Evon is a big soft, warm, fluffy ball of awesome.
The “big” changes are fixes to things most people see as bugs and problems. The feature patch does not introduce anything new or especially good, it just fixes what needed fixing.
But I love when things that desperately need fixing actually get fixed and improved.
I’m REALLY hoping they make them skins. T0 racial skins.
Pleeeeease. /puppydogeyes
People make it seem like Legendary Weapons are a prestige thing. They aren’t, they are just a really expensive skin and/or a huge time sink.
Time is important. Regardless of how you obtain it it still takes a lot of effort. Unless you were born into riches and use someone elses money to buy it with gems.
Although because that’s possible I consider Yellow SAB weapons the best prestige skins in game. :P As well as Liadri mini.
What would be neat (though I doubt it would ever be done, for achievement and loophole reasons) is that if I gave my norn tier 3 armor to my human, the skin would convert to human tier 3, and vice versa. Wild Idea, but interesting. Would save transmutation charges.
Except it’d kinda destroy the Achievements tied to them.
Nice, maybe I can make WvW infused trinkets and AR ones now and not have to waste space for them since my alt can use them till I feel like doing fractals. XD
You can just apply another skin on them if you want to use it on another race. Its not that bad as before since you will now not loose the Skin of the cultural armor.
^This.
This patch is going to be amazing. c.c
I.. I think I’m going to cry…
This is the most beautiful thing I ever seen in written text. ;-;
I made a thread asking for this ascended update and it’s like my dreams came true.
IDK guys, new emotes is just too awesome of an idea. idk if they can pull off something that epic. One thing that makes me jelly about ESO is it has literally 100+ emotes.
I really miss /flex. :P
It would probably be more interesting as a solo dungeon actually. Make Destiny Edge and pact NPCs more useful and help you fight. :P
“I don’t like when people try to claim ‘logic.’”
Try aesthetics then. It will just look bad unless the sword animations look vaguely believable. I had to search around for a sword skin that doesn’t drag through the floor when my thief is just standing around so how those long skins will ever look credible as a parrying weapon is beyond me. You might not think that players understand how much muscle is needed to parry with a longer lever but they will know something is wrong when they see it on screen.
I would actually like a parry as a utility skill instead of a weapon skill on one weapon set. It gets around the all the problems of repeatedly blocking until initiative is drained.
Now you’re falling into the realm of picky opinions. ;/ It’s not something weird or impossible and it’s something that exists in other games already.
Mungrul, plz delete that post before you give them any crazy ideas. XD
Legendaries shouldnt be in wardrobe. Because;
- Legendary prices will sky fall.
- Everbody just will buy legendary then sell and then buy other till having all.
- Everybody will walk around with shinny skins. Moar clustering
- End game skins will be consist of just 9-10 skin.
-No, not many people craft the same Legendarys for alts anyways. (if anyone’s even ever done that; period.)
-You need to soulbind it to unlock the skin.
-Alt or not, it’s still the same person with the same Legendary they made. Why should it be locked onto one character? Multiple characters but still belongs to only one person.
-There really isn’t much difference than how the game is now. People who make Legendarys will just simply have it with them easier.
The only possible solution for the dual same legendarys I could see being possible is unsoulbinding them. Then they can decide to soulbind it and just keep it or sell. Letting people trade them for different ones doesn’t work since they’re all different amounts of cost/effort.

+1 because my hand is dying.
I hope so, I have light and medium and unexpectedly fell in love with Guardian and wish I had a heavy one for him.
I used to hunt for the Dagger, gave up a very long time ago after like 300 fractals.
What will happen to my lovely beach outfit? :O
So can you transmute the legendary skin onto a weapon that isn’t soulbound and then sell that “skin” on the tp?
no.
I want the shorts and vest to be skins and to return to gem store.
I don’t even understand how that makes sense as a tonic.
It’s going to make them a ton of money off tranny charges but it’s still far more convenient and better in all ways than current system. You don’t need to spam skin changes if you don’t want to, but there’re people out there who will and more people who don’t use the system much or at all can get into it easier.
Only the Skin is account bound so it’ll just be an exotic/ascended or lower weapon with incinerator skin and not an actual legendary with stat change function.
The Wardrobe and Legendary changes are awesome. And sure you can skin it onto another weapon but you don’t get the stat change on the fly function. So your 2nd one still has some special value.
I personally always thought it was a waste to craft 2 of the same legendary anyways though even long before this feature patch. It would definitely of been something to be regretted eventually. There would always be a chance a much cooler weapon would be released that you’d want or a new legendary dagger you could dual with it. Didn’t expect something this great though, but I’d probably end up keeping my off-hand dagger as Yellow SAB Dagger (or purple if SABW4) since those are true legendary weapons that take blood and tears to craft. Happy I’ll get to use my hard earned Legendary on alts tho instead of it trapped on Thief forever.

Hmm, I wonder what the deal with fractal skins will be. I have multiple of the same ones, and because all they are, are skins, will they just become completely useless when RNG gives you one you already have…?
You’ll be able to use skin drops on whatever you want to without cost. Using wardrobe reskin will cost a tranny charge or whatever. So in-game repeat skins will still have purpose.
I just realized I’ll be able to Dual Wield Incinerators now and wouldn’t have to make a 2nd one? lol. :P Glad I didn’t craft 2 like a lot of cool kids did. I knew it would be regretted eventually, but because of new Legendarys on the way. No stat change on the fly though but oh well.
TBH, sure I was looking forward to the feature patch, but there was nothing I “couldn’t wait for.” This wardrobe thing though is spectacularly amazing and I now can’t wait for this patch to come. XD Too bad I still can’t wear heavy pieces with medium but it’s still awesome.
Also how will the town clothes shorts and shirts work? tonic thing confuses me.

It’s so weird how the class with the HEAVIEST ARMOR somehow moves faster than everyone else in the game. .-. Guardian is the other Heavy class and he definitely moves like he is. They’re pretty slow. Why is Warrior so crazy fast with all that weight?
Need to throw some Dark Souls logic into this game when it comes to armor. .-.
Heavy = slower and fat-rolls. XDDark Souls logic belongs in Dark Souls. If you want a Dark Souls experience, play Dark Souls. Not an MMO, unless it is Dark Souls Online or something.
The answer to balance considerations isn’t “do what a game I like that is in no way similar does”. That’s insane, like all arguments about “realism” in a fantastical video game.
The problem is such “Lack of Logic” goes against the point of even having armor tiers in the first place. Mine as well remove the light/heavy/medium tiers completely and just give classes new base stats and/or stat scaling. Why the hell am I wearing medium armor when I could still run like a speed-demon with heavy appearance?
not before adding /flex. ;(
Why is this in the profession balance forums?
Regardless, /signed
It adds much needed offense against Warriors. It counters their flee skill.

If you’re a Thief who likes large-scale combat in WvW, this sounds like a pretty decent pick, because you have tons of targets to crit on, and long-term sustain is a real issue in these battles.
So for zerg fights. I guess that’s no so bad for that situation. I still wouldn’t use it in a roaming spec, however; but for a 30 v 30+ encounter I can see this being useful.
You wouldn’t use it in roaming because you’re not supposed to. The trait is 100% designed for PvE and Zerg combat in WvW, the same thing Signet of Malice was designed for. I may switch back and forth between it in WvW just as I do with Signet~ I change to Signet when I follow around a zerg but when I break off to roam around I swap to Hide in Shadows. The Trait will be treated the same way depending on my current level of lazy at the time.
Could try a 30/30/10 build with it in zergs and hopefully have good survivability+dmg.

GW2 swords are graphically really big, not ninja daggers at all. They were designed for warrior dual wielding. It will be almost impossible for thieves to deftly wield two of them and not look like an overmuscled beserk warrior. More than that the body mechanics for agile dodging and off hand sword wielding do not go together as you always need to commit your body weight into the off hand strike (unless you’re an overmuscled warrior) and that goes against the concept of a balanced, evasive fighter. If you want to parry and jab with the offhand sword then you should use a dagger, really!
Anyway if you want to look like a dual wielding ninja there are many long daggers that fit your bill.
I don’t like when people try to claim ‘logic.’ The Class is Thief, it can do whatever it wants to… It’s a master of improvising in combat and taking down it’s enemies with any weapon it gets its hands on. Sure Assassin is better at it since Anet spiritually deleted Way of the Master by giving us only 4 weapons but whatever. A Thief still picks up and use whatever it wants to, there’s no reason for any limits at all when it comes to what weapon they use.
Some daggers are just as large as swords~especially that new mist one and the fact that you even agree with that goes against your point…. Body mass also has no reason to be put into an argument like this. o.O Not only is it possible IRL but this is a video game where any character appearance can do whatever they want to. My Warrior is scrawny.
My Thief also most likely does more damage than any other class in the game when it comes to picking up an Elementalist’s Greatsword. He doesn’t care how heavy it is. He’s a Thief. He picks up/steals any random thing he sees and masters it against someone’s face.
“If you want to parry and jab with the offhand sword then you should use a dagger, really!” Well ho ho lets just redesign Dagger off-hand then. They’re not going to though so a new off-hand needs to be added. The reason behind Dual Wielding swords IRL is for defense so regardless of what a Dagger can do a Off-Hand sword is still going to parry and since we can’t redesign Dagger off-hand~ well then let’s go. Dual Swords naow.

You’re forgetting that it’s a Dual skill, so the gun has to be used in some way. This change would make it an entirely different skill and the name wouldn’t make much sense.
The animation would have to be changed to rotating between hitting them with gun and sword back and forth, which would look funny. XD

I agree. Also need ambient penguins and penguins corrupted by Jormag.

It’s a Mystery.
No.
Patch was known to be coming for months now.
No.
That has nothing to do with it, also you don’t even know the answer. Anet would have to Answer it. It’s possible they might allow a stat change.
What DOES have to do with it is the FACT that right there in the ANET ToS it states along the lines of ANET has the right to change ANYTHING they want to at their discretion without compensation to those displeased with said changes, so, as much as I also being one of those opposed to those changes as well the answer is NO.
I finished my entire ascended armor set before they announced the crit changes, so his reason/argument is worthless.
This is because the Thief is the spiritual successor of the Assassin in GW1, so they can’t use all the same skill names they had in GW1. I think this is the one reason why they chose Invigorating Precision to preserve the difference in the games.
Other than that, the functionality is pretty much the same.
Huh? They already use same-exact names of Assassin skills on Thief… Maybe they just forgot about the skill or don’t know since so many devs haven’t played GW1. Or just the fact it’s a trait and not utility.
I miss the skill Critical Defense XD Assassins were so much Tankier than Thieves. :< Blocking VS Stealth. Wish it was possible to spec into one or the other in GW2.
A guild mate and I discussed about the healing amount a thief would gain while killing an ambient creature (rabbit, frog, crab ect). It would be very funny if you almost defeated a random thief in WvW and the thief decides to kill a random passing by ambient creature, only so the thief could fully heal it’s Hp.
I think they caught wind of that cuz they mentioned ambient critters don’t effect it.

What if they added a copy of Cloak and Dagger to Sword Off-hand except it gave stability and protection instead of stealth and vulnerability? .-.
I would like for ANet to give a “Free Hand” option to Thieves. A full skill set around a single weapon (You still need an off-hand weapon equipped to benefit from the stats, though).
I hate, hate, HATE how all games pigeon hole Thieves into dual wielding monkeys. I know its just a game, but dual wielding is NOT a practical form of fighting in real life, and I would like for more of a non-stealth Evasive//Grapple/Parry-Riposte style play with an “empty offhand” fighting style.
Honestly this is how I feel with all games. Wielding only a dagger in one hand or even both hands just looks cool. They could always add 2 handed daggers, which actually makes sense it’s just certain attacks use both hands to stab harder and if Spear can do it why not. Alibaba in the anime “Magi” fights like that. :P Best dagger wielder ever.
crit immunity – it’s funny if it’s against thief.
Question is, which trait has higher priority.
Thief 100% crit chance while in stealth, or elementalist’s u can’t crit me.
Pretty sure the moment you land that guaranteed crit on an uncritable Ele the servers will crash and you may possibly even undo existence.
The ONLY thing I dislike about Rangers being near me is those ones who somehow feel the need to hit things that me, or a group of people are meleeing with a knockback arrow. It’s really annoying and unnecessary majority of the time.
Then there’s some things their pets just mess up in fractals and dungeons if they don’t keep them at bay which poor pet mechanics could be blamed for. That doesn’t keep me from inviting them though.
No.

I don’t think they will show Trehearne again, or record another audio with him. People just hate him, because…. i don’t know why… i did like him in the story
Because people skim through the story instead of actually paying attention to it and somehow come to a weird conclusion that he stole all their glory when he didn’t. Also if you don’t play a Sylvari you don’t learn all those extra bits of info about his sword and why he’s the only one who can save Orr with it as clearly I guess.
I rolled a mesmer and went on killing low-level grubs to level.
I rolled an ele and had to go craft not to get killed by same-level mobs.
I then rolled a warr and steamrolled +3-4 level mobs rarely even using healing. So maybe, because highest-armour highest-dps highest-mobility warrs are just a slightest bit overpowered?
fixed to further clarify OPness. :P
meow
The Regen Nerf wasnt big enough. They don’t hit Wars with gigantic percentage nerfs like they do Thief so be grateful. :P
Well ok then. :/
Now if only you could stack stability by spamming dagger 5. .-.
(edited by Doggie.3184)
How do you know they’re actually looters? Maybe the Lionguard are just discriminating against them?
I’m fine with the whole ferocity stat thing, but I really don’t understand how lowering crit damage promotes build diversity~ unless they just want more people running conditions in PvP. Certainly not worth using Condi in PvE though regardless of this change.
I don’t even see Scarlet as a person. :/ Yes, I’m racist against non-humans ingame.
exactly. its like saying you get upset after cutting firewood.
I’m a Sylvari and I laughed so you have my approval.
Do we have any confirmation on the fate of the Raisin Face duo?
The charr suspected to be “squshed and weird” at the medical tent is now standing up and seems to be doing fine despite the fact that the medic previously said he had only 24 hours to live.
Did they fix his face? Maybe they’ll have a plot twist where the shape of his face saved his life from a piece of shrapnel that almost killed him if positioned slightly differently.
