I could see Npc guards/civilians being interesting if they were a scribable decoration(stationary and patrollable?)
Patrols might be a bit tricky but it’d be interesting to make it more like a village.
They did give a reason for making cities obsolete if they were to give crafting stations and the tp to guild halls so I don’t expect that to happen any time soon.
The Exotic Dancer pole was pretty funny though :P
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Simultaneous 3 way sounds disturbingly unbalance-able.
Sorry this quote was funny because that is the essence of WvW :P

Every server comments about their fairweathers, I just feel like nobody could’ve guessed the fairweather population of four servers combined, we’ll see I guess!
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
The easiest pve mission is a 5 target trek, besides that compare capturing 3 camps to a single target bounty. The camps are all easy to find where the bounty you have to find your target taking up valuable time. The fight against any bounty target is WAY harder than killing veteran supervisors or even equivalent champ keep lords.
Still, show me the person that can complete a 30 target trek in 20 minutes, or complete a 5 target bounty mission in time. I believe the limit in spvp and wvw is because of the fact that many of the missions are easily doable solo, so that if you are the only person in your guild in a server zerg that you shouldn’t get credit for capture and hold on a keep.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
We balance better than you can.
Past and current server transfers do not seem to support this statement :P
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
I’d love to know how many people will end up transferring from servers like Kaineng, Anvil Rock, and Eredon Terrace to their partnered servers Yak’s Bend, Blackgate, and Tarnished Coast.
I shouldn’t really be surprised if it’s an astronomical figure.

I’m sorry I read this and had to laugh, I didn’t realize there was an everlasting gate tonic out there.

+1 on posting here. It can be rather disheartening to see more official posts on Reddit versus the games own forums. Thanks!
This multiplied by infinity. I know these forums are extremely toxic but it’s such a breath of fresh air to read these posts, Tyler has given me a real reason to fully read these forums again.

But it fills your bags with stuff that becomes money, and money can become siege as well :P

It seems that Anet has decided that blob wars is WvW. That is their choice.
I thought we overwhelmingly decided that with the majority approval of more populated worlds via the link.
Either way, the idea that blobs win wars is false. They may win a few fights but coverage wins wars. A 70 man blob will keep chasing 30+20+20 all around a border, never holding anything for long. If the other enemy decide to field 30+20+20 too, GG having your 70 man blob try to control 6 decently large forces.
The “problem” is that we the players have decided 3 things:
1) More than one commander is taboo, unless its a guild.
2) Guilds fight their own battles, even if they are 20 vs 50.
3) Pugs fight pugs, even if they are 20 vs 50, except in the cases where guilds grudgingly accept to step off their high piediestal for a moment and assist the peasants. This behaviour lead to pretty much everyone seeking security in numbers.
So yeah. Actually, we decided that WvW is blob wars.
This is also very true as well. It makes me recall the earliest days of WvW with NO commander tags and people using only map/team chat to communicate. Was it chaotic? Yes it was! Allies and enemies were nearly everywhere but never in huge massive numbers and fights broke out nearly everywhere. Commanders tags once people got used to what they were helped teach people to group up in massive numbers. Enter map, look for tag…where the old days was enter map, talk in chat to find out what’s going on, move accordingly.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
The reason for the blobs is lack of leaders. Lots of leaders means lots of varying groups and teamwork. New players need to be taught and that takes time and leaders to do it. Though with the mergers the leaders have been cut in half or the mentality changed.
It is “get on my tag or you’re making us lose.”. Also the counter to blobs is to split and backcap so all they capture is lost while they are hard point stalled by siege defenders elsewhere. So they are forced to split or lose more than they gain.
This doesn’t work anymore because the general player culture now is “ppt is pointless” we want fights so that means winning and numbers makes winning easier and “siege is lame” and siege is also super too strong nearly demanding a blob to overcome on most fortified things.
We’ve all changed and those with a refined taste want more while others just want to log in and play. It’s just harder to make us all happy without options and space to do it.
Oh man this hits home on many levels.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
How are the queues looking for everybody nowadays? Seems most of the hype of both Alpine maps and wvw rewards have cooled down a bit, as I type this for FA/BP there’s no queue on a single wvw map.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Yeah I totally miss the old ones, they looked so awesome and Pounce’s leap it performed was AMAZING if you used it for the double leap. Now you can move around freely like everybody else, but have a lame animation and loss of bonus mobility(if you learned how to use it) like everybody else.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
This post is funny. Compared to the multiple forum topics with several pages of complaints in the DBL launch this outcry for bringing DBL back feels trolly. GG.
Very true but this forum is filled with rage from WvW’ers all over, we just don’t seem to be happy complacent types.
That being said though if they keep pushing in this strategically backwards map direction we’ll have a plain gray flat field with 3 veteran lords where the keeps used to be that are behind a fence that you can jump over.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Except that, well, we can blaim the map itself.
There is truth in that!
They were designed to hamper zergs while giving more of an edge to smaller more mobile groups(since zergs always get a tail), it’s just the fact that 90% of the player population were in those zergs that got lost. Like most Wvw types, those players came here to vent their frustration.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Okay but 7 months later the population is still down lol. And if you’re on Borlis Pass, you probably didn’t notice much of anything since it was pretty dead pre-HoT anyway. All of the Tier 1-4 servers felt it majorly.
Well isn’t that what the bottom line of this forum has been anyways? Compared to 7 months ago there’s less people…..compared to 1 year ago there’s less people, compared to 2 years ago…compared to release. This is nothing new to anybody on these forums but the desert maps were the first meaningful adjustment to WvW since EoTM(liked that map layout but NOT what it did to main WvW), but the general populace just didn’t like them. I feel like the desert borderlands are equivalent to chess where alpine is checkers, both games are fun but you have different levels of mastery(which is one reason why people were so bored with alpine, they knew it all for YEARS).
And yeah you know I’m on BP, and we actually had fights of all kinds, even against map queues thanks to Gaiscioch. I can say I preferred the ebb and flow of combat in those maps, but I’m just one person.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
The numbers speak for themselves, since DBL came out, the WvW population dropped more than 50% of their players.
The DBL at that time were directly competing with ALL the new pve content, plus pvp leagues and eventually even the raids. Also Anybody wanting to upgrade their guild hall was doing the new pve stuff, so you can’t blame that map by itself because of the “numbers” just like holiday festivals come out and wvw activity lowers while people get the wintersday stuff or whatever, happens every time.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
1.How do you feel overall about reward tracks?
Good, I like them!
2. What are your thoughts on the rate at which you gain participation?
Perfectly fine, get credit for anything that gives wxp(except warg and those pve events) and credit for escorting yaks. Not that it would be huge but possibly lower participation for relatively large zergs.
3. How do you feel about the rate you earn reward track points?
Fine by me, people say spvp is faster but you don’t get loot every single time you kill a player in spvp like you do wvw so that balances it out more.
4. Overall, what are your impressions about the types of reward tracks we have?
WvW players have access to all the pve tracks now, even the magus falls stuff so that’s great. I can now spend more time in WvW but still slowly build up more of the new tokens for new recipes. The triumphant armor isn’t too bad but I like how it gives a little bit of siege halfway through!
Are there any other reward tracks you would really like to see?
I do feel there could be a “Lord Flame Ram” track that instead of 2 loot boxes per reward, could give 2 random sieges or 1 loot box and 1 random siege. Another option could be a specific WvW weapon track. Could also make fun tracks like spvp has already done with minis of WvW npcs like Siegerazer or the desert borderland lords.
Last but not least instead of having a Siege track, if a merchant would sell us siege for tomes of knowledge we’d probably not need one.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Loot is a larger factor in WvW participation than many people realize. Day 1 of Gw2, WvW had the highest loot potential over PvE and PvP. Why wander around in a pve map looking for events when you could go to WvW and see every single event on the map at one time and hit them all in succession(a la the Karma Train)? In those days the big stuff was exp, coins, and karma and you got the same amount of that in WvW as you did in PvE. Over time PvE rewards got better with world bosses dropping guaranteed rares and then later on a world boss schedule, when champs dropped bags it helped WvW too but you couldn’t tell much difference. Then of course Eotm came out as a 5th map that had better rewards by far than any of the regular 4 maps. Anyways my point is obvious, but now try to imagine HoT releasing like Day 1 of Gw2….as if you had ways to get Maguuma zone rewards from WvW, do you think the borderland maps would have been so empty? People could’ve gotten the new stuff AND played the new maps, instead they had to make a choice and nobody wants to be left behind on new stuff now do they?
Long ago I’d had a similar idea of your PPT giving rewards though more of a wxp reward based off of ppt. Had to complete an event during the 15 minute timer to get credit, so basically you had to do SOMETHING to get part of that wxp bonus. I also wish Wxp worked more like the reward tracks for pvp. I had a plan for scouts and keep/tower/camp defenders too so they’d get credit but we don’t need this post any longer than it already is!
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
They also said maps would eventually be on a rotation but there’s no date on that yet.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Oasis is still necessary, it’s the biggest weak point to a server that plans to just turtle up all day long once everything is fully upgraded. It’s basically the entire point of the event. You force them to choose to stay where they are at held up in their keeps or come out and try to defend them from the skysplitter.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Shortbow’s been my primary range option since release usually with a greatsword at first but then later sword/dagger or sword/warhorn . Shortbow’s only real change since release was its range going from 1200 to 900 in an attempt to make the longbow a more appealing weapon. Multiple changes happened to the longbow via skills and traits and eventually it became the bow of choice, while Shortbow remained the same this entire time.
That being said Shortbow is still GREAT. There are only 2 skills I would even question and that’s Crippling Shot and Concussion Shot.
Crippling Shot really does need another 1 or 2 seconds of cripple, 3 just seems so miniscule.
Concussion Shot on the other hand would benefit from an effect on INTERRUPTING a skill. People here keep saying confusion although I feel like 3-4 seconds of Slow would fit it a little better, very much like the gw1 version of the skill. That or if you interrupt a skill the recharge is halved so that you might be able to interrupt more often.
Overall Concussion Shot is a skill designed to be used skillfully to interrupt important enemy skills, compared to its longbow equivalent Point Blank Shot which can do the same thing through a knockback Concussion Shot just seems weaker in comparison, dealing less damage and having a 10 second longer cooldown.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Personally I feel that too much of the playerbase wants a free ride. While the map works with it being full, it also works with smaller groups as well but you will rarely ever see that happen. I usually try to abuse downscaling to fight the Legendaries before they get close enough to the zerg to get scaled up. Best success with that was killing Stavemaster Adryn with 4 people in just over a minute.
Until a map has 15 players that will actually try and start it off, nothing will happen, even if a map has 50 players standing there looking at LFG, they won’t actually accomplish anything until a few people start herding them.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
No, do not want them right now. No offense but the WvW crowd apparently hates change and 3 years of Alpine was enough, I love the change and have had great fights in the new borderlands but the only problem with them is the fact that more people would rather avoid them than try and learn them, moving around the new maps is not bad once you’ve learned your way around a little.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
- Objectives upgrades will no longer be automatic based on time.
- Supply cost for all catapults are being reduced by ten supply.
- Points per kill
- The number of players who can rally off a single kill has been reduced from five to one.
First off, thank you Gaile for the info and asking for people’s opinion on these changes. I know whoever has to address the WvW community on any change probably lost a bet somewhere…but anyhow let me continue!
1. Upgrades by Yak-I actually really ended up liking automatic upgrades so I’ll be sorry to see them go, although I threw out an idea months ago where if you owned a camp but not one of the objectives it delivers to, it sends out a yak there anyway that if it reached the gate, would ADD time to an upgrade, or if fortified would deal damage to the gate it delivers to.
2. Cata supply cost-My guild has little problems using catapults in the new maps so this is just gonna make us even faster, plus we currently will have +5 supply in about 5 days so it will be super easy then. My only concern is that fortified walls right now seem easier to destroy than fortified gates and this will just make them even easier.
3. Points per kill-Love it
4. One rally per kill and no hard res-Also love this as well, it’s gonna change a lot but people might really start running full tank group setups, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Since when, since they still are the number 1 mmo on the market with still over 5 million subscribers still paying they 15$ monthly to lay this broken kitten but still exiting game.
You mean paying 15 dollars a month to raid once a week(which you now get here for free). Like 99.5% of their suspected 5 million actually play for open world PvP, the rest just quest, dungeons, and raid. Poor example for you to give on implementing an open world pvp experience in GW2, sorry!

Ah PageRank, and not Public Relations, well that’s what I expected the original poster to be talking about. NOW that part makes more sense, however I don’t know why anybody would even imagine they have a requirement to have an official reply here, if they replied to one angry thread they’d have to reply to all of em, and the manpower/hours required for that could bankrupt any company :P
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
PR control? They know the vast majority of posters in this forum are angry and complain, why would deleting one of the many controversial threads in this forum change the public opinion? :P

LOL. This hackneyed argument. And it’s not even remotely true either.
As for T4, it’s dead. No already queue in EB at 10:00pm pacific time (and of course no queue in the BLs — and that’s reset night, weekend, with a new server in the matchup.
You’re likely to not have the stable WvW playerbase back until all the newness of every other style in the game wears off, plus Wintersday.

If your guild had obtained the necessary research level and prerequisites to have consumables like banners or Vault Transport unlocked under the current system, you will have them unlocked to craft in the new system.
So he didn’t say anything wrong, he said they’re unlocked to craft, which is how you make them now.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
you get a 20 min xp booster usable in all forms of the game, so as long as you’re active you can get a heck of a lot more wxp using that than you did with the liquid wxp.
I tend to save my chests and use them for the xp booster to help my spvp reward track.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Defend your stuff, take theirs, get as many kills as possible while doing it. Everybody has their right to like or dislike the new maps or even quit the game if they want. My guild tends to make that enemy Eternal zerg choose of if they let their borderland fall to an enemy uncontested or if they actually suck it up and go out there to prevent such actions. So far we’ve drawn many good fights and some where we get totally destroyed by an overpowering enemy force. Either way it’s fun for us to pull some of the naysayers into the maps they seem to dislike so much, some of them might even like it when they have actual fights there. Anyways, carry on the hatred.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
I know it can happen(very small chance though) while you’re in combat as well.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
I’m just glad it’s not my guild alone this is happening to, I thought the fault might have lied with us getting the speed aura. I can’t wait until this is fixed!
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
The new maps are quality stuff, it’s a shame so many people avoid them or try to boycott the maps but that’s their choice for now.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
I think everyones freaking out about how people are playing the new content (big surprise) thus making the maps empty, and that the new maps arent as suited for zerging as the old ones are. Dont forget that GvG arenas are probably taking away people that would otherwise be zerging.
I remember many servers complaining about how their WvW pop lowered for a week because of wintersday/halloween/living story releases. Now take that and multiply it by 100 or so, Every game mode received new stuff, Pve by far the MOST shinies, PvP next with stronghold and new reward tracks, and WvW got a new map and auto-upgrade mechanics. Which do you think will be the most distracting and can you blame people for being distracted by those?
The game has not seen this much new content since original release….and WvW was huge then, HUGE. It was also brand-spanking new, where nowadays its still the very much the same concept as it was 3 years ago, the new pve content? A bit different.
Wait for people to get tired of their new pve shinies and then see if you need to protest.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Love the new maps and this is in T6. Once many guilds become close to completing their upgrades and the new shiny pve stuff begins to dull many people will return to WvW, just like before the expansion came out. The people that can’t seem to be patient for that have to vent their frustration on the forums but this is beyond old and overdone.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Indefinite spawn-camping. No way to contest the constant stream of reinforcements.
This….I’m still disappointed they changed the waypoints from the towers to the keeps, the towers made more sense for the overall map design of 3 servers but the home server has the greatest terrain advantage even just through their earth keep waypoint.
The map itself is designed larger so that any server that just travels in one large zerg will eventually lose territory to a server split into multiple groups. The original waypoint placement reinforces this idea but the new ones dampen it slightly.
Oh and the map design to lower effectiveness of zergs can’t truly be tested with current participation in WvW, sad but I hope they don’t change it too much BEFORE people are really back out there in force just because people are complaining everywhere.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
I liked the wp’s in the towers idea, but now anybody attacking an enemy borderland(which is what my guild does 95% of the time) will have a much stronger position if they claim their corner’s keep. It also seems to make the southern towers less important except as a buffer zone between your keep and the other “attacking” server…kinda lame though.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
So we go deeper into the zone or switch zones in order to get another sentry/camp within range of our timer. We have to ask people in /map to “please don’t take that one so we can finish our guild mission, we’re on our way there”.
Fik, when did we ever do THAT?
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
For a bunch of people that supposedly like to fight in WvW, you guys aren’t fighting very hard for these upgrades. Throw in the towel and RANT!
This is the forum I read the most but sad to say it is full of so much negativity, it needs a sub forum of WvW Rants, which would probably be 90% of the posts.
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
The spvp track alone might be enough to unlock the minor supply drop, but if you want to scribe that same recipe you need another 50, and another 50 for centaur banner, and another 75 for packed dolyaks
Tri-Lead of Ascension [WAR] of Borlis Pass
Don’t say it’s a pve mission, I had a team of 4 guildies jump in to stop a guild from doing it, while they had about 13 people they were spread out and the ones carrying the cores were vulnerable especially if left alone, we had a blast till they actually completed it and grouped up to stomp us :P
But yes Shukriyya speaks the truth, the wiki says it happens every 3 hours in ONE map, but each map is an hour off so if it starts at 1 pm in blue bl, it will start at 2 pm in either red or green bl, and then 3 pm in whichever the last one is, and with the event lasting an hour if nobody is doing it basically means it could be up the entire hour.
This info should help you a bit.

Faolain stabbed Eir in order to prevent her from running so the Vine creature would stop to deal with Eir while Faolain got away(you know the whole why outrun the bear when I just have to outrun YOU), simple strategy but Faolain didn’t expect that thorn through her back.

Because that map might have enemies to kill if there are none in yours, simple!
