least played. So the nerf when it comes… no big deal.
It won’t matter much to my 80 Engineer, my 80 Warrior, or my Elementalist (soon to hit 80)… You Mesmers will do whatever- who knows… maybe the change will convince me to give it another try.
I was trying to find a solution that didn’t involve nerfing any particular class/ability…which inevitably leads Devs to nerf others; to compensate but all I pick up from you is that it’s impractical.
I’m quite certain the Orb issue was just as impractical. Hell if folks had camped the Orbs 24/7/365 they never would have been stolen eh? That didn’t keep Anet from removing it from the game.
Good luck with your Argument. I’m confident portals like Orbs will be history soon enough.
(edited by Dhar.6392)
Guilds with the prerequisite infrastructure “Art of War I-V” can claim a single keep/tower/camp at a time. There is also a brief cooldown period… about 5 minutes I think between claims. I know this because I claimed a supply camp… and it was flipped by another realm…and then flipped back. I had to wait a short while before I could reclaim the camp.
Be aware that guild buffs… Supply, toughness, precision, etc… are single use only. You get 12 hours of use, but you can’t ‘deactivate’ the buff once started. Each instance is 200 influence.
Me- I have a tiny guild… and Supply is the only buff I can offer. Cost is 200 influence which grants me a 12 hour window to use once activated. After that I have to spend 200 more influence and 16 hours of real time to ‘relearn’ the buff before I can use it again.
The most you can regularly learn is 2 buffs at once; so IF/when you hit a keep that offers 8-10 buffs- keep in mind that the guild spent the whole week… 6-7 days spending influence to acquire them all and can only use them for 12 hours before someone else had to take over.
And then-that generous guild will be another week relearning all those buffs before they can be offered again. Influence depends on how often folks log in and what activities are accomplished in a 24 hour period.
(edited by Dhar.6392)
If it’s skill- then survive the 2-3 minute revealing process.
Sure, just make it so the 2-3 minute revealing process prevents the side who just took the keep from being able to see in that area. It’s about as sensible an idea as stopping classes from using several of their skills for no reason.
Mesmer sweep. If you don’t know where to look, get your mesmers to. Get them to show you. If you find someplace they didn’t know, show them.
The only issue I can see with portals is the culling issue. Have your groups place down their stun fields, fear, etc. If you can’t see them, they most likely can’t see you. More so when you’ve suddenly scattered them. Don’t leave it to one person.
? perhaps you or I worded it badly… I’m suggesting that all players not of the world/realm than won the keep be ‘revealed’… their ICON showing up on the map for 2-3 minutes within the keep boundaries. Negates all stealth… no exceptions once the keep has been won.
Seriously- if folks are in the Lord’s Room… you should know if you have a prayer of holding it or not… and if you don’t… you are running for the exit. If you are not- you are trying to stick around for some nefarious reason. Fine… survive full exposure first.
If you can survive 2-3 minutes with your constant location shown on the map… then you deserve the right to stick around hiding… dropping a portal bomb. Otherwise- it’ll clear out all of those that don’t belong and allow the honest defense and attack pattern to begin.
Be serious- the only reason to complain at this point is you don’t want to give up your ‘exploit’ of the situation… which will only result in your eventual nerf. Folks complain about portals the same as they complain about Orbs… where are Orbs today? they are gone. Portals can disappear just as fast. Same can happen with Stealth to a simliar degree. Then where will you be?
Instead of punching holes in my argument- I suggest, be you Mesmer or Theif, that you find some way to make it work… that doesn’t invove radically altering your apparent abilities. It’s your choice to lose it.
